Warning popup for jnlp and all-permissions security, recent java update

We have a java program running with java webstart. The jnlp includes the all-permissions security level.
All jar files have a manifest with Permissions: all-permissions and all jar files are signed with our trusted certificate.
When the program is started we get a popup saying something like:
"This application will run with unrestricted access which may put your computer and personal information at risk. Run this application only if you trust the locations and publisher above."
This popup is coming _everytime_ the program is started... which is very annoying for the user and causes support issues for the organization.
This has started to happen in the recent java update. First the program did not start at all until we included the Permission attribute in every jar's manifest.
How can we get rid of this popup?
Best regards,
Emil

If we add the following to the manifest of the jar files:
Permissions: all-permission
Application-Library-Allowable-Codebase: *
Caller-Allowable-Codebase: *
It seems like the "checkbox" to only show the warning message once is back again (without those two last lines above in the manifest there is no checkbox at all).

Why when I try to update certain app it require an old email address and password I have not used for years and I do I get to update them on my new details

Apps are tied to the Apple ID that was used to purchase them and you will always need to use that ID and password in order to update them.
Saying that you do get to update them on your new details makes no sense at all.

    Resolution
Move the mouse or trackpad cursor over the center area of the login window so you can see the user icons. Click on the icon of the user that you would like to login as, type in the user's password, and press Return.
If the login window is configured to show only the name and password fields, type in the user's name and password into the fields, and press Return (even if you cannot see the rest of the login window).
    Additional Information
This issue will not occur if the display is not sleeping when the account is logged out. Use the steps below to confirm that the account is not configured to log out automatically while the display is sleeping:
Open System Preferences > Security & Privacy > General.  Click the padlock to unlock the preference pane and enter your admin password. Click the Advanced button at the bottom, then see if the option "Log out after N minutes of inactivity" (where N is the number of minutes) is enabled.
Open System Preferences > Energy Saver and configure Display Sleep to occur after the account is logged out, by dragging the slider to a number of minutes that is greater than N was set to in the previous step.
Important: If automatic log out is not needed, disable "Log out after Nminutes of inactivity" in System Preferences > Security & Privacy > General. This will also prevent the issue.

The user profile my appleTV was synced on my computer to no longer works (corrupt).  My Apple TV is still synced to that profile and all of my recent purchases are going to that username.  Does anyone know how to get all of the purchased items back and to the new user (same computer)?  I created a new user on my computer and moved the itunes folder to the desktop but never changed the path to which the apple synced to.  Now I can only see old items I purchased before the user profile went bad.  PLease help!

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
Changing the library the Apple TV is synced with will delete all synced content from the Apple TV, but it won't delete purchased content.
You should be able to change the library, resync any content you want and transfer your purchases back to the new library.

If you have been regularly syncing/backing up your iPhone with iTunes or iCloud, you may try restoring it from the last backup.
Read how to restore from a backup.

  • JNLP FileOpenService warning despite signed applet w/ "all-permissions"

    Hi all,
We are deploying an applet using java 7u21. The applet is signed and the jnlp file contains a security section requesting "all-permissions". Even so, every time that we run the applet a pop-up appears with "The application has requested read/write access to a file on the machine. [...]"
My understanding is that this warning should no longer display... Is that true? The only thing I have found related to this is http://docs.oracle.com/javase/7/docs/technotes/guides/javaws/developersguide/faq.html#s407, but that seems to indicate I should only see this dialog if I lack file access permissions. (I think I have those via trusted cert + jnlp all-permissions setting).
    Thanks for the help,
    Buzzy
    Relevant text from the link:
5074526: ExtenededService file APIs show security dialog even if app is signed.
    In version 1.5.0.
When using the FileOpen Service, the security dialog will only show if the application does not
have file access permissions. This is not true with the new ExtendedService OpenFile, and
OpenFiles methods, the security dialog shows anyway.

I am having the same problem. We are using JRE 1.4.1_05. When a certain EJB is called I get:
    java.security.AccessControlException: access denied (java.net.SocketPermission XXX.XX.XX.XXX:7001, connect,resolve)
    at java.security.AccessControlContext.checkPermission (Unknown Source)...
I have tried setting the following permission in my jre's /lib/security/java.policy file:
    grant{
    permission java.net.SocketPermission "host:port", "accept,connect";
After setting this permission the EJB that caused this error seems to crash. Is this the correct permission to set for the above mentioned exception? Is there any other alternative to uninstalling the security manager?

