Warehouse Mgmt :: Urgent

Dear All,
I am implementing WH. My query is that lets say i have a material
Material : 1998
I have recieved the material in a Storage Bin (01-01-01). System saves the GR date. & If someone wants to use FIFO stock removal strategy then the system uses the oldest GR date for stock removal. On every recieving a Quant is created by the system. With its  ownGR date.
My question is that can we have 2 Quants of the same material (1998) with different GR dates in the same Storage Bin.
Coz normally when we add the same material in the same storage bin the system loses the latest GR date. and add the newly arrived data against the OLD GR DATE.
Cheers........

You can only achieve your requirement with batch management - each GR would get its own batch number.
or with SUT storage unit management. Each pallet has its own number.

  • Reference movement type for transfer in warehouse mgmt

    Hi ,
In the warehause management system,  IM movement type is link to WM movement type.
Maintenace veiw V_156S_WM ( Table  156SC ).  IM movement type 321 has three reference movement type in WM.
    396 , 397 , 321 .
Again  through table T321 ( veiw V_T321 ) reference Mvt 396 is  link to 311 in WM , 397 link to 312 in WM and 321 to 321 In WM.
If i perform 321 movement in IM , then how the system will determine unique reference movement from table
    V_156S_WM ( Table  156SC ) .
    Thanks
    Sanjay

    Hi,
The stock tsf ref mvnt type in V_156S_WM(-UMRBL) is:
Reference movement type for transfer in warehouse mgmt
Reference movement type for the second transfer in the Warehouse Management system.
    Use
This reference movement type is necessary when a goods movement (stock transfer) in Inventory Management causes two transfers in the Warehouse Management system (stock removal from one storage type and stock placement in another).
Inventory Management movement types that do not initiate any activity in the Warehouse Management System have the reference movement type 999.
The ref mvnt type in V_156S_WM(-RBLVS) is:
Reference movement type for WM from material movements
Reference key for determining the movement type in the Warehouse ManagementSystem.
    Use
Each Inventory Management movement type that is relevant to the WM system is allocated to a reference movement type, with which the system determines the corresponding movement type in the WM system.
Using the reference movement type, you can group together Inventory Management movement types that result in the same movement in the WM system.
Inventory Management movement types that do not initiate any activity in the Warehouse Management System have the reference movement type 999.
    ...sorry, basic help text.
    Cheers,

  • Warehouse mgmt

what is the role of storage location in where house mang.
if i have where house management for my plant then bin will be the final point where i will be keeping the material so if i want to issue the goods then system should ask for bin or for storage type rather then sloc?
Edited by: Rahul Tyagi on Feb 10, 2008 2:12 PM

    Hi,
Warehouse is been attached to the Plant (Organization Unit) through one of the Storage Location.
In a Plant any one ore more Storage Locations can be WM Managed.
The least organizational unit in the Warehouse is Bin.
So, whenever there is a Putaway or Picking, system will try to place in the Physical Storage Bins.
If you don't have the Storage Bins in place, (Lean Warehouse), then System will look directly into Storage Location.
Hope it is clear, reward if it is useful.

  • Warehouse Mgmt Scan guns

We are using warehouse management and using the scan guns to do the warehouse transactions. we have recently changed to the ITS technology for our mobile devices. . The issue is that now it is comparatively longer to complete the transactions. We have moved from SAP console. Have anyone else faced this issue and if yes was there anything done to speed up the tcodes.  We are using all the standard mobike warhouse tcodes.
    Michele

    Hi,
Even we have faced this issue when we do the RF scan performance from the RF gun. The scan time is close to 2-4 seconds and if the shipment is very large it can even go to 8-9 seconds per scan.
Please do following to correct the RF scan.
    1. Contact SAP and they will debug why its taking lots of time.
    2. There are few RF configuration which needs to be rechecked ( many are redundant setting ) which cause the scan to delay.
    3. check note SAP Note 1423066 which shall help you a lot.

  • How to update standard warehouse mgmt tables  LTAK, LTAP, LTBK and LTBP

    Dear gurus,
I had a requirement to change the update statements on the below standard tables.
    LTAK, LTAP, LTBK and LTBP
Can anyone guide me like which function modules or BAPI's or anything that can update these tables.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Sridhar.

