Visual Administrator - define custom properties

Hi,
Is it possible to define custom properties in Visual Administrator & to access these properties from an EJB?
Thanks,
Jeroen

Hi
I think you can do it using Configuration Adapter service of visual administrator

  • Cross Farm: User Profile Custom Properties do not show up in the consumer farm web applications

I have a two SharePoint 2010 farms, one is the publishing farm and user profile service is running on this farm. I have defined a couple of new custom properties, and after a while these custom properties do not show up at the consumer farm end.
So, on the publishing farm, I can udpate the user profiles with values in these custom properties. However, neither the custom properties nor the values got synchronized to the consumer farm. What puzzled me further is that some of the existing custom properties
exist on the consumer farm, but not the new custom properties I recently added.
    1. I have made sure the application pool accounts on both the farms being added to the administrators with full control permission in UPS on the publishing farm.
    2. The User Profile Service proxy (connected to the publishing farm UPS application)  is associated with all the web applications on the consumer farm.
    3. When values in the user profiles on the publishing farm changed, these changes do not get replicated to the consuming farm user profiles. This symptom occurs on both custom and OOB user profile properties.
However, I cannot find any other related information on the web, nor from the ULS logs.

    Hi,
As I understand, it did not display the new custom properties you defined in the publishing farm at the consumer farm end.
    1. Check if the topology Discovery Service Application runs well in consuming farm. In the Central Administration, it is the Application Discovery and load Balancer Service Application, check if it starts.
In the IIS, it is the topology, check if it starts.
    2. Check the permissions have been established if you have established consumer farm permissions on Provider Farm before you publish the service application.
        1. Go to Central Administration and going to “Manage Service Applications”.
        2. Click on “Application Discovery and Load Balancer Service Application” and click “Permissions” from the ribbon.
Your farm GUID should be listed with full permissions.

  • Creating DataSource in Visual Administrator for Oracle DataBase

    Hi Experts,
I want to connect to external Orcle Database from my application(EJbs,Web Dynpro) where i need to call some stored Procedures.for that one i want to create
    DataSource in Visual Administrator.
i got some doubts for  creating DataSource in Visual Administrator
1.which SQL engine i need to use(open SQL or Native SQL or Vendor SQL)
2.shall i need to deploy any additional drivers(jars) in WAS
    any help will be appriciated
    thanks in Advance
    With Regards
    Naidu

I can see you are still looking for answeres, I have included more explicit examples of how to connect to an Oracle DB via an SAP Visual Administrator Datasource.
First the DB has to exist and you should be able to connect to it using some other application to test with like Toad for example.
Secondly for installing the Data Source via Visual Administrator you will need to verify that you have a an Database Driver defined in the Visual Admin first, if not define one. Defining an oracle driver is as simple as providing an alias name for the driver and supplying the Oracle classses.jar, or ojdbc14.jar. Click Create Driver in the Visual Admin enter an alias name  and click Browse to find one of the jar files mentioned above. Once done click the diskette looking icon to save.
After the above 2 steps you can either define the Datasource manually in the Visual Administrator or Import the datasource via an xml file as defined below.
I have included a mock datasource.xml file which you can copy and paste and more or less use as  a reference.
    <b>Note</b>
With Oracle I have always sected <b>Vender SQL</b> as I can not get any of the other selections to work properly when connecting to our Oracle DB. I have also used this approach to connect to Oracle 8 databases as well. We have been using these Datasources in production for many years without incident.
    Variables Defined
<b> data-source-name </b> PORTFOLIODS is the name we use to look up the Datasource via JDBC.
<b>driver-name </b>  The name that you have defined for the Oracle jar libary you added as a Database Driver via the Visual Administrator.
<b> url </b>           The "Type 3" Network URL pathname to the Oracle DB.
<b> user </b>        The account you want to log in as.
<b> password </b> The account password for the DB.
    Cheers,
    Alex

  • Configure logs Visual Administrator

    Hello all,
I have a problem related to the size of log files in XI environment.
I access to transaction al11 in XI environment. Then, I access to the folder /usr/sap/XIP/xxx/j2ee/cluster/server0 and I see that there are a lot of jrfc*.trc files of 0,5 GB of size.
I would like to know where can I define those files and how to manage them in order to optimize space in servers.
    Thanks in advance.
    Best regards,
    Gemma

Can you please have a look, which errors are logged in the trace files. If possible, then fix the errors, this will reduce the amount of lines generated. It is possible that somebody activated a rfc trace, this can be done, where the rfc destination is specified. For example SM59, or visual admin -> server0 -> services -> destinations.
To configure the logging of the files in server0/log have a look at this thread: Re: Log file size in SAP Netweaver
Visual Administrator Tool -> Server -> KERNEL -> LogManager:
DefaultTraceFile_Count -> is the number of files
DefaultTraceFile_Limit -> is the size of the files in bytes
Be aware, that usually the log files are not overwritten. They are archived in ..log/archive. To turn this off you can do this here:
Visual Administrator Tool -> Server -> SERVICES-> Log Configurator -> Tab Properties

