Volume button controlling camera???

My iPod 4g has a cracked screen. Now when I go on the camera and turn the volume up or down it takes pictures. I'm not sure if its due to the crack or not. Any help on this would be appreciated. Like if it's supposed to do that or not. Also it seems like my iPod keeps on crashing. I will go onto an app and be in the middle of using it and all of a sudden it freezes and goes to my page of apps again. If any of this would be qualified to take it to the apple store and have them fix it under warranty(I didn't buy one the one that comes with it) please also let me know. Thank you soooooo much to whoever answers! I really do appreciate it!!!!

If you only restored from backup, restore to factory defaults/new iPod. If you then still have the problem it is likely a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

Add shutter button to act on volume button in camera mode

On one of the software upgrades i sure would like to have the volume buttons (one or both) activate the shutter while in camera mode. The soft button as it is now *****.

IOS 5: why not have both volume buttons operate camera?

I think it would be so much better than only the volume up button serving to operate the shutter. Because when you hand your phone to someone who isn't familiar with an iPhone, it would be so much easier to just say "hit either round button" than "hit the round button with the + sign".
Yeah, it's a minor point, but something that would be simple to implement and it doesn't seem to have any drawbacks to it. I don't recall the volume down button having any other double duties.

Volume buttons interfere with firefox plugins

Hey there ThinkPad community!
Recently I have noticed that when using the Adobe Reader Plugin for firefox the volume won't change anymore upon pressing the volume buttons. The onscreen display pops up showing the current volume yet it won't increase or decrease. When pressing the mute button nothing happens at all. This behavior only occurs when the focus is set on the plugin (i.e. I have clicked somewhere on the PDF)
Also when I am watching a flash video like this one: German News (and again the focus is on the plugin) odd things like video pausing will happen whenever I press or hold one of the three volume buttons. At least then the volume does change.
Is this a problem of firefox or is it one of the ThinkPad drivers?
I am using firefox 11.0
Adobe Acrobat plugin version 10.1.1.33
Shockwave Flash plugin version 11.1.102.62
on a X201t with Windows 7 Professional 64bit SP1
I will tell You the versions of the "volume button control programs" if You tell me which ones those are.

The issue is with the software compatibility with firefox.
Kindly install the updated hot key and power management driver and check if it resolve the issue.

Number one - that person has given you false information...the Apple store genius bar supports all Apple products whether in or out of warranty. Checking is free, service on an out of warranty item is not free.
Try a reboot by holding both the power and home buttons until the apple logo appears, ignore the red slider if that appears.
Since you show that you have iOS 7.0.3 you might want to update that iOS to 7.0.4...plug the iPhone in so you are on a solid power source, then while on a WiFi go to Settings > General > Software Update and update to 7.0.4.

When selecting the camera on 3gs the screen just goes black i can still take a photo using the top volume button but not with the screen please help

Try closing the Camera app completely and see if it works properly when you re-open the app : from the home screen (i.e. not with the Camera app 'open' on-screen) double-click the home button to bring up the taskbar, then press and hold any of the apps on the taskbar for a couple of seconds or so until they start shaking, then press the '-' in the top left of the Camera app to close it, and touch any part of the screen above the taskbar so as to stop the shaking and close the taskbar.
If that doesn't work also do a reset (unless this is what you mean by powering off and restarting) : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.

Mine don't wake up my phone. Only the top on / off button or a call wakes it up.

X40 volume button doesn't sync with Winxp volume control

hi everyone,
I reloaded XP on my X40 to factory default and even updated the winxp to SP3 as well as to the latest X40 driver (sound,hotkey...etc.) but the volume button on th X40 does not sync with the windows volume slide control but the mute buttons sync with XP vol slide control.. Whats happening is, I have to adjust the volume level on both XP and on the button.

SSame thing happened to me and I tried EVERYTHING.. I updated to iOS 8, restarted ton of times, reset settings, checked and changed mute button.To lock screen, checked every setting possible.. Nothing.. Then before I was dressed and ready to take it to Apple, it occured to me to check if my headphones worked so I plugged them in and they worked.. I then unplugged em and continued to play the video and the volume worked! So I tested the buttons and they're back to normal, maybe there was some sort of obstruction in there who knows

If you have a docking station try docking the phone. My sound came back immediately when I did this.

It's not a jailbreak phone. The phone is a replacement from Apple and the volume buttons are virtually won't work for certain functions on the phone. Here are the symptoms:
When the volume buttons are pressed on the home screen i get "ringer" and the speaker symbol appear but nothing more (ie. +/- volume)
When playing back from iTunes with no headphones in, I get nothing through the internal speakers, nor do the volume buttons work, nor is the volume slider visable.
When i playback Youtube content with no headphones in, I get nothing through the internal speakers, nor do the volume buttons work, nor is the volume slider visable.
With headphones plugged in sound is audible and volume buttons work.
Whilst using voicemail, (no headphones connected) i can play the message through the speakers and control volume using side buttons.
I have restored the phone and this has not fixed the problem.

It sounds like your Volume buttons aren't working correctly and you are also not getting sound from your built in speaker. I would start by quitting all the running apps on your phone:
iOS: Force an app to close

Double-click the Home button.
Swipe left or right until you have located the app you wish to close.
Swipe the app up to close it.
When you have done that restart the phone and test the issue again:

Satellite U500 - The volume buttons do not work

I just bought a Toshiba Satellite U500 two days ago, and already having problems :(
It has a touch sensitive control buttons, which includes the eco utility, media buttons, and volume control (+ and -)
The volume buttons do not work, and sometimes the computer freezes upon touching them. Once I touch the -, it keeps turning the volume down until it reaches zero, and even if I turn it up using windows, it returns to zero (like if the button is still being pressed). The + one doesn't work at all.
Please help. Any way to reinstalle their drivers ?
The only solution I found is to disable them using HWSetup...

Solved.
I just had to uninstall the Toshiba Common Modules, and reinstalled them. It worked.
I hope it doesn't happen again.

Nokia Lumia 620 Volume button not working,

Well, first of all after i bought this mobile the camera button stopped working(not fixed till now) and now the freaking volume button ain't working without a **bleep**ing reason.. I was going to take it to Nokia care but duh? Should the button stop working suddenly? Minus (-) volume button not working!!!

I updated my iPhone 5 to 6.1.4 and suddenly the (-) volume button is not working!!! Is it a problem with the new update? What can I do?

Go to settings, general, accessibility, assistive touch (turn on). A small box will apppear with a white circle on your home screen. Click "Device" and You'll be able to control the volume using the touch screen. You can drag it and movd it around your screen. You can also go back to settings and turn it off after you adjust the volume if you dont want it there anymore.

Do everything it says, including waiting the maximum recommended time. Applying power to your BB between it getting wet and doing this process reduces the chances of success. Further, the only thing predictable about moisture intrusion into a BB (indeed, any electronic device) is that the results will be unpredictable. I've seen some come back up right away and be fine. I've seen others never work at all. I've seen still others run for a bit, and then die later. And every thing in between.
