Vrml -- pdf axis messed up

For some reason Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro Extended changed axis in the view (small colored axis in low left corner):
-Y (wrl) -> Z (pdf)
Z (wrl) -> Y (pdf)
As a result the front view in Acrobat correspond to bottom view in
Cortona. Don't see any control over axis in Acrobat translation.
Is it feature or known bug?

Hello,
You are right orientation of the default view is different from the native CAD software using Acrobat 3D.
This is a known issue,we are working on this for a future version of APEX, but nothing has been scheduled yet and I am not able to provide you a date or version for the implementation of the fix
However using Adobe 3D Reviewer orientation of the standard views can be defined by the user and therefore you can be able to obtain the same result than in your native CAD software.
Go to Preferences/Views Management and modify the standard view press OK
Import your sample file and then export it to PDF,
You will obtain a PDF file with the part orientated as in the native CAD software...
I hope this could be helpful.

  • Using Fill & Sign on Flat Forms Results in PDFs with Messed Up Entries, How to Prevent This?

    Hi,
I am hoping you can help me out here:
Adobe advises to use the "Fill & Sign" function to fill in a "flat" PDF form. (Acrobat Help | Fill and sign PDF forms)
However, doing so results in a filled-in PDF that can be printed OK: (the below screenshot is from the print, which I rescanned)
But opening the PDF again, it looks like this: (I just lost an hour of work as I did not print the first try, it happened again on second try, but this time I had printed)
Why is this happening? How can I prevent this from happening? What are alternative (digital) ways to filling in a flat PDF form / what is the most effective way of doing this?
    Thank you for all ideas!
(latest Adobe Acrobat, 11.0.10, on latest Mac OS X, 10.10.3)

    Hi,
The ",screenshot is from Adobe Acrobat (saved and reopened the same file), it also looks the same in Preview and in Chrome.
The font is (should be) Helvetica, it is one of the four fonts listed on the top of the alphabetical list of all fonts (which I take as "recommended"), and it was the pre-selected font.
There are also line breaks in "messed up" PDF that I definitely did not type in...

  • File Links in PDF getting messed up when viewed in browser

When we put a file link in a PDF (\\servername\sharename\directory\file.doc) and display that PDF in a browser, when we click on that link, it becomes http://webname/servername/sharename/directory/file.doc which does not work at all.
I have tried the current versions of Reader 8 and 9, as well as an old copy of 6.1 in browsers ID6/7/8 and Firefox 3.5.
Our web unit insists that it didn't used to do this.
If I change the Reader option to not open inside the web browser, then clicking on the file link works fine. It's just when Reader opens up in the browser that we have this problem.
Anyone else run into this? Our folks really like Reader inside of the browser.
    Thanks.

This is a post for Adobe Acrobat, not Adobe Reader as it is a functionality issue with Acrobat.  It is peculiar, I am having the same problem when I save the file to a local Windows Home Server.
I have a link called file://whsservername/foldername and it becomes file://whsservername/foldernamewherepdfislocated////whsservername/foldername which is totally convoluted.  I am trying to research a solution for this but if anyone else knows what settings to change in Acrobat that would be a great help to post.

  • Stock chart's time axis messed up?

The DJI chart is showing data for February in the 1 yr view. In other views the time scale shows wrong months. Anyone else seeing this?

    roaminggnome wrote:
I don't see the problem. The chart shows every other month. It just so happens that February is the month it ends on. In March it will show April, in May it will show June and so forth.
Yes, I can see why the axis itself would have a label for February, that is not the issue. The issue is that the DATA (the chart line) extends to the end of February. The line should end half way between December and February.

  • Firefox pdf viewer garbles embedded text on some of our pdfs (on Mac OS Mavericks). They're fine in Safari or when downloaded. This is a major problem.

Firefox pdf viewer messes up text on pdfs and makes them unreadable. These fonts are embedded, so there shouldn't be a problem. The pdfs are fine when viewed in Safari or Chrome browsers. Also fine when viewed through Acrobat. Telling me to change my default browser isn't good enough. Visitors to our web site won't know this.

The latest stable and latest development versions of the built-in PDF viewer are available as an extension and these version can possibly perform better than the version shipped with the current Firefox release.