    Edit: oh, too slow

  • Can't Log into J2EE Engine Visual Administrator

I cannot get logged into our J2EE Engine Visual Administrator on our SAP Portal.  After I enter my userid and password (which I know are valid) I get a progress bar which progresses to approx 50%, then errors out with the message:  'Error while connecting. Cannot open connection on host: <IP-address> and port: <port>'
I found this document to troubleshoot the problem:
    https://cw.sdn.sap.com/cw/docs/DOC-29070?treeid=DOC-7447
It says the problem is likely that the P4 port is incorrect or the wrong transport layer is selected in my connection string.  It suggests using the config tool to find the P4 port and has a diagram showing the port in the local properties.  When I go to my config tool, I am missing the Local Properties box.  My screen only shows the Global Properties.  Is there somewhere else to check the port.  I am pretty sure I have the right port because if I try to connect using an incorrect port I get the error message instantly.
The transport layer in my connection string is 'default'.
    Can anyone help?  Thanks.
Our Visual Administrator version is 6.40 Support Pack 22.  The java version is 1.4.2_13.

    Hi Kathryn,
P4 port is used for connecting to VA. P4 port will be 5<Inst no>04.
Please check if you have this port while connecting to VA. You can check this port in the index page of your portal.
Can you try restarting the portal instance ??
Also you need not enter userID for logging into VA. By default it uses "administrator" user.
You may also check if the administrator user is locked.
    Revert if the issue persists.
    Cheers.,
    Raghu

  • How to access custom properties on JavaBean DC attributes

I created a DC from a Java class and defined some custom properties on one of its attributes.  How can I access these custom properties through EL?  I don't see the custom properties in the Expression Builder.

    Hey Frank
Sorry for the sparse description.  By custom properties I mean the ones you can add through the "Custom Properties" tab in the same editor that also lets you edit the UI Hints.  This is the editor that opens when you try to edit an accessor on a data control from the DataControls.dcx viewer.  In my case, I have a TestDC data control that exposes an "employees" collection of type Employee.  Employee has the attributes "startDate", "name", and "age" which are of type java.util.Date, java.lang.String, and java.lang.Integer, respectively.  In the DataControls editor, I select the "employees" accessor and click on the pencil icon.  This opens the editor for the Employee.xml file (root element is PDefViewObject, always appears in a persdef package).  From the Overview, click on Attributes, and you'll see the Custom Properties tab below the list of attributes.  I added some properties here for one of the attributes but I don't know how these are supposed to be accessed through EL.
Here are two screenshots in case my written description sounds confusing.

  • Combo box in "Filter by Custom Properties"

    Hi to all,
I create some custom metadata properties  properties in order to classifie the documents in KM.
This metadata properties has a set of Allowed Values, so the value is selectable with a combo-box in Detail box of KM.
Now I have to enable the Filter by Custom Properties with the combobox in place of textfields.
    How to do?
    Regards,
    Giampaolo

What you want is not the Filter by Custom Properties but the Filter by Predefined Properties.
In you search options configuration add your properties to the predefined properties list and you'll get your combo-box.
To configure your search options go to:
System Administration -> System Configuration -> Knowledge Management -> Content Management -> User Interface -> Search -> Search Options Set

  • Create custom properties in folder in KM

    Hi to all,
In KM I have created a folder and now I need to create a custom field in setting - properties in this folder.
I go to System Administration - System configuration - Knowledge Management - Content management.
Now i go to Configuration - Component Management - Global service and I have created a Namespace, a Group and Properties.
I think that if I go to the Content administrator - KM content - go to my folder - Details - Settings - Properties, I should see the custom field but I don't see it.
    Can anybody helps me?
    Thanks a lot.

I have similar problem with custom properties for UME. I have added a property userdesig. I can see them in myprofile and user management in a separate tab 'Customized information'.  I can also save data in this property.
The problem is when I go to 'Content administrator - KM content - go to my folder - Details - Settings - Properties' I am unable to see the Custom Field.
    Would appreciate any help.
    Thanks

  • What is the use of custom properties for terms in term store management of SharePoint 2013

    Hi All,
Can some one pls explain what is the purpose of custom properties for terms in term store management tool of SharePoint 2013.
In general, for each term we have shared and local properties. What is the real purpose in terms of SharePoint development.
Please share with possible scenarios. Does it refer's to a hierarchical metadata in SharePoint ?
    Thanks keshav,Share point Developer

The custom properties for terms allow you to further define or clarify a term via the properties. You can then display these properties in search results or specify query rules that look for specific custom properties.
Here is an example of how to create a query rule using custom properties:
    http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/sharepoint/en-US/a8b53ffe-869e-4c86-8c43-d239370ee7d5/custom-properties-of-the-managed-metadata-service?forum=sharepointgeneral
Here is an example that uses code to verify that a custom property exists on a term object that is pinned to another term object:

    >shall i click on ok and proceed further or not.
please suggest me  what to do.

