WAR file don't dpeloy to embedded OC4J for jdev 10.1.2

Dears,
I have fresh 10.1.2 installation on windows xp prof, I made web application, and it deploy successfully to tomcat and works fine ( it uses hibernate 3.0.5, struts 1.2.7 ), I try to debug the application into embbeded oc4j
I receive the Exception ( cannot find ActionMappings or ActionFormBeans collection ), I checked the JEDEVELOPER_HOME\jdev\system10.1.2.0.0.1811 and I searched for my application deployment and I just find the orion-web.xml
I don't think jdeveloper make the deployment on embedded OC4J, although it says Auto-deploying file ...... (new server version detected) !!!
I need help in debugging the application on OC4J, or even how to configure remote debugging to work for tomvat 5.5.9
I was using jdeveloper 9.5.2 and it was working great, I don't know what happened in this version, or it seems I'm missing something.
Thanks in advance

I reviewed the solutions, I check all code, and the problem seems that the application should be started before calling the page loaded a startup, which seems logical so struts framework should begin resolving everything.
I tried to edit the file oc4j-config\default-web-site.xml to make the application load-on-startup="true" but everytime I debug, I find that this file is overwrited everytime I try to debug with load-on-startup="false"
I even tried to change it manually and close then restart jdeveloper, but each time it is overwritten, do anyine know how to modify it inorder to solve my problem?

  • ITS.ear Wireless -- how to remove appl from embedded OC4J config JDev b4157

The embedded container configuration currently includes ITS.ear; I'd like to remove this from the default applications started by embedded container.
The JDev (10.1.3.41.57) Tools .. Embedded OC4J Server Preferences .. Applications list includes ITS. The input fields and buttons to change or Delete this web application are greyed out. Removing the <application> entry from the server.xml file in c:/JDev_4157/jdev/system/oracle.j2ee.10.1.3.41.57/embedded-oc4j/config/ only removes ITS application temporarily -- it reappeared.
I've not been able to locate a configuration that causes this to be added to the default datatags and current-workspace-app applications.
    Thanks.

Thanks for reading and checking your installation.
Don't believe it's automatic in the standard install; I only noticed it recently but I have no idea how it got activated or how to unactivate it. (You can find the EAR file in <your-JDEV-root>/wirelss/ITS.ear.) Is there a binary JDev config file storing a preference to include this in the IDE and/or container?
The <application> tag appeared in my \JDev_4157\jdev\system\oracle.j2ee.10.1.3.41.57/embedded-oc4j/config/server.xml unexpectedly but its tag's path was incorrect and so it would not auto-deploy during container start-up. When I copied the ear file from the wireless directory to the embedded-oc4j/applications folder it deployed next time I started the embedded container.
Even though I removed tags in server.xml and the default-web-site.xml in the container's config folder, and deleted the ear file and the deployed subdirectories, it continued to re-appear. Possibly I didn't always get all of these pieces. It doesn't alway reappear on the first restart; sometimes not until after the 3rd restart. That doesn't make sense to me but I haven't discerned the pattern for when it re-creates itself.

  • Setting up embedded OC4J in JDev to use P6Spy jdbc driver to Oracle

I am currently working on an OC4J application using Oracle db, with JDeveloper. I'm having some trouble with the DataSourceUserManager, in that it appears to be emitting faulty SQL, but I don't know exactly what SQL is being emitted. Today, I'm trying to see if I can interject the P6Spy JDBC driver on the database client side so I can see exactly what SQL is being emitted. I've successfully used P6Spy in the past on other projects, so I believe it can work, although I didn't use it with Oracle before.
Unfortunately, I'm having trouble figuring out how to inform JDeveloper of the location of the driver jar. I've added P6Spy as a library to my application, and I've found several XML files in my workspace and in the JDev configuration which contain an "orion-application" element, which contains "library" sub elements, several of which I've added "library" elements to specify the location of the driver jar. Despite that, when the embedded OC4J starts up, I still get this in the messages window:
Error initializing data-source 'jdbc/OracleDS': DriverManagerDataSource driver 'com.p6spy.engine.spy.P6SpyDriver' not found
Note that this occurs while OC4J is trying to initialize my UserManager subclass.
I believe there is also some facility for turning on "tracing" with Oracle, but the person who knows about that isn't here today. It would be good if I could get P6Spy working today, so I can make some progress today (which is looking more unlikely by the second).

