Visual query  builder in SQL developer ...

hi
Thank you for reading my post
when we can expect a visual query builder in sql Developer ?
also , how i can make an auto increment field in SQL develoepr ?
Thanks

I can't answer your first question.. but the second has been hashed over a few times. In short, there are no auto-increment fields in Oracle. Instead there are sequences which are more complicated to use, but much more versitile.

  • Query Builder and SQL-Developer

    Hello everyone,
My proposal is to customize SQL-Developer (via Tools > Preferences ...) so that the end user can use it without danger for the data.
Example: the end user can only create reports, without possibility of drop, update, delete, etc.
The paragraph “Query Builder” of the article “ [Building Queries Visually|http://www.oracle.com/technology/oramag/oracle/08-mar/o28sql.html] ” (Oramag march/april 2008, page 59) inspired this question.
    Please, vote for this proposal!
    Thank you
    Jean-Louis

I overlayed the pre-release versionsDo you mean you installed in the same directory?
    Don't do that.
There's a system directory (sqldeveloper\sqldeveloper\system) which holds settings and everything, which very well might be corrupted to be used for a newer release.
Try deleting it, it will be regenerated at next startup. Or even better: re-install in another directory all together...

  • Query Builder within SQL Developer 2.1 versus Query Builder Version 6.0.7.1

    Dear all,
    dear Sue Harper,
we use Oracle 10g (upgrade to 11g is planed) and used the Oracle Query Builder Version 6.0.7.1 by now unless we got to know about the SQL Developer 2.1 including the Query Builder a few weeks ago to produce our SQL statements an efficient way.
Even tho the SQL Developer 2.1 Query Builder already has some nice features, like sorting the data fields ascending, export to excel, etc, that the Oracle Query Builder Version 6.0.7.1 did not have had, we miss some essential features, like the in-statement, define column, etc while on the other side tables are not included in SQL-code unless fields are selected or i.e. date fields cannot be queried in the where conditions.
I read the release notes and know that the SQL Developer 2.1 Query Builder is scheduled for rewrite in the next release.
Does it make any sense to summarized all things we noticed and get in touch with whomever it may concern?
Btw, if it would be possible to define a location for the stored connections within the SQL Developer 2.1 it would be very helpful... When starting SQL Developer 2.1 in our Windows Vista network environment it never finds the connection settings (file) automatically and we have to re-import the connections from a pre-defined directory.
Nevertheless, the SQL Developer 2.1 is a pretty user-friendly and most times reliable tool we are thankful for.
    Kind regards,

Yep, I saw your post; sorry for not replying, but i thought it's pretty the same problem i have. ;)
The missing possibility to query date-fields in the where clause is really one of a many things i miss in the SQL Dev Query Builder, i am sure you use an "in" statement as well as we do. I think going back to the manual creation of the where condition like we had in Version 6.0.7.1.0 should be okay with most users, at least additional to the current solution as long as the rest of the query can be built within the graphic user interface. Further to save and open a query in gui mode is really, really important for us. Not to mention that the boxes for the tables cannot be stretched over a certain extend and i cant separate the columns any longer :/
Other than that, SQL Developer is a pretty nice tool in my eyes, it's free and hopefully Version 3.0 will be closer to what we would like the SQL Developer to be like.

  • Visual Query Builder

    Hello !
I am currently trying out the CFBuilder beta on a laptop running MS Windows XP Pro SP3 with 2GB RAM.  I also have the developer edition of Coldfusion 8 installed on that machine running the local server.
The RDS Viewer appears to be configured correctly and I can see all of the tables for all of the databases I have declared in CF Admin and I can execute SQL statements as well as view the contents of each table but I do not have the button on the RDS Viewer to activate the visual query builder.  Where is the visual query builder ?  The user guide mentions that this should be available but I don't appear to have the button for it and can therefore not use it.
Is the visual query builer feature missing in this beta ?  Is anyone else having the same problem and what did you do to rectify it ?  What am I doing wrong ?
    I would appreciate some help.
    Thank you.
    Ed

I meant to add that there is are in fact other Eclipse-based database query tools that one may want to consider for more functionality:
    Eclipse SQL Explorer - http://eclipsesql.sourceforge.net/
    QuantumDB - http://quantum.sourceforge.net/
I mention these (and other non-Eclipse-based query tools) in my CF411 site category on them, http://www.cf411.com/#query.
Then, too, there is also a Database Explorer view that comes with Aptana (which is bundled in CFBuilder). You can find it with Window>show view>other>databases. Curiously, unlike the full version in Aptana as described here (http://www.aptana.com/docs/index.php/Database_Explorer), the one in CFB seems limited to connecting only to Derby and SQLLite databases. We can't even provide the JDBC connection string to try to point ot others.
(And lest one get excited about using the Derby (embedded) option when creating a new connection in that window, that means an embedded derby database embedded in CFBuilder, not one embedded in CF itself. There is the "derby (network)" option, but that will work only if you've set up the network server feature of Derby. For more on those things, see a talk I did on the topic at http://www.carehart.org/presentations/#derby).
Anyway, I've not yet explored the other two alternatives above. Has anyone else?
(PS if any of you get the forum feed by email, sorry if what you saw got truncated above. I just learned that if you inadvertantly do "Ctrl-S" while typing in these forums (on the web interface), it automatically saves and POSTs the message. Yikes.)

