Warranty In Australia

I would like to order the 30gig ipod on line using the Australian on line store. my question is that if you buy an ipod on the on line store is the warranty valid anywhere in Australia?

Liam,
Just in case you change your mind and decide to buy your iPod from an Apple Centre in Australia instead of online:
Make sure that your receipt DOES NOT say like mine did: "No returns unless product is faulty". Careful, because what is faulty is open to interpretation, isn't it? Scratches?...is that faulty? Or, what about if you just change your mind after a few days? Anyway, you get the point. Also, I'm not sure if this is a general Apple Centre policy, or if it is open to each store manager's interpretation. Maybe some stores are different.
I had bought my iPod 4G less than two weeks before the new one came out. My Apple Centre in Canberra did not take it back. You might have more protection if you buy - like you intend to -online, or from an Apple Centre that does not have such policy, but get in in writing anyway.
Cheers,
A.

  • IPhone Warranty in Australia?

I have an iPhone 3GS 16GB that was bought in Germany, however i am moving to Australia in 1 week. My iPhone is still under Apples 1 Year Warranty. If i have a hardware problem on my iPhone, will Apple in Australia fix it under my Apple Warranty, although i bought it in Germany?
    Thanks

iPhone warranty is only valid in the country in which the device was sold by Apple.
If you have issues with your device in Australia you will need to send it to Apple in Germany for warranty service.

  • IPhone 3G warranty in Australia

When I was talking to the Optus store staff on Friday about getting a iPhone 3G they said that the warranty on the iPhone 3G is one year and I should buy there extended warranty. But I remember seeing on the Apple site before launch that warranty is 2 years on a contract. So if I get the iPhone 3G and it's on a contract am I covered for two years by Apple like the pre-release iPhone site said or do I have to buy Optus's extended warranty plan to be covered for the full two years of my contract?

I'm not sure about Australia, but in the U.S. Apple includes a limited manufacturer's warranty for one year only, and telephone support for two years or during the length of the contract with the cellular provider.
I'm not sure if the AppleCare extended warranty is available in Australia but if so, this extends Apple's standard one year warranty by an additional year. If available in Australia, you should check the price for the AppleCare extended warranty compared to Optus's extended warranty and if Optus includes something that the AppleCare extended warranty does not include.

  • Sony told me to fly from Tokyo to Australia to fix my self cracked Z3 :(

This is absolutley ridiculous.  The story: I am spending 40 days in Japan.  3 hours before my flight I wake up and find a hairline crack from the lower speaker to the edge of screen in the front glass.  Most of the screen is unresponsive to touch making the 2 DAY OLD phone useless.  The phone was in a 23 degree room sitting on a pile of clothes.  It cracked totally by itself. Of course I had zero time to get it replaced in Australia, I had to make my flight.  So now I am in Tokyo with a broken phone and I NEED a working phone.  I need to for communicating, translating, navigating and also for work (I am a web developer and make lots of mobile sites and NEED a test phone).   I was prepared for Sony to pull the warranty card, I am totally prepared  to PAY to get it fixed (even though Sony broke my phone themselves by design).  But the thing I am most pissed off about is the fact that Sony in Ginza, right on their tax free floor where they enourage people to buy Sony products and take them overseas said that I must fly back to Australia to fix my Xperia Z3.  **bleep**???!!  YOU FIX Z3'S THERE ALL THE TIME, WHY NOT MINE?.. Sony sells me a phone that breaks itself, then provies zero warrenty and then refeses to fix it even if I pay.  It seems spiteful and childish and what did I ever to do Sony?... Thanks Sony, really great.  Awesome.  I have about 10 walkmans including the $1000 NWZ, I have the $700 HPA-1 AMP, $1000 MDR ex1000 headphones, a $2000 VAIO, a Sony 42inch LCD not to mention every PlayStation and handheld ever created.  I have given Sony about 20K.  Yet the ONE time I need them to provide me with a product that works they treat me like this... I have created a case with the ACCC already for when you refuese to fix it under warranty in Australia if it comes to that and I have registered two sony xperia domain names ready to create sites to go to PR war with you (as I said I am a web developer and great at what I do).  But preferably I would like you to DO THE RIGHT THING and just fix my phone which broke itself so I can go back to enjoying my working holiday with my EXPENSIVE phone.