  • PDF file graphics are poor - AI to Word to Acrobat

I've been learning to use AI to build the simple, mostly vector, grapics I want available to Word and other end points like web.  Sizing and then exporting AI files to PNG and then using those directly in web apps works fine.
The story isn't so good for grapics put into Word.
After trying a number of options, taking the graphic to a TIFF worked best for viewing in Word.  But when converted to a PDF the images (lines, text) errodes noticably.  I'm assuming that's because I'm having Acrobat convert a raster image.  I'm also assuming that manipulating the image (e.g. line width, font size, etc.) will not improve things although, if I'm wrong, I'd like to hear back.
I decided that getting the vector objects into EMF files would help but that actually produced poor results when viewed in Word.
It may be the method I'm using so if there's some wisdom about AI to Word to Acrobat I'd appreciate hearing it.
    Thanks
    Tom

I do not use WORD, but another word processor that allows me to see the format of the graphics as bitmaps or metafiles. The imported vector files are metafiles (this is a form of vector file used in Windows. Imported bitmap files are kept as bitmap files. There are some conversions that depend primarily on the compatibility of the graphic vector form and the windows metafile format. The results are generally excellent for me. What you could do is import in general formats like eps (include a bitmap if you want to see it in word and print to PDF to see the actual vector form), an emf file saved from AI (it should be retained as a vector form), and a bitmap, then also include clipboard versions of the same files from the original vector and bitmap files. You can judge for yourself. I am still interested in the comment from the other individual about not using the clipboard and why.
EPS is a vector graphic format developed by Adobe (as I recall, would have to look at my graphic book to be sure) along with PS files. It allows a bitmap preview file to be included -- what you see on screen in WORD. EMF files should be able to be loaded from the insert pictures menu in WORD (it is there in my WORD 2007 along with EPS and WMF files -- I do not there are any other formats that support vectors there). WMF is the old Windows MetaFile format and EMF is the Enhanced Windows MetaFile format. Actually, EMF and WMF files can include both vector and bitmap formats, similar in a sense to what Adobe can do I guess with PDF. The standard EMF is what is actually used in the clipboard. You can get more info at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Windows_Metafile. A similar discussion of EPS file is at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Encapsulated_PostScript. The main difference between the EMF and clipboard in WORD is that they are scaled differently when inserted. One problem with vector graphics in WORD 2007 and 2010 is that fonts of the text are not embedded. So someone without the fonts and looking at the WORD file would not see the proper text -- this is a MS issue introduced with their XML form of a DOC file. It is even messed up in their DOC compatibility format.
The AI file format is supposed to actually be a variation on the EPS file format from what I have read -- Apparently EPS is an outgrowth of AI?
In any case, the WORD file may not show the EPS file correctly. It appears that WORD 2007 does an attempt at displaying the result, but with errors (I have been looking at some line drawings and the WORD display shows line breaks. I printed the various forms of graphics in WORD to a PDF and the results for the EPS was not good. I think this may be a MS issue, but am not sure. Actually, the WORD converter to PDF even messed it up. That would suggest that at this point, EPS is not a good choice because of the way WORD handles things.
Don't know that my long winded description helps or not.
The EMF file can be inserted with the Insert>Picture menu. If you use the special paste, you can insert either WMF or WMF versions from the clipboard. Generally the results are the same. From my short experiment with EPS and WORD 2007, it looks like the result is a problem. However, that could have been the EPS save of my application, don't know. The best way to see what works for you is to do what I just did and that is create a vector graphic and save it as EMF and EPS. Then clipboard it into work and insert both the EMF and EPS in the picture menu. See what the result looks like and then also print to PDF and see what you get. Then draw your own conclusions rather than depending on someone like me who is just indicating results I have gotten.
    Good luck.

