VPN on 10.3.9 server doesn't work

Hi evrybody,
i have a problem with vpn on Mac OS X Server 10.3.9 on a powermac with two ethernet;
All the configuration on the server seems to be ok, i turned on the l2tp, i turned off the firewall (so i can't have port problem), i told to the server can all groups can use vpn, i put starting ip 0.0.0.0 and end ip 255.255.255.255.
BUT, when i try to connect with my powerbook, by the LAN or by the gprs connection with cellular phone, i receive a message "the server doesn't reply".
If somebody had the same problem and can help me, thanks in advance.

Why did you enter 0.0.0.0 and 255.255.255.255 as the starting and ending IPs?
Starting and ending IPs are LAN addresses which you have allocated for the VPN.
For example, if your IP range is 192.168.1.1-254 and you expect no more than simultaneous VPN connections, you would enter something like:
Starting IP: 192.168.1.200
Starting IP: 192.168.1.205
Additionally, in the Client Information section, you need to add your subnet.
Click + to add and enter your network address (ex: 192.168.1.0) and subnet mask (ex 255.255.255.0)
Did you open firewall ports (or map NAT ports)?
Does the client attempt to authenticate, but fail? (you should see this in your log)
Get through these suggestions, make sure your firewall is configured properly and test again.
If that doesn't work, post contents of your log.

    the problem seems to be related with dovecot ... in my smtp log i get this:

    I have to say that in the usr/libexec there wasn't the dovecot directory so I just tried to create one but with no luck

  • Exchange server doesn't work at all after upgrade to 8.1.1

    Hi there,
    Upgraded to 8.1.1 yesterday and ever since getting mail from an Exchange server (not GMail as exchange, real exchange) doesn't work.
    I have tried removing account and re-adding it again, it authenticates, all is dandy, but it never pulls the folders list or the mail at all.
    Refreshing says "Updated just now", and then zilch, nothing, nada.
    Can someone please help?
    Thanks,
    Vlad
    PS. I tried resetting, wifi/3g, push vs fetch, all the standard knobs and whistles - nothing helps.

    I just got my emails again, not sure what did the magic, but this is what I did:
    - Downloaded my enterprise certificates (device provisioining) - Maybe you don't have to do this step.
    - Reset the iPAD (press power button and menu button until you see apple logo -> this doesn't erase data on the iPAD)
    - Deleted the exchange account
    - Created the exchange account - at this time the iPAD could confirm credentials
    After a couple of minutes emails started coming again!
    Btw, I had this issue after upgrading to iOS 8.1.1.

  • Instant client 10.2.0.3 used with ms sql linked server doesn't work

    Hi,
    instant client version 10.2.0.3 doesn't work as microsoft sql linked server (both 2000, 2005) while 10.2.0.1 does. (tested by overwriting files in instant client directory - basic instalation, then restart mssql services) - the message is, that the oracle client is not installed when running sql (registration of linked server is ok).
    Is it a known issue or is there any workaround?
    (Windows XP, 2003, MS SQL 2005, MS SQL 2000, Oracle 9.2.0.6)
    Thanks,
    Pavel