  • VirtualDisk on Windows Server 2012 R2 Storage Pool stuck in "Warning: In Service" state and all file transfers to and from is awfully slow

    Greetings,
I'm having some trouble with my Windows Storage Pool and my VirtualDisk running on a Windows Server 2012 R2 installation. It consists of 8x Western Digital RE-4 2TB drives + 2x Western Digital Black Edition 2TB drives and have been configured in a single-disk
parity setup and the virtual disk is running fixed provisioning (max size) and is formatted with ReFS.
It's been running solid for months besides some awful write-speeds at times, it seems like the write performance running ReFS compared to NTFS is not that good.
I was recommended to add SSD's for journalling in order to boost write-performance. Sadly I seemed to screw up this part, you need to due this through PowerShell and it needs to be done before creating the virtualdisk. I managed to add my SSD to the Storage
    Pool and then remove it.
This seem to have caused some awkward issues, I'm not quite sure of why as the virtualdisk is "fixed" so adding the SSD to the Storage Pool shouldn't really do anything, right? But after I did this my virtual disk have been stuck in "Warning:
In Service" and it seems to be stuck? It's been 4-5 days and it's still the same and the performance is currently horrible. Moving 40GB of data off the virtual disk took me about 20 hours or so. Launching files under 1mb of the virtual disk takes several
minutes etc.. It's pretty much useless.
The GUI is not providing any useful information about what's going on. What does "Warning: In Service" actually imply? How am I supposed to know how long this is supposed to take? Running Get-Virtualdisk in PowerShell does not provide any useful
information either. I did try to do a repair through the Server Manager GUI but it goes to about 21% within 2-3 hours but drops back down to 10%. I have had the repair running for days but it wont go past 21% without dropping back down again.
Running repair through PowerShell yields the same results, but if I detach the virtual disk and then try to repair through PowerShell (the GUI wont let me do repair on detached virtual disks) it will just run for a split second and then close.
After doing some "Googeling" I've seen people mentioning that the repair is not able to finish unless I have at least the same amount of free space in the Storage Pool as the largest drive in my Storage Pool is housing so I added a 4TB drive as
due to me running fixed provisioning I had used all the space in the pool but the repair is still not able to go past 21%.
As am running "fixed provisioning" I guess adding a extra drive to the pool doesn't do much difference as it's not available for the virtual disk? So I went ahead and deleted 3 TB of data on the virtual disk so now I've got about 4 TB free space
on the virtual disk so there should be plenty of room for Windows Server 2012 R2 to re-build the parity or whatever it's trying to do but it's still the same, the repair wont move past 21% and the virtual disk is still stuck in "Warning: In Service"
mode and the performance keeps being horrible so taking a backup will take forever at these speeds...
Am I missing something here? All the drives in the pool is working fine. I have verified using various bootable tools so why is this happening and what can I do to get the virtual disk running at full state again? Why doesn't the GUI prompt you with any
    kind of usable information?
    Best regards, Thomas Andre

    Hi,
Please run chkdsk /f /r command on the virtual disk to have a try. In the meantime, run the following commands in PowerShell to share the output.
    get-virtualdisk -friendlyname <name> | get-physicaldisk | fl
    get-virtualdisk -friendlyname <name> |fl
    Best Regards,
    Mandy

  • ITunes 8 STUTTER (in Windows) conquered for once and all (at least for ME)

Like you, I have read, tried and failed to resolve using the many suggested fixes such as disabling air Tunes, reducing audio card sampling rate, changing the audio output settings in Quick Time... literally tore my hair out, went so far as uninstall/reinstall iTunes 8 several times, even bought a couple of different new sound cards (one USB and one PCI) and STILL the stutter persisted. I have over 20 years experience. I got onto the trail when I used MSCONFIG to disable all non-Microsoft services and start up items and rebooted. Played iTunes... NO STUTTER. So then it was which program(s) and or services were at fault? I uninstalled literally almost EVERY optional program on my PC including Adobe stuff, Java stuff and more, NO JOY. Finally, I stumbled across a post on the web where a guy said he DISABLED HIS FIREWALL and I tried it... INSTANT JOY!!!!!
We were running TrendMicro Office Scan firewall. Turning it off solved this stutter issue for ME, it might or might not work for YOU. If all other suggestions have failed, Give it a go. Note: Some corporate users may have to involve their IT people and may or may not be granted the permission to 'try' this...
It worked for me and that's all I'm saying. Hope it helps even just one other soul who has lost patience with what seemed an insurmountably frustrating problem with iTunes 8 stuttering.
Information in this post is given without warranty or guarantee, and end-user assumes all risks of use thereof.
    Cheers.

