Vista + SB Audigy + Inspire 5300 5.1 Analog Speakers = Only 2.1 - HELP!!!

I have updated the driver for my Sound Blaster Audigy for Vista but I can't change the speakers to 5.1, it jumps back to 2/2.1.
I can't understand what the problem is? It used to work fine under WinXP.
Connections are fine and correct. I need some advice, please help!

DevNull7,
You may need to enable certain settings within your sound card to upmix the Stereo to 5.1. Check with your sound card support for further information. They should be able to assit you on this.

  • SPDIF and Analog Speakers

I must not be understanding SPDIF properly. I thought that was a digital signal. Many people using Audigy cards have been making the SPDIF connection thier default to eliminate buzzing in Windows 7. When I do this, I get no sound, in Vista or Windows 7, but I have analog speakers on an Audigy 4, so this is what I expected. Am I missing something? How are these people getting sound when they select SPDIF out? They have analog speakers too.

It may because you're using Win 7 x64.
The Audigy's spdif doesn't work in x64 OS's at the moment...
Doesn't matter whether it works or not, he said he has analogue speakers and gets no sound when he sets it to SPDIF. Wonder why that is
momalle you want to use SPDIF you need to use digtial speakers (which is an oxymoron as the only thing digital about them is the connection) that use a digital connection via SPDIF.

  • Audigy 1 / Inspire 5300: Right front speaker is

    Hallo
Tried the search function but didn't find something similar.
I noticed that I have an issue with the right front channel on my good old Audigy . After some testing (switching speakers) I realised that the speaker works just fine. When I play, for example, music in Winamp I hear music coming out of all speakers which is good.
However, when I execute Creative's speaker testing program I hear nothing coming out of the front right speaker. Also when playing a game (in my case Half Life 2) I hear nothing coming out of the front right speaker.
Speaker problem? Doubt so... cause music plays just fine in Winamp.
Could it be a card problem? If so, how come Winamp plays music fine through that channel?
I haven't tried reinstalling the drivers though because I have no access to the Internet until october 27. I will redownload the driver from my workplace (which I'm also posting at the moment) burn it on cd and try that. Could that help?
If not, would a new card help? Audigy 2 isn't really expensi've anymore. Could it also be something in the bass speaker? Or is that out of the question?
    Thanks in advance.

I think MP3 or Audio CDs or DVD Mpeg sound recordings will not produce any multichannel sounds unless 2.1. If you play these kind of cds only front left and front right (incld woofer) will produce sounds. To get all the channel worked, you need to play a 5.1 Dolby Digital DVD. Please try this out and reply

  • No sound from rear or center of Inspire 5300 speakers

I have an Audigy 2 Platinum card and an Inspire 5300 speaker system. All was well until a few days when sound only came from the two front speakers. The creative speaker settings tool no longer shows any speaker settings to choose from. Windows allows me to choose 5.1 setting, but of course it doesn't work. I re-installed the latest drivers and media go! software but problem persisits. I ran the diagnostic tool and I received the following error: "NTWriteWordConfig-CONFIG_READWORD". Could this be the cause of my problem, and if so, how can I fix it's Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks

    i have a similar problem
in my case the problem is with the front c/sub,i have no output on the sub.
it would be surely great if someone could throw a look at this and help out...

  • Creative Inspire 5300 5.1 Problems - Only Two Speakers Work 100%

I recently purchased the Creative Inspire 5300 5.1 speaker system for my home computer, thinking that a low-end setup would work fine until I gathered the resources to trade them in for something better. Upon hooking them up though I find that they do not work as I was led to believe. The front two corner speakers and subwoofer work fine, just as they would if they were a 2.1 setup, however the center and back speakers make no noise. I know I have them hooked up correctly as I can go into my onboard soundcard?s setup program and test them individually, but in actually practice they do nothing. Not with games or movies that are supposedly 5.1 enabled.
I'm clueless as to what the problem may be. Is it that I need a Creative brand soundcard, that may Abit motherboard and it'ss built-in soundcard are unable to establish the proper frequencies or whatnot? Perhaps I do not have the appropriate surround sound drivers installed? Any help would be vastly appreciated.