    Hi Sumit Bhargav,
Based on the error message, it seems that the issue is related to NHivernate and MSBuild, but
VS General Question forum discusses the usage issue of Visual Studio IDE such as
WPF & SL designer, Visual Studio Guidance Automation Toolkit, Developer Documentation and Help System
and Visual Studio Editor. In order to check where the issue is, could you please create a new and simple web application without having NHibernate, build it and clean the project?
Whether the web application can be built successfully?
If you get this error when you build or clean any solution, maybe you are experiencing the same issue
    described here:
    http://stackoverflow.com/questions/26930376/how-to-fix-checkattributes-task-could-not-be-loaded-error-after-installing-v
Please check whether the Microsoft.Web.Publishing.Tasks.dll assembly is located at
C:\Program Files (x86)\MSBuild\Microsoft\VisualStudio\v12.0\Web. If no, please copy it from somewhere else to this path. If you can’t get a copy of this assembly, I suggest uninstalling VS 2013 Update 4 or uninstalling and
    reinstalling all VS components.
If the issue only occurs in the web app with NHibernate implement, then this issue is more related to the specific NHibernate implement in ASP.NET. I recommend consulting
your issue on ASP.NET forum: http://forums.asp.net/

  • Error installing a new license with visual administrator

    Hey there,
we´ve installed a SAP EP on Win 2003 Server machine with sapdb on the same host.
I ordered a license from sap an get a .txt-file back.
While installing the license with the visual administrator some java exceptions occurred, but the popup notes everything has finished succesfully - I think because the file was on a netshare on a another host.
So I copied the file to the local drive - then the import runs without an error.
After a restart of the engines ->
the license check is always displaying the "old amount" of 2 days until epxiry.
After a system reboot -> no changes
    What went wrong?
Message was edited by: Thomas Uhl

    Thomas,
Not having ABAP stack is certainly not a concern with license keys.
Once or twice before, even with following/knowing the procedure SAP on a few occasions sends out license keys that are problematic. If you havent opened up an OSS ticket to report the problem, i would do so. Or to have a quicker resolution, you could apply for a new license, but I would include as much information on your customer profile on https://service.sap.com/licensekey.

  • Configurations file location | visual administrator parameter | path ??

    Hi folks ,
I have installed the GDS console . As suggested in the installation guide " GDS 1.0 - Installation Guide.pdf " I have copied the GDS folder in the path E:/usr/sap which is where my WAS is installed  (This GDS folder comes when you unzip the file GDS1005_1.zip in the software for MDM 5.5 SP05 ase release . It contains the subfolders namely " configurations" , "IncomingMessages" , "MessagesToDataPool"). The WAS and the GDS console are at the same machine .
Now there is a step in the configuration of visual administrator parameters where I need to configure the parameter "Configurations file location" . I gve the path as "E:\usr\sap" as suggested in the example for the configuration in the installation guide (my GDS folder is inside "sap" folder ) but when I try to access the page for GDS through http://<host-name><port>/gds it says resource not found .
What I am not able to figure out is what would be the appropriate path for this parameter so that I am able to access the page ?
Could you please help me out !!!
    Regards
    Deepak Singh

    Hi ,
Actually I did all that you suggested but the problem was , for J2EE to accept my changes I was required to restart the engine from the console which I was not doing . This morning I did that and could move on to the next set of problems . But thanks for the suggestions . I do appreciate that .
    - If you look at the " GDS 1.0 - Installation Guide.pdf " then under " Editing the application properties " there is a table which has five columns , Property/Default/<b>1Sync</b>/Description/Example . What exactly does the " 1Sync " column convey ??? . Guess it is the External data pool ??
    - I am doing this more as a personel training excercise so I have some  infrastructural constraints .I have a WAS 6.40 SP15 installed on my machine . I have MDM 5.5 SP05 with the GDS component .  I don't have a XI/R3 system yet in the landscape . I don't have any external data pool . I don't have an AS2 adapter either . So now I am getting a couple of configuration errors which are for some parameters in visual administrator .
    The parameters are
    > DestinationDataPoolGln
    > DestinationDataPoolName
    > 'GDS.PrincipalHeader'
    > ProviderGln
    > ProviderName
    > ProviderTimeZone
    > 'GDS.SchemaLocation'
    > 'LinksItemKeyCombination'
    > 'SystemExternalValidations'
Is there a way I can configure these values without adding anything further systems in my landscape ??
    Would appreciate your inputs !
    Regards
    Deepak Singh
