Hi Amit,
The following is the excerpt from the note Note 17163 - BRARCHIVE/BRBACKUP messages and codes
BR0017W Offline redo log file %s not found.
BR0017W Offline-Redo-Log-Datei %s nicht gefunden.
Explanation: This warning informs you that there are gaps in the archiving directory. The database cannot be recovered in such cases if the recovery process is started with an offline redo log file with a smaller log sequence number. Possible causes:
Case 1: Offline redo log files were deleted using operating system utilities before they could be archived, or the ORACLE ARCHIVELOG mode was temporarily deactivated. BRARCHIVE was started with Option -s, -sd, -ss, or -ssd.
Case 2: Offline redo log files were deleted using operating system utilities after they were archived once by BRARCHIVE, but not yet deleted by BRARCHIVE. BRARCHIVE was started with Option -sc, -scd, -ds, or -dc.
Program reaction: The offline redo log file is ignored.
User action: Case 1: SAP recommends a full backup of the database. The warning is normally only output once. After at least one archive log with a larger log sequence number was saved, it is automatically suppressed. Therefore in this case action is not necessary.
Case 2: The warning is issued repeatedly when BRARCHIVE is started with Option -sc, -scd, -ds, or -dc. To suppress the message, you have to edit the summary BRARCHIVE log <ORACLE_HOME>/saparch/arch<DBSID>.log.
In the #COPIED and #DELETED lines, which refer to the affected offline redo log files, replace the first character, '#', with '+' or '*'.
Example:
Display before:
#ARCHIVE.. 622 /oracle/C11/saparch/C11arch1_622 1995-03-03 03.36.47
#SAVED.... acovzgvj ssd #C11A34/13 1995-03- 03 08.05.18
#COPIED... ........ ... ............... .......... ........
#DELETED.. ........ ... .......... ........
Display after:
#ARCHIVE.. 622 /oracle/C11/saparch/C11arch1_622 1995-03-03 03.36.47
#SAVED.... acovzgvj ssd #C11A34/13 1995-03- 03 08.05.18
+COPIED... ........ ... ............... .......... ........
+DELETED.. ........ ... .......... ........
The solution provided by SAP should fix the issue.
Please revert in case the issue is not solved. Thanks.

Venky

Hi Supports,
I am using sapinst homogeneous system copy in Linux on sybase.
I stuck on the the step 27/49 "create Database".
I checked Firewall is off.
i got points in my sapinst_dev.log that "
1)The log segment in the target database 'SID' is too small (9216 MB) to accommodate the log segment from the dumped database (10240 MB)"
and
2)"Can't change the owner of the master, model, tempdb or sybsystemprocs database"
Do i need to increase "sybase/SID/saplog_1" ? because my "saplog_1" is 49 mb now.
if it is ! how do i increase in this stage.
can any one know about this error???
Thanks,
Aziz.Hi,
When i seen SID.log file so its showing deadlock and checkpoint occurring,
Is any solution ???
Is this because of networks?
we had 2 servers on this same IP. but i stopped one server and one is still running.
please find my SID.log file and revert back if any soltion.

Post relates to: Treo 755p (Sprint)I just switched from a Zire M150 to the TX and I am also getting this message. When I was using the Zire, I saw the pocketmirror program and files on my pc but now that I made the install for the TX, all of that info is gone. I looked on the install cd that came with the TX and did not find any pocketmirror files or drivers. Is this a left over from the software that was used to hotsync the Zire?
If so, is there a way to stop the message.
On the other hand, if the .dll file is needed, I would appreciate other tips as the TX info does not have any pocketmirror references.

