Virtual views in OID

Hi,
I am trying to get hold of the access facilities using ACP/ACI
in OID but can't make it work the way I would like. In short I have the
following scenario:
o=myuniversity
|
|_ou=usergroup1
|
|_uid = xxx ...
|
|_uid = yyy ...
|
|_ou=usergroup2
|
|_cn=managerfaculty1
|
|_ou=managerfaculty2
The users in f.x. usergroup1 have an attribute faculty
indicating which faculty they belong to. This could be reflected
in an heracical structure, but I would like to keep this very
flat structure. What I would like to do is following:
Give the managers in managerfaculty1 which is a multivalued object
of class groupNames, access to modify content of users in usergroup1
where the attribute faculty is set to 1.
I managed to set up an ACP/ACI on ou=usergroup1 giving access to all users.
I get stuck when i try to put a content entry filter on. I can't get hold
of the attribute "faculty" which is'nt part of the organizationUnit class
and therefore can't filter out the users they are allowed to manage.
Another way around could be using aliases. I have tried but as far as
I can see this is'nt the way. I can't build an heracicl structure with
aliases. It is only permitted in one level.
I have heard that Iplanet have a feature they call virtual views. Does
OID have a parallel feature or to put it simple how do I solve this problem?
regards and thanks

  • How to make a virtual view for all the incoming messages from several accounts, just like in Opera Mail?

I want to have a replication of Opera mail feature. This feature enables you to aggregate all mail items from across all the e-mail accounts into a single virtual aggregated view.
That is, say, we have 3 different mail accounts. In Mozilla Thunderbird on a daily basis I check if there is something new in the incoming folder for those accs. To do that I click on the corresponding folder for every account. Now, what i want is to click on a single folder where I would have an aggregated virtual view of the incoming folder for all of those 3 accounts. I guess, same thing can be done with different kinds of mails, such as:
    * Unread messages (after having viewed the mail item, it automatically goes straight into "Sent messages" aggregate view, listed below)
    * Read messages
    * Sent messages
    * Spam messages
    * Drafts, etc
Also there is this cool feature (virtual thing applies here as well) that helps to have a view of all the attachments across all accounts categorized into different descriptions, such as:
    * docs (xls, doc, ppt, etc)
    * images (jpg, png, etc)
    * archives (zip, rar, etc)
More then that, it would still be better to have labling aggregation view feature across all acounts. That is, if we have marked important several messages in, say, 2 accounts, those should be seen in a single aggregated virtual view under name, say, "Important messages". Same can be said with flags, todos, etc.

Pop mail accounts can be set up to use a Global Inbox. Imap mail accounts cannot.
However, there are various 'views' in Thunderbird. I would suggest you try 'Unified'. This creates a visual Inbox containing all Inbox messages with sub folders showing individual Inboxes, so you can still see them separately if required.
    via Menu Bar;
    View > Folders > Unified
    Via Menu icon
Menu Icon > Folders > Unified.
This view would show all the 'Important' tagged emails, so you could them sort by Tag.

  • Allow PUBLIC users to search and view basic OID data

Have tried to use the People Search portlet available under Portlet Repository: Administration Portlets: SSO/OID.
Portlet works fine so long as user is logged in. However, I need to be able to allow ANYBODY to search and return this basic user data.
Is there a way to do this, either by configuring something or by creating a custom report on a mapped (synonym) table/view???

    Hi Sonia,
I don't think it's possible with the People Search Portlet - the application that controls the People Search Portlet is the Oracle Delegated Administrative Services & it requires a login via SSO to perform search / update Operations.
I would suggest that you develop a custom portlet using either PL/SQL or Java ( using simple JNDI ). You can later extend your own application to suit future business needs.

  • Suggestion: Virtual Application Manager View

I can't find an option for this so I'm suggesting it...
I would like to suggestion an addition view for the project files where you can arrange the Directory Tree in a virtual manner. For instance If I was working on com.app.panels.searchpanel.java and every time I'm working with this file I work with com.app.db.searchrequests.java and com.app.common.dto.searchresults.java and some other files I would want to group them together in the view so they are next too each other just like the collapsible packages are now except I want to make a virtual view and keep the files in the correct directories and packages but merge the view for them.
There are also situations where I might want to make another virtual view that has searchpanel.java in that group also but might have viewpanel.java and the searchresults.java
I think this would increase productivity because you could have the same class in multiple spots in the tree but it updates the same file but not have to go and click though to the package that its in.
I know some people are thinking well, why don't you just open the 5 files your going to be editing and use the tabs?! Well I switch what group I'm working with often since I'm the only developer on my projects and I get too many files open on the tab bar so its not very efficient for me.
    Thanks,
    Art

That is pretty interesting, I have never seen this before. This is better not perfect but better.
Thanks for the tip. Any feature I'm missing that allows you to reorder the files in the package in a custom order?

