Want to leave BT, feel like banging my head on a b...

Ive been trying to switch my line rental to SKY, where I currently have my tv, broadband and calls anyway.
Sky have contacted me to say the request has failed due to a postcode error with BT.
They told me that they use a system called "pac man" to check the directory information register before switching anyone. They said my postcode is showing up as WF13 4BG rather than WF13 4BS. They told me to call BT and get somebody to use their version of the order request system to manually change my postcode.
None of the customer service advisors at BT have the foggiest idea what im talking about and i am now in my fourth hour of trying to sort this today alone.  I spoke to a very rude man who i eventually hung up on. I considered trying to switch to Primus - however when I enter my correct postcode and phone number, it says they do not match so they cannot complete my request. However, when I enter the INCORRCET postcode of WF13 4BG, it allows me to proceed - OBVIOUSLY IT IS A BT PROBLEM.
I cannot cope with talking to cretins at the call centre again, how can I get this sorted?

The mods have been dealing with this. I would guess that at the moment that the transfer has taken place, and they now
have a temporary "stopped" line, hence its not possible to make any calls until the exchange software initiates the number change.
If they dial 1470 17070, it will probaby read off the number of the "stopped" line.
As they have placed an order with Sky, its Sky that they need to chase up and find out when they will get their new phone number.

    Is your phone still covered by warranty?  If so, go to your nearest Apple store and depending on what happened, this may or may not be covered by warranty.  If it is, then you can get a replacement exactly as the phone you already have.
    If out of warranty, then there is nothing you can do and you'll have to pay.

    iPads sync to 1 computer only.
    All media and apps are tied to the Apple ID that purchased them.
    Without your relatives ID and password, you cannot update any of the Apps.
    I am pretty certain he is also violating Apples terms of service by giving you the apps.

  • Am I the only person that feels like the salesman lied to me, wrote up contract wrong, etc?

    I had purchased two Iphone 4's without contract and enjoyed not having the bill and extra fees every month.  Through the prepaid carrier, my son and I didn't even know we could use a laptop or anything  with our phones.  Luck would have it, the only thing I had left through Verizon was my USB device that I put on my computer and after 3 years, it broke.  I went to Verizon to purchase a new one, and pay cash for it to not be under contract, the first salesman assured me it was compatible like the other but after four days I had to take it back for lack of connection.  79.00 was what I paid, when returned, of course I got stuck paying the restocking fee of 35.00 and a new sales person named Cofe (at Jonesboro location) comes to assist me. He talked me into the wifi jetback for 20 or so with the NEW TWO YEAR CONTRACT as he understood I would be needing for portable devices.  Had to pay full price for it and wait for my 50 bucks on the rebate card.  He spots my son scoping out the 4S, he said he could make the deal worth my while if we wanted to get newer phones...never telling me how much the cost.  Against my better judgement, we got new phones, promised new free Lifeproof cases, etc.  I told him my funds were tight and I only wanted a plan of about 160 or 180 total for all.  Paid the small amount he said was due, then get a bill for 443 a couple days later.  We kept going over the data on our phones, not knowing that he in fact set us up to pay 220 a month for 10 gb data, use of jetpack and two smart phones.  Paying over for what we had on the mifi we didn't know exitsted caused us to have 30 too much on device and usually 30 overcharge data.  Fianlly look at bill wondering why I couldn't get it paid up and 6 calls to customer service, digging through receipts, 10 hours of phone bill hunting, and numerous hours on the phone brought to my attention that he had set me up on almost the most expensive plan, charged us 99 each for cases, 99 for two new contracts and swiped a gift card for 400 to my account without any knowledge.  Also, this  was a new plan since not under contract, and HE TOOK OUR PHONES that I could've sold for a small chunk and there is not a trace of where they went? He made himself a sale that day!!  They have removed some of the charges since I took back the FREE cases, etc., but this has been a horrible experience.  I begged the people to please let me out of my contract because now I am unemployed and sure cant afford this and I feel like he did some underhanded tactics selling and not starting the plan off right.  He didn't have to sell me the jetpack, we can run laptop of phones, and I guess if I were only gonna get 99 bucks for a three month old phone, I wouldve taken it elsewhere.  It's amazing that of all documents scanned in My Verizon, it does not really show a trade in, which he didn't explain anyway, nor does it show what or the actual value.  I get horrible service in my area and it drags on the web.not taking long to use the data.  In the last week, my phone was cut off so I had to go to the prepaid place and port over.  Paid enough to keep my son's phone and laptop and got told if I dont have remaining balance in a few days, they won't port my number back to Verizon, service interrupt on all and then the process server will get to bang on my door.  I have never been so disgusted with service and some of the people in that building by their actions.  One tried but of course he took up for his dude Cofe.....I don't know what to do now, try to pay it or tell them take the phones and FIND MY OLD ONES then go back prepay.  Read this customer service specialist, because I am pretty sure DECEIT, RUNNING GIFT CARDS, AND WRONGFULLY SETTING UP NEW CONTRACT is grounds for an official claim. How did y'all like that bid long confusing mess of a story?  :/

