Visual Studio 2013 - which edition for a BizTalk 2013 installation ?

Hi there,
What is the lowest edition of VS2013 that will do for BT2013 ?
Is it necessary to go for ultimate or is one of the test editions enough ?

If you're checking the lowest Visual Studio edition for saving cost, then Professional edition should do.
FYI:
For BizTalk 2013, it Visual Studio 2012. And for Visual Studio 2013 is for BizTalk 2013 R2 (not 2013)
And as pointed out, "Test Professional" is not for testing.

Fail in installing Visual Studio 2005 Professional Edition in Windows 7

Hi,
I'm new in here. I've just got my Notebook Installed with WIndows 7 Enterprise 32 bit and I would like to install Visual Studio 2005 professional Edition(I've got the installer CD from the MSDN which is purchased in our Company) in my
notebook. There is an issue which often occured, it says:
A problem has been encountered while loading the setup components. Canceling Setup.
I've look up for the solution try lot of things to resolve the issue but no luck until now.
Any idea or experience to help me?

Visual Studio 2005 with SP1 for Windows 7 - 64 bit

Hi,
I am trying to install Visual Studio 2005 on a 64-bit platform (Windows 7). The version in about section reads Version 8.0.50727.42
(RTM.050727-4200)
I need to install the Service Pack 1 for Visual Studio 2005 but the installer available is for 32 bit (VS80sp1-KB932232-X86-ENU.exe)
This does not install on 64 bit system.
How do I get Visual Studio 2005 with SP1 installed ?
P.S- On the network I work on, I can see a Windows 2008 (64 bit) system with the version of Visual Studio 2005 that reads Version
8.0.50727.762 (SP.050727-7600) but I dont know how that was installed. Any help would be
appreciated.

I think your concern is the name X86 here. Actually Visual Studio is x86 version and we do not have a x64 version Visual Studio. So if you install Visual Studio on X64 version, it is also available. And when you see this page

Vista hardware requirements.

So please don't mind the name x86, the update can still be installed on Win 7 x64.

Visual Studio Update 2 hangs for 13 minutes on "Creating a system restore point..."

It appears that Visual Studio 2012 Update 2 hangs for a long period of time before it tries to create a system restore point. Should I create a Microsoft Connect issue for this?
Here is what I did:
I created a new Windows 8 x86 Virtual Machine using VirtualBox. I installed Visual Studio 2012 and Update 1 because Update 2 was not yet out. I came back 1 week later and tried to install Visual Studio Update 2.
When I ran the installer on the Virtual machine, it hung for seemingly 10 minutes at "Creating a system restore point..." I powered off the virtual machine and disabled system restore. I then ran with the /layout option on the host machine
so I could pre-download the files. Then I tried again.
Again, it hung. This time I let it go. It hung for exactly 13 minutes before it gave up and continued on to the install. The log file says this:

NOTE: Although it says "Creating a system restore point" at 12:52, it actually displayed the message on the screen at 12:39. That indicates that it was really doing something else during those 13 minutes, not creating the restore point.
That is corroborated by the fact that it took a long time regardless of system restore being on or off.
If no one has any information or explanation, I will create an issue on Microsoft Connect.

I have the same issue. Visual Studio 2013 Professional update 2 was not installed from Web installer. Rather I downloaded a trial version and now want to uninstall it. However, I let the uninstaller try to create a Restore Point all night while I slept.
Next day, not done. So I clicked cancel, and it then commenced to create a restore point for the cancel. I did let the cancel run for awhile but I rebooted.
I then researched something on how to disable the restore point security on my drive, but that did not deter Visual Studio from trying to protect me and it TRIES to create a restore point before uninstalling. Just hangs forever. I don't need a restore point

Connecting Visual Studio 2008 to Team Foundation Server 2012/2013

I currently have many projects in VS 2008.
We are able to build and deliver all of the products to the production servers.
I want to connect VS2008 to VisualStudio.com so I can create an environment for Beta Testing with VisualStudio.com and Azure.
I have started from scratch:
Build a VMWare Virtual Machine - Windows 7 Ultimate
Added all of the Windows Updates
I installed Visual Studio 2008 - Professional
I updated Visual Studio 2008 to SP1
I have installed VS2008 Team Explorer
Unable to install GDR2 - with message "Visual Studio Team System 2008 Database Edition GDR does not apply, or is blocked by another condition on your system. '
I attempted to follow the "more information" instructions but there were no previous version to uninstall.
I attempted to login to Team Foundation Server (https://nnnnnn.visualstudio.com/DefaultCollection) and receive the "TF31002: Unable to connect to ....
I am able to login to the visualstudio.com site without any issue.
I have been working on this for days and no matter what I have read and tried, I cannot seem to get past this point.
I tried using a laptop I have and did the same steps as above with the same results.
It is obvious I am missing a step or that this process is longer possible.
Anyone have any suggestions?
Is there a "support" number that might help me resolve this?

