VLC fails to play "mp4v" streaming

I was able to play "mp4v"-formatted video streaming by VLC.
But recently it reports the following error:
[00000283] main decoder error: no suitable decoder module for fourcc `mp4v'.
VLC probably does not support this sound or video format.
The VLC is pacman-ed from the official repository.
Is it missing some configuration options?

    Hello there,
    I have an issue with vlc, probably is the same as described here. When I open a flv file from the command line vlc segfaults:
    $ vlc <some_file>
    [0x1985118] main libvlc: Lancement de vlc avec l'interface par défaut. Utilisez « cvlc » pour démarrer VLC sans interface.
    Erreur de segmentation (core dumped)
    However, when I run vlc and open the file from within vlc, everything works fine.
    Downgrading vlc does not seem to solve the issue, so I guess this might be a problem from another library. Could not find which at this point.
    Any ideas?

  • Failed to play (stream ID: 1).

    Hi all, I'm trying to simply stream audio from a FCS using

    Does anyone know why I'm getting the: Failed to Play (Stream:
    1).

    Hi John,
    Form the description of your issue (and from a short investigation) I can deduce that your assets do not have synchronized keyframes. Please try to re-encode them and force a fixed keyframe interval.
    Since the switch can be done on keyframe only, and if you do not have a keyframe in the second stream at that position, the playback will stop with an error.

    JMF does not. JMF only plays RTP-protocol streams.I doubt it.....though I have never tried to play RTSP streams using JMF but seeing following links I do think client side RTSP is supported by JMF:

  • Itunes in windows fails to play Shared Library's Video!!!

    Hello, I'm not sure if this is a bug but I have thoroughly tested it in both Vista and XP.
    If I share my Itunes' Library and access it from another PC (vista or XP tested), it can list the tvshows/movies/podcasts just fine, but when I play it, nothing happens. I see some network activity for brief 3-4 seconsd and then it stops.
    The videos were imported into itunes on the macbook pro just fine (meaning the encoding is fine, MP4) and when I copied those videos file manually over to the PCs, the play fine too. Even if I share them over the network through SMB, they play fine streaming. They only fail when I play them through itunes' shared library.
    95% of the videos fail, except for a few that I noticed and have not yet figured out a pattern. Videos that seems to work are 1) the downloaded guided tour video of iLife08 2) the mac tips podcasts from apple 3) a movie I converted using Quicktime into MP4 from divx
    Any ideas?

    This may indeed be the Windows version of iTunes (and QuickTime) being fussier than the Mac version.
    However I did in Windows XP, take a video that would not work, export it using QuickTime Pro (on Windows) with the Prepare for Streaming option ticked, and the resulting video did then work, also taking the same original video that did not work and in iTunes 7.4.3 (on Windows) and converting it to AppleTV format, also produced a version that then did work for iTunes Sharing.
    A video can be in MPEG4 format (or H.264) and meet the Apple specifications for iPod or Apple TV resolution, but it is quite possible it may not have been 'prepared for streaming'.
    There have been similar reports from FrontRow (in Mac OS X) users accessing videos from an iTunes Share and having problems (typically very poor performance) and when they used the prepare for streaming option the problems went away.