  • OVD and OID integration

    Hi all,
    How to do OVD-OID integration?
    Version 11.1.1.5.0.
I am not clear in the steps Which is mentioned in the Oracle Document. Please anybody give the steps.I will follow that one.
    - Deena.

I would assume you are talking about creating virtual views in OVD for OID
You will have to create a LDAP adapter in OVD. Please see the OVD documentation for the same http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E15586_01/oid.1111/e10046/basic_adapters.htm#CHDJFEJG
    Hope this helps,

  • Integrating Oracle Virtual Directory with Oracle Internet Directory

    Hi Experts,
Just wanted to know suggestions from you.... what are the advantages we have by integrating Oracle Virtual Directory with Oracle Internet Directory.
    Thanks
    parker.

    Hi Ken/Experts ,
    Thanks for your response.
Still we need some more clarification on My Requirement that is, we are using ‘Oracle Single Sign On’ for my product and OID (Oracle Internet Directory) is enabled for this Single Sign On. Now we are planning to use OViD (Oracle Virtual Directory) for our Product so we integrated OID with OViD and now we are able to view the OID users in OViD. But Still My Product is using Single Sign On, which is enabled with OID only. Do we need to enable OViD (Oracle Virtual Directory) for Single Sign On? If yes please help us how to integrate (enable) OViD with Single Sign On.
    Thanks in advance.
    Thanks,

  • Data Federator:  Unioning Multiple Tables into single view possible?

    Hi,
I have three different databases with tables containing a portion of the same kind of data and I want to union the three different tables together in Data Federator to present a single logical view that has the complete set of data.  Is this possible in Data Federator?  How would I go about doing that?
Note: I do not have keys to join the tables together on since it's not simply extending the data in one table with additional data in another table and doing an inner join on a unique key.  Instead, for example, there's a customer table for Finance, a customer table for Operations and a customer table for Sales and they all contain the same columns (with maybe slightly different names) and same type of data.  I want to effectively union Finance, Operations and Sales together in a federated/virtualized view so applications can just query from that view to get all the customers from the three different databases.
I have been unable to do this so far since Data Federator requires each table in a mapping to have a relationship with the other tables in the mapping.
    Thanks for the help.
    Kerby

I figured out the original question using one mapping for each table but have a new question now.
Is it possible for an application to use the combined view from Data Federator to write back into the databases?
e.g. have an application use the target table in Data Federator and view the results, and based on that update the data in the underlying database that provides the data for the target table?
    Thanks for the help.

  • View on DB Table

I want to create a view on DB Table eg CSKS. Can anyone show me how to do this or Show me where I can find information to create view on DB Table.
    Thanks.