    Hi Stilly,
Did you notice this in the e-mail MSI sent you:
------------------------------------------------------------------------- We hope the directions below answer your question. If your problem still cannot be solved after going through all the suggestions, then you can reply this e-mail containing the automatic reply with your original e-mail. We will get back to you as soon as possible.
I don't know much about this, but you may be able to buy a comparable fan fron your local computer store - take the card in and ask the guy about it (I understand computer/graphics card fans are not very expensive).
It might be worth a try.
Of course, the card may not accept any other kind of fan - it all depends on how it attaches to the card.
If you do return the card to MSI there may be be postal charges etc. so the computer store MAY be your best, quickest, and cheapest option.
Anyway, it's up to you now - good luck and let us now how you get on.

  • X-fi warranty informat

How can I tell if mu X-fi is 4mb buffer or 2mb buffer as per the last post on this page: http://forums.creative.com/creativelabs/board/message?board.id=soundblaster&message.id=26289&vie w=by_date_ascending&page=73
I have the non-heatsinked samsung ram version if thats any help.
Also, if it was purchased from Asia does it still have a valid warranty in Australia? (I read the FAQ and it didnt say which ones did or didnt).
I dont have all the required information for technical support so I thought I would post here for the mean time.
    Cheers.

I do not know what creative consider is a territory !!
Unless I am mistaked according to european law warranties have to cover the whole of the european union and although creative's warranty staes that it is only applicable in teh country of purchase it also contains the following paragraph
"This warranty gives You specific legal rights. You may also have other rights, which vary from state to state and country to country. Some states and countries do not allow limitations on how long an implied warranty lasts, or the exclusion or limitation of incidental or consequential damages, so the above limitations or exclusions may not apply to You."
My interpretation of this paragraph is that creative's pretty draconian limitations relating to country of purchase may well be totally opposite to that which is enshrined in consumer protection law in certain countries...as an example it is possible taht a UK court will not agree with time scales in terms of warranty cover as goods have to be fit for purpose for an acceptable period which a court could well define as being longer than the two years specified by creative for the x-fi
I advise people to seek appropriate advice in their own country before they accept creative's warranty restrictions as gospel !!

  • If I buy an IPhone 6 in USA and then want to use it here will it work? Obviously I will buy an australia SIM card... Any tips?

A Family friend lives in new york and wants to buy me and iphone 6 as a present, if he does willl i be able to use it here (obviously I will buy and Australian sim card)?
    thanks

In other words, we don't know.  At present, Apple does not sell unlocked iPhones 6 and 6plus.  Some say that T-Mobile will unlock it, but why take a chance?  You will have no warranty in Australia...the phone must be returned to the US for service.  You also don't know for sure if it will work in Australia.  Get the Apple store gift card.

As long as you have warranty coverage Australian, then both of these problems are covered.
You can determine whether your machine is eligible for warranty in Australia, by checking the following website.
    http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?lndocid=LOOK-IWS#sw
Issue 1, requires you to send the laptop to the depot (once you contacted Lenovo warranty on 131-426, they will arrange pick up and delivery to the nearest depot using DHL Express).
Issue 2, can be resolved through Lenovo service sending out the replacement drive to you (you can request a set of recovery media, if you haven't made one already), and you give the courier (Toll Priority) the broken one.

