Visual C++ code to connect database

Hi
I am currently writing a program in visual c++.
However I need to store image to oracle database.
Therefore there is a need to connect to the database.
In other word, I need to connect using ODBC.
However I am not sure of the code in visual c++ to connect
and to store jpg image into oracle database.
Is there any reference or link that i can get the standard code
to connect to oracle database using visual c++ code?

You have a lot of options for how you want to connect. You can use OCI, OCCI, ODBC, OLE DB, and OO4O from C++ code without a problem. If you decide on ODBC or OLE DB, you can use the API directly, or, more commonly, you can use one of the API's that are layered on top of those API's, i.e. ADO, RDO, DAO, etc..
There isn't a single standard way of connecting to the database in C++-- you have lots of options, depending on what you're most comfortable with. If you can give some additional details about exactly which API you're going to be using, I'll try to point you in the right direction for samples.

  • Code to connect to database in  Webdynpro-- iviews

    Hi All-
    Could you let me know the code to connect to database
    in WebDynPro-->iviews.
    Regards,

    Hi,
    Here are the two ways of connecting to a database through coding:
    ////1////
    Class.forName("com.microsoft.jdbc.sqlserver.SQLServerDriver");
              java.sql.Connection conn= java.sql.DriverManager.getConnection("jdbc:microsoft:sqlserver://<IP>:<port>;user=<abc>;password=<xyz>;database=<DB name>");
    ////2////
    InitialContext initialContext = new InitialContext();
    DataSource dataSource = (DataSource)initialContext.lookup("jdbc/SRI");
    java.sql.Connection conn = dataSource.getConnection();

  • How to specifiy the provider to be Oracle.ManagedDataAccess.Client when creating a dynamic connection string with EF Code First from Database?

    I am trying to use the relatively new Code First from Database with the newest EF (6.x) and on an Oracle database (11g, but I have installed the newest ODTwithODAC). First of all, it works fine as long as the connection string is inside the App.Config file. But when I try to build it dynamically in the C# code (or rather, statically at the moment) it fails. I have it working with a dynamically built connection string when doing Model from Database though, so I'm at a loss right now.
    First, I have created a second constructor for the context class that takes a string and does base(connectionString). Then I build the connection string via
    OracleConnectionStringBuilder oracleBuilder = new OracleConnectionStringBuilder();
    oracleBuilder.DataSource = "TEST.BLA.COM";
    oracleBuilder.UserID = "ABC";
    oracleBuilder.Password = "abc";
    oracleBuilder.PersistSecurityInfo = true;
    string connection = oracleBuilder.ToStrin();
    Now trying to open an EntityConnection by giving to it this provider-specific connection string (or even the static one from the App.Config) doesn't work; I get "keyword not supported: user id"). Trying it by creating a context and giving this connection string doesn't work either. I'm pretty sure that this is because I didn't specify the provider to use; after all, it should use the Oracle.ManagedDataAccess.Client provider and not an SQL Server based one.
    I then tried to get around this by using an EntityConnectionStringBuilder on top and specifying the provider keyword there, but then I get "keyword not supported: provider" when using it in the context constructor, and "the 'metadata' keyword is always required" when using it with the EntityConnection constructor.
    As I said above: I bet it's the provider that I have to specify somehow, but I don't know how. The code that does work is the following:
    using (var context = new Model())
    context.Database.Connection.Open();
    context.Database.Connection.Close();
    When I read context.Database.Connection.ConnectionString, it is exactly the provider-specific connection string I created above, but I don't know where to specify the provider again. Do you know of any way to do this? Certainly there must be one.
    PS: I have also posted this question on http://stackoverflow.com/questions/27979454/ef-code-first-from-database-with-managed-oracle-data-access-dynamic-connection because it is quite urgent and I'd like to use Code First from Database. Otherwise I'd have to go "back" to using Model from Database again, which is not ideal because we have updatable views where the .edmx-file has to be edited after every reload of the model, while with Code First from DB inserting into the view automatically works.