HI Arul, Here is the help document on Local Updates.
In a local update, the update program is run by the same work process that processed the request. The dialog user has to wait for the update to finish before entering further data. This kind of update is useful when you want to reduce the amount of access to the database. The disadvantage of local updates is their parallel nature. The updates can be processed by many different work processes, unlike asynchronous or synchronous update, where the update is serialized due to the fact that there are fewer update work processes (and maybe only one).
You switch to local update using the ABAP statement SET UPDATE TASK LOCAL. This statement sets a "local update switch". When it is set, the system interprets CALL FUNCTION IN UPDATE TASK as a request for local update. The update is processed in the same work process as the dialog step containing the COMMIT WORK. The transaction waits for the update to finish before continuing.
As an example, suppose you have a program that uses asynchronous update that you normally run in dialog mode. However, this time you want to run it in the background. Since the system response time is irrelevant when you are running the program in the background, and you only want the program to continue processing when the update has actually finished, you can set the SET UPDATE TASK LOCAL switch in the program. You can then use a system variable to check at runtime whether the program is currently running in the background.
By default, the local update switch is not set, and it is reset after each COMMIT WORK or ROLLBACK WORK. You therefore need to include a SET UPDATE TASK LOCAL statement at the beginning of each SAP LUW.
If you reset data within the local update, the ROLLBACK WORK statement applies to both the dialog and the update part of the transaction, since no new SAP LUW is started for the update.

  • Stock transfer between two St locs of same warehouse

    Hi All,
I am new to WM and trying to config/simulate st loc to st loc transfer 311
one step between two st locs that belong to same warehouse number.
What should be the config and under
LE->WM->Interface->IM->movement types -> assign WM Movement Type
References to IM Movement Types. In my system for 311 movement type entry with
only the quantity check box checked and no other spl stock I see that there are
    three columns mentioned below
For mvt types on WM side first one “Reference movement type for WM from
    material movements” = 311
Second one “Reference movement type for transfer in warehouse mgmt.” =312
Third one “Reference movement type for posting change in whse mgmt.”=309
The reason I am confused is when I do a MB1B 311 from one st loc to another
st loc from unrestricted to unrestricted on IM side it is triggering 309 on WM
side where as I am expecting 311 to trigger with TR to pick from issuing St loc
and another TR/TO with (312 or 311 I am not sure) to putaway the stock in to
the receiving st loc. Can someone help in explaining how should the stand SAP
IM/WM interface work and what should I be doing to make it work that way
    Thank you in advance
    J

    Hi J,
To explain you in simple way,
When Sloc is Wm managed and stock is transferred at IM level using 1 step within plant, stock is directly transferred from one sloc to other sloc(no TR/To is created to pick and putaway unless configured)  Due to this difference is created between IM & WM level, Hence mvt type 309 is triggered for PCN . This Mvt 309 is picked based on std config at
LE->WM->Interface->IM->movement types -> assign WM Movement Type
    References to IM Movement Types
If you want to create TR immediately then put x in 9 column against mvt 309 and w/h combination.
LE->WM->Interface->IM->movement types -> LE-WM Interface to Inventory Management

  • Urgent:posting not possible in IM

    Dear all,
I am using decentralised warehouse mgmt system, while doing goods receipt , i am getting the following error message as posting not possible in IM for Le-Idw.
    Kindly guide me

Stock postings that include a storage location that points to a decentralized WMS are not executed initially in Inventory Management of the ERP system. In Inventory Management, no stock changes are posted and no document items are created. Instead, inbound and outbound deliveries are created, depending on the movement type involved (debit/credit indicator), and transmitted to the decentralized WMS

    1.2 Lean WM Basic Settings
1.2.1 Defining Defining ControlControl Parameters and Number Ranges for the Warehouse Number  Parameters for the Warehouse Number
    Use
A warehouse number is an organizational unit in Logistics, which organizes the company from the perspective of Warehouse Management.
In the Warehouse Management System, you can define a variety of control parameters at warehouse number level.
    Procedure
    1. Access the activity using one of the following navigation options:
 Picking  Shipping  Logistic Execution IMG Menu IMG   Define control parameters and number ranges for the warehouse numberLean WM  Define control parameters and number ranges for warehouse no.(double click)
    Transaction Code SM30

    Group number 01 R
    1.2.2 Defining Storage Type
    Use
A warehouse number is subdivided into a variety of storage types. A storage type is defined by its physical or organizational features (for example, high rack storage area, bulk storage, and goods receipt areas).
A storage type has a short description rather than an address.
Before you can implement Lean WM, you must configure the following settings:
    1. Assign a (newly defined) storage location to a warehouse number.(This step is defined by step 3.12 Control Plant / Storage Location / Warehouse Number Assignment
    2. You should set up at least three storage types:
a storage type (that will be used as a source storage type) with one or several fixed storage bins
a goods issue area (as destination storage type) for deliveries
an interim storage area for differences
    Procedure
    1. Access the activity using one of the following navigation options:

