Vision Assistant 2014 (and DLL inside of LV) repeatedly crashes while reading multiline OCR

I am working on an OCR application. With certain files (not all) the multiline function just crashes. No questions asked. I set the ROI area to the targeted text and without fail it causes a crash.
Is anyone aware of this problem, and if so is there a solution?
Additional information: My .abc file is from scratch with default settings and trained characters. Nothing in it should be causing the crash. Images are simple scanned jpg files.
Edit: I tested it. Crash still happens without any character set loaded, and no changes to threshold, size, or read options.

I cut out an offending section of one of the files. It is attached. To replicate the error:
1. Load image
2. Identification -> OCR/OCV
3. New Character Set File...
4. Select entire text.

Edit: Posted this before I saw your request On the "Full sized" image, it crashes always - even when it is called from inside of LabVIEW (the DLL crashes then). It is how I noticed the bug - my program kept crashing. Tor this image, it seems to only crash for me inside of the training assistant, but is again reliable.

I would go crazy if this was me. You may find this interesting from the customer agreement (to see full agreement go here:Customer Agreement | Verizon Wireless):

You can dispute any charges by doing an Arbitration or Mediation. I have never done it, so I can not help much there but this all may get you started.

I've downloaded the most recent version. 14 May 2014 and have two lines of repeating symbols appearing above the URL and search bar. How do I fix?

When I hover over the symbols, I'm prompted "Subscribe to This Page..." This only appeared after the last update. The symbols are the same as appear to the right of the search bar, and all the symbols that now appear in the Open Menu feature.

Sounds like an incompatible extension.

I have tried all of the above solutions and I am still getting repeated crashes or messages interrupting anything I am trying to do

At first the messages and crashes were only happening if I tried to play a game (Farmville) on Facebook. Then after a week I started getting the crashes and messages on Facebook. Now I get interrupted and crashes and messages on my Hotmail, Facebook and anything else I try to do. I have done all of the solutions on your site but none of them have stopped this. It did work a bit better when I downgraded the Flash to 10.3. But that only lasted a couple of hours and then I was right back to the way it is now. It makes it very frustrating to try to type an email, answer a friend, check my facebook and god forbid I try to play my game. I have actually gone two days in a row not even being able to get on to the game never mind play it. The message I keep getting is: Shockwave Flash might be busy or it may have stopped responding. You can stop the plug in now or you can see it the plug in will continue. If I don't click the wait button soon enough, then it crashes. If I click the wait button, I might get the same message over and over for almost ten minutes minutes before I can continue. Not only does it freeze the game, but it also freezes the computer. I can't get off, I can't go open another tab, if I have my emails open doesn't matter because everything freezes and I can't continue with anything until it stops. I am really sick and tired of this, its been going on for so long but it used to happen once maybe in half an hour, now what used to take me an hour to do on the computer can take upto 8 hours and thats only checking my game, email, etc., once. I used to be able to go on in the morning for an hour and then back on a night for an hour or so before bed. Not now. Please help, I don't know what else to do

Vision Assistant Code Generator to maintain Calibration File Reference

In Vision Assistant 2014 SP1, the "Create LabVIEW VI" function does not create a calibration file path in the generated code, for the Image Calibration function. Instead it reads in all of the calibration information and sets these to constants (or controls if selected it in the wizard) in the generated code. It would be good if this maintained a reference to the template.

There is no reference to the calibration file and we calibrate "on the fly", when the calibration method is "Point Distance Calibration" (Simple Calibration), because there is no learning associated with this method and the time it takes to calibrate the image with this method is instantaneous.
If you choose any of the other methods, the code generated will point to the calibration file saved, and the code generated will apply the calibration from the template file to the current image, without relearning it, for optimization purposes.
This was a design decision, and unfortunately, there is no workaround at this time for the simple calibration case.

Access jar's and dll's whithin a single jar file???

Hello everybody!
I am building an application which is dependent on external jar and dll files. I would like to put these external files in my project jar, and in runtime I want to set the path to these files located in my project jar. Is this possible? I have tried this:
structure in my project jar:
-myApp.jar
+META-INF
-myApp
-Main.class
external.jar
external.dll
and in my manifest file:
Manifest-Version: 1.0
Ant-Version: Apache Ant 1.6.2
Created-By: 1.4.2_01-b06 (Sun Microsystems Inc.)
Main-Class: myApp.Main
Class-Path: /external.jarWhen I try to run my application jar with:
java -jar myApp.jarI get "java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError" .....
i.e. the WM does not find my external jar.
My question now: Is it possible to do things this way? That is to put dependent jars and dlls INSIDE the "running" jar????

You cannot put a JAR inside a JAR - Java won't be able to find the files in the packaged JAR.
What you could do is unpack the myApp.jar and external.jar and include the directory structure inside your own project.jar.
It will not work with a DLL inside the JAR. There's no way around it - the DLL must be a file in the file system, otherwise Windows will not be able to load it (Windows doesn't know what JAR files are, and it can't load a DLL that's inside a JAR file).

But I have a need to also run C++ .exe and .dll file from my Java application.
I wonder if someone could please tell me how to package/include C++ .exe and
.dll files in my Java web start application?

You need to place the EXE and DLLs inside the jar.
Java cannot execute them from the jar. They have to be extracted (see Class.getResourceAsStream) from the jar and copyied into the target machine file system, perahps to the temp directory. Now you can execute them using Runtime.exec() or ProcessBuilder.start().