  • Failed to open the connection - database vendor code 17

    I'm upgrading a VB.net Windows Forms application from 1.1 to 4.0.  In the reporting form, the list of reports you can choose are pulled from a folder where the .rpt files reside.  Once the user chooses a report and executes it, vb code populates the current database connection information and displays the report in the report viewer control.
    The following things are true:
    - Version 1.1 works on my systems and my customers systems
    - The code has not been changed, except that it now targets .Net 4.0 instead of 1.1
    - The exact same .rpt files are being used
    - Version 4.0 connects to the same database my customer is using, and I can run the reports just fine from here.
    - Version 4.0 is able to connect to the database just fine from my customers systems (using the same connection information provided to the report)
    - My customer installed this:  http://downloads.businessobjects.com/akdlm/cr4vs2010/CRforVS_redist_install_32bit_13_0_2.zip
    The only problem is that my customer encounters this error when trying to run any report from his systems:
    Failed to open the connection.
    Details:  Database Vendor Code: 17
    Failed to open the connection.
    Orders.BOL.TaskDetail {393C9017-0ED1-4E1E-8824-E222F4B9D14C}.rpt
    Details:  Database Vendor Code: 17
    I read all of the articles I could find, and they either don't describe this exact situation, or there is insufficient information for troubleshooting this issue.  Are there steps that I've missed to make Crystal Reports for VS2010 work on my customer's systems?
    Your help is appreciated,
    Mark

    Hi Mark,
    More information required -
    - Does this happen with all reports or few?
    - What is the connection type used for the report to connect to the database (OLEDB,ODBC etc)
    - Are you changing the database at runtime?
    few things you could check
    - Check if the database is accaessible from the client machine with proper permissions / rights.
    - If its an ODBC connection check if the DSN with same name is created on the client machine.
    - Check the driver / provided used by the report to connect to the DB, verify that the same is installed on the client machine. (SQL NAtive client, SQL Server etc)
    Also take a look at below articles discussing the simillar issue.

  • Code for connecting to a Microsoft SQL server database

    Hi
    What is the code for connection to a Microsoft SQL server database using JSP? I know the structure of the code but i do not know the driver name. Any importing required besides java.sql?
    Thanks

    Back up there. JSP's should never contain any
    database code. You should write a bean to handle
    database transactions and call that from your JSP.I agree wholeheartedly with that.
    Why didn't you consult google to help you with your
    problem? The answer is on the MS website.

    i want access to database in page html with use AppletFirst of all, that doesn't make any sence, if it's a single user application make it a java
    application.
    If it's a multu user application make it a client server where the web server connects to
    the database when the client requests a connection.
    When the applet connects to the database any client running the applet needs a
    connection to your database server, the client needs the jdbc drivers and the client's
    jre needs to find them (set classpath with runtime parameters or set the classes in
    javadir lib). After that the client needs to change thiere java.policy or you need to sign
    the applet.
    Needless to say that's a lot of trouble. And if you go through all that trouble the client
    can de-compile your applet and see the connection to the database server and the
    server name. Now the client can destroy your database or worse see date it is not
    supposed to see.
    Since you are a brainless ... who needed to post this question 6 times did not respond to any of my post in your other threads I can just say good luck with your problem.

  • HELP!!!! connecting database to JApplet

    I have posted earlier and received help repainting panels on my JApplet. However, my applet doesn't retrieve data from an Access database which is also on the server in the same folder.
    When I run the class as an application on my local pc it works fine but as an applet on the server it doesn't retrieve the data. It doesn't retrieve anything. It doesn't even connect to the driver properly. My code to connect is like so:
    <code>
    //connects to database
    String dataSourceName = "http://fiji.agere.com/indrani/db1.mdb";
    String dbURL = "jdbc:odbc:" + dataSourceName;
    try{
    Class.forName("sun.jdbc.odbc.JdbcOdbcDriver");
    }catch(Exception e){System.out.println("Could not connect to driver.");}
    try{
    Connection con = DriverManager.getConnection(dbURL, "","");
    Statement stmt = con.createStatement();
    ResultSet result = stmt.executeQuery("SELECT Function FROM function_description ORDER BY Function ASC");
    }catch (SQLException e){System.out.println(e.getMessage());}
    </code>
    I put the code in the Init method and in myactionPerformed method.