You must place the p6spy.jar into <oc4j_home>/j2ee/home/lib directory.
The datasources are initialized before any deployed application is started, and thus the p6spy.jar wont be in the classpath >when the appserver is started (if you put the jar in WEB-INF/lib).That's correct.
Another question -- have anyone managed to get p6spy to work with a ConnectionPoolManager in a BC4J-project?? I get a ClassCastException from oracle.jbo.server.OracleSQLBuilder because it tries to cast a statement into an OracleStatement. You need to build the project using SQL92 and Java Type Map.

  • Win JDeveloper war file to oc4j instance on solaris??

    Hi,
I have been trying to get a war file that I deployed on JDeveloper (windows release candidate) set up on my solaris oc4j( version 2 dev release). I read on this forum these directions:
"Right click on the myproject.jpr in the JDev navigator and select 'new...', go to Deployment Profiles and select J2EE Web Module (WAR File) - a general screen will pop up asking you to save the deployment profile (you can just use the default if you want). Once you select OK on that, you will get a screen that calls itself the J2EE Web Module Deployment Profile Settings. This is the screen that you can use to enter your information.
Your servlet and javabean classes will go into WEB-INF/classes subdirectory that you see to your left in this window. Simply select the WEB-INF/classes entry and it will display a list of your java sources (it will only place the compiled output in this directory - there is a toggle for it).
Once you have specified that your javabean and servlet classes go in this directory, you should be set. Go ahead and save / close. In your navigation screen under your project (myproject.jpr or whatever your project name is) you will see your files, jsps, etc and something called webapp1.deploy (if you accepted the default). If you right-click on that, you will get a menu that asks a number of things, one of which is to Deploy to EAR file. Select that entry and it will create an ear file for you. You can play with the various settings to change the name of the ear file, but that's about all you have to do. Once this is completed, you can put the EAR file on your linux box or wherever you want, adjust your server.xml and default-web-app.xml files and launch the app!
EXCEPT...I did not deploy to EAR ; I deployed to war and then I just modified two config files (under j2ee/home/config)
    application.xml
    <web-module id="notesWar" path="../../home/applications/notesWar.war" />
    and default-web-app.xml
    <web-module id="notesWar" path="../../home/applications/notesWar.war" />
This seems to work , but when I set up my project in JDeveloper, I specified a target file to run, and within JDeveloper it includes the directory not just the file (which is a windows directory) so I am thinking that when I try to deploy on unix, it doesn't know what target file to run bc it can't find it, but I don't know that that information is even included in the war file... is there somewhere else you specify when you are deploying the war file which html, jsp, etc. needs to be run first. By the way, when I launch the application on the solaris oc4j via war deployment, it goes to the first html file listed in the war (I need it to go the second html file first).

    Hi,
    I am sorry; I mistyped....
I already configured default-web-site.xml with the above values.
The war file will run on the solaris oc4j instance, but it just
runs the wrong initial html. I need a login to be the target
page, but I don't know how to specify that for my particular
    situation.
If I run the application within JDeveloper on Windows
without a war file, it works. I run like this...
Right click on the (.jpr) project file and run...it will go to the
correct run target bc I have specified within the project
settings, the default run target, but when i try to run as a war,
it does not go to the correct run target so I need to know how to
specify a default run target for a war file. I did create the
war after I specified the default run target.
    Thank you!

  • Embedded OC4J (Jdeveloper 10.1.3.2) HTTP switch HTTPS

I need to debug some web application that switches between HTTP and HTTPS and back again. I have done all the required configuarion of the embedded OC4J to support this namely:
    1. create self signed certificate
    2. created a second web-site (secure-web-site.xml) that listens for https connections on another port e.g. 4443
    3. added relevant <ssl-config> entry to secure-web-site.xml
    4. Marked the relevant <web-app> element as shared in the secure-web-site.xml and default-web-site.xml files
I now start the embedded OC4J in jdeveloper and all is well, https and http work fine. However a different session is created for each of the web-sites the secure and the default (i.e one for the http and one for the https). I understand why since the browser treats http://www.mydomain.com:8988 and https://www.mydomain.com:4443 as separate web sites.
    One Solution
    ~~~~~~~~~~
    If my understanding is correct if I use the standard ports 80 and 443 then the browser would treat these as the same web site and only one cookie jsessionid cookie gets created and so only one session
    2nd Solution
    ~~~~~~~~~~
If I use non-default ports like 8888 and 4443 then I can set the cookie domain in the orion-web.xml file <session-tracking cookie-domain=".mydomain.com" /> and this ensures one jsessionid cookie is shared for the whole domain and so again only one session
Unfortunately I cannot implement either solution in the embedded OC4J since for solution one no matter what I do I cannot get the embedded OC4J to listen on port 80. It always finds a conflict and chooses a different port like 1024 even though no other process is using port 80
The second solution does not work since the orion-web.xml file gets overwritten everytime I start the embedded OC4J and so I lose any updates I make.
Does anybody have any ideas how to overcome these problems? I know I could use a standalone container but then I will lose all the convenience of testing within Jdeveloper.
    Many thanks.