NI Vision Assistant - "Create LabVIEW VI" produces a blank VI

Hello, I'm using:
- LabVIEW 2011 SP1 v11.0.1 32bit
- Vision Assistant 2011 SP1 Build 20111212112331
When I create a simple script in Vision Assistant and click on "Create LabVIEW VI", the VI file is created, but when I open it, I can only see a blank VI.
I really hope someone could help me, I don't know how to solve this problem.

Hi Claudio, I added the following Express VI in a blank block diagram, like you suggested:
"Prompt User for Input"
"Vision Acquisition"
No error messages appeared after having placed them in the block diagram, or after their configuration.
However, if I place a "Vision Assistant" Express VI, I still receive the following message error after having configured it:
"There was an error in the process of creating the Express VI's code"
Moreover, I tried to repair the following modules, in sequence:
NI Vision Common Resources 2011 SP1 f1
NI Vision Assistant 2011 SP1
NI Vision 2011 SP1
For each of the 3 reparations, I had to reboot the PC. However, the problem hasn't disappeared, I'm still unable to generate a VI by using Vision Assistant.
I really hope to solve this annoying problem, because the day of my exam is getting closer... so suggestions are more than appreciated, at this point I don't know how I could fix that.
In attachment you can find a simple Vision Assistant script, and the blank VI produced. Please note that Vision Assistant always produces a blank VI, no matter of the script, like I stated earlier.
A final note, I tried to generate C and .NET code for the script in attachment while using Vision Assistant, and it seemed to work (no message errors or blank C/.NET files produced), so this is a problem related to LabVIEW code generation only.

Rewrite template vision assistance for image match

hey guys , im using labview to detect an image and record its x-y coordinates.
does anybody know how i can automatically change , in runtime, the template used to match .
i get my template from the Vision Assistant Block

Hey Kevin,
If you configure the Vision Assistant block and place it on your block diagram, you can then right click on it and select "Open Front Panel."
This shows you the LabVIEW code that the Express VI is running behind the scenes. From here you can find any parameters you have set, put down as constants. So for example, the file path you chose for the template is on the block diagram as a file path constant.
You can right click on this and change it to a control, and then link this control to the connector pane

After saving this VI, and closing it, you will notice some changes to your main VI. Firstly the vision assistant block will have changed colour to yellow, and secondly, it will have one more input added to the bottom (if you drag it down) which is for the control you set in the subVI.
The attached example then adds a case structure to select the file path you want to use as a template during runtime. It would be better practice to use an event structure, but hopefully this works for demonstrative purposes.

Vision assistant 2009 fluorescence

Hello, I've just installed Vision Assistant 2009, and would like to ask how else can I use it to analyse fluorescence images (for example fluorescently labeled beads) besides the functions taught in the tutorial?
Those in the tutorial only highlighted treshold in grayscale and a few others, how do I do a color intensity analysis for example?
The tutorial also did not provide the instructions on using the "color" tab and other functions which I assume is useful in trying to analyse fluorescence.

I don't think there's tutorial on every function available, but you can refer to Start>>All Programs>>National Instruments>>Vision Assistant 2009>>Vision Assistant Help on how to use these functions.

2 line carplate number recognition using vision assistant software

I am doing FYP(Final Year Project). I am using national instruments vision assistant 2010 and want to recognize car plate number.
I already try out single line car plate number ready. Now my probelm is cannot recognize 2-line car plate number. I also still trying auto detect the car palte number and recognize the car palte number. I don't want to manuals select the car plate number. please find out for me solutions.

Hello,
using simple calibration model, you realize that you disregard the lens distortion? It is also advisable that the camera is perpendicular to the inspected object. Here, a telecentric lens helps too.
The simple calibration performs direct conversion from pixels to real-world units. For example, if you know a real world object that you measure is 10 mm in size and it occupies 10 pixels on the image, then the conversion factor is 10mm/10pix = 1mm/pix.
So, you want to measure an object with size U (in pixels), you use the equation:
X = 1mm/pix * U (note that this is for horizontal direction, vertical direction is analogous)

Different calculation between vision 6.1 and 7

Hi there,
I've made an particle analysis in vision assistant 7 and searched for the perimeter of a special particle. If I do the same procedure with the same picture in vision builder 6.1, there's a different value (This one is larger than the value in Vision 7).
Does anyone know, what changes in calculating the perimeter have been done between those 2 revisions? Or could there be other reasons for different solutions?

Vision 7.0 introduced "IMAQ Particle Analysis" which replaces "IMAQ Complex Particle". "IMAQ Particle Analysis" uses a different algorithm to calculate the perimeter that is generally more accurate than that used by "IMAQ Complex Particle". If you could post an image containing the particle in question I would certainly like to take a look at it.

HP Support Assistant - Uninstalled and Reinstalled - Now it won't Work at all!

My HP Support Assistant was sticking on Creating Restore Point. Well, I followed your instructions for this that was posted in numerous other threads and uninstalled HP Support Assistant and re-installed it, and now it won't do anything. It opens up and the NEXT button is not highlighted so if I click on it nothing happens...it's totally worthless now. What can I do to make it work again??? HELP!! (see image below - all I can do is minimize, enlarge or close that screen. NEXT button does nothing!)
My computer is only 1 year old and I run Windows 8 - 64 bit. Never had a problem with it before, but tried the Tune up and it was stuck on the restore point, so I followed your instructions, re-booted after un-installing and uninstalling, now it won't do anything. I also tried restoring HP Support Assistant from the Recovery Manager and it's still doing the same thing - nothing. How am I supposed to get my updates now???
I have an HP Pavilion p6 2310. I haven't installed Windows 8.1, it's just Windows 8. Thank you.

As per Apple Norway, as the case has been registered before the expiry of the warranty, Apple India to accept the warranty as well and get the set repaired under warranty. Thank you.
