War file won't deploy. No errors

EDIT: Never mind. Found the problem. It was connecting to the wrong database app. Thanks+_
Hi, all!
What are some of the things that could cause a web application to not deploy but wouldn't print any errors in the log? There are no errors what so ever, and the app used to work. I haven't changed web.xml or jboss-web.xml. I've put a System.out.println and a debug point in the ServletContextListener's contextInitialized method, and it looks like even that's not getting hit. When I go to the app's url I just get a generic jBoss 404 error, and the app doesn't show deployed in the Netbeans Services > Servers > Jboss > Web Applications view. The war file is getting coppied to the deploy folder and the server does try to deploy it
Here's the last 2 lines of the log (EAppDataCapture is my app):
08:50:13,265 INFO  [Server] JBoss (MX MicroKernel) [4.2.3.GA (build: SVNTag=JBoss_4_2_3_GA date=200807181417)] Started in 15s:849ms
08:50:18,657 INFO  [TomcatDeployer] deploy, ctxPath=/EAppDataCapture, warUrl=.../tmp/deploy/tmp8883488244503481935EAppDataCapture-exp.war/I'm running windows service pack 3
Java 1.6.0_20
JBoss 4.2.3.GA
This application used to work just fine and now it doesn't. :( I don't remember doing anything to it between the time it did work and now.
Could you guys give me some ideas on what sorts of things could possible make it so that deployment fails without any sort of errors in the server log?
Thanks so much!

Ok, I saw that I have the "Pm trace database" error, so I fixed it.  Now sync is giving no errors at all.  But still skips datebook and addressbook.

    Yanping, we use ANT all the time to deploy to WebSphere without a problem.
    Why don't you ask Natasha or John for some help. Otherwise, walk over to Walnut Street and ask at the Computer Support Center.

  • War Files And Their Deployment and Redeployment

    Howdy
    I have a WAR file that a developer gave me which I deployed on a Linux box no problem.
    Now I would like to add a jsp file and custom tag to this application.
    This is what I tried:
    I turned the war file into a zip file extracted the contents and then added my jsp page the class file for the custom tag modified the web.xml file for the tag and added a tld file for the tag as well.
    Then I rezipped the files and renamed to a .war file and deployed it on the linux box. The previous existing files work but my new jsp page comes up with a HTTP 404 Not Found error.
    Now the new jsp and custom tag work on my development machine just not on the live server when reployed into the other existing app.
    What am I missing? Or am I totally off with trying to redeploy the app in this way?
    Any help appreciated.
    Adam

    For deployment you need to use ant

  • WAR files (Tomcat) and deployment descriptor

    Hello,
    I am currently writing a small utility to package a web application for Jakarta Tomcat as a .war file.
    I have a functional version that imports the deployment descriptor web.xml, but I'd like to make it possible for the user to edit or create from scratch that file. I use the DOM API to make a logical model of my web.xml, but the parser won't accept the external dtd definition :
    <!DOCTYPE web-app
    PUBLIC "-//Sun Microsystems, Inc.//DTD Web Application 2.2//EN"
    "http://java.sun.com/j2ee/dtds/web-app_2_2.dtd">

    try {
    DocumentBuilderFactory factory = DocumentBuilderFactory.newInstance();
    factory.setNamespaceAware(true);
    factory.setValidating(true);
    DocumentBuilder builder = factory.newDocumentBuilder();
    document = builder.parse(in); (((*)))
    catch (...)
    }//parse
    ---------------------------------------------It seems I have no further controls on DocumentBuilder and DocumentBuilderFactory.
    The builder.parse call generates this exception :
    java.net.NoRouteToHostException: Operation timed out: no further information
    at java.net.PlainSocketImpl.socketConnect(Native Method)
    at org.apache.crimson.parser.Resolver.resolveEntity(Resolver.java:389)The problem seems to be located in DOM's DefaultHandler entity resolver, but I don't ee clearly what to do.
    Thanks for helping.