How to resolve the datasource with Cloudspace database?
Hi,
I am running WebLogic 6.1 on Win2k and I have problem with
Cloudscape database in Default Admin Server.
=== Start init method in myJDBCReadServlet.java ===
Init Error: javax.naming.NameNotFoundException:
Unable to resolve MyJDBCDataSource.
Resolved: '' Unresolved:'MyJDBCDataSource' ; remaining name ''
=== Finish init method in myJDBCReadServlet.java ===
1. I created simple table in the Cloudscape database using IJ utility and inserted
some values:
prompt>java -classpath %CLASSPATH%;..\lib\tools.jar COM.cloudscape.tools.ij
ij version 3.5 (c) 1997-2000 Informix Software, Inc.
ij> CONNECT 'jdbc:cloudscape:demo;create=true';
WARNING 01J01: Database 'demo' not created, connection made to existing database
instead.
ij> SHOW CONNECTIONS;
CONNECTION0* - jdbc:cloudscape:demo;create=true
* = current connection
ij> CREATE TABLE employee(name CHAR(25), location CHAR(20), id INTEGER);
0 rows inserted/updated/deleted
2. I created Connection Pool and Data Source using Default Console
The Connection Pool configuration is the following:
Name : MyJDBC Connection Pool
URL : jdbc:cloudscape:demo
Driver Classname: COM.cloudscape.core.JDBCDriver
Properties : user=none password=none server=none
My Data Source configuration is the following:
Name : MyJDBC Data Source
JNDI Name: MyJDBCDataSource
Pool Name: MyJDBC Connection Pool
I added the following line to myserver startup script to point
to the database location:
-Dcloudscape.system.home=./samples/eval/cloudscape/data
3. I wrote the servlet and here is the piece of the myJDBCReadServlet
code which generated the exception:
public void init()
System.out.println("=== Start init method in myJDBCReadServlet.java ===");
try {
ctx = new InitialContext();
ds = (javax.sql.DataSource) ctx.lookup ("MyJDBCDataSource");
} catch (Exception E) {
System.out.println("Init Error: " + E);
System.out.println("=== Finish init method in myJDBCReadServlet.java ===");
Why it cannot find the database using JNDI name?
Any help will be greatly appreciated,
Jacob NikomGreat.
Here is a link where you can find more cloudscape details:

Problem solved!
Slava - thank you for your help.
Yes, cloudscape.jar file should be on the CLASSPATH.
I also put tools.jar from the same directory (I am not sure
is it necessary or not, but I did not test it).
However,it is not enough to run WebLogic with Cloudscape
successfuly. You have to tell WebLogic where the database
files are. To do it you have to include start-up option
in the startWebLogic.cmd file.
It looks like:
-Dcloudscape.system.home="C:~\samples\eval\cloudscape\data"
After that it runs. Actually, the file cloudscape.html in the
directory ~\samples\eval\cloudscape has quite a bit of information.
Unfortunately, it is difficult to comprehend it until you understand whatthe
problem is.

Jacob

Hi Jacob,
You need to specify the Cloudscape classes in your
CLASSPATH, which exists in weblogic/samples/eval/cloudscape/lib.

Hi Slava,
This is the source of the error:
<Error> <JDBC>
<Cannot startup connection pool "MyJDBC_Connection_Pool"
Cannot load driver class: COM.cloudscape.core.JDBCDriver>
but I don't know how to fix it.
I don't know the name of the Cloudscape JDBC driver.
I looked at cloudscape.jar file and found the following class file:
COM/cloudscape/core/JDBCDriver.class
Is it the right driver?
I tried to use COM.cloudscape.core.XADataSource driver
classname, but got the same problem - WebLogic cannot find it.
Which .jar file has correct Cloudscape JDBC driver?
What else should I do to ensure that driver loads properly?
Thank you,
Jacob Nikom

Ok. I don't see that neither connection pool nor data source
trying to start. You did not added targets to them or may be
you provided wrong target.

Hi Slava,
Thank you for your response. I am sending you the full
log as .txt file attachment. It is not very large in order
to zip it.
I added some Cloudscape parameters to the startup script,
so you can see them there. They show to the WebLogic where
the database is located.
Also, I think the database was running because I could see
my tables using IJ utility (Cloudscape tool), however I am
not sure how Cloudscape exactly starts and runs.

Could you zip the whole log and send it to me?
I just want to see what the console says about
creation of your datasources and pools.

Hi Slava,
Thank you for your message. I did assign target to
my Connection Pool and Data Source. It is "myserver".
Also, there is not any error messages form WebLogic
shell except the ones which I place in my message.
So far the misery remains unresolved.