    hi anil,
In database theory, a view is a virtual or logical table composed of the result set of a query. Unlike ordinary tables (base tables) in a relational database, a view is not part of the physical schema: it is a dynamic, virtual table computed or collated from data in the database. Changing the data in a table alters the data shown in the view.
The result of a view is stored in a permanent table whereas the result of a query is displayed in a temporary table.
    Views can provide advantages over tables;
They can subset the data contained in a table
They can join and simplify multiple tables into a single virtual table
Views can act as aggregated tables, where aggregated data (sum, average etc.) are calculated and presented as part of the data
Views can hide the complexity of data, for example a view could appear as Sales2000 or Sales2001, transparently partitioning the actual underlying table
Views take very little space to store; only the definition is stored, not a copy of all the data they present
Depending on the SQL engine used, views can provide extra security.
Views can limit the exposure to which a table or tables are exposed to the outer world
Just like functions (in programming) provide abstraction, views can be used to create abstraction. Also, just like functions, views can be nested, thus one view can aggregate data from other views. Without the use of views it would be much harder to normalise databases above second normal form. Views can make it easier to create lossless join decomposition.
Rows available through a view are not sorted. A view is a relational table, and the relational model states that a table is a set of rows. Since sets are not sorted - per definition - the rows in a view are not ordered either. Therefore, an ORDER BY clause in the view definition is meaningless and the SQL standard (SQL:2003) does not allow this for the subselect in a CREATE VIEW statement.
    Read-only vs. updatable views
Views can be read-only or updatable. If the database system is able to determine the reverse mapping from the view schema to the schema of the underlying base tables, then the view is updatable. INSERT, UPDATE, and DELETE operations can be performed on updatable views. Read-only views do not support such operations because the DBMS is not able to map the changes to the underlying base tables.
Some systems support the definition of INSTEAD OF triggers on views. This technique allows the definition of logic that shall be executed instead of an insert, update, or delete operation on the views. Thus, data modifications on read-only views can be implemented. However, an INSTEAD OF trigger does not change the read-only or updatable property of the view itself.
    Advanced view features
Various database management systems have extended the views from read-only subsets of data. The Oracle database introduced the concept of materialized views, which are pre-executed, non-virtual views commonly used in data warehousing. They are a static snapshot of the data and may include data from remote sources. The accuracy of a materialized view depends on the frequency or trigger mechanisms behind its updates. DB2 provides so-called materialized query tables (MQTs) for the same purpose. Microsoft SQL Server, introduced in the 2000 version, indexed views which only store a separate index from the table, but not the entire data.
    Equivalency:
A view is equivalent to its source query. When queries are run against views, the query is modified. For example, if there exists a view named Accounts_view and the content is:
    accounts view:
    SELECT name,
           money_received,
           money_sent,
           (money_received - money_sent) AS balance,
           address,
      FROM table_customers c
      JOIN accounts_table a
        ON a.customerid = c.customer_id
The application would simply run a simple query such as:
    Sample query
    SELECT name,
           balance
      FROM accounts_view
The RDBMS then takes the simple query, replaces the equivalent view, then sends the following to the optimiser:
    Preprocessed query:
    SELECT name,
           balance
      FROM (SELECT name,
                   money_received,
                   money_sent,
                   (money_received - money_sent) AS balance,
                   address,
              FROM table_customers c JOIN accounts_table a
                   ON a.customerid = c.customer_id        )
From this point on the optimizer takes the query, removes unnecessary complexity (i.e. it is not necessary to read the address, since the parent invocation does not make use of it) and then sends the query to the SQL engine for processing.

  • Is OCS a real File system or Virtual file system?

    Hello gurus,
I would like to ask pros some fundamental questions regarding OCS.
    1. Are files and folders in ocs are stored as real system files and directories in OS somewhere ?
    2. Are the files or folders all all maintained in database itself?
We are trying to accomplish following task pertaining to document management: I dont know if we can achieve this through Oracle content services.
We have bunch of documents that are attached to the Units ( Serialized) that we are selling.
    example
    1. SN1_A.doc ( sold from sales order 12345 and same documents referenced in Service request# A123)
2.SN1_B.doc (sold from sales order 12345 and same documents referenced in Service request# A123)
    3. SN2_A.doc ( sold from sales order 12346 and referenced in SR# A124)
    4. SN2_B.doc ( sold from sales order 12346 and referenced in SR# A124)
No we want two VIRTUAL directory views for Sales team and Service Team
    Virtual view for Service team:
    /Field Service/Service Requests/A123/ (will show SN1_A.doc and SN1_B.doc )
    /Field Service/Service Requests/A124/(will show SN2_A.doc and SN2_B.doc )
    Virtual view for Sales team:
    /Field Sales/Sales Orders/12345 / (will show SN1_A.doc and SN1_B.doc )
    /Field Sales/Sales Orders/12346 /(will show SN2_A.doc and SN2_B.doc )
Is this possible in OCS? Is this possible in any Document Management product?
    Please help

    Hello,
out of the box OCS content services won't do this for you -- at least not exactly.
What you're looking for is a way to tag documents with metadata.
For example, you would define a category called Sales and give it two attributes: sales order and service request.
You create a folder which forces the user the populate these fields when uploading or checking in a document.
A service technician could then use the content search facility (in the content browser) to look for documents with a service request of A123, while a salesman could search for documents tagged with the sales order 12345.
This does not give you the virtual folder look that you seem to be after, so that would be the part you'd have to custom code. But you'd be using the search mechanism I described above.