    I installed oracle-instantclient-basic-10.2.0.3-1.i386.rpm on a redhat box to
    connect oracle database server 9.2.0.8.0 install on win box.Is there any other Oracle software installed on the RedHat machine?
    In which directory did you install Instant Client?
    Can you login with sqlplus?
    On the database server, I defined parameters like this :
    NLS_DATE_FORMAT='YYYY-MM-DD HH24:MI:SS'
    NLS_NUMERIC_CHARACTERS='. 'This will have no effect on your problem - these are client environment variables.
    Before starting apache (lampp) I set Oracle environement like this :
    export NLS_DATE_FORMAT='YYYY-MM-DD HH24:MI:SS'
    export NLS_NUMERIC_CHARACTERS='. '
    My application worked very fine.
    BUT a few days ago (1 week), in my application, the date format display wrong,
    I have this format : DD/MON/YYYY even with
    export NLS_DATE_FORMAT='YYYY-MM-DD HH24:MI:SS'
    before starting apache.The ancient question: Do you remember what you changed before it stopped working?
    So I stop my apache and try set Oracle environment like this :
    export ORACLE_HOME=/usr/lib/oracle/10.2.0.3/clientAs has been said, do away with that.
    export PATH=$ORACLE_HOME/bin:$PATHYou don't need that either.
    Except is might be nice to have the directory that contains sqlplus in PATH.
    export LD_LIBRARY_PATH=$ORACLE_HOME/lib:$LD_LIBRARY_PATHNow that surprises me.
    Normally, instant client shared libraries are not installed in a subdirectory.
    Does this "lib" directory exist?
    You should add the directory containing the *.so files to LD_LIBRARY_PATH.
    When I restart apache and test my application, an error php message occurs :
    Ocisessionbegin error while trying TO retrieve text FOR error ora-12705
    I check my oracle_home, I don't think I make a mistake?It seems that Oracle cannot find the instant client shared library libociei.so.
    This library must be found in LD_LIBRARY_PATH.
    In this context it would be interesting to know (as I asked above) if any other Oracle products are installed on this machine.
    Yours,
    Laurenz Albe

  • CISCO VPN CLIENT RUNNING KERNEL 64 MODE (DOESN'T WORK!?)

    Hi,
    I switched my Mac to Kernel 64 and some days after, trying to run my Cisco VPN Client (vpnclient-darwin-4.9.01.0180-universal-k9), give me back the classic "*ERROR 51: Unable to communicate with the VPN subsystem*"
    I'm not sure that the kernel 64 is the cause, but I believe it.
    I've just tried the reinstall (also all fix and work around findable on the web and forums), but nothing to do.
    The "+sudo SystemStarter restart CiscoVPN+" by terminal doesn't work, and it give back this message:
    "+(kernel) Kext com.cisco.nke.ipsec not found for unload request.+
    +Failed to unload com.cisco.nke.ipsec - (libkern/kext) not found.+
    +Starting Cisco Systems VPN Driver+
    +/System/Library/Extensions/CiscoVPN.kext failed to load - (libkern/kext) requested architecture/executable not found; check the system/kernel logs for errors or try kextutil(8).+"
    Someone has the same problem?
    (p.s.: sorry for my GOOD English...)

    Do you really need to run a 64 bit kernel? One of the reasons Apple boots into a 32 bit kernel is because not all 3rd party drivers are 64 bit capable.
    Unless you have a 64 bit only driver that you must run, or you have something like 32GB or more of RAM, the 32 bit Mac OS X kernel will work just as well as the 64 bit kernel. Both kernels will equally run 64 bit applications, so there is no downside to a 32 bit kernel for most users.
    There are some other posts in this forum where someone ran Mac benchmarks with a 32 bit and 64 bit kernel, and the results were essentially identical. The best performance improvement came from having a 64 bit application, but having a 64 bit kernel didn't affect performance at all.
    I too have to use the Cisco VPN Client, and as I do not see any advantage to running a 64 bit kernel, I will be happy running the 32 bit kernel starting Thursday, when my 27" iMac arrives

  • Snow Leopard as PXE server doesn't work anymore with Debian Lenny

    Hello
    I was using a box with Mac OS X 10.6.2 as a PXE boot server, providing a Debian Etch installer as boot image.
    I wanted to upgrade to the Debian Lenny PXE image, but it doesn't work anymore.
    I m not sure how I can debug that. I m a sure of one thing, switching for the Debian Etch image to the Debian Lenny one triggers those kernel log messages during the PXE boot, and the host who tried to boot hanged ( a Virtualbox VM).

    I disabled bootp. In verbose and debug, everything seems to go well. The option 128 isn't accepted by the daemon, i disabled it too, the TFTP server is the same server than the DHCP, so it still works.

  • Xperia Neo media server doesn't work anymore with Sony Bravia TV after ICS update!

    Xperia Neo (MT15i) updated from 2.3.4 to 4.0.4 (4.1.B.0.431). I did not perform any reset (factory settings) after the update.
    Media server does not work anymore with Sony Bravia TV KDL40-NX700. With 2.3.4 it worked correctly before.
    When I start the media server on my Xperia Neo and try to view my photos on my Bravia TV it shows connection, I am also able to view different folders on the Smartphone but when it tries to load the photos in any folder on the Smartphone it stops working after a while. Feedback on TV is "cannot connect to media sever". The same procedure worked without any problems when using 2.3.4 before.
    Is this a known issue and is there any solution for this?

