SQLDeveloper 4.0 EA1 - Suport for MySQL Sources in Visual Query Builder

Is there a reason for stopping support of MySQL sources in the 'visual' Query Builder Tab besides maybe policial decisions?
In Version 3.0.04 it works really good and I use it often.

Ensuring robustness for Oracle sql queries is challenging enough. When you remember that our MySQL (and any other database not called 'Oracle') support is there primarily for migrations TO Oracle, then it doesn't make much sense to devote developer resources to this feature.

Problems using Quick Migrate in SQL Developer 1.5 for MySQL to Oracle 10g

Hi all,
I am trying to use SQL Developer 1.5 migration tools (Quick Migrate) to perform online capture and build source model to migrate from MySQL 5.x to Oracle 10g on Windows platform. I get these errors and the Quick Migrate process fails:
oracle.dbtools.metadata.persistence.PersistableObject.doInsert(PersistableObject.java:238)
I did a search and used the sqldeveloper.cmd script but still fails. Then I created a new database and truncated the repository. I now get the above error plus two new ones listed below:
oracle.jdbc.driver.DatabaseError.throwSqlException(DatabaseError.java:112)
Error loading nls:OALL8 is in an inconsistent state
Error occurred during capture: Protocol violation
It fails during the capture process for MySQL 5.1 database
when it begins to capture the tables from MySQL.
Does anyone know how to resolve these issues when migrating from MySQL to Oracle 10g using Quick Migrate with SQL Developer 1.5 release?

What is very confusing is that with SQL Developer 1.5, there are several levels and several SQL Developer executables! I am really not sure which of these to use:
I created the SQLDeveloper 1.5 directory called SQLDeveloper1_5 on Windows:
1) cd C:\sqldeveloper1_5\sqldeveloper-5338
there exists a sqldeveloper.exe
2) cd c:\sqldeveloper1_5\sqldeveloper-5338\sqldeveloper\sqldeveloper.exe
3) cd c:\sqldeveloper1_5\sqldeveloper-5338\sqldeveloper\sqldeveloer\bin\sqldeveloper.exe
Which SQLDeveloper 1.5 executable should I be using and where should I place the
sqldeveloper.cmd file?
Also I did try to use a different database and schema for the repository with Quick Migrate but it appears a bug exists in SQL Developer 1.5 version that causes errors with Quick Migrate for MySQL to Oracle? Is this correct?
As an update, I ran the following commands:
cd to

sqldeveloper.cmd sqldeveloper.exe
Start sqldeveloper.exe
Perform standard capture for MySQL using the new mig2 schema as the new repository
It starts the capture but fails on the errors below:
Error loading nls:OALL8 is in an inconsistent state

Here are the steps that I followed:
1. Create a Windows cmd script
Put the following entries in the script:
SET ORACLE_HOME=%CD%
save the command windows script as sqldeveloper.cmd
Copy this script to the base installation directory for SQLDeveloper
Example:
1. cd c:\SQLDeveloper1_5\sqldeveloper-5338\sqldeveloper
2. Start SQLDeveloper with the command script that you created earlier
Example:
Open a Windows shell prompt window and execute the following scripts:
a) sqldeveloper.cmd sqldeveloper.exe
b) sqldeveloper.exe
3) In SQL Developer 1.5
From the Migrate menu,
a) Delete current repository and create a new schema in Oracle target database call it mig2.
b) Then create a new repository in SQL Developer 1.5
c) Right mouse click on the MySQL 5.x database and choose capture
It worked with the exception of one error message:
o.jdbc.driver.OracleDriver
Error while registering Oracle JDBC Diagnosability MBean.
So it looks like something is screwed up with my JDBC drivers and configuration for MySQL. How do I diagnose the JDBC driver issue for MySQL?

Result Source Query Builder Filter for Content Sources

I have several content sources that I want to add to a result source as a property filter. It works fine if I just have one but when I add multiple content sources it does not give me all the results. Is there a way to add more than one content source
filter to one result source.

How did you set the filter with content source in the query builder for the result source?
I tested with more than one content source as filter in the query builder for the result source in my environment, and all the corresponding results were displayed fine.
The query text for the result source was set like this: {searchTerms} contentsource:file1 contentsource:file2.
Remember to add a space between the “{searchTerms}”, “contentsource:file1” and “contentsource:file2”.
You can provide the query text of your result source here and I will help to check the logic.

