Viewing total duration for multiple audio files

I need to be able to view 'total duration', when selecting multiple audio files, e.g. 10 audio files, total duration 42.03. I can't find a way to do this and so far, all I've been able to do is view individual audio file durations, then total them manually (which takes far too long, for what I need to do). I've previously been a Windows user, and this is instantly viewable in Explorer.
I'm new to OS X, and really need to be able to do this for my job. Can anyone help??
Thanks in advance, Marc

Here's an image to explain better:

However the total time isn't 100% accurate, because I believe iTunes is adding some extra seconds for the gaps in between songs.

  • Creating a Volume Control Bar for multiple audio files

    I'm fairly new to Flash and am developing a project with a
    series of frames that contain unique movie clips. Each of these
    frames are accessible through a chapter based menu as well as being
    viewable straight through as a regular movie. I've just added the
    audio for each "chapter" / frame that are all unique from one
    another. I'm having a problem with creating a volume control bar
    that will affect all audio throughout all frames from the single
    control bar on the general skin/interface that these chapters work
    out of. (Using Flash 8)
    I developed a sliding control bar, which works but does not
    affect the volume in any way. Is there something wrong with the
    following coding that I'm using? (The control bar is made up of a
    button nested in a movie clip and the action is being applied to
    the mc. The bar/line to follow is 60px long and the control is to
    move horizontally while the increase corresponds to increase in
    volume. The original code was for a 100px line from a macromedia
    tutorial that I adjusted to be 60px) Any advice on best practice
    for creating a volume control bar would be greatly appreciated! (I
    currently have all of my corresponding audio files on separate
    layers, should I be placing these within a mc rather than just
    having them on the main timeline?) Thank You!!!!

    Answering my own question.....
    Each individual swf has the code...
    var my_sound:Sound = new Sound();
    my_sound.loadSound("someSound.mp3", true);
    my_sound.setVolume(50);
    Code on Shell/main slide....
    //SOUND OBJECT
    var soundtrack:Sound = new Sound;
    soundtrack.setVolume(50);
    //END OF SOUND OBJECT
    //GLOBAL VOLUME CONTROL
    var nVolCheck:Number;
    volSlider.volBall.onPress = function():Void {
    this.startDrag (false, 0, 0, 75, 0);
    nVolCheck = setInterval(updateVolume, 150);
    volSlider.volBall.onRelease = function():Void {
    this.stopDrag ();
    clearInterval(nVolCheck);
    function updateVolume():Void {
    var vol:Number = (volSlider.volBall._x)*2;
    soundtrack.setVolume(vol);
    //END OF GLOBAL VOLUME CONTROL
    my bar is 75 pixels in width and the volume is being
    increased by 1.5 at its maximum.

  • Multiple audio files for one flash video

    My company is developing a presentation software program that
    is flashed-based. We are developing a series of videos that will be
    converted to flash video. We will also be recording multiple audio
    tracks for different languages that we want to swap out and sync to
    the video (like the different audio language tracks on a DVD). Does
    anyone know if you can encode the video and audio to seperate
    tracks and then swap out the audio with another and still synch it
    to the video?
    We want to try and avoid encoding video for all the language
    tracks to save space. If we could have one video file and then
    multiple audio files that can be synched with the video file,
    rather than having to encode video and audio for each language,
    this would save a lot of room. Can anyone think of a way we could
    accomplish this using flash and flash video?

    nope, Keynote doesn't have "triggers" though I figure this has to be on Apple's radar as it's been brought up every time a new version comes out.
    I suppose one work around would be to make a slide for each sound, and have the sound play when you go to that slide. Then make your table a series of buttons that go to each "sound slide" (you can make link buttons, just not triggers). It would give you the effect of clicking to play the sound, it's just that instead, Keynote would be jumping to a slide and playing a sound. All the slides would LOOK the same, and you wouldn't use transitions between them. The effect would get you what you want, it just takes longer to build.

  • How do you set the duration for multiple stills in iMovie 2013?

    How do you set the duration for multiple stills in iMovie 2013?
    Before upgrading to the latest version of iMovie last month, I was able to set the duation of all of the stills included in an iMovie project at one time by clicking the apply to all still box in the adjustment pop up. That option is no longer apparent. If it is available I cannot find it, and I have tried several different ways to accomplish it. I have tried the iMovie help section and can find nothing to help.
    Apple, do I really have to adjust close to 500 pictures to a 5 second duration individually???
    REALLY??!!