    Ingo

  • Reconciliation on OVD (configured to point to OID)

    Hi,
I have a requirement where I need to reconcile on OVD which will provide a modified view of OID.
Since there is no connector available for OVD, I have configured IPLANET connector for OVD.
Using this connector though I am able to PROVISION Users into OID with OVD in between, it is failing to reconcile users on OID
When I run reconciliation, I get the following error:
*INFO QuartzWorkerThread-1 XL_INTG.SJSDS - Problem searching directory: javax.naming.OperationNotSupportedException: [LDAP: error code 53 - LDAP Error 53: [LDAP: error code 12 - Unavailable Critical Extension]]; remaining name 'cn=Users,dc=ad,dc=mycompany,dc=com'*
There are some links on OVD reconciliation, but of no help for my case -

  • What is snmpv3 view cac_view?

I have just started migrated devices to SNMPv3 and was using the v1default view, but it appears my NMS doesn't have permission to mib
1.3.6.1.2.1.17.4.3 with this view. Maybe cac_view does? I need a view that can see everything. Should I switch to cac_view or try to create something new?

    Jessica,
Configuring SNMPv3 on Cisco device is pretty simple and is MUCH preferred over v1 or v2. SNMPv3 has three big benefits:
authentication — we can be assured that the message originated from a valid source
integrity — we can be assured that a packet has not been modified in transit
encryption — no more plain-text SNMP data flying around our network
In v1 or v2 all you have to do to get the device able to get polled is configure SNMP COMMUNITY STRING.
In SNMP v3 due to increased security the steps flow is like this :
    1. Create a SNMP View ---> 2. Create a GROUP for that View --> 3. Create USERS under GROUP
    1. snmp-server view view-name oid-tree {included | excluded}
    2. snmp-server group [groupname {v1 | v2c | v3{auth | noauth | priv}}] [read readview] [write writeview] [notify notifyview] [access access-list]
    3. snmp-server user username [groupname remote ip-address [udp-port port] {v1 | v2c | v3 [encrypted] [auth {md5 | sha} auth-password [priv des56 priv password]] [access access-list]
    EXAMPLE:
    > Router(config)# snmp-server view target1 internet included
    > Router(config)# snmp-server group mygroup v3 auth write target1
    > Router(config)#snmp-server user myuser mygroup v3 encrypted auth md5 myuser
This is simplest configuration you need on a device to make it running. Than you can try to poll you device using snmp v3 username and password according to the tool to see it is wokring correctly.
For more refrence you can check following links:
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/ios/12_0t/12_0t3/feature/guide/Snmp3.html#wp18842
    http://evilrouters.net/2010/03/03/configuring-snmpv3-on-catalyst-switches/
    http://blogs.manageengine.com/netflowanalyzer/2011/05/31/configuring-snmp-v3-on-cisco-router-and-manageengine-netflow-analyzer/
So in short, you can create any SNMP VIEW with your own defined name and allow it to view everything. TO allow everything, just configure it to include ISO:
    example:
    snmp-server view VIEW_NAME iso included

  • Why we are use OVD?

    Hi ,
I am new to OIM and OAM.Currently in my project they are using OID and OVD .
The diff bet ween OID and OVD is in OVD there is no Database Repository .
what my question is already OID is there whay we are using OVD?
    Could any one please explain.
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards,
    Ravi.

You don't need to use OVD if you don't need it. OVD allows you to present multiple LDAP resources as if they were one. For example, you could configure OIM/OAM to look at OVD which presents a virtual view of your OID and WebLogic embedded LDAP, so no matter whether the user is in OID or WebLogic, they can authenticate. Similarly, if you have other LDAP repositories like ODSEE or AD, you could do something similar.

