W510 Need Digital sound out like I had with my old T61P in the dockingstation

Hi all
I maybe getting a W510 as a replacement for my T61P, a exchange there have 2 sides, first The W510 looks just so nice, and the i7 CPU rocks, but **bleep** have Lenovo been thinking when they removed the SPDIF port from the Docking station?
I Use it all the time, and if I have to change to W510 I need a digital out of some kind, and the only solution to it then will be a 3rd part USB sound card, but Where do I get a supported USB Soundcard for Linux?
I don't know a single person there owns a part like that, and I just can't find any cases on people there use 3rd part USB sound card with Linux.
Any suggestion or help would be extremely helpful?
Best would be someone there use a USB soundcard with there Linux Desktop, there can confirm it works..

I have a W510 now and I very much would like to have an answer too? Switching from an old ASUS to a brand new expensive notebook I get "high" definition audio that gives me high noice, low dynamics and poor clearity in audio. That goes for both the pc and the docking station. What on Earht did the developers think of? An SPDIF device costs only a few cents on prodution level and it makes a world in differance in the feel of overall quality!

(unless your reciever only has digital optical(toslink) in?My experiment worked! alss ya need to connect from the sound cards digital out to your recievers coax digital audio?in is: "mono" mini (/8 inch) male to rca style male coax cable. you may have to choose digital only and somy other tricks from a given creative software(?they vary)?and or select the correct input for a given reciever....my Harman Kardon avr 00?and avr 300 series?are particularly tricky. How can I adjust the contrast of video on my MacBook Pro Retina so they don't look like they were filmed with an old sock over the lens?

I'd like to watch movies and TV shows, downloaded from iTunes or Amazon, on my MacBook Pro Retina, but they all look like they were filmed with an old sock over the lens. Daytime sequences look muddy, and night time sequences are incomprehensible with anything but the brightest objects rendered as black. I can watch the same files on my old MacBook Air and everything looks right, but no manner of tweaking seems to let me watch movies on my new machine.
I've tried adjusting the gamma. It's a bit better when gammas is set to 1.0, but I can't seem to set a gamma less than one. I tried using the Accessibility Contrast control, but it just lowers the contrast, swallowing my desktop into the dark abyss. I tried Applecare, but they don't have a clue. I tried the Apple Store. The "genius" confirmed that it is indeed impossible to watch movies shot anywhere but in the brightest sunlight on a MacBook Pro Retina, and it isn't just my machine, but every similar model in the store. He arranged for someone who really understands color profiles to give me a call, but Apple seems to have dropped the ball on this.
Is there some tool for stretching out the darker grays in Apple video? I don't want calibration. My impression is that my display, like the dozens I checked at the Apple Store are calibrated to make all dimmer grays appear completely black. I want uncalibration so I can actually see what is going on in the movies even if something is in a light shadow or shot at night. Hollywood has lots of trained technicians who can light and shoot night scenes that are quite comprehensible. I've watched a number of such scenes on my old MacBook Air. Now, I'd like to enjoy their artistry on my MacBook Pro Retina.

Why MSI gt70 or gt72 dont have digital sound out?

why? If I dont use HDMI I am left only with line out, which is analog signal. SOmetimes HDMI has too much lag for a specific game so I need to use optical sound out without HDMI

I'm setting up my new iMac and need digital audio out.

If it''s got a optical out on the computer and your amp has optical in then you should just be able to use a toslink-to-toslink cable to connect them and set your sound output preferences to digital out.
If your imac has a 3.5 mm audio/optical combo-jacks then you need a toslink-to-miniplug (toslink) cable. Still set the sound out to digital out.

I'm trying to use the digital in/out on my G5 with LogicPro

I've been trying to setup my G5 dual 2.0 (10.4.6) and LogicPro 7.2.1 using the digital in and out of the G5, the problem I'm having is that I cannot make the clock source stay as external, it keeps jumping back to internal even-though it is connected properly to my Digidesign 192 interface's lightpipe.
When I use the Motu 828 it locks to the 192's clock source just fine.
Is there something I'm missing, or is it just not possible?

I'm using Protools on a different computer, all I need is to get the internal Digital In/Out of my G5 dual 2.0 to accept an external clock source, the clock source comes from a 192 I/O interface being used on a G5 dual 2.7 with Protools.

HT201401 sound out of ear speaker very low turned up all the way sounds muffled

can barley hear out of ear speaker with music or on calls loud speaker works fine ear phones work fine just ear speaker very quiet tried restore from itunes no help do i need to replace the ear speaker or is there something else i could try, tried sucking on speaker and blowing it out no help.

- Try cleaning out/blowing out the headphone jack. Try inserting/removing the plug a dozen times or so.

- Reset all settings

- Restore from backup
- Restore to factory settings/new iPod.
- Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store. Seems you have a bad headphone jack.

Need all sound out of both speaker, no stereo

How do i get all the tracks of the audio to come out of BOTH speakers. I want all sounds to come out of both speakers exactly the same. Ideas?

You have recorded your tracks in stereo. Switch them to mono.
To record stereo tracks you would need two input sources (two mic's left and right). If you record from one guitar or one mic that will be mono.

Not getting sound out of a speaker with my Zen Xt

I've had my Zen Xtra for 5 months. I've enjoyed it every day. But today, I began listening to it and to my surprise, no sound came out of the right speaker! It wasn't my headphones, as I soon found out. It is my Zen Xtra. I've read around this site and found to my great disappointment that there is nothing that can be done about this. This obviously didn't make me too happy, as it seems that I spent a good deal of money on a portible hard dri've. I've heard of things like this happening before with creative MP3 players. In fact, I've had two of my friends who had the same thing happen with their Zen Micros. I don't know how commonly this happens, but I'd assume it happens enough if you said something about it in the FAQ. This is a major blow to my customer satisfaction. I figure I've got a few options:
? Return my Zen Xtra for an insane fee (about half the price of it minimum) for it to be repaired, although this shouldn't have ever happened
? Attempt to fix it myself, which probably won't turn out too well
? Li've with it, but no longer recommend it to anyone or show it off in public again, and slowly save up for a product that works better
Gi'ven my options, I'll probably just li've with it, but seriously Creative, this is a problem on your part if it keeps happening very often. More than one person that I know has been swayed never to buy MP3 players from you again. Don't get me wrong, they are great. But you're obviously messing something up with the headphone jack.
Oh, and if anyone knows of a way to fix this, please help me do so.

The early Xtras and Micros are well known for developing this fault, although at what level it's hard to say.
I'm not sure where you are (or not) in the warranty period, but even if out of warranty I would contact Creative and point out this is a known fault. If you get nowhere with this you can attempt a repair, but I would strongly recommend only those with surface mount soldering experience try it. There's a page here on how to do the repair, but I'm having problems loading it at the moment. So it may not exist any more.