    Wow that is a new one, great find!
    I wish I had tested that with my Ray, as I had used the media server feature quite a bit with my DirecTV receiver when on Gingerbread.  But too late, it's on the way back to Sony to get rolled back to Gingerbread.
    Too many other problems with ICS that have crippled my device.
    1) Wi-Fi Hotspot does not work anymore
    2) USB tethering does not work anymore
    3) LED notification issues for incoming SMS
    4) Dialer slow to load
    5) HD Video recording skip frames and jitter.
    6) Bluetooth AVRCP profile broke (can't use the play/pause button on my car stereo anymore)
    If you have not done so take a look at the above features and see what you turn up.

  • Send mail using Internal Mail server doesn't work

    I can't send mail using my companies mail server, which requires authentication and port 587 to send.  We have a valid, non self-signed SSL certificate so that is not the issue.  I can send mail using Bell's mail server but that violates our regulatory compliance obligations.
    The server using POP3 and one must login to get mail as well as send.  Unfortunately there is no otehr error message than the: error sending "mail subject".  No further details are provided and when we check the mail servers logs its clear the Pre isn't even attempting to connect to the mail server.  So the request to send mail isn't even being sent out.  That could be an issue with the Pre or with Bell but Bell support will only troubleshoot to the point of fidning out if you can send using their mail server.  We can so their support stops at that point.
    I still have v1.3.1 of the WebOS as v1.3.5 doesn't seem to be out for the Bell Pre's yet.  But from what I've read v1.3.5 is even worse at handling mail not better.  However, there may be a solution out there to this beyond sending the Pre's back (I doubt we can) as Balckberry's and iPhone's don't have this issue.
    Any advice is greatly appreciated.
    Post relates to: Pre p100eww (Bell)

    Further update on this problem.  It does send if I use TLS instead of SSL so that must mean that the Palm Pre doesn't use SSLv3 or higher.  As TLS is a viable security setting option to maintain compliance I can use that.  But still Plam should seriously consider upgrading tis SSL versioning.

  • Ftp to a local ftp server doesn't work for VIREX 7.7

    Has anyone else experienced this and know of a work-around? I have mac 10.3.9 machines not connected to the internet and running Virex 7.7. I have them setup to access signature files I download to a local ftp server on our subnet. This works fine.
    We've installed a couple of Tiger (10.4.4) machines and this setup for Virex does not work. It acts like it can't see the ftp server. When I use Terminal I can ftp to the ftp server and transfer files that way. Why doesn't Virex 7.7 successfully download signature files from the ftp server?
    Any suggestions?

    I have been having the same problem. Our McAfee rep sent me a patch that apparently fixes the problem. Since McAfee issues DATs on Wednesdays, I ran the the e-update yesterday morning. It all seemed to run too quickly, but I checked the dates of the vscan files and they were correct. The files are:
    names.dat
    clean.dat
    scan.dat
    They located in /usr/local/vscanx/ (hidden files - you can download "Wizzard" to show/hide files).
    I believe you can download the patch at:

  • After transfer to new server, doesn't work

    Hello iTunes U Administrators,
    A short description about my iTunes U experience - none. I am a new hire at my academic institution, and it so happens that the folks with the most experience with setting up iTunes U have just left for vacation.
    We just migrated our site to a new server, and iTunes U doesn't open any more. We are using the Perl script version. I have verified that Perl scripts are still able to run on the new server. The "https://deimos.apple.com/WebObjects/Core.woa/Browse/**.**" URL still works when I enter it into a browser.
    We are using the version of Perl script that requires the following modules:
    URI::Escape
    Digest::SHA
    Net::HTTP
    I am checking with IT to verify that these modules are installed . We are using Perl 5.8.8 on Linux.
    The main mode of failure seems to be that "aURL" is not being defined. Here is a snippet from our web page source:
    {start of php section}
    importrequestvariables("gp");
    if($launch == "open")
    passthru("valid-file-path/cgi-bin/itunespublic.pl");
    echo "<script type='text/javascript'>openApple(aURL); </script>";
    {end of php section}
    In the perl script, the sub invokeAction() does not seem to assign a value to aURL, even as it generates JavaScript tags and "aURL =".
    Any ideas?