  • Microphone stuttering - Vista x64 & Audigy 2 ZS

    3Microphone stuttering - Vista x64 & Audigy 2 ZS? Hello,
since I've got no reply in the support pack thread, I post this new topic.
There is an issue with the microphone port of the Audigy 2 ZS running on Windows Vista 64-bit (SP2).
Voice input randomly begins to stutter after some uptime and only a restart of the computer temporarily fixes this problem - until the distortion occurs again.
I've tried many different driver versions (including the latest v2.8.000), but nothing changed. It seems only the 64-bit edition of Vista is affected by this.
At last an additional post, quoted from zan2828 in the support pack thread:
    Daniel_K,
Being that you are extremely familiar with Creative's drivers, I figured it would be best to address my question to you.
Are you aware of the microphone robotic voice issue with the Audigy 2 in Vista? I use x64 so I am unsure if this problem exists in 32-bit. Basically, every so often the microphone will stop accepting voice inputs properly, and the resulting output will either be filled with static, or sound like a robot.
The problem exists in voice chat programs (Steam, Ventrilo) and also the Windows Sound Recorder. A reboot will fix it but the problem comes back. A quick "Reset to Defaults" in the Control Panel sound options will sometimes fix it, but not always.
Is there something you can modify in the driver to fix it's If not, do you know exactly what is wrong with the code? If you cannot fix it, hopefully Creative will, but I'm not getting my hopes up.
    Thanks.

Re: Microphone stuttering - Vista x64 & Audigy 2 ZS? About the robotic microphone, and all issues occuring specifically on to x64 Systems:
[url="http://connect.creativelabs.com/windows/Lists/Audigy%20Issues/DispForm.aspx?ID=37&Source=http%3A%2F%2Fconnect.cr eativelabs.com%2Fwindows%2FLists%2FAudigy%2520Issu es%2FAllItems.aspx">Creative Labs: Connect > Beta - Windows > Audigy Issues > Issue affecting Audigy and X-Fi on systems with 4GB RAM or more[/url]
When using a Sound Blaster Audigy 2 series or X-Fi series sound card in a 64-bit Windows system with four gigabyte (4GB) RAM or more, various issues can be experienced. Often sound playback becomes jittery, choppy and noisy and recording fails to work. Sometimes you can record sound, but it's horribly noisy and scratchy. This happens with the latest 64-bit drivers for both product series, under Windows XP 64-bit, Vista 64-bit and Windows 7 RC 64-bit and other 64-bit Windows operating systems. The issue goes away if the computer can see only 32-bit amounts of RAM, as in 4GB of address space minus PCI addressing. On a 64-bit system with 4GB of RAM installed, disabling Memory Hole Remapping in the BIOS makes the issue go away, since there is no RAM amount above the memory hole address space. Consequently, disabling Memory Hole Remapping on a 64-bit system with more than 4GB of RAM does not solve the issue, since there is RAM above the 32-bit limit of address space. Many users have reported varying issues most likely relating to this, such as noisy input and output, corrupted audio and a complete loss of EAX and ALchemy functionality under all 64-bit Windows operating systems. Consider this report a collected issue observation for 64-bit Windows systems with more than 4GB of RAM installed and usable. This is a serious issue, affecting all 64-bit Windows systems. It is severely hurting customer trust and the Sound Blaster brand.

  • Creative inspire 5300 poping help please help

HI all i have had the Creative inspire 5300 for 2 years now on the same pc nothing changed and worked perfectly until now.
now the last 4 weeks i am getting poping thud sounds from all speckers at diffrent times it looks like a interferance problem. I think
I have a surge protector which did not help so i was woundering if my 5300 are broken as thay should have a protector built into the sub for sound interferance i would of thought.
is this a comon problem with these 5300 over time ?
thay still work and sound great but the poping thud is making me mad and not only that thay do this when the pc is turned off so its the speackers that are doing it
i have a asus motherboard this one
    http://uk.asus.com/products4.aspx?l=...=58&modelmenu=
also would the Creative inspire T7900 work on this motherboard as it has an onboard sound card which has High Definition Audio Enjoy high-end sound system on your PC! The onboard 8-channel HD audio (High Definition Audio, previously codenamed Azalia) CODEC enables high-quality 92KHz/24-bit audio output, jack-sensing feature, retasking functions and multi-streaming technology that simultaneously sends different audio streams to different destinations. You can now talk to your partners on the headphone while playing a multi-channel network games. All of these are done on one computer. The Dolby Digital Live technology from Dolby Lab encodes the multi-channel audio source into AC-3 bit-stream and outputs it to S/PDIF port in real time.
    thanks for any help

    Hi,
I have the same problem, I also have a Asus motherboard. Recently they did a massive pop sound and turned off, then all i got was a lot of feedback noise. Is this a problem with the mboard rather than the speakers?