  • Help w/ upgrade (corrupt) CS4 - CS 5.5 ; MSOffice 2007 - 2010

    Hello:
I recently conducted a LONG phone-based support incident, and I have reviewed the many KB articles on my topic(s) but I still have some questions.
    ISSUE:
I need help with uninstalling & cleaning up CS4 in order to cleanly install CS5.5, coincident with a planned upgrade from Office2007 to Office2010 on a Win7(x64) SP1 PC.  I use fully-licensed educational versions of Adobe CS & MS Office products.
In particular, I need to know if I should upgrade Office2007 to Office 2010 BEFORE uninstalling CS4 and installing CS5.5, or the other way around?
    Background:
    1) Several weeks ago, Adobe PDF Printer in Acrobat 9 of my long-standing, fully-patched CS4 install inexplicably disappeared from my system.
    2) TMAVLSS, After several long weeks of phone assistance with escalated Tech Support, including attempts to repair the PDF printer, reinstall it, uninstall drivers, reinstall it again, etc we were unsuccessful.  Failure was ultimately attributed to "core driver package" corruption.
    3) All other components of CS4 have continued to work just fine, including Acrobat, as well as scanning to pdf from my HP printer, "saving" Word docs as pdf.  But I have been getting by without Adobe PDF Printer.
    4) It was suggested that we completely uninstall CS4 and reinstall it.  Since I knew CS5.5 was soon to be released, I opted to wait.
    5) I now have a boxed educational version of CS5.5 and a licensed, educational DVD of MSOffice 2010 Pro.
    6) So I think I have everything to proceed, but I am a bit uncertain about the correct sequence to do this.
    7) One other wrinkle is that KIS2012 has just been released.  Upgrade will require that I first uninstall KIS2011.
    Questions:
    1. Should I perform the Office upgrade first, or should I upgrade Adobe CS first?
    2. I assume, given the unresolved issues with the Adobe PDF Printer in my Acrobat 9 component of CS4, that I should perform a complete uninstall of CS4 & perhaps all Adobe Products (Including Adobe AIR), then run the CS4-5 removal tool, and only then attempt to cleanly install CS5.5?
    3. Would it be advisable -- to avoid potential subtle AV or firewall issues -- to perform the Office and CS upgrades with KIS uninstalled (taking into account the requisite security considerations)?
If Adobe staff monitor this board, and if they would like the details/case number of my recent extended Tech Support incident, please let me know, and I will provide it via PM.
In the interim, I most certainly appreciate your assistance and advice!
    RM

    Hello, mylenium:
    Thanks for your reply.
Kindly indulge my concern about this.
I am not a computer geek, but I have been working with PCs long enough to know that it often helps to plan ahead.
I am just looking to get a clean, uncorrupted install of CS5.5 DS Educational, with minimal risk.
Adobe CS is a LARGE, complex package, deeply integrated into the OS and other programs, and installation of which has been troublesome from time to time over the years.
And it has certainly cost me countless hours of frustration recently, trying to resolve the PDF Printer mess, especially since TS ultimately left my system in worse shape than it was when I first called.
I am not looking for guarantees or assurances.
I am really just looking for answers to my original questions.
(As far as the security stuff is concerned, I have the info I need on that from another source.)
    So:
    1) You say, "you will have to run the Cleaner Tool eventually", but do not say at what point in the process. I assume I will need to follow the tutorial posted in the Help section of the CS web site.
    2) You say, "...None of that has anything to do with Microsoft's apps".  Could you please tell me, though, whether I should perform the Office upgrade FIRST, or the Adobe CS5.5 upgrade FIRST?
    3) I am confused by the "dumb file overwrite process" you mention.  If I will be UNinstalling CS4 and running a cleanup tool prior to cleanly installing CS5.5, what files would remain to be over-written? (I am not planning an in-place upgrade from CS4 to CS5.5.)
Thanks very much for your patience and consideration,

  • Oracle based ERP

    Hello All,
Question for you, I am the operations manger for a small company in Tampa. We run an ERP system that is Oracle based and we have recently started having problems generating PDF files from invoices and p.o.'s and now some reports also. I contacted the tech guys over at the software company that developed our ERP and told them what was going on. The reply I got back said that this didn't seem to be an issue with the erp and that it was probably a low level framework issue. I'm not sure what any of it means but I have to fix this even if I have to do it myself. Is there anyone out there that has had similar issues and figured out how to fix them? One other thing, this issue seems to only happen on client computers as I can log onto the server directly and generate as many of these pdf's as I want without a problem, but on the clients I might be able to do 1 or 2 then it freezes sometimes I can be trying it the first time and it freezes and others maybe 6 then bam. Any help would be much appreciated, if this is the wrong forum for this question point me in the right direction and I will put the query there. Thanks

Database doesn't mean framework, the question is beyond this forum.
However, you might mention the erp and what software and platform it is running on, including versions, maybe someone can point you then.  I'd ask the vendor what exact framework they are talking about.  Sometimes there are products like Optio to translate the output from the database, served from some other server.
I know I've seen the automatic updates from Adobe for pdf's mess things up, turn those off and make an IT standard.

  • Making a DVD that will play on windows XP

    Hello,
I am trying to make a DVD for a client that will play on a Mac, a regular DVD player, and on a PC. The DVD will also have PDF's to access. I have given instructions to open the PDF's because I didn't want to mess with DVD@ccess.
So far the DVD plays well on everything, even Windows Vista, but will not play on my clients computer. She is using Windows XP. She plans on making about 5000 copies, but is concerned that some people will have the problem that she is having.
Is there something I can do to make it play on her computer?
Are the PDF's messing things up?
If she takes my DVD to a big time production house to duplicate, will that clear up the issue?
I feel like I might lose her soon, and she has about 80 more jobs for me. I don't know what to do!
Thanks for any help you might offer. I'm going crazy!