  • Adobe does not recognize footers in Microsoft Word 2007 to PDF

I have copied and pasted the details, below, from a previous message I have sent out to an assistive technology listserv.
I am encountering this problem with various builds and versions of Adobe Acrobat:
Acrobat X on a Windows Vista 64-bit build (note that this is the best Acrobat I can install on Windows Vista, Adobe Reader XI is not even supported)
Acrobat X on a Windows XP build, sorry, do not know the bit count (it is my work computer so I can't upgrade anything)
    Acrobat 9 on a Windows 7 64-bit build.
I have also encountered and checked into whether or not the PDF reads (and does what I want it to) in JAWS 14, latest update (Feb 2013). We encounter the same problem with JAWS and this morning found out that there is a conversion error between Word and Adobe. (See this post, where the ---- are).
Summary, I have spoken with JAWS, put out a support ticket with NVDA via e-mail, spoken with Microsoft, and tried to communicate with Adobe about this issue for help and Adobe is refusing to help. The other places tried everything they knew but they could not get it to work. I even tried to strip all the page numbers from Word and number using Adobe's page numbering feature, but that was not successful either because I cannot use Roman numerals.
I would appreciate any feedback the Adobe Forums can give me; please note that I cannot post a sample document at this time as the only document I have is a private work document (cannot share those by policy, so I will have to make up a fake document if I get the time and energy).
Thank you very much for your time and expertise. The pertient info is above and below in "Original Message" and "Activities section" - the other information is there if you'd like to look. And to provide feedback to Adobe about things I think they could improve, since they will not let me email them directly.
    ----Original Message----
My question concerns the reading of Footers / Headers in Microsoft Word 2007 and Adobe Acrobat (headers/footers designed in Microsoft Word 2007 and then converted to PDF with "Bookmark" checked in Adobe Acrobat conversion settings).
The document is a word document containing 50+ pages. There are 12 pages of "front matter" that are marked with Roman numerals. Subsequently, the body text of the document has an Arabic number (1, 2, 3, 4, etc.) in the bottom right corner. Footers are used properly in the document. All Table of Contents links, which do link to both headings in the "front matter" and to headings in the body text, are picked up properly. Literately, the only thing not reading on the document are page numbers (the Word Status bar is reading its page numbers, but the page numbers in the footer are not reading).
I then need to convert the document to Adobe Acrobat PDF. Granted, I have a full copy of Adobe Acrobat X available to me, and my various assistive technologies have always functioned better when opened directly in Acrobat (rather than Adobe Reader). So, I set the accessibility options (from Word) properly, asking it to bookmark Headers and Footers as appropriate, thinking that this will pick up the page numbers and make them read as the bottom right corner of my PDF.
All links work in Adobe to navigate by section/heading. All figures are alt tagged. Everything is perfect - but the one thing that NVDA won't read are the page numbers. Visually, the page numbers are there on the document, but NVDA won't pick them up. Additionally, I also changed the appropriate page numbers in Adobe (Page Thumbnail Pane, on the Navigation Pane I believe it is called) - to reflect the section where it is Roman numerals and Arabic numerals. This did not help, and for what it is worth, I cannot get NVDA to voice when I am in this pane, so I don't seem to have a chance of getting the page number info from there.
NVDA reads the document just fine except for the above-mentioned snare. However, when it reads, it will go to the next page, and say, "Page 2 of 54, (page text), Page 3 of 54 (page text)," etc. when I will need it to say Page ii of 54 (page text), Page iii of 54 (page text)," and so on, changing to "Page 1" when the Arabic numbers are used.
I know that the Page Label issue is part of Adobe's issue, with them not releasing the PageLabel aspect. (I have looked through some NVDA tickets). I do not know how to put a "changeset" into my copy of NVDA though, or even if it would help (I have no computer scripting skill). The easy answer would be to upgrade to Adobe Reader XI and see if that helps, but I don't have the ability to put it on every computer I use, and *I need this file to read consistently across multiple versions of Adobe* (including Adobe Reader/Acrobat 9, X, and XI). (This file is also going out to people who may not have the latest version of Adobe, but are also running some copy of NVDA, either a portable or a full install).
Is there any way to pick up the Footers with page numbers voicing in NVDA, and/or have it read the user-editable page number box that is on Adobe's Toolbar (next to the 1 of 54 parentheses). This user-editable box, to jump to page numbers, reflects the Roman numerals I have loaded into the pages of Adobe. When I press Ctrl+Shift+N in Adobe, I can also go to the appropriate page (if I type in iii, it will take me to iii, if I type in 34, it will take me to the Arabic number 34 -- NOT the 34 of 54, which would land me on a different page. And I want to land on the page that has the Arabic 34, so that's functioning fine.