  • Satellite A660 - Broadcom internal wireless adaptor is not working

    Hi all,
My first post to this board - I have a new Toshiba Satellite A660 notebook - have only had it for about 4 weeks and it has turned out to be a disaster for me...
FIRST - I spend weeks getting everything on and configured the way I want it - then the hard disk starts to die...
I just got it back from the Toshiba service centre and NOW the wifi has stopped working...
The internal broadcom wireless adaptor is not working - but according to windows and the built in diagnostics it IS working...
HOWEVER - when I try to use wireless with the built in adaptor it can't detect any wireless networks...
I then plug in my backup usb netgear wireless adaptor and I can pick up and connect to both of my home wireless networks...
I am going overseas in a few weeks and need to know that my notebook is going to work/be reliable and not have any more problems - if anyone can help me with this it would be much appreciated.
    John.

A further update for you all...
Okay - went back to the Toshiba service centre - the first dead hard disk was replaced by them - but the REAL problem not spotted - it looks like my laptop came out of the Toshiba factory with a faulty motherboard - this in turn has now fried the second hard drive - and now - with a new motherboard and THIRD hard drive it looks like the hardware side of things MIGHT just be solved - but NOW I still have the problem that because the motherboard has been screwed since day one (I only bought this laptop in November 2010) it has basically stuffed/corrupted all of my backups - so now the service centre is charging me 60 dollars to get a set of disks so I can re-image the system myself when I have the chance - and then spend a month putting back all the applications and configuration and data the way I had it after the first few weeks of buying it (at that stage I thought I was good to go and had the perfect new laptop and setup for work...)
So - I'm heading off overseas in a couple of weeks - my 3 year extended warranty from Australia will not be of any use to me where I am going - not covered - but am STILL hopeful that I'll get the rest of the problems sorted - still can't run the toshiba hdd protection software for more than a few days without it dying and having to be reinstalled and the toshiba pc health monitor does not work at all - when I go to install it it doesn't recognize the bios or whatever - and on top of that I'm using third party hard disk monitoring software (because the toshiba stuff doesn't work on this toshiba laptop - but the third party stuff does) - well, anyway - the third party software is telling me the hard disk has reallocated sectors count error - and there is a CAUTION showing all the time - which I guess indicates that there is now a hard drive problem with the third hard disk (?)
Anyway - if ANYONE has had a similar run of bad luck to mine with the A660/O7U - I'd really like to know...
    John.

  • Around the world Apple Support

I have a problem with my power pack which is still under warranty and a problem with Mail which has to be Force Quit every single time I want to shut down.  I am under warranty in Australia, but am currently in Spain for an extended time.  I have no Australian phone number but the Apple Support site won't let me input a Spanish phone number in the Australian Support site.  If I change to SPAIN, I get Spanish on-screen (which I can work through with the help of Google Translate) but then I get a pre-recorded phone message from Apple IN SPANISH which I don't speak.  Can anyone tell me how I can get through to an English speaking support centre either by phone or email?

    cruisingfeijao wrote:
This list IS the problem.  The Spain Contact is in Spanish and only results in a Spanish recorded telephone message - I don't understand what the machine is saying to me, and the Australia Contact will not accept a Spanish phone number.  I'm stuck.
Yes I can imagine that would be frustrating. Not sure how to solve it, do you have any friends or associates that can help translate for? Definitely not ideal but it may work.

  • Recovery Media created 5 factory restore discs as requested, however 6 were needed for my restore!

I clicked finish as there were no more discs requested when burning a set of 5 (as asked for by the HP Recovery Media software).
Now when I'm trying to do a factory restore, it asks for disc 6 which of course, I don't have.
As I re-formatted everything a little while back, I can't use F11(?) to restore anything back except by my discs. My notebook is a dv7t-4100 CTO. I live in Australia but a new set of recovery discs are only posted to USA & Canadian residents. Any ideas please?

They would send you the Recovery discs (if your still in the warranty) in Australia.
I once has to order Recovery discs for my laptop, I contacted HP by chatting with them online, and they have send the discs.