Query Builder Page Source

I need to build a Query Builder tool into my app for end users. I wanted to look at the page source of the Query Builder tool built into APEX. Looking at the URL below I can see that it is calling application: 4500 page: 1002
ref="f?p=4500:1002:1230793305485584::NO:1002::" title="Query Builder"
Is there any way for me to bring this page up in the builder or does someone have a similar app already built?

You can install into your own workspace any of the applications we ship. They're in the builder directory. Just change the application alias in the file before you do. You'll then be able to see the application in your Builder. You won't be able to run it, of course.

Connection verification failed for data source using mySQL

I having problem with mySQL datasource and getting the above error. This is only happening in our staging server. We are using ColdFusion 8 running JRUN4 and trying to connect to mySQL v 5.1.41. I tried adding DSN from my localhost using ColdFusion 9 developer edition and I am able to connect without error.I know that mysql server, username & password is valid. I can access the mysql also using mySQL gui tool from different pc and it works fine. I'm believe that this has something to do with mySQL driver? Can somebody shed some light on how can I fix my DSN connection problem? Thank you.

Report Designer odbc connection string for data source using a parameter

I am using stand alone report designer 3 for the present and have a question/problem regarding the odbc connection string for MySQL when setting up the data-source
I need to be able to enter a parameter which is the database name i.e. BOE-201401 or say BOE-201312 etc from a list of databases the user can choose from.
at present the odbc connection string points to BOE-201402
the connection string is at present Dsn=Development Server for MYsql;description=MYSQL;server=ldndw01;database=BOE-201402;port=3306
my parameter has the name BOE_DATABASE
and in an expression it is as such
=Parameters!BOE_DATABASE.Value
I want to point the datasource for the report to the parameter value before the user sees the report.

Create report with static database.
Change data source to report parameter.
Send new database connection string as a report parameter.

Also make sure your firewall has the required port open (1433
default) and if you are running 2003 on the SQL box, especially if
you ran the security Wizard, make sure the IPSec is allowing the CF
box to communicate with it, and vise verse.

I remember extending the ResourceAdapter helper classes from IBM's websphere server.
In most cases your application server would provide a generic class that you extend to add support for more databases.
In weblogic the resourceadapter deployed on the server includes support for mysql already and so is the case for JBoss.
If you are using any other server, then try to see how JBoss have implemented their resourceadapter...ResourceAdapters are deployed on the app server as RAR files

Yes, the create target table option was set to true and the target table exists in the target DB. So, I made the create target table option to default No. Now during execution it I see:

There is a "," before from clause. I am not sure how it came, but I tried to manually delete it here and restart session, it still fails.

The driver and URL string are independent of server you deploy them on.
Put that JDBC JAR in your Web app's WEB-INF/lib directory and it'll be in the CLASSPATH.
Set up the pooled data source as appropriate for your server. That's the server-dependent part.

Php data service with something other than localhost for mysql

Hello
I'm trying to use an external host as an mysql source.
I've used the 'generate from template' option and filled it out with the correct data.
The php code is on my localhost on my mac.
I've made a testfile in php to test my service and it seems to work and get the data from the database.
But flashbuilder doesn't see an operation and when I try to refresh it says:
java.lang.IllegalArgumentException: protocol = http host = null
I get the same error if I try to 'generate from database' and I click the 'connect database' button.
in the hostname field, I've tried the url to the server and also the IP (in case of a DNS problem), but either of them generate the same error.
I hope some one can help me, so I can really start trying out the new data services.

At first I got the error below, but after putting a ZendFramework folder in the /Library/Webserver/Documents folder my settings got accepted.

I think this is some kind of bug too, since I let the project wizard create a local ZendFramework folder in my project automatically, but it did not get used.
It would really be great to have the webroot on a remote server through ftp or maybe afp in a private network to the remote server, but with only tapping into the remote database already solves a lot of problems for the workflow.
In order to make this work (mysql remote connection) one should create a user on the mysql server with host '%' instead of 'localhost'.
Since this is not very secure, you could also set the host to your external IP (if its not dynamic), or give that user only rights to your testdatabase.