Windows computers do have a lot of "issues". The first thing you can do is make sure she is using a DVD player other than Windows Media Player (the absolute worst). PowerDVD, WinDVD, etc all have better chances of playing DVDs. Remember to use simple logic. If it plays on Macs, it plays on Vista, it plays on stand alone DVD players, and it plays on other Windows XP computers (it does, trust me) but it doesn't play on her computer… there must be something wrong with her computer.
Is there something I can do to make it play on her computer?
No, because the DVD isn't the problem, it's the client's computer that is the problem. Now, Windows Media Player is notorious for having problems with DVD-R and DVD+R discs. Sending it out for replication to DVD 5 discs might allow her to play the DVD… but there are no guarantees, she could be having a whole host of other problems.
You do realize that even if you do get it to work on her computer, you are guaranteed to get somebody using Windows saying, "It doesn't play." And the reason could be that they only have a CD drive… There is no "foolproof" solution.

  • Hated RAID card removed, now what?

Finally, after three years of pain and suffering, the RAID card is de-installed.
It was easier than expected. Backed up my three old drives (that were converted into "enhanced JBOD" long ago), installed an extra drive (formatted with DU) and cloned the startup drive on it.
Pulled the card, generally reversing the procedure described in www.caldigit.com/Support/CalDigitRAIDCardGettingStarted(2.2.0).pdf. Messing with the lower of the two screws holding the fan module was a *****.
Surprisingly, the "enhanced JBOD" drives (that I thought would be unreadable without the card) are perfectly readable. I was expecting that I'd have to reformat them. But the system booted up right away from one of them, and everything seems to be working.
The question is: do I still need to reformat those drives? Should I expect any troubles from them - since they were formatted with RAID utility and through the card that is no longer there?

    Thanks!
    Then I believe I'm done.
(Had I known it's that easy I'd get rid of it two years ago. The notion of a RAID controller that fails more often than any of the disks it manages with is ridiculous. But someone somewhere wrote that the disks that this card had touched would not work without it, even if they were JBOD.)

  • Multiple Thread of a xml publisher report - messed up fonts in the PDF out

We are running 60000 invoices at a given time. In order to get the job done faster, the xml publisher report is set up to run mulitple threads. Each thread running unique set of invoices.
I am seeing this issue, randomly.
The pdf output of the invoice is having the fonts messed up. font 10 shows up as 14 and the invoice looks very bad.
When i rerun the same set of invoices it looks absolutely normal.
Also if I retrieve the xml output of the bad pdf and view it through the xmlpub desktop, it looks perfectly fine.
Two times we saw this issue
    PRODUCTION
    - when i run 8 threads, i saw this issue in one of the thread and affected one invoice. (Production- 1 concurrent processing node+ 5 OPP processes and 5 threads + MEMORY is J:oracle.apps.fnd.cp.gsf.GSMServiceController:-mx3072m )
    TEST INSTANCE
    - when i ran with 16 threads, one of the thread running xml pub report affected all the invoices (UAT environment-1 concurrent processing node+ 7 OPP processes and 1 threads + MEMORY is J:oracle.apps.fnd.cp.gsf.GSMServiceController:-mx3072m )
Looks like it is happening when running multiple threads.
The formatting command or information is getting lost somewhere and the report is all messed up.
    Please advise.
    Thanks

Really appreciate your response. Can you pls give little more details.
1] Are there any standard API's which I can use to submit XML publisher report from the JSP pages
2]Is there any sample code snippet for any of the options that I can refer to..or pls let me know the API's, I will check on them

  • Word to PDF Messes Up Formatting

    Hello Forum,
I have a Word Document that does not translate exactly the same to PDF when I convert. I'm using Adobe Acrobat Pro.  It is only messing up with one page out of a 43 page document, and it's not a problem with the cover page or anything.  It seems like maybe it is adding one additional line to the page in question when converting to the PDF?  If I go back to the Word document and delete one line of text on that page, the pagination issue is fixed.  And the documents look identical again.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated!!!
    Thanks!
    Emily

I'm using Word 2003 and Adobe Acrobat Pro v. 9.  Unchecking the "Use Printer Metrics to Layout Documents" box worked perfectly!  For future reference, find it by doing Tools > Options and then selecting the Compatibilty tab.  Thanks!!