  • WAR file fails to deploy WEB-INF/classes

    Hi All
    I am attempting to get a simple JPA on JSE app running on WLS 9.1. I can deploy my WAR file and access the jsps no problem, however the WEB-INF/classes directory is empty on deployment. How can I tell if the classes are being deployed correctly? I have tried using autodeploy and console deployment, always with the same result. My war file is structured as follows:
    WEB-INF/
    WEB-INF/faces-config.xml
    WEB-INF/weblogic.xml
    WEB-INF/web.xml
    WEB-INF/classes/
    WEB-INF/classes/my/test/package/{all classes}
    WEB-INF/lib/{all reqd libs}
    index.jsp
    When I run the jsp, there are no errors, the classes just don't appear to be doing anything. The logs have absolutely nothing to help with this, I turned on app logging in weblogic.xml and it has nothing other than the initialization in it either.
    I've deployed and run the exact same app (less the weblogic.xml file) successfully on Tomcat and OC4J, any ideas out there? Am I looking in the right place for the deployed class files (Checking the WL_HOME/samples\domains\wl_server\servers\examplesServer\tmp\_WL_user\jpa-example\xb6q08)?

    Hi,
    I've faced the same issue in WLS9.2, and but it didn't affect my web application running, I guess that the classes are read from the WAR file directly, so for me to overcome this issue, I've changed the technique of how to install web application by selecting extracted war installation instead, and from the WLS Console selected
    "I will make the deployment accessible from the following location" and selected the folder that contains the extracted WAR.
    Hope this will help,
    Issa

  • Missing Render files, won't play, General Error message

    I have Final Cut Pro 5.0.4 on my Mac 1.8 Ghz Power PC G5, using Mac OS 10.4.10.
    I just opened a Final Cut Pro project and got a message that several render files were offline. No idea how that happened, and I couldn't find them to reconnect. Now, when I try to play the video, it stops and a "General Error" message comes up.
    I tried re-rendering the whole thing,and reconnected all my media files, but it still won't play. Any ideas on how to save my project?

    There are just too many possibilities for us to start guessing. Try searching for GENERAL ERROR and MISSING RENDER FILES, both topics get posted often so you'll find several suggestions and possible causes. However, not many people bother to close their threads around here so there's no way to know if any of the information we passed on was of any help.
    FCP 4 and 5 had the odd super-power to make files disappear as if they had never existed. General Error often indicates a corrupt project file so try to open one of your AutoSaves.

  • PDF files won't display. Error message "Missing Plug-ins"

    Hello. I am having trouble with adobe reader but only certain files. When I first signed up for school in may Adobe Flash Player and Adobe Reader were required and when I did the check plug-ins system check, both were installed and running just fine. Just in the past 2 days is the check plug-ins test saying Adobe reader is not installed. I have tried un-installing and re-installing but still saying it is not installed. I'm not having troubl with all adobe reader files. I'm an online student and my e-books are opening and displaying just fine. Also my pdf documents saved on my computer are opening just fine. When I try to view a websites brochure, a websites sale paper, or maybe open up an article, the page pops up but the image won't display. It keeps saying "missing Plug-ins". I have a MAC 10.6.8. running on Safari and I have downloaded Adobe Reader 10.1.0. I need to be able to open up articles because I'm doing a homework assignment that requires one. If u can help in any way, please do.

    I've tried all the fixes listed in the discussions about missing plug-ins in Mail.  None of them worked.  I can see attachements in the emails, but when I forward them, the missing plug-in shows up in place of the attachments on the forwarded email.  I'm running the latest OS 10.7 on my Mac Pro and I just downloaded the latest Java app.  HELP!!

  • Adobe Captivate File: Won't Open, Fatal Error

    I'm on a Dell PC Laptop.  I've saved an Adobe Captivate 7 file, then exported it to Flash format.  I can't open the FLA or SWF files that I exported.   When I try to open the original Adobe Captivate file (using Adobe Captivate 7) it gets up to 60% and stops and says a "Fatal Error" has occurred and the program needs to close.  I can't even open the Adobe Captivate software program to start a new project.  My coworker tried opening the saved Adobe Captivate file on his computer but it said it was "open by another user or the file was corrupt" so couldn't open it there either.  Please help!

    Click on Organize -> Folder Options
    Go to "View" Tab and check "Show hidden files and folder"
    Once you click on "OK", you will see AppData

  • RED media files won't reconnect, no error message

    I have a large project that I have been editing for awhile now, off an external HD. Recently, I had to move the project to another computer and another drive but I am having problems reconnecting the media in FCP. I have used both the search and locate functions and both times, nothing happens, not even any kind of error message. At best, sometimes that annoying little alert sound will chime, but that's it.
    It should be noted that most of the files on the new drive have been created from back-ups, but still, the actual media files, both R3D files and proxies names have remained unchanged. Please help, I need to get this figured out ASAP!

    fcp has always been a little wonky regarding reconnecting media.  The most fullproof method is to recreate the drive name and folder structure of the original media so that fcp finds the media without needing to reconnect.
    If you don't know the original folder structure, you can usually figure it out by calling up the clip settings and seeing where it says the "source" is.