Fix: Active directory corrupted (NTDS ISAM Database Corruption errors in eventlog)
It worked for me!
Frank Keunen
IT-Pro Evangelist :: Microsoft IT Infrastructure Engineer
Follow the procedure below to fix Microsoft Active Directory database problems (corrupted Active Directory due to e.g memory issues/disk problems):
1. Reboot the server and press F8. Choose Directory Services Restore Mode from the Menu.
2. Check the physical location of the Winnt\NTDS\ folder.
3. Check the permissions on the \Winnt\NTDS folder. The default permissions are: Administrators – Full Control System – Full Control
4. Check the Winnt\Sysvol\Sysvol folder to make sure it is shared.
5. Check the permissions on the Winnt\Sysvol\Sysvol share. The default permissions are: Share Permissions: —————— Administrators – Full Control Authenticated Users – Full Control Everyone – Read NTFS Permissions: —————– Administrators – Full Control Authenticated
Users – Read & Execute, List Folder Contents, Read Creator Owner – none Server Operators – Read & Execute, List Folder Contents, Read System – Full Control Note: You may not be able to change the permissions on these folders if the Active Directory
database is unavailable because it is damaged, however it is best to know if the permissions are set correctly before you start the recovery process, as it may not be the database that is the problem.
6. Make sure there is a folder in the Sysvol share labeled with the correct name for their domain.
7. Open a command prompt and run NTDSUTIL to verify the paths for the NTDS.dit file. These should match the physical structure from Step 2. To check the file paths type the following commands: Start a command prompt NTDSUTIL Files Info The output should
look similar to: Drive Information: C:\ NTFS (Fixed Drive) free (2.9 Gb) total (3.9 Gb) D:\ NTFS (Fixed Drive) free (3.6 Gb) total (3.9 Gb) DS Path Information: Database : C:\WINNT\NTDS\ntds.dit – 10.1 Mb Backup dir: C:\WINNT\NTDS\dsadata.bak Working dir:
C:\WINNT\NTDS Log dir : C:\WINNT\NTDS – 30.0 Mb total res2.log – 10.0 Mb res1.log – 10.0 Mb edb.log – 10.0 Mb This information is pulled directly from the registry and mismatched paths will cause Active Directory not to start. Type Quit to end the NTDSUTIL
session.
8. Rename the edb.chk file and try to boot to Normal mode. If that fails, proceed with the next steps.
9. Reboot into Directory Services Restore mode again. At the command prompt, use the ESENTUTL to check the integrity of the database. NOTE: You can use NTDSUTIL to check the Integrity, however esentutl is usually more reliable. Type the following command:
ESENTUTL /g “\NTDS.dit” /!10240 /8 /v /x /o (Note: Type the path without the quotes). Note: The default path would be C:\Winnt\NTDS\ntds.dit; however it may be different in some cases. The output will tell you if the database is inconsistent and may produce
a jet_error 1206 stating that the database is corrupt. If the database is inconsistent or corrupt it will need to be recovered or repaired . To recover the database type the following at the command prompt: NTDSUTIL Files Recover If this fails with an error,
type quit until back at the command prompt and repair the database using ESENTUTL by typing the following: ESENTUTL /p “\NTDS.dit” /!10240 /8 /v /x /o (Note: Type the path without the quotes). Note: If you do not put the switches at the end of the command
you will most likely get a Jet_error 1213 “Page size mismatch” error.
10. Delete the log files in the NTDS directory, but do not delete or move the ntds.dit file.
11. The NTDSUTIL tool needs to be run again to check the Integrity of the database and to perform a Semantic Database analysis. To check the integrity, at the command prompt type: NTDSUTIL Files Integrity The output should tell you that the integrity check
completed successfully and prompt that you should perform a Semantic Database Analysis. Type quit. To perform the Semantic Database Analysis type the following at the NTDSUTIL Prompt type: Semantic Database Analysis Go The output will tell you that the Analysis
completed successfully. Type quit and closes the command prompt. NOTE: If you get errors running the Analysis then type the following at the semantic checker prompt: semantic checker: go fix This puts the checker in Fixup mode, which should fix whatever errors
there were.
12. Reboot the server to Normal Mode. If any of these steps fail to recover the database the only alternative is to perform an Authoritative System State restore from backup in Directory Services Restore mode. For more information, please refer to the following
articles: 315136 HOW TO: Complete a Semantic Database Analysis for the Active Directory http://support.microsoft.com/?id=315136 265706 DCDiag and NetDiag in Windows 2000 Facilitate Domain Join and DC Creation http://support.microsoft.com/?id=265706 258007
Error Message: Lsass.exe – System Error : Security Accounts Manager http://support.microsoft.com/?id=258007 265089 Event 1168: Windows 2000 DCs Unable to Boot into Active Directory http://support.microsoft.com/?id=265089 315131 HOW TO: Use Ntdsutil to Manage
Active Directory Files from the Command http://support.microsoft.com/?id=315131 BR – FrankFrank: This procedure (with some variations required for my environment) worked
perfectly. Thank you very much.
To other readers: The procedure works, but it is a loaded gun. Be careful and methodical.
The specifics of my situation, which I offer as additional information, are:
Windows Server 2003 R2 Standard Edition SP2 with all updates.
One server, 20 clients; of course the server is the domain controller.
I suggest running the command prompt window at an elevated security level ("run as:", followed by unchecking the "restricted" box).
I also suggest changing directories to C:\WINNT\NTDS or C:\WINDOWS\NTDS, as appropriate.
Variations:
The location of the NTDS folder is C:\WINDOWS\NTDS for an install that is not an upgrade from Server 2000.
Step 9 -- the parameters for ESENTUTL are different. For the integrity check I used "ESENTUTL /g NTDS.DIT /8" as the other parameters are not available.
Also in step 9 -- For the repair step that was required I used "ESENTUTL /p NTDS.DIT /8". There was a window warning of a possible data loss, which clicking OK cleared.
Step 11 -- NTDSUTIL FILES INTEGRITY works properly without change. However, the Semantic Database Analysis check cannot be run in a single command. I used "NTDSUTIL SEMANTIC DATABASE ANALYSIS" followed by "GO" at the next prompt. The database analysis does
not report a positive result, but if there is no warning the database passes the analysis. To be certain I ran the "GO FIX" step anyway, which gave identical output.
After this procedure the system started perfectly. I recommend this procedure as the answer to the problem.