Download a Project file for Visual Studio regarding the Kinect for Windows v2? Getting Started with Kinect Development in Visual Studio

I am currently trying to make an application for Kinect for Windows v2 but I am entirely new to Visual Studio and Kinect development and could use some help getting started. I honestly have no idea where or how to start and I figured the easiest thing would
be to obtain a simple project file and examine how it works myself, but I have been unable to find one. The easiest thing would be if I could obtain a project file for Visual Studio that is an application which overlays the Skeletal model over people in real
time, though similar project files would also be appreciated. The app I am making largely involves things similar to overlaying the skeletal model on bodies so this would get me off to a great start and show me how the code is laid out within visual studio
simultaneously. (I would prefer the code to be in C# if that is possible but other languages also work).
I have checked out some of the guides for kinect development but they all assume you know how visual studio works so I cannot get very far in them. Thus if you know of a good guide to get me started with visual stuido AND the Kinect then I would be glad
to here that as well.
Alternatively, and I know this is not the right place for this, I have Matlab, which I know works for the Kinect v1 but can't find support for it regarding the v2, so if you could point me in the right direction on how to get it to work with the Kinect v2
THAT would also work incredibly well as I am much more familiar with Matlab.
I already have Visual Studio Ultimate 2013 installed, as well as the Kinect SDKv2.0, the physical Kinect for Windows v2, and my laptop meets all of the requirements for development so those are not issues.

What's the best Visual Studio 2010 (VB) template for my project?

Hi,
I'm about to embark on a project which will end with a website that gathers users info (name, email, description, youtube address etc), then will display that info to other users via filtering.
My initial instinct is to create an empty website, then create a standard membership site with a database
(See here) then to add a few tables that will allow me to gather the extra data.
Should I:
Use the ASP.NET Empty Website template as per the link
Use the ASP.NET Website template which has all the pages already set up (not sure if the database has already been set up with this)
Use the ASP.NET Dynamic Data Entities Website template
Or something else completely?
(ps, When I click on online templates I get 'No Items Found'

Edit a local copy of Project in Visual Studio Without Setting "Edit" flag in TFS

My local drive is mapped to TFS; every time I open up a project in Visual Studio and open up a file; the status of "Pending Changes" in TFS is updated to "Edit". How do I avoid that to happen?

Since your local drive is mapped to TFS, seems it's as expected when edit a file of the project. Generally, when you edit the project on local machine, the project is check out automatically.
If you still have concerns, you can also check the workspace type you're using. Change it to a local workspace if you're using a server workspace. Or you can elaborate more details about your scenario, including TFS version and reproduce steps etc.

For 2013, only by using 3'rd party tools.

Are there C++ API's for IFS? What other API's are available for programmers to interface with IFS - only JAVA?

There are no C++ or C APIs to iFS, only a Java API.

No, there are restrictions on using the ESB Portal.

C# Templates for Visual studio

Im told I should be able to load the C# templates in Visual studio, but I dont see them listed and trying to find them "online" doesn't get me what im looking for. Just starting to program in C# so all I really want to do is start creating some
test programs and learn.
Does anybody know how I can get these templetes so I can start programming in C#?

To use C# templates, please ensure that you have installed the full version of visual studio rather than visual studio shell which is included in SQL Server installation.
However, if C# templates is missing from full version of visual studio, you can type devenv /installvstemplates from visual studio command prompt to get missing templates or repair Visual Studio installation to solve the issue. Please check the following

Windows Azure Tools for Visual Studio 2013 - v2.2 install fails on Windows Server 2012 R2

The installation completes without any errors on my VM running Windows Server 2012 R2, however its not recognized in VS2013 ? It also breaks the Publish functionality when I try and publish a web site to my hosting provider.

I tried install, uninstall, reinstall cycle several times without success. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I love Visual Studio. I use it since 2006 for c#, asp, WinForm project, etc. I have a question about PHP / Simple Web dev :
Which is the extention between VS.PHP and PHP TOOLS ?
What i need :
- Intellisence (auto completion all PHP core class and functions and major extention, project lib class and functions)
- Powerfull debug, with break points etc...
-Web server integartion (apache, nginx, mysql)
- Live edit over FTP
- Publish over FTP the file projet
- MySQL Integration (design tools, etc ?)
[- Integration of some platform like Drupal or Wordpress (intellisence and debut)
- Integartion with other HTML/Javascript framework (jquery, angular etc.) ]
- CONTROL + K + D indentation for all documents