    1.2.3 Defining Doors
    Use
In a WM-managed warehouse, you can define dock doors (also known as doors or gates). A door is a location where the goods either arrive in the warehouse or leave it.
You can assign different functions to a dock door, for example:
    Goods receipt
    Goods issue
Other transactions such as cross-docking and flow-through
    Procedure
    1. Access the activity using one of the following navigation options:

    1.2.4 Defining Material Staging Areas
    Use
A staging area is an interim storage area for goods that have been received from goods receipt and afterwards need to be transferred into the warehouse.
It is also an interim storage area for goods that were picked in a warehouse and are to be loaded for goods issue through loading ramps or doors.
You can assign different functions to a staging area:
    • Goods issue
    • Goods receipt
    Procedure
    1. Access the activity using one of the following navigation options:

    1.2.7 Defining Movement Types
    Use
The SAP R/3 System uses movement type to process movements in Inventory Management (for example, goods receipt for a purchase order or goods issue to a cost center). When the system recognizes a movement as being relevant for Warehouse Management, it assigns this movement to a WM movement type by means of a table.
The movement type for the Warehouse Management System provides the information required for stock removals or picking:
    Interim storage bin
    Fixed bin coordinate
Control indicator for processing, confirming, and printing transfer orders
    Confirmation info
    Procedure
    1. Access the activity using one of the following navigation options:

    1.3 Print Control for Warehouse
    Use
    Print control defines the following:
    • Which slips are to be printed for the movements (that is, for the transfer orders) within the Warehouse Management System
    • How these slips are to be printed (that is, which forms are to be used, how many copies are to be printed)
    • On which printer a slip is to be printed automatically
And print control manages the print operations of the warehouse. This flexibility involves a certain degree of complexity with regard to the parameterization.

    1.4 Manual Activity
1.4.1 Maintaining Number Range Intervals for Transfer Order
    Use
Maintain number range intervals for transfer order
    Procedure
In this step, you define that, the Number range for Transfer order as 01 and Group number as 01, now you should tell the system how the number range would like for 01 as transfer order and 01 for the group number, for both number range, you may define you own number range, the following information just for reference:
Access the activity using one of the following navigation options:
 Logistic Execution IMG Menu IMG   Define control parameters and number ranges for Lean WM  Picking Shipping   Maintain number range intervals for transfer ordersthe warehouse number  (double click)
    Transaction Code LN02
Check if the internal number range 01 (0000000001-1000000000) has been defined
Once you have defined your number ranges, it is extremely difficult to change them afterwards when the objects concerned are filled with data.
Bear in mind that you will be entering data on a long-term basis. Create your number range intervals accordingly.
1.4.2 Maintaining Number Range Intervals for Reference Numbers
    Use
Reference number range has the following meanings:
This number identifies a number range to be used for the assignment of sequential numbers for WM reference numbers. Reference numbers are used to create or print a group of transfer orders at one time.
A sequential number generated by the system for the purpose of multiple processing of transfer requirements and delivery notes.
The reference number can also be used to print the resulting transfer orders at a later time.
    Procedure
In this step, you define that, the Number range for Transfer order as 01 and Group number as 01, now you should tell the system how the number range would like for 01 as transfer order and 01 for the group number, for both number range, you may define you own number range, the following information just for reference:
Access the activity using one of the following navigation options:
IMG Menu IMG  Define control parameters Lean WM  Picking  Shipping Logistic Execution   Maintain number range intervals forand number ranges for the warehouse number  Reference Numbers( double click)
    Transaction Code LN06
Check if the internal number range 01 (5000000000 - 5999999999) has been defined
Once you have defined your number ranges, it is extremely difficult to change them afterwards when the objects concerned are filled with data.
Bear in mind that you will be entering data on a long-term basis. Create your number range intervals accordingly.

  • Warehouse strategies

    Hello great gurus,
i want to know that when we deal with warehouse mgmt and when we deal with picking and putting away strategies, or even storage type search, then all these work is being done at the background (during configration with respect to movement types) or we do some work while posting MIGO as well.
    thankyou

    Hi Maggi,
While doing inventory movements like goods issue or goods receipt, it will trigger transfer requirements in WM. which has to be converted to transfer order. This transfer order is used to move the goods physically to the bin specified in the warehouse. Then this transfer order will be confirmed after moving to the destination bin. This completes the warehouse movement. From Inventory management perspective once u have done the Migo then it has to be taken care by warehouse personnel for TR/TO and confirmation.
    regards