  • Analog speakers and my Mac Pro

Mac Pro and analog speakers that have those copper wire cables.
I've got an analog stereo receiver with analog speakers. I wanted to plug my speakers 'somehow' into my Mac Pro. Can anybody recommend some solutions ?
    thanks.

Check some reviews on the hi-fi link. I know very little about computers, but sound I'm okay. If the other solutions aren't working, this is actually pretty good. I've got an $8000 system with B&W speakers, and it's not easy to tell the difference between my computer with hi-fi link and the CD player. You don't need to store your music in lossless format either: AAC is fine.
The speakers are the critical component in your sound. If you already have good speakers, you'll notice a big drop-off going to computer speakers unless you spend a lot of money. If your cheap desktop speakers are the best you have, then computer speakers might be able to compete.

  • Audigy 2 + Logitech Z680 speakers, only center channel and sub work

I have an audigy 2 and logitech z680 speakers, and only the center channel and sub are working. I have tried reinstalling drivers, unplugging and replugging everything, i even moved the soundcard to a different pci port. Whenever i try to install any creative things, it tells me that it cannot find any required components. (anything creative). If anyone has had a similar problem or can help, i could use any help i can get. Thanks!
Also, i recently moved the whole system from school to home, and since then it hasn't been working correctly.
    Thanks

Ok, so now I tried to play a DVD movie with my DVD-drive. Before I got this new Audigy sound card and SBS 580 speakers, movies would run almost fine, as in the video and sound would be smooth unless there was a great deal of action occurring, in which case it would be slightly choppy. But now, the video seems to change pace, occasionally stopping entirely for a few seconds, then running again, but slowly, then running normal, then becoming choppy, stopping again, and so on. Also, the sound does the same, sounding almost normal one second and choppy the next. But the biggest deal is the fact that I don't hear any speech! I read somewhere that the center channel handles speech in video playback, and without it I can't hear any talking.
Is the subwoofers center channel broken and should I go get another set with the warranty, or whats the problem?

  • No 5.1 audio in Vista on Audigy 2

Installed the latest drivers (dated July 8th, 2008) on Vista Business 32-bit (card is Audigy 2 ZS). Used Creative Audio Console to change to 5. (I have Logitech Z-5500 ). When I do the test all speakers work EXCEPT the center channel. Tried to play a movie (and a game too - Crysis) and the center channel is indeed missing in action. What gives?

You'll probably not like my response, but honestly those speakers sound MUCH better through an Optical or Coax signal.
The main benefit of using something like an X-Fi Platinum/Elite (to me at least) is that you gain the digital connections allowing you to use an external decoder (which is on the Z-5500) to decode the signal. Unfortunately, the Audigy 2 ZS cannot do this.
As far as getting the analog channels to work correctly on those speakers, I remember having trouble with mine, and I think that's why I went the digital route initially (since it can pass a raw signal to an external decoder).
Perhaps someone else will have a suggestion, but I could not get it to work basically.

  • Audigy 2 ZS, 7.1 creative speakers, vista probl

Hello everyone, I just acquired a new desktop with windows vista home premium (32bit) installed on it and I have a Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS sound card(from my previous computer) that I installed on it as well as a Creative 7. (Inspire P7800) set of speakers. I downloaded the latest vista driver for the Audigy 2 ZS from the Creative website and I managed to install it and have the audio console work. However, my 2 rear speakers and my subwoofer would not work (no sound) when I run the sound test using the audio console. The speakers were configured as 7.. Could anyone help me with that or give me some advices on what I could do to have my 7. system work properly with vista thanks a lot,JM

Thanks very much for the info.
Is this the website where I should be downloading the updates for my audigy?

I have windows vista build 5342 on my desktop which currently has an internal pci audigy 4 card...i installed the "SBAX_PCDVTBETA_US_2_08_0002" driver creative has put out for such audio cards. After i installed, i restarted, and still no audio card installed!! is there something im missing? PLEASE HELP!!!

I've just spent the last 3 days trying to get some kind of sound out of my SB live 24 on build 5384. Nothing! I've tried every conceivable combination of drivers (including the old '05 vista drivers) and still nothing. Now Vista is in an endless loop of booting and "installing device drivers" until it finds nothing and gives up until next boot. Infuriating. Part of the beta process is to see what works and doesn't work on Vista. Well, we know SB's don't work.
