Hello,
i have a vi that has 25 'draw oval's' in the bolck diagram , this is interfaced with a microcontroller via RS232. The microcontroller is sending data continiousl. when I run the VI There is a big delay in reception by thhe draw oval vi's . WHen I used the same vi but with simple booleans (Leds) instead iof draw oval it works fine. All I am trying to do is read three bytes of data , creat an image (any format) and then save them in a directory. Attached is the VI (downconverted to 2012v) that I am having problems in when run through VISA. ANy help will be appreciated.

VISA issues when switching from Labview 5.0 to 8.5

Hello all
I am using a pressure transducer that I read using RS-232. In Labview 5.0 I used the Read Serial VI and it worked with no issues (I also tested it with the VISA from 5.0 with no problems either). Now I have upgraded to 8.5 and I seem unable to communicate with it anymore. The usual error I get when i try to read is a timeout error.
I ran the Troubleshooting Serial Line Monitor VI and it seems to work (RI blinks when the output lines are off, DCD RI and CTS blink when DTR is on, and RI DSR and CTS blink when RTS is pushed) The Basic Read and Write VI does not work however. Whenever I get bytes at port it always returns 0. I am using a USB-RS232 converter but this problem remains when I tried using an RS232 port on another computer running 8.2.
I recently added the VISA 4.3 drivers but this did not help.

This morning I tried with both the DOS prompt and Indigo terminal emulator. I also checked the setting on my manometer and the manual says that the settings should be:
Baud Rate: 9600
Parity: None
Auto Line Feed: Yes
Margin: 0
Decimal Point: "."
Send EOF: Yes
I then followed the instructions to set the port with MODE COM5:9600,N,8,1,P and it returned
transfer rate: 9600
parity: none
databits: 8
stop bits:1
timeout: on
XON/XOFF: OFF
CTS-handshaking: ON
DSR-handshaking: ON
DSR-sensitivity: OFF
DTR cycle: Handdhake
RTS cycle: Handshake
Then when I try to log the data with COPY COM5 log.txt it creates a txt file on my desktop with no information.
I checked the parameters on the old Labview 5.1 (not 5.0 as I said earlier) computer and they were

Flow Control XON Characcter: 0

Those were the only parameters available in the Serial Settings Node
With 8.5 I got all the same except
End Mode for Reads: None (when I changed it to TermChar, it didn't help)
XON: 17
XOFF: 19
There were many many more modem line settings but I didn't include them because they weren't in Labview 5.1

Chase MasterCard issues with Apple Pay

I read back when Apple Pay was first rolling out, that only VISA issued Chase cards are comparable, but that MasterCard access would be added in March. It's now the second half of March, and I'm still not able to add my Chase debit card to Apple Pay. MasterCard's website says their cards work with Apple Pay. Chase's website says their credit & debit cards work with Apple Pay, yet my Chicago Bears debit card will not be added. It's extremely frustrating, and I'm curious when this will be able to be used.

You're not addressing Apple here. This is a user-to-user tech support. At the bottom right of every page is a "Contact Us" link with other Apple contact information. Perhaps something there will be of use. However, given the short supply, I wouldn't hold my breath if I were you.

Lacie FW 800 PCMCIA card low speed in Vista

I have a Lacie FW 800 pcmcia card - whith on my old Toshiba Qosmio would give me read speeds of greater than 50Mb per seconds. Now with my lovely new Satellite and Vista it barely reads @ 7Mbs and writes at a pathetic 2Mbs. Any idea's before I get rid of Vista as a waste of time.

Well, its not easy to say if its a PCMCIA slot issue or Vista issue.
But I have noticed that some users have had a slow PCMCIA performance with Vista on different notebooks series. So I tending to say its a Visa issue.
But it would also very interesting to know the performance with XP and then to compare the both results.

Issue with adop fs_clone after upgrade to R12.2.3 on VIS instance

I have installed EBS R12.2.0 Vision instance on Oracle Linux Server release 6.5 x86-64 with Unbreakable Enterprise Kernel release 3 (3.8.13-16.2.2.el6uek.x86_64) and then updated to R12.2.3. Everything went smooth with the initial install, the AD and TXK patches, and the adop patching cycle for 12.2.3 update. I'm having an issue with the running fs_clone which is the first post-update step from doc 1586214.1. The other adop phases ran OK see below. Also below is the error I'm getting and want to know if anyone has experienced this or any ideas? I've googled and searched MOS but can't find a direct hit. I'm new to adop and struggling to troubleshoot this....any help would be appreciated. I've run the fs_clone phase a couple times but got the same result.

Looks like you need to add more space to /tmp directory as I see the following entries in CLONE*.error file.

An issue (bug?) with Config File VIs?!