I am using Oracle Develper Suite and java (J2EE) for my application. I am using MySql 5 as database tool. I want to use Oracle reports of Oracle Develper suite. I have created some reports by first creating system DSN for MySql database and then connect Oracle reports to that DSN by "jdbc:odbc" connection string provided in Oracle Report developer wizard. This is working fine.
I want to generate reports without creating system DSN (DSN less) so that i can use my application on any computer without creating DSN for Oracle Reports. I am deploying my application on OC4j as "EAR" file.
Help in this regard will be highly appreciated.

Using an 8i client, you will need to configure the tnsnames.ora file with appropriate connection information if you are using local naming. If you are using host naming or something like an Oracle Names server to resolve TNS aliases, you can skip the tnsnames.ora configuration. A default installation of the Oracle client, though, will probably be using local naming.
If the tnsnames.ora file is configured, or you have configured an alternate way of resolving TNS aliases, you should be able to use the connection string
DRIVER={Oracle ODBC Driver};DBQ=<<TNS alias>>;UID=system;PWD=managerIf you wanted to move to the 10g client (the 10g Instant Client could be useful here), there are some streamlined naming methods that could be used instead of configuring the tnsnames.ora file.

Issue with table ROOSPRMSF entries for data source 0FI_AP_4

Hi Experts,
I am facing with an issue where we found incosistencies with table ROOSPRMSF in R/3 system.
In BW , we have done initializations based on fiscal period selections (none of the selections overlap) for data source 0FI_AP_4.
We have done in total 7 initializations. So in BW system in table RSSDLINITSEL we have 7 initialization requests.
But in R/3 system we have 49 records for data source 0FI_AP_4 in ROOSPRMSF table out of which 42 are invalid records.
I suspect that these 42 invalid records are created due to the execution of program RSSM_OLTP_INIT_DELTA_UPDATE when the tables ROOSPRMSF are actually holding the 7 initialization request entries. Due to this each and every initialization request is linked to rest of the other intialization requests and ended with 49 records in table ROOSPRMSF table.
Now our data loads are running fine but daily a short dump is raised . In the daily loads, BW init records in RSSDLINITSEL are compared with ROOSPRMSF entries and all the other 42 records which are invalid are written into system log and a short dump is raised.
In order to fix these inconsistencies i checked for OSS note 852443. (Point 3 in OSS note)
But it is specified to delete the delta queue for data source 0FI_AP_4 in RSA7 and instructed to execute the program RSSM_OLTP_INIT_DELTA_UPDATE so that the ROOSPRMSF table will be reconstructed with valid records available in RSSDLINITSEL.
From OSS note 852443 point 3
"3. If the RSSDLINIT table in the BW system already contains entries, check the requests listed there in the RNR column in the monitor (transaction RSRQ). Compare these entries with the entries in the ROOSPRMSF and ROOSPRMSC tables with the INITRNR field. If, in the ROOSPRMSF and ROOSPRMSC tables for your DataSource source system combination, there are more entries with different INITRNR numbers, use transaction RSA7 in an OLTP source system to delete all entries and then use the RSSM_OLTP_INIT_DELTA_UPDATE report mentioned in the next section. For a DataMart source system, delete the entries that you cannot find in the RSSDLINIT table using the procedure described above."
My question is if we delete the delta queue in RSA7 then all the tables in R/3 (ROOSPRMSF, ROOSPRMSC, Time stamp table) and BW (RSSDLINITSEL, initialization requests will be deleted) will be cleared. Then how will the program RSSM_OLTP_INIT_DELTA_UPDATE copy entries into ROOSPRMSF table in R/3 ?
Could any one please clarify this ?

Did you unhide the new field in RSA6 and regenerated the DataSource?
Often SAP will populate newly added fields (belonging to the same (set) of table(s) used for extraction) automatically (e.g. SAP uses 'move-corresponding' in it's extractor-code, or, in this case, reading all fields from the DD, FM BWFIU_TRANSFORM_FIELDLIST).
If the DataSource looks fine to you and the field is still not populated in RSA3 you can't go without a user-exit.

How to generate an XML Configuration File for EBS Source Type

We have installed SES, I want to integrate it to enable for searching repository contracts.
In the sources I have selected oracle.apps.okc.repository.textsearch.server.RepHeaderSearchExpVO.
For this source I need to specify the Configuration URL.
Here I need to provide the path for configuration XML file. But before that I need to generate the XML Configuration file.
Is there any steps on how we can create this XML file.
like I would want to know how we can create the XML file and on which folder on the server should I be putting it