I have to agree with sapporobaby here. The moral to this story is not to buy an expensive device outside of the country in which you live. I have been thinking of getting a phone from mobicity. Only problem all their phones come from hong kong and are not covered by warranty in Australia. If I am spending $800 plus on a device I want warranty cover in the country that I live. End of story. So do not blame Nokia. If you got your phone from HK that is now your problem. So why should Nokia in Australia repair a phone you bought in HK. Don't think you would get much joy from the consumer affairs people in Australia either.
Well we started off the new year agreeing. There is hope for anything now. Are you guys listening over in Palestine and Israel?
Anyway, nothing is covered internationally now. Maybe one or two things but most electronics aren't, even if you can prove your product is authentic. I have a registered Nikon camera that was purchased in Kuwait. Nikon USA found the product code from my camera but told me if it needs repair, I will have to either: 1. Board a plane to take it back to Kuwait, or 2. Send it to a local repair shop for them to send it to Kuwait where I will pay the shipping but get the warranty work for free, or 3. arrange to ship it myself with me still picking up some part of the tab. So, once again, go buy something else and get over it.

  • Satellite M70-340: Question about warranty if I buy in Russia and move to Australia

I'd like to buy notebook Satellite M70-340 here in Russia. Next month I'm going to move to Australia. What about the warranty in this case?
Will I have to pay if some trouble occurs?
How can I recognise a laptop which is officially sold (= i mean legally delivered and has a worldwide warranty)?
Thanx a lot for your answer!

    Hi
I dont know what you mean with officially sold and I hope you will buy notebook in PC store and not on the street. As far as I know every new notebook has one year international warranty but if you will stay longer you can buy warranty extension. It must be buying by authorized service partner in your country.
If you have troubles in Australia go to service partner and they will check if the unit is stolen or official soled. After that it can be repaired. As I said, contact Authorized Toshiba service partner in Russia and ask for warranty extension.

  • My iPhone 5 has flickeringlights apple cannot repair it or replace it even though I am under the warranty period as I bought my my phone in Ireland and now I am in Australia.how can apple offer worldwide warranty and not do anything about it ?

Why does apple cannot repair a phone or replace it is still under warranty even though it is bought from Ireland and make is of USA be coz the warranty is worldwide.what should I do ,I have talked to AppleCare in Australia as well as Ireland and they couldn't help.any hope for this question please?

You have to send it to a friend/relative in the US and have them bring tt to an Apple Store for warranty purposes.
FYI: It was purchased in Ireland.
Not looking to start a big debate over this.
    Note that under the warranty,
"IMPORTANT RESTRICTION FOR iPHONE AND iPAD SERVICE.
Apple may restrict warranty service for iPhone and iPad to the country where Apple or its Authorized Distributors originally sold the device."
It does not state they WILL NOT service in another country.
Likewise, nowhere does it state it MUST be serviced in country of purchase.
    Also;
"Service will be limited to the options available in the country where service is requested. Service options, parts availability and response times may vary according to country. You may be responsible for shipping and handling charges if the Apple Product cannot be serviced in the country it is in. If you seek service in a country that is not the original country of purchase, you will comply with all applicable import and export laws and regulations and be responsible for all custom duties, V.A.T. and other associated taxes and charges. Where international service is available, Apple may repair or replace Apple Products and parts with comparable Apple Product and parts that comply with local standards."
This paragraph would not be here if it was only as simple as "service is only available in the original country of purchase".
    Soniafromire,
I'd press the issue and see if they will send it to the country of purchase for service if you pay these fees.

  • My iphone 4 doesn't working and i think frozen still on warranty but im here in philippines i just bought in chadstone victoria australia can i use warranty in milan because im going there for work

please help me my iphone doesn't work.

Sorry, but the warranty on the iPhone is country-specific (or, in the case of an EU iPhone, specific to the EU). An Australian iPhone can be serviced only in Australia. You'll have to ship it to someone you know back in Australia to take or send it to Apple or an authorized service center. Once repaired, if you're going to be living in Italy for any length of time, I'd suggest selling the iPhone to someone in Australia and purchasing on there in Italy so you have local service and support.
    Regards.