Warning in log after updating SQL server when installing cumulative updates
Every time I install cumulative updates for Lync 2013, when I run the command to update the SQL database which is
Install-CsDatabase -ConfiguredDatabases -SqlServerFqdn SQLLYNPROD1.domain.local -Verbose
I get the two warnings below in the log. The update works OK and I don't have any issues. I get a warning just for this database for the database itself and the log path. Can't find anything on it searching. Any idea where to start looking
Warning: The
database rtcxds being updated has data file path at
\\SQLLYNPROD1.domain.local\E$\SQLData\rtcxds.mdf and supplied data file path is
\\SQLLYNPROD1.domain.local\E$\CsData\BackendStore\(default)\DbPath\rtcxds.mdf.
Supplied path will be ignored.
Warning: The
database rtcxds being updated has log file path at
\\SQLLYNPROD1.domain.local\F$\SQLLog\rtcxds.ldf and supplied data file path is
\\SQLLYNPROD1.domain.local\E$\CsData\BackendStore\(default)\LogPath\rtcxds.ldf.
Supplied path will be ignored.There is only one CsData folder on the Lync server but the install program is complaining about the RTCXDS database which is on our enterprise backend SQL server. The path above is correct.
\\SQLLYNPROD1.domain.local\E$\SQLData\rtcxds.mdf for data and
\\SQLLYNPROD1.domain.local\F$\SQLLog\rtcxds.ldf for logs
but a bogus path of
\\SQLLYNPROD1.domain.local\E$\CsData\BackendStore\(default)\DbPath\rtcxds.mdf for data and
\\SQLLYNPROD1.domain.local\E$\CsData\BackendStore\(default)\LogPath\rtcxds.ldf for logs is being supplied from somewhere to the install program.
Fortunately, the install program knows enough to ignore the supplied path and take what it is given from SQL. Just trying to figure out where this supplied path is coming from. It could be anywhere. As I said, needle in a haystack. -
Creating Entities from database tables ?
Hi everyone,
I am trying to prpare an entity relationship diagrams for a small application that about 5 or 6 tables. Can someone please let me know how I can reverse engineer or make entities from tables ?
Thanks
IQHi there,
I have checked to see that I" am using the correct container. Also this is a fresh Designer installation so there are not previous entities.
I however notice a few warningas and and error. I am sure this should not be the cause for me not seeing tables in the table to entoty retrofit but I may be wrong. I am seing the following warnings/ errors. Is this the cause of my problem or could it be something else.
CDS-15317 Warning: invalid Database User reference ('RCAR') in Database Object Grant to 'RCAR' - ignored