I just need the page numbers in the footer to voice, "Page iii," or "Page iv," or "Page 29," etc. If I could get NVDA to do that, I could say to viewers of this document, "If you are using NVDA, remember to Ctrl+Shift+N to get the GoTo Box, then type in the page number you want if you cannot follow a link or a bookmark." This document is *very* accessible in my opinion with lots of ways to navigate...the only aspect of navigation that isn't being picked up are those footer page numbers!
I do have my Document Formatting settings on the NVDA menu set to "Report Headers," but that does not seem to help in either Microsoft Word 2007 or Adobe Acrobat. I have even switched the page numbers from the footer to the header to see if that would help and it didn't.
    ----Activities I have done today----
I spent over an hour on the phone today with Freedom Scientific (makers of JAWS) trying to troubleshoot this. We discovered that Footers will not read very well in JAWS and Microsoft Word 2007 (only solution is to stop reading document text and read Virtual Viewer text briefly, then go back out to document text, then back into Virtual Viewer which is NOT an acceptable or accessible solution whatsoever -- too much work for someone trying to read the document) -- and then we also discovered that:
Upon conversion from Word 2007 to .txt file (.docx to .txt), there are no alt tags for the figures in the document, or page numbers.
Upon conversion from Word 2007 to Adobe Acrobat X then to .txt file, every insert of a page number and footer is replaced with the same alt numberpad numerical code: the one that generates female. ♀No wonder JAWS and NVDA are skipping this, neither understand how to communicate it.
On the advice of JAWS Technical Support I contacted Microsoft Accessibility Technical Support and spent an hour on the phone with them. They say that unless Adobe can find a solution, it appears that it is impossible for Microsoft products to read the footer if JAWS was unsuccessful doing what I wanted it to do. The document/footer in question includes about 12 pages of front matter (numbered in Roman numerals) and 44 pages of body text (numbered in Arabic numerals).
I kindly explained to the Microsoft Support Agent that I found this issue hard to believe, although I understood. Sighted folks have the ability to make their documents look quite professional and that is the caliber and quality of documents anticipated from everyone, especially college students graduating from school, or job applicants. That a coding issue prevents the footer from being read properly, except in Edit view, is disappointing. The representative was with me 100% of the way. She completely understood where I came from. And yes, when I am designing the document myself, I know what I put there (or I pretty much do, anyway). But if I recieve a document, it is much harder to tell what is really there or not, or how the page numbers really lay. And this is confusing as heck, believe me.
I then called Adobe Technical Support, after having a brief online chat with them. Granted, I had to leave the chat in the middle because I got interuptted by something that was high-priority, but the woman chatting from Adobe says that chat is only for installation issues, and I will have to pay to open a support ticket. Excuse me? I have paid a hefty sum of money for Adobe Acrobat 9 and Adobe Acrobat X (work paid for the other Acrobat X copy). I deserve this problem to be troubleshooted for free. There was even a statement on the Adobe Acrobat X website that said Acrobat X users didn't have to pay for support, but Reader users did.
----Slight bit of rant and constructive criticism----
In speaking with Adobe Technical Support, I had to wait on hold for 30 minutes before my call was answered, and then I had to consent to being on hold countless times and had to answer, "Yes, I am converting from Word 2007 to PDF using Adobe Acrobat X" at least 6 times. The representative would put me on hold, then ask me the question, then put me on hold again, repeated 6 times over 45 minutes. At the end of 45 minutes (1 hour and 20 minutes of wasted time by now, that I must justify to my employer) - I told the representative I wanted to speak with his supervisor immediately, I did not care if he was trying to fill out a support ticket (and putting me on hold at least 4 more times in 10 minutes while he claimed he was filling out the support ticket) - and finally he put me on hold again and gave me to a very helpful supervisor. Within 6 minutes of speaking with the supervisor the supervisor had my support ticket filled out and I should recieve a call from Adobe within the next 30 minutes if his estimation was right (he estimated two hours, but it's been an hour and a half).
I have yet to know what can be done about my document. Freedom Scientific Technical Support is closed now for the day and I need to work tomorrow and Friday away from the phone. As I stated to Microsoft Accessibility Support, I truly feel that Adobe should read the page footers, every document says that Adobe should be able to read the page footers, and I feel slighted that as a person who uses assistive technology, there is some glitch that isn't making this happen. I am not blaming a specific place per se, except I am a little frustrated with Adobe especially since they have not gotten back to me, and I am frustrated with their customer service. JAWS customer service and Microsoft customer service were both exemparly, and I cannot say enough good things about them. My wasted time with Adobe however, that was disrespect in my opinion. And I certainly will not pay to open a support ticket, and my workplace has a site license. They've paid enough already.
If you've read this far, thank you. I look forward to replies, or at least understanding. And if anyone has ideas, I'd appreciate it very much (yes, I have tried taking the page numbers off and using Adobe's page number feature, but that would not allow Roman numerals. Only Arabic.).

