VisualAge 3.02 and WL 5.1sp2

I tried to include the Weblogic 5.1 inside VisualAge 3.02 Early
Adaptor but I got some problems and I think it is because of
a bug in VisualAge:
In VisualAge 3.02 Early Adaptor "private final" primitive Fields
are not serializable (read fails with IllegalAccessException).
I created an example which shows the behaviour, the example runs fine under
JDK1.2. (The example works in VA if you int-field is not final).
The problems I got have been in trying out the "stateless-EJB-Bean-Example"
and the JMS-Examples (VA only as Client). I think it basically stops you
from
using VA with WL5.1.

I know this is an install issue, but you will probably have better luck
with the tools newsgroup.

anyone that can tell me what I should do exactly for

I've seen some messages going around on that matter but I still end

    (using WL oracle 8 drivers).

AFAIK both IBM's and Bea's websites don't mention anything on the topic.

Shirley RemediosWe had the same problem and reduced the number of sockets in this state by reducing
the time to wait before closing the sockets. On Solaris we set 'tcp_time_wait_interval'

  • Calendar References in directory and Orpan cals

OK, running 5.1.1 and directory 5.1sp2. We are having problems when users are deleted via delegated admin, and are purged, references still exist in other peoples directory entries that point to their calendar and these references cause errors in the calendar server logs.
Also, want to know if there is a simple way to weed out orphan calendars of users that have been deleted with delegated admin or command line and not using csuser.

  • WL 5.1 & VisualAge 3.0

    hi,
Weblogic claims to have "better support for VisualAge". what do
they mean by it, how do you install it (is it a new integration kit).
how do you work with WL5.1 and VisualAge for Java?

It's been awhile since this question was posted.
Any idea when this will be available?

Actually, we're working on updating the existing VisualAge Integration Kitto
both VisualAge 3.0 and to WebLogic Server 5.1.0.
The release announcement copied a little bit too literally from the 4.5.1
    release information.
I don't have a date for the release of the kit. It's a bit intensivetrying to
find the right set of classes to import into the VAge repository.

  • Xa and db2

    Hi,
    1.
I'm trying to configure a xa DB2 pool and TxDataSource (WLS6.1sp2).
Documentation says that you have to specify the driver
COM.ibm.db2.jdbc.DB2XADataSource, but with this I get "No JDBC Driver
    URL specified for JDBCConnectionPool".
db2 library is in classpath and native stuff in path and Db2 library
does include the specified class DB2XADataSource.
All works fine with COM.ibm.db2.jdbc.app.Driver (and without xa
    transactions).
Am I missing something here ?
    Tanks in advance,
    TK

Do you have the user=<user> and databaseName=<dbname> in the properties section
and the URL text box blank?

    Hi Khoivu,
This is a new one. I believe this is fixed in 7.0, and I will
post a support case to get this fixed by 6.1SP3.
Please post your config.xml (if you can the one
from before you make the change the one after if they are different.).
Meanwhile, I suspect there is a name collision in JNDI, perhaps youv have a destination with
the same JNDI name as one of the default connection factories or another JNDI
              advertised object?

  • Installing Cocoon2 on WLS 6.1sp2 Solaris

    Hi all,
I have been following the installation instructions on the cocoon site, but perhaps it is a bit dated (specifically for WLS 6.0) and so far I have not had any luck. I tried both the WAR file and expanding cocoon and neither method worked.
Has anyone got Cocoon2 and WLS 6.1sp2 to work? My work environment is on Solaris but any points on Windows would be greatly appreciated also.
    Thanks in advance,
    Paul

    Hi Paul,
this is how I got Cocoon 2.0.4 running on WLS 6.1.4
(Download the Cocoon source from http://xml.apache.org/cocoon/dist/)
Remove all but the following JARs from lib/optional
    commons-jxpath-1.0.jar
    jing-20020724.jar
    resolver-20020130.jar
    servlet_2_2.jar
    commons-logging-1.0.jar
    jtidy-04aug2000r7-dev.jar
    rhino-1.5r3.jar
    xt-19991105.jar
Update lib/jars.xml to reflect these changes
    build clean
    build webapp -Dinclude.webapp.libs=yes
Copy the following JARs to a suitable lib-directory:
    xercesImpl-2.0.0.jar
    xml-apis.jar
    xalan-2.3.1.jar
    xt-19991105.jar:
    java/lib/tools.jar
Deploy the resluting cocoon.war and you should have a Cocoon up and running that
can do the XML->HTML Hello World sample. The status page works fine too.
If you need a more competent Cocoon, try adding the required JARs on the class
path (or add them the to your webapp-build if you are confident that WLS are capable
    of handling their manifests).
    Good luck
    /Peter