    ...why wouldnt people want that level of accuracy when animating, especially when working to music at a specific duration?
    Because often people are animating to words or beats in the music.  Music is rarely performed with a computer-precise beat and tempo.  Musicians aren't robots: they swing the beat sometimes.  They use rubato.  They change tempo.  They change time signatures.  As a result, you have to FIND those words and beats.  It's not a situation where you can say, "There!  I've found the duration of one beat!  Now it's easy to find the rest of them!"
    If you try it, you will be very disappointed.
    Try finding the precise end of a piece of music that fades or ends on a big chord with a ring-out.  You'll see that it's trial-and-error: what's the point where it becomes inaudible?  It depends on how high your speakers are turned up.  You might have them way up, you set an end point for the layer, and then you do a RAM Preview at a more reasonable volume.  You might say, "Hey!  The music ends before the layer ends!"...  but you KNOW you set the layer's out point when the audio file goes silent.
    AE has layer markers that can be used on an audio layer to mark beats, words, etc. They come in very handy.
    I guess it comes down to this: because AE can do so much different stuff, there are very few automated procedures.  Oh, Adobe tries with effects that convert audio levels to keyframes, but they're not 100% reliable... especially on something like a capella choral works.  For true accuracy, you need  find the timings yourself.
    If you want something simpler, try a different application. But be prepared for lower level of accuracy.

  • Inserting multiple audio files?

    I'm trying to import 2 separate video and audio files to join them up, however it won't let me insert the second audio track, however the second video track goes in fine?

    Welcome to our community
    Captivate allows audio at three levels.
    Background - Plays for duration of project
    Slide - Plays when slide plays
    Object - Plays when object appears
    What you need to do if you want multiple audio files to play is to insert objects and associate audio with the objects. If you don't wish to see the object and all you want to do is hear the audio, use a Transparent Caption with no text or a Highlight Box with no color or a Click Box with no pause and no action when clicked.
    Cheers... Rick

  • How do i play multiple audio files simultaneously using AudioQueue?

    I've basically gutted what I don't need from the "Speakhere" sample app and I'm left with something I can use to play audio files. I converted wav files to aiff and then renamed the aiff to caf (Just in case this matters). I even tried shortening the files to 10 seconds long, but no difference. I am able to play files singly, but am unable to play more than one file at the same time. When I try to play multiple files, the first one plays correctly but the second will play a horrible long beeping sound. Sounds almost like a buzzer and sometimes will sound like a high pitched beep. My code has all the audio components like the speakhere app (AudioQueueObject, AudioPlayer, AudioViewController). I've changed the AudioViewController to be just my "AudioController" class where when I initialize, I pass in the name of the file and it replaces this line of code:
    CFStringRef fileString = (CFStringRef) [NSString stringWithFormat: @"%@/Recording.caf", self.recordingDirectory];
    with this:
    CFStringRef fileString = (CFStringRef) [NSString stringWithFormat: fileName, self.recordingDirectory];
    Any suggestions? I've been yanking my hair out trying to figure this out and I simply can't. I'm about ready to pull an "Office Space" but instead of beating up a printer, I'm going to destroy my macbook.
    *NOTE: I have only tried this in the simulator, but I'm assuming it will do this on the real thing so I haven't bothered to try.

    Unless I'm mistaken, you need one AudioQueue object for each audio file you want to play. In one of my apps, I basically copied the code provided in the [AudioQueue programming guide|http://developer.apple.com/iphone/library/documentation/MusicAudio/Concep tual/AudioQueueProgrammingGuide/AQPlayback/chapter4_section_1.html#//appleref/doc/uid/TP40005343-CH3-SW1] and made a wrapper object for playback. So then you can do something like this:
    MyAudioManager *manager1 = [[MyAudioManager alloc] initWithFile:@"file1.caf"];
    [manager1 play];
    MyAudioManager *manager2 = [[MyAudioManager alloc] initWithFile:@"file2.caf"];
    [manager2 play];
    // etc...
    If you want to play short files (~10s or less), you can use the simpler AudioServices functions along with SystemSoundID's. It will work fine if you have playback from AudioQueue and AudioServices at the same time.

  • HT201066 How can I split a long recording audio file into multiple audio files?

    Hi,
    How can I split a long recording audio file into multiple audio files?
    With Windows I was using Nero software, which is not available for Mac. Is there any similar app for free for Mac?
    Thanks!