    Greetings NoNameGiven,
If I understand the problem correctly (I’m not sure I do) you would prefer ‘iii’ to be read as “eye eye eye” rather than “three”? The alt text property is the only way that I know of to make this happen. Hope this helps.

  • Data Federator:  Insufficient memory : Operator 'HashJoin' cannot execute

    Hi,
I'm using: SAP BusinessObjects Data Federator Designer XI 3.0 Service Pack 3 - 12.3.0.0 (Build 1011241842)
I have a virtual view on top of sql server 2007 and teradata.  I am using a view on sql server 2007 that joins against several tables and querying a single table from Teradata.
When I try to query the view I get the error:  [Data Federator Driver] [Server] Insufficient memory : Operator 'HashJoin' cannot execute because it cannot allocate the minimal number of memory pages. Please contact the system administrator to change system parameter settings. (0)
This happens when I try to query the view from data federator or from an odbc connection.
I tried playing with the configuration settings for core.queryEngine.hash.maxPartitions  and
core.queryEngine.hashJoin.nbPartitions  and nothing seemed to work in terms of changing/increasing the numbers.  The help guide also gave no help:  http://help.sap.com/businessobject/product_guides/boexi3SP3/en/xi3_sp3_df_userguide_en.pdf
I was using a very similiar query against a materialized view on Oracle and Teradata before and that worked.  But I'd prefer not to have to materialize the view in Sql Server.
Any thoughts as to how this can be fixed?
    Thanks,
    Kerby

<rant>The strange thing with this forum is no people, really no people, ever do anything to resolve their own problems, even though this forum has a search function, and sites with FAQs and assistance are floating around over the Internet. Why is a mystery, as nobody uses them, and most DBAs only know how to hit copy-and paste, to add to the clutter on OTN again.</rant>
The usual steps to troubleshoot an ora-1031 apply.
    This means
    - verify whether the local administrator is in the ora_dba group and sqlnet.authentication_services in sqlnet.ora has been set to (NTS)
    - in absence of these, there should a password file be present in %ORACLE_HOME%\database, named pw%SID%.ora
These belong to the common documented requirements, and these requirements shouldn't be repeated everywhere.

I have transfered music from my Jukebox2 to my Zen vision by doing a mass transfer i.e. clicked on all music of course it took a couple of hrs to do, some of the music files went into folders by artists then album and a lot of them went straight to the root directory of the Zen (very annoying, and was part of the problem?for?the other post I put up), i deleted all of them and just tried to do an artist at a time however all the songs went to the root directory again, so now I have found that only a few songs from each album has been stored in the Zen correctly and I have to compare each albums songs and do a tranfer that way skipping all duplicates, a very long task there has to be an easier way or a fix for this problem.

The Zen vision and other newer MP3/Video players are MTP devices.
This is a change from older style MP3 players that where just a flash device that plugged in, and when you copied files you copied them to a FAT6/32 file system.
With the newer devices the MTP protocol "tells" the device about the file and recommends where to store it.
But ultimately the computer is issolated from directly accessing the file system on the device.
(Personally I think this was done as Microsoft has started to enforce their FAT file system patents, and the media players wanted to get away from using a FAT file system.)??What does this mean:? Well it means you see the issues you are seeing now.
Depending on how you are "viewing" the media player device sometimes you are actually seeing a representation of the directory structure on the multimedia device, and other times you are seeing a "view" of how the device "thinks" you want to see your content.
If you don't have any ID3 tags on music, it often "appears" to be in a root folder when the music is viewed/listed on the device, as the system doesn't know where to put the file in the "virtual" view of the file system.
If it is tagged with artist/album etc....you tend to see the Artist/Album/Song view. Many of the media transfer applications try to "cook the books" and force the music into specific folders, or modify tags to maintain a standard view of the music on the device.
Unfortuantly this means that if you try to transfer content using two different tools "Creative Mediasource Organizer" vs. "WMP" you can end up with duplicate files as discussed in other threads. What can you do about it:Use the Creative Media toolbox tool to clean up the audio tags for yoru files, or at least the ones that don't seem to be getting "put" into the right place.
Unfortunatly I have not found an easier way of really taking care of this, and the same problem occured on my sansa as well as my Zen Vision M. So I know its not a creative labs specific problem.
The only way I have been able to get consistant organization and view s of files is to clean up the artists/album tags prior to transfer to the device, and?always use the same media transfer application. I would check out the file tagging on the files that are not getting put into the correct directories, and my best guess would be they have partial or incomplete tags that don't include the full artists/album/title information.
