W500 ex-corperate model locked out - Help Help Help?

Hi there. I have ex-corperate W500. The screen broke and because of the laptops age, my work scrapped the PC, which was given to me. I have removed the screen.
I have tried to start the machine using a external monitor. But the pc has locked me out. Showing a black screen and two logo's which include a pc and a lock sign:
I have tried starting the PC and pressing the thinkpad blue button, the F1, F2, F8, F12 keys and it goes to this locked out setting every time.
Is it possible to unlock this PC and what is needed?
New motherboard?
New harddrive?
New CPU?

I think any of them would work. W500 came with 512MB RAM ATI/Intel switchable graphs. The hardware maintenance manual (HMM) from Lenovo lists the following FRU numbers:
42W8132
42W7981
42W8106
42W8133
42W8134
If you don't need the power of ATI you could go for a T500 motherboard with Intel graphs, they're cooler and a little less prone to failure like the switchable models. FRU numbers are:
42W7978
42W8104
42W8129
42W8130
HMM can be downloaded from here: click me!
Happy hunting!

  • Possable Connection Lock Out, Help

Hi recently My main PC died on me, annoying yes as I do not have the money for repairs, currently I am using one of two old redundant spare computers.
This one is is a Parckard Bell with an intergrated Graphics Card, as I use mu PC for games that is a bit of a problem, my other one however would be able to run my chosen game, (Star Trek Online)
And now comes the problem, the other PC is an old one, i only stopped using it because it had been internet locked for Internet Spam based Virus, virus i was unsucsesful in removing hence its Internet Locked status.
Time passed and here we are, im sure the reason for this cry for help is becoming clear.
After talking to an american friend of mine, he sugested calling my ISP and telling them about the Lock Out, he had said they shoud be able to unlock said computer and as time had passed.
Removing the pesky virus should be much easier, most up to date Anti Virus programs should be able to clear anything from back in the early 2000.
Now my problem is not exactly knowing who to call, or what can be done, any help getting my PC unlocked and healthy would be greatly apreciated.
    With Thanks
    Mathew Berry

The only way an ISP could recognise a computer is by its IP address but this is usually hidden behind the router firewall. So all the ISP can usually see is your routers IP address or rather they know the ip address issued to you. So they could only really ban you of their network not an individual computer. Unless they somehow hacked into your router to stop it connecting to the infected pc (very doubtfull). If I were you I would format the pc and install your programs again, to get rid of the virus. Then have a go at connecting to your router. No way I can see that it will be banned.

  • E3000 Router Lock Out - HELP!!!!

Ok per tech chat yesterday they told me I'd have to uninstall and reinstall the Cisco Connect Software AFTER resetting my router.  So I uninstalled the software, reset the router (with the power on I assume) and then when I tried to get back into my router I couldn't  The Cisco Connect software tells me that the router is already configured (and doesn't install) and because I had changed the password, there is no easy setup key to use.
THe error I get from the Cisco Software is:
    Error code: 82BD0100
Error description: The administrator password is incorrect.
    Model name: unknown
    Model number: E3000
    Serial number: unknown
    Firmware version: unknown
Operating system: Windows XP SP 3
    Software version: 1.1.10049.0
    Connection type (WAN): unknown
    IP address (LAN): unknown
    IP address (WAN): unknown
Computer IP address: 192.168.0.102  ==> Becaues my DSL is 192.168.1.1 the router sets itself to 192.168.0.1
I have tried nothing in the login and admin in the password, I have tried my old admin password and NOTHING works.
So right now I can't get INTO the router to set up anything, which means I have no idea on the Wireless keys etc.
Did I reset the router correctly with the reset on the back with it powered on?
I was on the phone with tech support for like 25 minutes and I have to get on a conference call.
ANY HELP WOULD BE APPRECIATED in getting this back to where I can get into it.

    Nevermind...I got it.
I had to connect to the router by itself first (because my DSL modem is 192.168.1.1) and then type in the password in the web interface.  Then I reset the IP to the 192.168.0.* subnet and connected it back up to the DSL modem.  I'm back in but quite a few gyrations.
Of course the Cisco COnnect software will no longer install but oh well.

