Want to download a file without using adobe

I opened a file that I guess shouldnt have been opened when downloading and now every time I try to download it automatically saves as adobe and when I called the company they said not to. So how can I stop it from being opened or saved as adobe?

What is your operating system? Download from where: a website? Using what browser?
Then: what kind of file? What means "saved as adobe"?
Have you tried to just download the file normally, without opening it "in adobe" (whatever that means) ?

Thanks for your prompt reply. However, the sources you gave do not seem to apply exactly to my situation. I have attached some screenshots that show what the dialogue box looks like for a pdf download, and what my settings in the Apps panel of Options are. You will note in the first screenshot that I have checked the box to handle this file type automatically; however, the next time I try to download a file of that type, the same dialogue box appears looking exactly like the one shown, so checking the "automatic" option appears to do nothing. The files to be downloaded from my Gmail messages are not generic or altered file types - they are shown as pdf, doc, docx, etc. So while your intent was good, your post did not help. Thanks anyway.

How to open a text file without using dialog box

I can open a file using dialog box but I want to open a file without using any dialog box for writing.

This is very annoying and we need this stopped as we have made no changes to any of the adobe files. Please advise how to do this.

I first tried the version without the deflated stream (so everything uncompressed) against the online repair tool to check/analyse it @ https://www.pdf-tools.com/osa/repair.aspx
And it says no error found, but the reader still want to save it when closing so i still had no clue at this point.
Fortunately, i finally found what was wrong with my generated PDF.
In my xref table, each object reference was not end by a full EOL, i only did put a newline char.
Now i have "carriage return" "newline" which is the full EOL and the reader is happy and close the file silently.
As suspected i did not follow correctly the specs on xref table
Now i'll go and figure what i did wrong with the deflate filter

copying from NFTS to Fat32 I get a prompt

the answer (for me) is always yes
is there a way to disable the prompt ?

This may be caused by the presence of NTFS Alternate Data Stream which cannot be copied to FAT32.
Either format destination as NTFS or use utility like

to scan/delete the ADS before copy. From the link above, below are some examples of when an ADS might be created

In addition to the legitimate usage of alternate streams, this technique may also be used by Viruses/Trojans/Spywares for saving data and hiding it from the user.

I want to save a Text to a PDF file. I want to assign the path of the PDF file as a default one.
If I use Print options, then it ask for the file path at the run time.
Is there any method to save to a PDF file without using print option in Labview 8.2.

In fact, it is not Possible to get the update file without using Nokia Software Updater or you should search the net to find the update files in another place and even you get them, you can not use them with NSU.
You can Update your Device with:
1 - NSU (Nokia Software Update)
2 - FOTA (Firmware Over The Air) for FP2 devices ONLY.
3 - Nokia Care Center
there is not other way to upgrade.

Opening JPG or PNG files without using PS

I want to open simple JPG's without using PS CC.   Previously, I could open JPG's or png files with Apple's Preview; I would like to return to the simple and quick tool of using Preview.
I have looked and can not seem to find a way to open my JPG or PNG files without using Photoshop.   Can you point me the way to accomplish this?

First, allow me to thank you for your reply.
Allow me to also explain that I am handicapped and have suffered the effects of five strokes in recent years and then ask for some more help from you.
When open any JPG image (or png, I think), it automatically opens in Photoshop CC (I also own PS 6). This is not the desired effect, as I would like to just see the images using Preview, which is the way it used to work (before I acquired the CC application, I believe).
I quickly tried to open an image using Preview (a PNG screen shot as you suggested), though I at a loss to use 'get info' command as you suggested, nor am I able to see the 'open with' from the drop-down in Preview. So I have to ask you for more instructions if you can assist me further?
I live in the Seattle area, if you can call me (I am always at home) at *removed for privacy*. If you could call me that would be great. With my impaired communications, I usually can understand verbal information better.

Executing bat file without using Runtime.exec()??

Hi all
From my java App ,I am running a bat file. This is what I did:
When I press 'execute' button inside my App, it runs a bat file through Runtime.exec() method. Since exec() runs it through cmd.exe, get a DOS window when I press Execute button. If I manually runs my app from command promt , I dont get it. But I have to create a short cut of my main class in the desktop. This is happening when I run my app from desktop icon.
Now I want to eleminate DOS popup everytime I press execute button. Would anyone pls give an idea how to run bat file without using Runtime.exec()? Any suggestion will be helpful.

Here is what my problem: I create a shortcut of my main class in the desktop. Through this shortcut ,I run my java App. My App has a execute button, When I press this button , It run another bat file through Runtime.exec() method, and show some result in the result PAnel. NOw what happen , I get a DOS command window , everytime I press execute button. , Which is very annoying . But If I run my App thorugh command promt by executing: "java myApp", then I dont get this DOS popup. But I have to create a shortcut in the desktop, so other can use it conveniently.
NOw I am not sure why I am getting this DOS window in the middle of my Application. IS it for using Runtime.exec() method? or for running bat file through my application? Can anyone pls tell me? I am kind of new to java, and I am learning lot of stuff from this forum .