Disable your flavor of Windows Firewall and see if this clears up the Stutter. It worked for me on Windows XP Pro Service Pack 3 machine with all latest Microsoft patches by disabling Trend Micro Software-based Firewall completely.
NOTE: Disabling your firewall may put you at risk from Internet attack. Consult your IT security adviser for recommendations and best practices specific to your own unique computing situation. In our case we have a HARDWARE FIREWALL (which is STILL ON) that was NOT causing the stutter in iTunes. It appears from trial-and-error empirical testing here that the Trend Micro Office Scan Software firewall was the culprit. Again, this is non-scientific empirical data and given without warranty or guarantee of any kind. You assume all risks of use if you elect to try this fix.

  • I went on iTUnes after not using it for awhile and all my playlists are gone. How can I find them?

    Hi Apple community ---
I went on iTunes after not using it for awhile and my old playlists are all gone.  My library seems intact, but I don't have a record of  my playlists, except for what's in my iPod.  I'm afraid to sync them to get the playlists back into my computer, becuase the last time I synced my iphone it erased all my contacts from both my iphone and my computer, and I don't want the sync operation to remove the playlists from the iPod as well.
I don't have any music on my iPhone, so the two devices in question are just the iTunes program on the computer (it's a Dell with Windows Vista) and my 160 GB iPod classic.
    Thanks for your help!!!

  • Why am I getting errors for swupd_syncd of Product ID: "091-7360" (Java Update)

    The Software Update log has:
    Tue Oct 22 03:01:16 XXX swupd_syncd[4534] <Error>: *** Product ID: "091-7360"; file URL: "http://swcdn.apple.com/content/downloads/35/57/091-7360/ise9pfxzzwi10qx4c2bygqf9llmcch6axd/JavaForMacOSX10.6.dst/091-7360.pt_PT.dist"[...]Tue Oct 22 03:01:17 XXX swupd_syncd[4534] <Info>: Finished downloading product: 091-7360Tue Oct 22 07:06:30 XXX swupd_syncd[15676] <Warning>: ignored invalid download request for product 091-7360, current state = PleaseMirror
There  was http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3127?viewlocale=en_US&locale=en_US -- similar symptions fixed by the 10.6.3 update, but by now I'm at 10.6.8.

Unfortunately, I don't have an answer for you, but at least we can comiserate about the problem. I have 3 different 10.6 SUS installations that are having this problem. I've been trying to directly manipulate the downloaded files, settings, etc. I'm seeing that the downloaded files here:
    /var/db/swupd/html/content/downloads/35/57/091-7360/
do not have any of the ".dst" distribution files for the various languages that should be there. I believe that must be the "incomplete download" part, but I've even copied those files from a 10.5 SUS download (all of the 10.5 SUS engines work w/ this Java update, BTW), still to no avail.
I've also tried manipulating the list of updates in the .plist here:
    /etc/swupd/com.apple.server.swupdate.plist
by changing the flags for 091-7360 to "Mirrored" instead of "PleaseMirror", changing Enabled to "true", and things like that. I still cannot get SUS to be happy w/ this update. I think that if I had a better understanding of how all of these files tie together (you've got lists of updates in /etc/swupd, but also multiple catalog files in /var/db/swupd/html), I might be able to fool the thing into working. Alas, it appears to be beyond me, and I may have to just wait until another Java update for 10.6 is issued to be able to use SUS for it again.
Any further observations you may have would be quite welcome. Maybe we can put our heads together and figure this out.
    Thx,
    Fred

  • Permissions Issues after java update...

So, I noticed after I got the java update awhile back that the permissions associated with it are wrong.
disk utility tries to repair it, claims it does, but still needs to be repaired afterwards. anybody else have this issue, so would it be normal?
I can post the output from disk utility if you guys need it.

It's normal. Not all permissions issues are ever resolved with any update. Unfortunately ever since 10.1.5 had permissions repair features, it never has 100% eradicated permissions issues. Though repairing permissions before and after each update helps, you'll never see a message that all permissions are repaired. As long as there aren't any other issues, I wouldn't worry about it.