  • Itunes updated files and now I'm locked out - help

So I just plugged my Ipod classic into the PC to charge it and Itunes opens up and says 'updating files'.
The old files (over 20gb of music and movies) are still on it, but it looks in the usage bar to have compartmentalized them off.
It then copied the whole lot over again... so now all the same files are on it twice.
And when I turn it on it has no files. No music, movies or the games i've downloaded. Nothing.
2 days ago I logged into my apple account on Itunes and downloaded a game for the Ipod. It didn't try to update it then, and didn't earlier today when I plugged it in. But this time it did what I mentioned above.
So now I can't access any of my music or movies on it. Help.
Will I have to restore it and start again?
EDIT: I've just plugged it in again, and it has added the 2nd lot to the compartmentalized files and tried to copy it all over again. So I forced it to stop syncing and ejected it.

    Nevermind.
I called the number on my warranty we ended up having to restore it and start over.
Still don't know what caused the issue in the first place, so ill leave this marked as unanswered for now.
If anyone knows why it would do it please let me know

  • Did full reset now I am locked out help

    help

Plug your iPod into your machine with iTunes open. Hold the sleep (lock) and home button for ten seconds. After ten seconds release the sleep (lock) button but keep pressing on the home until you hear the device connect. This will put it into DFU (Default Factory Unit) mode. iTunes should recognize it at this point.
Once iTunes recognizes the device, it will show a message saying that it has detected a device in recovery mode, click ok then restore.

  • Locked out of additional internal drives... Help please

Any help would be more then welcomed as I did something stupid and need a bit of help to fix it please.
Had an issue today on my Mac Pro (2.8, Quad 5.1). All was running fine until I went to update a piece of 3rd party software (Fetch). After the download I went to drag new version into my apps folder and was told I didn't have permission to instal the app.
Now to be clear, I've had a bit of an issue with this before as I'm running 2 mac pros in different locations and drag and copy files and folders from here to there on a regular basis via FTP and external drives. I also have all 4 slots filled on both systems with various drives set up for a particular function along with a number of externals. I've set permissions on both systems and all drives to "read and write" for both my accounts to have full access and each time "apply to enclosed items" was selected.
But for some reason, from time to time, I have to authorise the file transfer. Haven't figured out the reason but it's not a huge deal so have left it.
Today was the first time I have had access denied for my home folder when working from same system. Not thinking and while on the phone to someone (this is where I did the stupid part), I opened the info on my boot (startup) drive and decided to add both of my user accounts and change permissions for each in addition to the system, admin and everyone that was already there. This was done while working from it directly and then set options to "apply to enclosed items". Yea, smart I know.
About 20 minutes passed and then it told me that it didn't like any of my system extensions. I was forced to do a restart and got the spinning wheel for about 30 minutes. Had to do a force quit and open in single user. Applejack wouldn't help at all, nothing. Had to then open cd drive through terminal just to get systems disk inside.
Restarted from systems disk and tried a simple disk utility repair. System restarted fine but I noticed that I was then locked out of all of my additional internal drives, iDisk included (padlock shown on all drive icons excluding my Boot/Startup drive). Tried opening info on the various drives with apple i option and "permissions denied" popped up each time.
I then took the step to restore from time machine. Set my restore selection to about 2 hours before I became an idiot. After it was finished I restarted the system hoping that would clear up my mistake but same thing, still locked out of all of my drives aside from boot/startup drive.
All user accounts that I have added to the boot drive are still showing, I have yet to try and remove them... Figured I would ask for help before I messed it up any further. Spoke to apple care and they have advised me to do what I have done so far.
Aside from an erase and instal, what steps should I take from this point? Will removing the added accounts clear up the issue?
Also, any idea as to why I was refused permissions to begin with...?
Thanks in advance and sorry for the book, just wanted to be as clear as possible.

  • Locked out of my iPhone 4 but iTunes won't let me restore it. Help!

I'm locked out of my iPhone 4 but when I try to connect it to iTunes to unlock and restore it, iTunes is requiring me to enter my passcode on my phone, which the phone won't let me do because I'm locked out. Help please!?

You need to restore using the computer you previouisly synced with, otherwise you'll be asked for the passcode.
You didn't forget your passcode (that you use every day) AND lose the computer you sync with on the same day, right?  In that case, get the passcode from the phone's actual owner, or use recovery mode.