Windows Server 2008 - Oracle 11g 11.2.0
I was checking Oracle Enterprise Manager.
There is a warning as database limits saying that open cursors are at 2185.
I checked some parameters :
open_cursors : 12000
session_cached_cursors : 50
To me, it seems that the limit is far from overflowing...
So I'm trying to understand why I had this warning.
Could you please help me ?
EdYou should be able to click on the warning link and get to an open cursors screen which will show you the warning and critical levels, as well as your recent history. On my machine it appears the default is 1200, which is far below my normal usage - it's kind of humorous that the warning message was sent at the time my usage was at its minimum. Why it checks the way it does is one of those mysteries of the universe. You might try setting the levels in the Manage Metrics screen, though on earlier versions on my platform that's been a challenge.

Post relates to: Palm VxHi.. Welcome to the Palm forums. My first question is what operating system is on your computer and what version of palm desktop? First impression is that you have a 3rd party program on your device that is failing and needs to be removed and possibly reinstalled but please answer the two questions above and we'll continue from there.

SQL Server Upgrade Advisor 2014 - Database Compatibility Level checking
I have the following scenario... I have a database server running SQL Server 2008 R2 (10.50.4260). On that server I restored a database from SQL Server 2005. Looking at the compatibility level through the properties of the database (using SSMS) and
by querying against sys.databases, I can see the database has the compatibility level of 90, which is what I expected.
In looking to bring this database over to a SQL Server 2014 database server, I have run the SQL Server Upgrade Advisor 2014 tool as well as the SQL Server Upgrade Advisor 2012 tool. With the 2014 tool, my expectation would be that it would warn me
that the compatibility level will be upgraded to 10 (or something), however, I received no such warning. I ran the 2012 version of the tool as well, expecting that I might get a deprecation warning (or something), no such luck. I have run the 2014
tool from my computer and from another one, same results.
Does the upgrade advisor not check for the compatibility level? Or does my configuration maybe have something to do with it (having it on a 2008 R2 server)? From looking at screenshots of when other people have ran the tool, I was under the impression
it checked this. See the link below for an example...
http://blogs.msdn.com/b/mspfe/archive/2012/12/06/sql-server-upgrade-advisor-considerations-when-upgrading-from-sql-2000-to-sql-2012.aspx
Thoughts anyone?Lydia,
I agree with regards to the 2012 version. However, in SQL Server 2014, upgrading a database with a compatibility level of 90 sets
the database to compatibility level 100. See link below...
https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb510680.aspx
Shouldn't the 2014 version of the advisor tool issue the same warning seen in the screenshot of the msdn blog post we both mentioned? As in... "After upgrade, compatibility levels <list of levels>, will be set to 100".
Hi JJordheim,
According to my test, SQL Server 2014 Upgrade Advisor also only raise warning when database compatibility level is less than 90 in the “SQL Server Parameters” page.
From your description, when database compatibility level is set to 90, SQL Server 2014 Upgrade Advisor should also raise warning, right? If so , this is a design issue of SQL Server 2014 Upgrade Advisor, personally, I recommend you
submit a feedback to the Microsoft Connect at this link

Thanks,
Lydia Zhang

Db2dart SAP returns "Inconsistent Database"
Dear Gurus,
I've information from sapnote #98524 that to check Logical and Consistenty of database, we use db2dart.
When I tried to execute: db2dart <sid>, there's always this message in every instance (DEV, QA, PRD)
Warning: The database state is not consistent.
Warning: Errors reported about reorg may be due to the inconsistent state of the database.
We're using SAP ECC 6.0 EhP4, DB6 9.7 LUW, SAP RHEL 5.0
I know that inconsistent means uncommited transactions are not yet flushed into disk.
Then, how can you benefit from db2dart when the information you got is just some warnings?
Thanks much for your help.
Best Regards,
Bobby Gunawandb2dart is an offline tool. This means that if the database is active while db2dart is started, the tool will output such a message. Depending on command line options used, the tool will deny further processing.
To check a table's integrity, consider using the DB2 INSPECT utility. INSPECT is documented in the online help.