Hi all, forgive me if this is not the right "Install" forum, but I am
    looking for
some pointers/success stories in running Cocoon 2 with WLS 6.1 SP2 (Solaris
    preferably).
I have followed the official installation instructions from Cocoon and
    searched
the weblogic newsgroups, but none of them worked. Perhaps none of them
    were specifically
    about 6.1sp2.
If anyone has any advice or pointers it would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Paul

    The last error comes from:

I am using VisualAge for Java and experienced a similar problem.
Some applications require you to install some packages as they are not part of the inital installation.
Check your application's package list and see if the javax.servlet package is included. If not, you will have to add it to your applications list by installing it.

  • ?? NoTargetForURIException ??

can someone shed some light on this exception : NoTargetForURIException.
from time to time, i got this exception when a form in an html page calls a servlet.

i am using visualage for java and websphere. the err does not appear all the time. it's a simple thing, a static html page with a form, takes in a user name and a password, on submit, it calls a servlet, the servlet occasionally pops up this err message. seems like it does not see the servlet, but the error message seems to be unusual.

  • Oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleDriver cannot be found !

    Hi,
I'm using VisualAge 4.0 and WebSphere Application Server 3.5.5
I have an error when i execute my application (with java -jar myapp.jar) :
"Impossible to find jdbc driver class oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleDriver which has been specified"
I have installed an Oracle driver in WebSphere, so what is the problem ??
It's working very well if i start my application in VisualAge
    Thanks in advance
    Steve

If you use the -jar Option with your application No classpath setting is used. Either place the classes12.zip in the ext directory or class your application without the -jar option.

  • Any way of importing source files?

Hi all, sorry if this is a stupid question but I cannot see how to import a bunch of existing java source and properties file into a JDeveloper project.
I have exported a project from VisualAge as .jar and a directory structure and am completely miffed about how to do this.
    Cheers
    Ned

Cheers, that has now shown me how to add individual files. Is there any way to recurse the directorys on disk (which are in the package structure) and build the files/folders in the project?
I found out how to include stuff by creating a library and importing the classes from there, but is there a way to build a the folder structure? having 350 classes in one flat level is totally pointless.
btw, it would be good if you could remove multiple files from the project as once too.
    Cheers
    Ned

  • JTree Printing Problem

I am having a problem printing a JPanel that includes a JLabel, a JPanel, and a JTree. If I only add the JLabel and JPanel to the JPanel to be printed, everything works fine. But as soon as I add my JTree (which is small, and should fit on one page), the pageIndex stops being incremented and I end up with the print method being infinitely called. Has anyone run into this problem before? Why is the pageIndex not being incremented?
    Thanks for any help!
    andrewwi1

Ok, after a whole lot of trial and error I think I answered my own question.
It seems that adding the JTree to the Panel to be printed really caused the Print API to call the print method many many times on the same pageIndex. I had never seen it need to render the same page more than 4 or 5 times before now. I was running the code through debug (using VisualAge for Java), and was also causing the panel to be printed to the screen via JFrame. So after I'd get about 30 JFrames containing my print panel I'd assume something was wrong and kill the thread. Turns out it needs to render the same page 30+ times with a JTree (or at least with my JTree). After turning of the JFrame visibility (so I wouldn't see them pop up on my screen) and waiting for quite awhile, the page finally printed just fine.

  • About weblogic.ejb.utils.DDCreator

    Hello,
I had a problem deploying EJB using VisualAge 3.5 and Integration Kit.
Using "Generating EJB jar", VisualAge shows a exception

    What can i do ?

Do you have an access to source code of your EJBes?
If you do, compose a deployment descriptor manually,
    it's not that hard.

Hi, I am a student and currently use Visual Age 4.0 at University. I understand it is now not downloadable anymore, are there any earlier versions which are still downloadable which run similar to 4.0?

Unfortunately VisualAge is dead and buried. Try Eclipse, or if you've got lots of money, IBM WSAD.