    I have very limited experience in this area but I have got to make up for a dumb question asked elsewhere by me! So here goes, the datasource name looks wrong. It is in an internet format (HTTP...) rather than a simple file path and name. If this code is running on the actual server that the mdb file is on then I would think that the format would be similar to that of your application code.

    Dear all,
    Is it possible to connect database using session bean without using entity beans like cmp,bmp.
    if ur answer is yes, then pls tell me where to put the select statement and transaction attribute like(6 types).
    if u have sample code, then it is good for me.
    Hope I will get answer.

    Sure it is.
    Try something like this (and maybe get a book on JDBC):
    String name;
    try {
         InitialContext ic = new InitialContext();
         DataSource ds = (DataSource) ic.lookup(Constants.MY_DATASOURCE);

  • BC4J DO NOT RE-USE THE ''INACTIVE'' CONNECTIONS, DATABASE IS SATURATED

    We developed a J2EE Web application based on the BC4J Framework.
    We're using JDevelopper 9.0.3.2 (9.0.2.822 before). The web application is rolled out on Oracle
    9ias 9.0.2 patchset 3.
    The database used is oracle 9i 9.2.0.
    We used the following code to connect to the BC4J:
    public void openConnection() {
    m_appModule = null;
    while (m_appModule == null)
    try
    m_appModule =
    Configuration.createRootApplicationModule(
    m_sAppModuleName,m_sAppModuleConfigName);
    } catch (JboException e) {
    if
    (e.getErrorCode().equalsIgnoreCase(AMPoolMessageBundle.EXC_AMPOOL_COOK
    IE_ALREADY_EXISTS)){
    try {
    Thread.currentThread().sleep(5);
    } catch (InterruptedException m) {
    }else
    throw e;
    The following code closes the connection to the BC4J
    public void closeConnection() {
    Configuration.releaseRootApplicationModule(m_appModule,true);
    m_appModule = null;
    The pooling parameters are the same as the default ones in Jdevelopper.
    We noted that certain connections created by the BC4J in the database were
    turned "inactive" and were never re-used.
    After a certain time, "inactive" connections multiply and the database is
    completely saturated.
    The BC4J do not re-use the "inactive" connections but try to create new ones.
    The "inactive" connections that are never re-used are never killed.
    Our only solution is to reboot the database server or the application OC4J
    instance to suppress the "inactive" connections.
    We tried to configure the BC4J pool in Jdeveloper, but it doesn't work in 9IAS.
    Could you please clarify what the problem is? Looking forward to receiving your
    feedback on this pressing issue, regards.

    I'm hitting the same problem.
    have you managed to solve it ? please share your wisdom :)

  • Can anybody give me the jdbc code for postgres database.

    Hello all,
    I tried to search for sample jdbc code for postgres. But I couldn't find working sample. Can anybody please post the sample jdbc code for connecting to postgres database.
    I have already added the jar file, "postgresql-8.0-312.jdbc3.jar" to the build path.
    Thanks.

    Hi,
    Thanks for your reply!
    I wrote the following code, but the insert doesn't add a row.
    try {
              Class.forName("org.postgresql.Driver");
              //Preparing Conenction String
              Connection con = DriverManager.getConnection("jdbc:postgresql://<name>:5432/sales_office_test", "sales_office_data","sales_office_data");
              PreparedStatement prepSt =  con.prepareStatement(
                                  "INSERT INTO office_personnel (office_id, salutation, firstname, lastname, email_address,"
                                  + " cellphone, phonenumber, extension, password, username) VALUES (?, ?, ?, ?, ?, ?, ?, ?, ?, ?)");
                             prepSt.setString(1, newOfficeIds);
                             prepSt.setString(2, whopperUserSalutation);
                             //Close statement
                             prepSt.close();
         } catch (ClassNotFoundException e1) {
              // TODO Auto-generated catch block
              e1.printStackTrace();
         } catch (SQLException e1) {
              // TODO Auto-generated catch block
              e1.printStackTrace();
         }If I print the connection object I get
    Sql connection value: org.postgresql.jdbc3.Jdbc3Connection@10965c3 I double checked the same query by directly executing it on the web interface to the postgres, works fine there and creates the row...
    What could be wrong.
    Thanks
    Srinivas