  • MediaElement does not play a stream

    So basically I just opened a new store C# blank app and put this in cs file:
    private void MediaElement_MediaFailed(object sender, ExceptionRoutedEventArgs e)
    gumb.Content = e.ErrorMessage;
    System.Diagnostics.Debug.WriteLine(e.ErrorMessage);
    private async void gumb_Click(object sender, RoutedEventArgs e)
    var myUri = new Uri (string.Format("http://173.192.137.34:8042"), UriKind.RelativeOrAbsolute);
    var uriStreamReference = Windows.Storage.Streams.RandomAccessStreamReference.CreateFromUri(myUri);
    var uriStream = await uriStreamReference.OpenReadAsync();
    MediaElement.SetSource(uriStream, "audio/aac");
    MediaElement.Play();
    And I put this code in XAML:
    <Grid>
    <Button x:Name="gumb" Content="Play" Click="gumb_Click" />
    <MediaElement x:Name="MediaElement"
    Width="400"
    AutoPlay="True"
    AreTransportControlsEnabled="False"
    AudioCategory="BackgroundCapableMedia"
    MediaFailed="MediaElement_MediaFailed"
    />
    </Grid>
    And so the Play button only generates this output: MF_MEDIA_ENGINE_ERR_SRC_NOT_SUPPORTED : HRESULT - 0xC00D36C4
    Note that when you load that streaming URL in VLC player it plays normally and says that stream is of type M4A/AAC which I have found to be supported by windows phone store app (documentation).
    There is one more possible stream (of the same radio station) which also does not work:
    http://173.192.137.34:8006/
    One more interesting fact is that I have found a few internet streaming radio stations that DO play in my simple code so it feels like this codec maybe unsupported by my code, but I was unable to understand what is missing. So far... Although I'm already wrecking
    my brain for weeks on this.
    I am developing this app primarily for Windows Phone 8.1 / RT but I would like it to be universal, if possible, for future to make a version for tablets.
    One other thing is that this same code WORKS on my Windows 8.1 store app, on my x86 tablet/laptop. But I cannot understand why it does not work on Windows Phone. I am deploying on Lumia 930 with Denim, but I suspect it does not matter which Lumia 8.1 is
    it.

    Those appear to be Shoutcast streams and report content type audio/mpeg.
    Windows Phone does not support Shoutcast natively, you would need get or write a MediaStreamSource implementation which can handle shoutcast streams.

    **YAU**
    Dell confirms it's an OS issue after troubleshooting with me for a couple of hours (wow)
    Is there a way to look at this EVM file _without_ installing the Windows Driver Kit??

    Hi,
    Thanks for posting in Microsoft TechNet Windows Vista Forum.
    Upon your description, I see that you have done a lot of research and tests. Unfortunately, none of these troubleshooting works.
    Based on my experience, this issue related to "failed to play test tone" can be related to several reasons. It also includes hardware defect. I am confusing why Dell confirms that the issue is related to Operating System. Could you let me know what operation Dell had troubleshot with you?
    Meanwhile, here I just provide more troubleshooting except what you performed. If it doesn't work, I may also need to recommend that you contact Dell for support.
    1. Microsoft has released a Hotfix to troubleshoot related to "Failed to play test tone".
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/930883
    2. Make sure that these services are started.
    Windows Audio
    Multimedia Class Scheduler
    Remote Procedure Call
    Windows Audio Endpoint Builder
    3. I noticed that this issue occurred not long ago, I may need to suggest that you perform a System Restore to the previous restore point when the computer without any problem.
    System Restore
    ==============
    1)     Please click on Start and choose All Programs, Accessories, System Tools, and then Windows Backup.
    2)     Click Restore on the left pane.
    3)     Choose Basic Restore.
    4)     Follow the wizard and click Next.
    5)     If you would like to restore everything in the backup, we can check the box “Restore everything in this backup” on the top of the window.
    6)     We can also browse and choose certain files and folders to restore. Then, click Next.
    7)     Then choose the folder to save the recovered files and click Next.
    8)     When we see a “Restore is complete!” message, click Finish.
    Meanwhile, as I know, I'm afraid that there is no other way to look at EVM file except Windows Driver Kit. Maybe there are some third-party software that out of my mind can look at EVM files, you may need to perform more research on Internet.
    Hope this helps. Thanks.