    Hi,
I'll file an ER to allow developers in JDeveloper to test http and https. What I usually do - as a work around - is to open files that are change on each start of the embedded OC4J in TextPad. TextPad asks if an opened file should be reloaded when it has been changed on the filesystem. I then say "no" and safe the opened file gain, overriding the JDeveloper changes.
Its not perfect, but much better than re-editing all the files.

  • Help.jsp web app war file (how to exclude resources)

Hi, I am making a jsp/JSF application and now wanted to deploy it on a glassfish server. this is the first time i am deploying so am still learning it as i go.
I wanted to clear out something before i go ahead.
My application has tons of resuorce files (mainly huge Picture and videos) which are roughly the size of 1-2 GB. I do not want to add them to my WAR file. is it possible to exclude the resources from the war file?
How difficult would it be for me to to then link the resources folder to the deployed application?
I am running against time. i need to clear the above out to make a decision.

  • Extract WAR file while deploying

    hi
Is there any way or option which we need to give in deployment descripter to
extract the war file while deploying.
Any one can suggest me how to proceed in this aspact.

    Anand,
Can you give a context for this question? Are you packaging your J2EE modules
into an ear file and need to extract the war file? What is the use case for
    the scenario you are describing?

  • Problem in Deploying war file in oc4j

I have developed an application using struts and packaged in war file. It runs ok in tomcat server. I want to deploy it in embedded oc4j server of E-Business Suite. Please give me directions................

AFAIK, EBS 11.5.10 doesn't come with OC4J. It uses Apache Jserv which is Servlet 2.0 and with a special JSP engine. This doesn't support J2EE WAR files. It might support Struts but I'd not bet on that.
Having said that, you need to get an OC4J standalone version installed (minimum) and started by the standard EBS startup scripts.
Once this is done and if your WAR is self-contained, ie contains all the libraries, it is quite easy. Just deploy it using the command-line tools (all versions) or the web admin interface of OC4J (from 10.1.3).
Only thing you have to change is the URL in the OAF page to point to the right server...
    --olaf

  • Add virtual directory to orion-web.xml file of embedded OC4J instance

I'd like to add a virtual directory to the orion-web.xml file of the embedded OC4J application which comes with JDeveloper (version 10.1.3.3.0.4157). Every time I run my application however, a new orion-web.xml file is created which overwrites the orion-web.xml file with my virtual directory. The orion-web.xml is located in the <JDev_Home>\jdev\system\oracle.j2ee.10.1.3.41.57\embedded-oc4j\application-deployments\current-workspace-app\<app Name> directory.
Does anybody know a solution to this problem?

    hi there,
i have the same problem, all the configuration files are included in the EAR file, like application.xml,...
but the orion-web.xml is not included.
I dont have that option that you mencioned File->New->Deployment Descriptiors -> web...for oc4j...
I can create a EAR, WAR or JAR in File->New->Deployment Profiles.
I need the orion-web.xml to define the MIME types the servlet can return, is it really needed?

You might want to check these logfiles:
    D:\product\10.1.3.2.0\OracleAS_10\j2ee\home\applications\demantra\demantra\logs\collaborator.log
    D:\product\10.1.3.2.0\OracleAS_10\j2ee\home\applications\demantra\demantra\logs\integration.log
These logfiles should give you more clues. Seems it is missing some "objects", but what these objects are is rather undefined.

  • How to Redeploy application in OC4J using war file

    Hi
Am new in area of 9ias and OC4J.
I have deployed and application in OC4J of 9ias 902. using enterprise manager web interface.
now i have change the contents of current jsp and added more jsp files.
do i have to recreate war file and redeploy it in oc4j? or just copy the new version of current jsp and copy new jsp in application forlder.
in case of redeploying , exterprise manager web interface asks for .ear file.
can anyone give some hint to me... it will great help
    thanks
    samir
    [email protected]

Yes you have to rebuild the WAR file. You can deploy WAR from EMWebsite by using the deploy WAR link. If you are in development and your WAR/EAR file is constantly changing you can use standalone OC4J.