  • SQLDeveloper 4.0 EA1 - Suport for MySQL Sources in Visual Query Builder

Is there a reason for stopping support of MySQL sources in the 'visual' Query Builder Tab besides maybe policial decisions?
In Version 3.0.04 it works really good and I use it often.

Ensuring robustness for Oracle sql queries is challenging enough. When you remember that our MySQL (and any other database not called 'Oracle') support is there primarily for migrations TO Oracle, then it doesn't make much sense to devote developer resources to this feature.

  • Query Builder in 10g Developer Suite

I am accustomed to using previous versions of Oracle developer (2000,6 i...), and there was "Query Builder", which is very useful for us, especially when we do statistics and complex Reports.
Now the Staff has chosen 10g Developer Suite that unfortunately there was no "Query Builder". Is it someone can help me find such a tool like it(query Builder) in Oracle 10g.
I saw an almost similar to Oracle SQL Developer but can not totally replace the "query Builder "I didn't find for example a way to insert a calculated field in the Query of Oracle SQL Developer, it's like SQL PLus, and the same case with Toad.

  • Visual Query Builder problem

I have the trail version of Flex Builder 2 IDE. I can run the
RDS, and do manual SQL queries. But when I click on the Visual
Query Builder button, nothing happens - not even an error message.
When I try to use the ColdFusion/Flex application Wizard, I can get
to the Page Layout and Design screen. Then when I click on the Edit
Master Page or Edit Detail Page button, again, nothing happens. I
think this also uses the Visual Query Builder, so maybe that's why
    it isn't working.
Is there something extra I didn't download or setup?
    Thanks for your help.

  • Where is Visual Query Builder??

In the RDS Query Viewer, there is an alleged Visual Query button to launch the Visual Query Builder. There is no button present for the Visual Query Builder as shown in the help file.  I cannot find any preferences that hide this button.  Please help!  Thanks.  MPe-commerce

There is a whole section of help that tells you how to use Visual Query Builder. See this:
    http://help.adobe.com/en_US/ColdFusion/9.0/Developing/WSc3ff6d0ea77859461172e0811cbec16ab8 -7ff9.html.
The exact same thing appears in the CF Builder help within Flash Builder. Problem is, like other items I have found, it’s all phony because it does not exist.
Adobe has known this all along. Look at this forum post from August of last year: http://forums.adobe.com/message/2154542.
I got CF Builder because it came for free with FlashBuilder – and it’s not even worth that (free) price because you have to put up with the frustration of dealing with the kinds of issues we are dealing with now.
And to think that, evidently, some poor suckers have paid $299… As far as I am concerned, that borders on fraud.
The way it looks to me, they have taken the free ColdFusion Extensions for FlexBuilder and made them into a $299 half-baked product (marketers call it ‘re-purposing’).
    I say half-baked because CF Builder documents, but does not have;
    Visual      Query Builder
The      ability to generate a CFC from an AS class
ColdFusion Extensions for FlexBuilder do have those features and they work fine. But you cannot install those in Flash Builder – I know because I tried.
Sorry Adobe, but I am beginning to think of you as the Goldman Sachs of the software industry.

  • Visual Query Builder Doesn't Work

I'm using the ColdFusion extensions to Flex Builder 3
(3.0.1.205647), and I can't use the Visual Query Builder. This is a
fresh ColdFusion8 install. I have RDS configured, I even test the
    connection successfully.
I can use the RDS DataView and see the databases, click on
cfartgallery, for example, and show the 'art' table contents. No
problem. Then I click the 'Visual Query Builder' button, and
nothing happens. The query builder does not show.
It's not a big deal until I try and run the CF/Ajax app
wizard, and editing the master page is supposed to open up the
query builder...same problem. Even here it won't open. So, I can't
edit anything or use the wizards at all. I don't get any error
message, it just doesn't do anything when I click the button.
Anyone else have this problem? Is there some setting I am
missing or have to configure after a fresh install in the CF
    administrator?

    Using vista?

  • Flex/cold fusion wizard & Visual Query builder has a problem

has anybody tried the cold fusion / flex application wizard in flex 3?
to get there follow these menu choices:
file     new     other     cold fusion wizards     coldfusion / flex application wizard
I previously installed cf8 and the rds query viewer works fine.
i simply choose from the following menus:
window     other views...     Cold Fusion     RDS dataview
i was initially prompted for the rds password which i entered.
in the RDS Dataview, I can see the tables, columns, and data for all my existing datasources.
Unfortunately, when I use the COld Fusion/Flex application wizard,
I get to the page layout and design screen, add a page with the name artists, choose page type master,  and click the Edit master page button.
Nothing happens when I click the Edit Master Page button.  I followed the cf/flex tutorial exactly but there is no query builder.
I dont know if this is related but in the RDS query viewer, the Visual Query BUilder doesn't work.
I think this may be the problem (the visual query builder has a problem)
Unfortunately, how do I fix this problem

    already found the answer
flex has to be run as administrator if using WIndows Vista
simply shut down flex, right click the startup icon, choose run as administrator, and the visual query builder runs fine.
Dont know why this occurs because you are always prompted for the rds password.
    anyway, problem solved.