Hello to all!
When using Config File VIs I encountered a very interesting
and killing (me) issue.
I spent an hour before I knew where's a bug.
(Maybe because I'm a novice to LabView).
From one side, the bug was mine: I used a "for loop" to write string values to keys in section and provided to the loop an array that could be empty sometimes. And I absolutely forgot that "for loop" executes at least one time anyway even if array is empty.
Ok, no problem, then the function "Write Key" should say "ERROR" and I would find my bug at once on the output of my "for loop".
BUT IT DOESN'T DO IT. It says "OK".
And only the next function "write key (string value in my case)"
fails saying "Error: Config Data Registry.vi [get data]: invalid object 0". I certainly think that something wrong with this "write key", but what means this message?!
Ok, I found who responds for this (the previous "write key" in for loop).
But the most interesting thing is that if you set after this bad "for loop" one more such "for loop" you don't get error on the output of the 2nd "for loop" too. It appears only after "write key" that goes after 2nd "for loop".
Well, forget it. Just look at attached files.
Something wrong in this "Write Key" function if error goes far beyond its real source of arrising.
Are you agreed? Or maybe I'm wrong?

Hi Ben, this was a good hint, last time I had problems with that zero iteration issue, I worked with LV 6.1 and kept in mind, that the shift register output was the last value stored in the Shift register output node, it reminded to the use of an uninitialized SR. If somebody still has 6.1 on the machine, it would be nice to test this. But the test with 7.1 showed you are right, the SR- input is reached through. Great!

VISA Read timing issues

I am using an RS232 to control an older model Power Supply (OXFORD PS 120-10).
I have successfully written several VI's that all work, the only problem is that VISA Read takes WAY too long. I'm talking 10's of seconds to refresh. I need it have it refreshing in milliseconds or at least tens of seconds for the measurements we need. All of the VI's I have written have the same timing issue.
Attached is the most basic Serial Read/Write VI. Is there any way to improve the Read rate? Or might this just be an instrumentation issue. The strange thing is the Write commands work almost instantaneously (I can seem them on the instruments display).
Please help if you can, I've only been working with LabVIEW for a few weeks and am very must still in the learning process.

Do you have the communications protocol for the power supply? If you do not have everything right, you will have problems with communications.
Tens of seconds is a clue that you may be getting timeout errors because the default timeout is 10 seconds. Try placing an inidicator on the error out wire inside the loop (after Read) to see if an error occurs on any iteration. The way you have the VI set up you only see the error on the last iteration of the loop.
You are writing a carriage return to the instrument. If it requires that, it almost certainly sends a carriage return with the response. (This is why I asked about the protocol). If the instrument sends a carriage return (or other termination character), then you should Enable Termination Character on the Configuration VI and set the termination character to the correct value. The default is line feed (hex A or decimal 10). A carriage return is hex D or decimal 13. You must wire the numeric value to the termination character input for any value other than the default. Then change the byte count value (at the Read input) to a number larger than the longest message the instrument will ever send, perhaps 100 or 500. The Read will end as soon as the termination character is received, regardless of the number of characters.
I suspect that this is the problem - the instrument sends fewer than 10 characters in most messages but does send a termination character.

VISA Debt Card Issued in Mexico and pick the items up at store.

I live in Mexico and plan to travel to Chula Vista CA., I want to buy some items on November 27th, but they aren't available to pick up at Store by now. I plan to travel to USA between December the 5th and 7th. Is there any possibility to buy the items and to pick them up at store 188 Chula Vista on that dates? Another question. Do you accept payments with my international Visa Debt Card? I don't have a Credit Card. Or maybe I can pay when I pick up the items at store with that Debt Card. Could you please send me your comments? I will appreciate them and also your help. Thank you very much.

Actually that is the store I work at and we certainly get quite a bit of international traffic. I can safely say we do accept valid Visa Credit cards even if they are issued in another country. Though as a warning I would reccomend calling the issuing bank before your trip to allow the card to be used.
Sometimes bank cards from Mexico are flagged as susspicious seing as cards are typically not used in other countries, calling the bank first should be able to clear it for such use. The currency is automatically converted.
If you are going pick up an item in store you must have a valid ID and passports are accepted, also when placing the order you must use a special address as the billing address as the forms online do not allow Mexican addresses to be used. The address to use is as follows.

Labview visa write issue

I have an instrument with rs232 interface, when I use UartAssist tool to send the command, the instrument could receive successful.
but, when I start my labview application to use visa control, and send the exactly same command, there's no response.
I trace the error during my control, there's no error occured after send command(send successful), but the instrument didn't response.
I'm sure the baudrate and other configuration is right, why the instrument can not response?
BTW, I try using the HyperTerminal to send the same command, the instrument can response too...

You can, but the problem is that when you press "Enter" on the keyboard to enter a new line in a string constant or control what gets entered is a newline character, not a carriage return character. You can see this by setting the display mode of the string constant/control to '\' display mode, as seen here:
You can replace the "n" at the end there with "r" to get a carriage return instead of a newline. Note that you need to be in '\' display mode for this to work correctly.

Apparently HP has stopped updating that application for Firefox. It wasn't available for Firefox 3.6 last year and now - not for 4.0 either.

I have one problem and I think it is a settings issue. When I google the web I get results. Now, when I visit some website and I return to my search results I don't have any markers (diffrent link colour for visited sites in IE).