  • No HDMI Audio, Failed to Play Test Tone, Can't Change Default Playback Device

    Hello, I'm experiencing some real trouble with my HP Pavilion dv6-2160us (with the i3-330M, no dedicated graphics) Windows 7-64 bit, SP1 PC, and I would greatly appreciate some assistance.
    I've created a new thread because, despite the fact that many other people have experienced a problem similar to this and have posted what worked for them, nothing has worked for me.
    The Problem(s):
    My main problem is that I cannot get any audio to play from my PC to my HDMI HDTV.
    When I plug my HDMI cable into my PC and TV, the TV is recognized in Playback Devices, but nothing can play to it.
    When I try to test the TV in playback devices, I get a "Failed to play test tone" error.
    Additionally, I'd like to mention some other odd behavior that I think may be a part of the main problem.
    In Playback Devices, I cannot change anything. I can't disable or enable a device, I can't set default playback or communication devices, and I can't save changes inside device properties. Every time I try to change something, like the default playback device, nothing happens or the changes are immediately reversed.
    The Question:
    How can I get audio to play over HDMI on my PC (It's not a problem with the TV, my other HP machines play audio over HDMI to it just fine.)?
    What I've Tried:
    I have tried:
    Changing the default playback devices, which I'm unable to do
    Running the Windows 7 Audio Playback troubleshooters from within a clean boot state
    Uninstalling and reinstalling the Intel(R) Display Audio driver
    Uninstalling and reinstalling the IDT High Definition Audio CODEC
    Uninstalling the IDT PC Audio program from Programs and Features
    Disabling the IDT High Definition Audio CODEC
    Nothing has worked.
    The drivers I have are the latest issued by HP
    How can I get this working? I would really appreciate some assistance.
    I'm at the point where I'm ready to try pretty technically-involved suggestions, so, please feel free to post those.
    Your expertise is greatly appreciated.
    Thanks.

  • Using CAN bus to transport and play the stream audio data

    hello,
    Just want to build a PC-Based control network using CAN bus (Ethernet not considered).The system is separated two parts , one is the front unit(FU), and the other is the centeral unit(CU). FU performs dialing-up number to the CU , and play the stream audio media data come from CU, CU monitor the telephone call activated from FU's user , send rm or mp3 data to the FU . I'd like to know if CAN bus could realize this function? if it can , which hardware must be supplied ? Is there any suggestion that not use PBX to realize the voice (telphone) communication ? Please give an solution , your advise is greatly appreciated . Thanks.
    David

    Hi David,
    the CAN protocol essentially just gives you the ability to transfer (broadcast) up to eight data bytes across the network at a maximum data rate of 1 Mbit/s.
    There are so-called higher level (or layer) protocols that further specify the data exchange between a data producer can the consumer (DeviceNet, CANopen, etc.).
    If your application is not tied to any of those protocols, that means you have the freedom to design all (CAN) nodes of your network, you can implement your own protocol based on the eight data bytes and the arbitration ID CAN offers.
    For more information on the CAN protocol, take a look at appendix B of the NI-CAN Hardware and Software Manual, or visit the web site of CAN in Automation (CiA).
    For your particular application you would need a CAN port on both the FU and the CU (preferably high-speed physical layer) and a PCI interface CAN card for you development.

    Hello ak_kanan,
    Welcome to the forums.
    Try doing the following. In the browser swipe down from the top and choose Settings, now choose Content, here where it says Enable Flash change this to Off.  Now try going to the website that was not working (it will not work again this is fine) Once on the page swipe down from the top again and this time enable the Flash setting. Now reload the page and test to see if you have the same issue.
    Let us know how you make out.

  • Playing icecast stream with flash-plugin problem

    Hello,
    i've got a problem playing an mp3 stream from a livecast
    server with the flash-plugin (version 8,0,24) on IE (version
    6.0.2900.2180.xpsp_sp2_gdr.050301-1519)
    On my pc it plays fine, on another pc (with the same
    versions) it doesn't play at all.
    Though in will play fine in firefox on both pc's.
    I can see in the icecast admin that there are listeners
    connected, so it has to be flash that's not playing the stream it's
    receiving.
    code used:
    var streamName = 'stream'
    System.security.allowDomain("
    http://www.insertserverurlhere.com");
    myRadio = new String("
    http://www.insertserverurlhere.com:8000/"+streamName);
    mySound = new Sound();
    mySound.loadSound(myRadio, true);
    mySound.start();
    Can anyone help me?
    Greetings,
    Ramon