    Hello ingiorgio
    You can import the track into GarageBand and then split the tracks there. Once that it is done you can highlight the ruler section and then share the song to iTunes to get them separated out.

  • Multiple Audio files on one slide

    Hello,
    I want to have multiple audio files in a table on a single slide.
    Also, these audio files should play when I click on that particular file (which will be placed in a cell in the table)
    How do I do this?
    I see an option with "Play sound on click" but it plays when I click anywhere.
    This doesn't give me the ability to place multiple files and thus be able to play them as needed.
    Thanks.

  • Mixing multiple audio files using Windows Azure Media Services

    Hi,
    I'm trying to "mix" multiple audio files on the server, e.g. I have 4 different .wav files for each instrument in my song: vocals, guitar, drums, bass.  I want to create a new stereo "mix" from these, but I want to change the relative
    volume of one of the tracks, say vocals, or mute it altogether.  I can use libraries such as NAudio to achieve this, but I'm wondering if Windows Media Services can do this, and if so, can it do it dynamically, i.e. create a live stereo stream and allow
    me to add/drop individual tracks on-the-fly.  I've been looking through documentation on Azure Media Services and Expression Encoder, but haven't found the answer.
    Thanks,
    Alan

    Hi Georgios,
    There is support for using audio overlays in our service - see http://azure.microsoft.com/blog/2014/08/21/advanced-encoding-features-in-azure-media-encoder/ for examples. It may be possible to perform pairwise overlays to implement your scenario.
    However, it's currently not possible for us to integrate customer-built processor code into our service.
    Cheers,
    Azure Media Services team

  • Error message: One or multiple audio files changed in length!

    Hi
    I keep getting this error message:
    "One or multiple audio files changed in length!
    As a result one audio region changed in length or content position."
    But I can't really tell what effect it's having. Slightly worrying though. Any ideas?

  • Loading multiple audio files into a single frame

    What I'm trying to do is just have a song loop continuously
    in a stopped frame (which is easy enough), but the song I want to
    use has 12 seconds of intro before the loop begins. The only way I
    can think of to do this is to split the intro and loop into two
    different files, then have it load the intro, play it once, then
    once the intro finishes load the loop file and play it. Unless
    there's some way I can have the file loop but specify that it
    should start over at 00:12 each time instead of 00:00. Is there any
    way I can do this without just having 12 seconds of frames playing
    the intro and then a stopped frame with the loop?
    By the way, I'm using AS2 for this project.

    Thanks for the help. I wasn't even aware that the
    onSoundComplete method existed, though, so I have no idea what the
    syntax would be. How would I go about writing the code? I already
    have the audio file attached to a sound object so that I could fade
    it at the end. Basically the audio file loops until the user
    presses a key, at which point the timeline progresses to the next
    frame and the loop fades out. The file is exported for ActionScript
    with the identifier "Prelude." The code I'm using for the audio
    file is attached below.

  • To calculate Header size for an audio file.

    HI ALL
    Iam displaying the wave form for an audio file opened(.wav, .au ...etc) and doing any edit operation (cut for example) my waveform is shown with extra header (bytes) added to this wave form, i want to get rid of this. That's why i want to calculate the Header Size, which i heard that header size is not constant for all the files(even same two .wav files).
    Any Ideas will be appreciated.
    Thanks
    kalpana.

    find the documentation for the .wav file format :P

  • One Orchestration for Multiple ZIP file FTP Solution.

    Problem:
    Zip files are being generated from multiple locations on my network. I do not need to see any information in the Zip files. My goal is to pick up the files and transfer them to various external FTP servers.
    Solution:
    BizTalk picks up the zip file using a pass-through(file) receive port. I created an orchestration because I would like to send email based on failure/success. Inside the orchestration I am using the receive port information to assign the destination party.
    The send port then filters based on destination party and sends to external FTP server.
    This gives me the ability to have 1 orchestration for multiple transfers. I wanted it to be as generic as possible.
    1 Orchestration - 10+ Receive Locations - 8+ External FTP Sites.
    Question:
    Has anyone done this before? What should I watch out for? Do I have a good solution to my problem?

    Yes ,
    This is totally a valid business scenario were you have multiple publisher of the message and there are different subscriber( FTP sites ) for your processed message .
    You can have multiple receive location inside the same receive port and also multiple send port for different message subscription .
    So ,Its all good from your side :)
    Thanks|