  • Pivot Dynamic for Query in Oracle SQL DEVELOPER ??

    Hi
I have the following question, someone who has a dynamic pivot.
I need a dynamic query that is that when the transfer column to row do receiving any type declared as these can change data.
    Example:
    ID_PROJECT
    PROJECT STAGES
    DATE
    12345
    Requirement Analysis
    17-01-2013
    12345
    Quotation
    20-01-2013
    12345
    Project Preparation
    29-01-2013
    12345
    Model Verification
    04-02-2013
    12345
    Closed requirement
    10-02-2013
    23456
    Building and Unit Tests
    With dynamic pivot:
    ID_PROJECT
    Requirement Analysis
    Quotation
    Project Preparation
    Model Verification
    Closed requirement
    12345
    17-01-2013
    20-01-2013
    29-01-2013
    04-02-2013
    10-02-2013
I mean that in this case the stages of the project will be changing.

    Hello,
Do you want to do this in an SQL - Developer application-setting or by using any SQL / PLSQL block or both ?

  • SQL Query works in SQL Developer, but not always in MII

    Hi all,
I encountered a strange behaviour with a query in MII 12.0.2. Maybe someone has a guess what happens.
I have created a SQL query which runs against Oracle 10g tables. I have tested the query using SQL Developer, and it throws a couple of lines, depending on the contents of the where clause.
Next I have copied the query to a MII SQL Query (FixedQuery). However, the output is empty most of the time, without showing any errors. After some testing I got the impression that older data are not displayed, but there is no time or date setting in MII.
As the SQL Developer always returns rows, I am unsure where to search for the error.
    Regards
    Michael

    Michael,
I would imagine that you have sub-select statements in your FixedQuery, all which will fall subject to the RowCount property of the query template (SQL defaults to 100), which is issued through the driver and typically honored by the database when returning the data from your request.
Most of the native database query tools allow you to make unbound query requests with no limit on rows, which would probably account for the difference between SQL Developer and the query template.
    For SQLServer it's ROWCOUNT:  http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms188774.aspx
    For Oracle it's ROWNUM:  http://www.oracle.com/technology/oramag/oracle/06-sep/o56asktom.html
So the answer would be not to make the query template row count some rediculous number, but more appropriately refine the way that the database request is issued.
    Regards,
    Jeremy

  • Query works in SQL Developer but not in APEX

The query below runs fine in SQL Developer. I have tried entering it both as a Report Region based on SQL Query and in a Dynamic PL/SQL Region. I get different error messages in each. In the Dynamic PL/SQL Region I get the error that an INTO clause is expected in the select
statement. When I place it in a Report based on SQL query I get an error that there is an invalid column and to use column alias. What I am attempting to do is add the first query result to the second query result.
    Select (select count(lead_id) from t3_leads
    WHERE
    t3_leads.market_id = 'Gurnee'
AND (T3_Leads.Last_Campaign = 'Hand Addressed' OR T3_Leads.Last_Campaign is null)
    AND
    ((TRUNC(sysdate) - TRUNC(T3_Leads.LAST_MAILED_DATE)) > 60
    OR T3_Leads.Last_Mailed_Date is null))
    +
    (select count(lead_id)from t3_leads where zip in (select zip from t3_overlap where t3_leads.zip = t3_overlap.zip)
    and
    market_id <> 'Gurnee'
    and ((TRUNC(sysdate) - TRUNC(T3_Leads.LAST_MAILED_DATE)) > 60
    OR T3_Leads.Last_Mailed_Date is null))
    from dual

    Hi,
you need a column alias for your "result" before the final 'from dual':
    Select (select count(lead_id) from t3_leads
    WHERE
    t3_leads.market_id = 'Gurnee'
AND (T3_Leads.Last_Campaign = 'Hand Addressed' OR T3_Leads.Last_Campaign is null)
    AND
    ((TRUNC(sysdate) - TRUNC(T3_Leads.LAST_MAILED_DATE)) > 60
    OR T3_Leads.Last_Mailed_Date is null))
    +
    (select count(lead_id)from t3_leads where zip in (select zip from t3_overlap where t3_leads.zip = t3_overlap.zip)
    and
    market_id 'Gurnee'
    and ((TRUNC(sysdate) - TRUNC(T3_Leads.LAST_MAILED_DATE)) > 60
    OR T3_Leads.Last_Mailed_Date is null)) result
from dualPlease let me know if this works.
    Thanks