    Given that the turn off javascript option will be disabled - how do I close a page that does not allow me to leave by giving a "are you sure you want to leave" pop up question but then redirects to itself where it again asks that question perpetually?
    The only way to kill a page like that sofar was to disable javascript and then close the tab.
    Now I will have to close the browser - and possibly loose all the tabs I have open.
    I want a javascript quick switch - allowing me to easily disable javascript for any page at will.
    (esp for some of my older, slower netbooks)
    Or at least a "FORCE CLOSE" option for malicious webpages.

    Hi ronc2, there isn't a specific setting for this. Firefox's built-in JavaScript settings allow you to control several aspects of scripts*, but unfortunately not this one.
    I previously tried to find some other options for individually turning off this event, but I couldn't find a way. Someone might be able to create an add-on to solve this problem, but it will take someone cleverer than I.
    Extensions that disable scripts on a site-specific basis:
    * If you regularly visit some sites which do this, you can block JavaScript on that specific site using the YesScript extension. Unfortunately, other script-based functionality will be blocked as well.
    * YesScript does not preemptively block scripts on every site. If you have to visit a lot of random sites and want to take a paranoid approach of having scripting blocked until you see as much of the site as you can see without running scripts, then the NoScript extension would be for you. But even then it's "all or nothing".

  • I want to leave BT but no-one answers the phone

    After 20 years as a BT customer I've had enough.
    I have had no home phone line since Saturday (a line came down in the snow) and BT are saying it *may* be fixed next week. Calls are diverted to may mobile, but we live in a rural area and mobile reception isn't very good in the house. Calls are often disconnected or keep breaking up so it's difficult to have a proper conversation. And of course there is the cost of having to use my mobile to make calls. I also frequently work from home, so broadband access is a necessity for me, not a nice-to-have.
    This is the second time I've been without a phone line in just a few months. In January, a phone line came down in ourvillage. Openreach fixed it for most of the properties affected within 24 hours, but they didn't do a proper job (I was told this by the second engineer who came out to fix it properly) so our property had to wait much longer to get reconnected. They were originally quoting two weeks to fix it properly but after many phone calls (eventually getting through to a UK centre) it did get fixed after 5 days.
    As well as these major problems, the broadband service on the line often goes down for several hours at a time.
    The thing that makes it worse is the dreadful customer service offered by the call centre. I have been hung up on, told lies and generally told anything that they think will fob me off.
    I know that Openreach is a big part of the problem when it comes to the lines themselves, which will remain whoever I pay for my phone, but I am fed up of such appallingly bad customer service that I do not want BT to have any more of my money. So I tried to call them yesterday and selected the options for leaving BT. Not surprisingly given my experiences, this particular department was "experiencing an extremely high volume of calls". So I sat and waited for 20 minutes (not cheap on my mobile either) without getting a response. It's odd isn't it that if I call for general customer service they offer you the option of leaving your phone number and someone will phone you back, whereas when you are fed up enough that you want to leave they decide to make you even more annoyed by not answering your call. Though I suppose it is one tactic to retain customers.