  • VPDN PPTP server doesn't work after put it into an VRF instance

    Originally we have one internet connection for our router which served as a PPTP server at the same time and everything worked well. Recently we got another internet connection, and we want it as a dedicated PPTP server interface. That means all the traffic except the PPTP data goes to the first internet connection. So we decide to use VRF (virtual routing forwarding) for the PPTP.
    First attachment is the configuration that worked,
    then is the broken configuration.
    When connecting from a Windows client, the process would hang up at "verifying username and password". What's more, I used Wireshark and found that for the broken config, after pptp negotiations, the GRE data that contain ppp data cannot be exchanged, it seems the router cannot find way back for the GRE.

    Thank you for your reminding me of this. I'am newly here, and I am really sorry that I've made you uneasy. But firstly, I doesn't think GFW is something officially documented in China's legislation. In fact, it is something the government tried to conceal but already known to all. So breaking through it is not illegal.
    And what I want is just to get access to gmail, wikipedia, twitter, facebook, instagram and so on. And what's more, GFW has once blocked github and now, it blocks google entirely. I am a technical ecstasy not a politician. I just want to learn more freely.
    Thank you all the way. And I feel fairly good with such a warm-hearted community. The arch wiki has really teached me a lot. Thank you.

  • BUG: Entering a "version" when deploying to a WebLogic server doesn't work

    By default when deploying to a weblogic server the "Version" is set to v2.0. If you change that to something like v2.1 when the application is deployed, the deployment logs still show the Version=2.0. What needs to be done to get the Version in deployment to accept the changes on the deployment form?

    Sorry, I wasn't clear. This is a Portal application deployed using MDS. So it doesn't have the file referenced in that blog post. The Version field I'm referring to is on the form that pops up to set the MDS repository. For reasons unknown it will always come up v2.0 even during the first deployment. Regardless of what I change it to the Version always equals 2.0 in the deployment logs.

  • Publishing server doesn't work - error 'The request URL doesn't contain the query string for the client OS'

    Hi,
    I'm trying to setup an App-V environment in my lab.
    I've used the App-V 5.0 Trial guide to help me configure all necessary components.
    I'm able to install everything without error.
    when come time to publish an app, it simply doesn't show up on my client.
    after looking at events on the client and server, I found that the Publishing server is returning under Admin the following message.
    'The request URL doesn't contain the query string for the client OS'
    My setup is pretty simple.
    App-V Server managament and Publishing on the same box
    App-V database on my SQL server.
    I'm able to see the publishing "webpage" by using http:://localhost:889.
    It only display this :
    -<Publishing Protocol="1.0"
    <Packages />
    </Publishing>
    I've published one app from the management console.

    thanks

    Hi,
    thanks for the link.
    I've validated the suggested debug steps. It seems that the problem is with my Publish server again.

  • JDeveloper and Weblogic Server - DOESN't WORK

    Hi All,
    Yesterday, I was working fine with JDeveloper 11.1.1.6 until I tried to do a deployment (like normally I do) and Weblogic wouldn't start. It was giving me an error, something like 'premature end of file' and security stuff. However, my colleagues told me to rename the folder defaultDomain under C:\Users\Alejandro\AppData\Roaming\JDeveloper\system11.1.1.6.38.61.92. So I did. It didn't help.
    I restarted the computer, reinstalled JDeveloper in a new middleware nothing. I created a new Windows user and repeated the process. Nothing.
    My log when creating the domain is

    Really don't know much about your problem but whenever i have weired problem like these..... (it has happened twice in last one year) I just renamed that sytem 11.1.1.6.38.61.92 folder
    next time i start Jdev, it creates this folder and everything started working fine.... the main problem here is that.... you have to setup your connections, version control and other weblogic specific items again...... from my experience, that has been worked out well.....