    ANY HELP WOULD BE APPRECIATED.

    Can you deploy your application without verifier checkbox set? You have to remember that verifier is very strict when it comes to validating deployment descriptors.
    There are loads of applications that fail to be deployed with verifier checked but work quite well. This doesn't mean that you should just ignore verifier's errors, it means that your web application is not stricly following J2EE spec.
    What you should probably do is run verifier separately as suggested by deployer and see what it says. Check the following link for verifier usage:
    http://docs.sun.com/app/docs/doc/819-2644/6n4tumqe1?q=verifier&a=view

    Steps we tried for deployment :
    1) War file generated by WebObjects.
    2) Started IPlanet Application server.
    3) Opened the War file in the deployment tool.
    4) Verified that the WAR file to be deployed using the verify option in the deployment tool(Verified successfully)
    5) We tried to save the archive, then it throws an error saying "
    "Invalid entry compressed size (expected 52 bytes but got 51 bytes)".
    We ignored this message and proceeded further by clicking on OK.
    6) Deployed the WAR file using the deploy option
    7) In the deploy message box, it diplays that the application was deployed successfully.
    Then we tried to access the application by trying the following url : " http://localhost/NASApp/<CONTEXT NAME>/WebObjects/<APPLICATION NAME>"
    (eg : http://localhost/NASApp/SampleApplication/WebObjects/SampleApplication.woa>)
    We are getting the error saying that " GXError". We are not sure whether the the above mentioned url is the correct way to access the application !
    What we think the problem in deployment is
    i) because of error while saving the WAR file (Invalid entry compressed size (expected 52 bytes but got 51 bytes)
    ii) URL not appropriate
    Other observations :
    We tried to deploy to deploy sample application on Iplanet Application server. All these sample applications are deployed properly without the above mentioned error message. All these application are accessed by typing following url : " http:localhost/NASApp/<CONTEXT NAME>/<APPLICATION NAME>". IN all the sample application, url contains "NASApp" . We are not sure what this stand for and maps to. What we assumed is that it maps to the the iplanet app document root i.e "installedroot/ias6/ias/App"
    The exception throw while saving the WAR file is " com.iplanet.ias.tools.buzz.util.ArchiveHandlerException"
    Has any body who has tried this can help us?
    Thanks,
    Raju and Venkatesh

    Hi,
    First of all the application you are trying is from a WebObjects application server. I don't know how they package the modules and what is the format/file structure. I just went to their site, though they say that the WebObjects applications can be deploy on any J2EE Application server but still how they package and how they write the xml descriptors is not known.
    Looking at your exception it seem that first it is something to do the war/jar archive file compression thing (as the deployment tool is not able to read the complete file) then comes the deployment descriptors.
    I tried to get a few sample application from their site but I couldn't fine any, it will be great help if you can provide a WebObjects sample app to me (mail it to [email protected]).
    Regarding the NASApp string in URL, it has nothing to do with document root of iAS and also installedroot/ias6/ias/APPS dir is not the document root of iPlanet app server, this is the place where it save/explodes all the archives (ear).
    See iPlanet App server don't have any HTTP daemon to listen to the HTTP requests, so it needs a web server with a plugin (web connector) to forward the HTTP requests meant for iAS, and this NASApp string in the URL is the key to that.
    All the URLs are first send to the iAS plugin (as configured in web server's obj.conf file) and plugin look for this NASApp string (configurable), if it is there in the URL then it converts the HTTP request and send it to iAS over a proprietary protocol (KCP), otherwise it gives the request as it is to web server to process it.
    The NASApp string is a iAS registry parameter which you can change any time. And generally the context root part of the URL is the war file name (by default). So the typical URL for any web application (MyWeb.war) will be:
    http://<host>:<port>/NASApp/MyWeb/<Servlet_name>.
    I don't know why that extension "*.woa" is there. So if you send me a sample war file, I will be able to try it out.
    Please feel free to ask further questions.