    I'm sorry to hear you are having issues with your MacBook Pro since your recent Yosemite update. I also apologize, I'm a bit unclear on the exact nature of the issue you are describing. If you are having intermittent but persistent responsiveness issues with your mouse or trackpad, you may want to try using Activity Monitor to see if these incidents correspond to occupied system resources, especially system memory or CPU.     Depends on how you want to use it. Flash storage on the newer macbook and macbook air are built in. A macbook air is the most light weight and a very good machine. It will do all you want it to do unless you are running some very intensive programs. If you go to the apple store on line you can compare  the different macbook pro" and macbook Air's.

    Periodically I start to get "Are you sure you want to leave this page?" message in OVM Manager 3.2.1 - if I click no, I get the message again. If I click yes, it logs me out... Often without any action from my side - or in the middle of my activities (so it doesn't look like it is related to any timeout).
    I have disabled timeout in Tool and Resources - Preferences, so it is not suppose to log me out at all.
    Any idea what is going on and how to fix it?

    Very painful & I am also interested in a fix for this.
    On 3.2.1 I am also getting this message though I only notice it when I am idle by not clicking on anything on the page.
    On OVM 2.x I like to leave my screen open and it re queries the statuses. I like this UI more but the timeout or whatever is very annoying.
    While I haven't been timed out right after recently doing something, when I launch jobs that take awhile I like that it shows me how much progress has made (cloned 101G of 500G etc)... Once you get timed out you lose the status and I don't see a way to get that dynamic job progress feedback anywhere without logging into the OVS and querying the file sizes as they progress on the file system.

    Hi everyone, im not a techie chap so any easy to understand help would be grateful.
    Last 5 weeks or so since the last update my E7 emails have been deleting themselves when they feel like it but only on my pop3 mail??? My live mail has been fine. 
    I have deleted both mail accounts and re set them not accepting the terms page. Also tried a reset on the phone but nothing is helping. Any ideas please.

    Do you currently download your pop3 from another program like outlook maybe. It just has to do with the settings of the program. If the progam is not configured to leave mail on the server then after downloading, the messages will be gone. When you then synchronise with your e7 there are no messaages so all are removed from the phone. I had the same prob. The setting has to be configured from your mail client or service provider. Live mail is left on the server until you delete it. Try deleting a recent message online in you live mail account then sync with your handset. That message should also be gone from the hanset after the sync.

    As with WMP, where if you double click on a track it will begin playing and then stop at the end, how can I do this with itunes?
    Or how can I add say 4-5 tunes I feel like listening to at that time to a temporary playlist? The Dj does not do this very well because although I can add tracks and get itunes to play them next in itunes DJ, ones they are all finished the Dj will begin playing tracks from the selected source/playlist. As far as I can see it is not possible to NOT have a playlist selected in DJ.

    Highlight the tracks you want. Then use the command File > New Playlist From Selection. iTunes will immediately make a playlist from the highlighted tracks.

  • Safari 6 feels like beta software! Eeek!

    So I quickly installed Safari 6 on the day of release. I ended up with several problems.
    1. Safari 6 crashes alot more than Safari 5 did....particularly when the dev tools are turned on.
    2. Sometimes Safari 6 doesn't render the whole page. It's a really strange bug.
    3. Safari 6 is sometimes unresponsive?
    4. The dev tools don't make any sense. I was one of those who preferred to develop for Safari first. The tools seem like a HOT mess now. I like that they look new and all but they crash the entire browser or slow it down significantly at a time when I need it to work most.
    It's like working with a slightly faster less stable version of FF. Its the most unstable Webkit release I've seen so far. I can't believe developers tested this out and thought it was ready to ship or maybe Apple just doesn't want developers developing for it's products. Safari 6 feels like self sabotage.
