Was going to LR2, but maybe not?!

So I have been running LR1.4 for quite some time with no issues at all since
it's inception from 1.0. Maybe one of the lucky ones. I am running a fairly
fast machine with XP Pro and 4gigs of ram. Anyhow, when I had seen that LR2
came up, I was really eager to try it out, but alas, I am usually not one to
be one of the first to update because hardly any major software is perfect
on a new release. Therefore I kept an eye on the web and specifically this
forum to see what was roosting people with LR2. At this point I am thinking
that it is better safe than sorry and while there may be some neat stuff to
use in LR2, I have been doing great with 1.4 and therefore maybe it is best
to hold out for a bit until a major update for version 2 comes out. Who else
is along with this thinking and why? For me, I am dealing with well over
75,000 images which may be chump change for some people db, but I still
don't want to invite issues. Anyone see any sense in my logic or is my
thinking off? LOL.

The batterys the ipods come with are very sensetive somtimes they dont react right to the first couple of charges. Try fully charging it and then leaving it on until its completely drained a few times. If that doesnt work it might be a lemon.

It sounds like you have done some great troubleshooting for your iPod nano that is not responding. In this situation, if resetting it did not resolve, I would suggest restoring the iPod back to its factory settings and then sync your content back onto it from iTunes. I just got the update for firefox 3.6.7 sometimes when I open up firefox; it acts like it is going to crash but does not. If there is to be a problem, I just wanted to let you know. If there is a problem with the update, it should be resolved as soon as possible.

Macbook goes to sleep but does not wake-up

Hello, my Macbook is 3 years old and I am now having trouble with it. Whenever it goes to sleep, it does not wake up. This includes if I close the screen and then when reopening, it will not come back on. I am on version 10.4.11
Below is the power settings on the machine in case it is something to do with the battery/power source.

Hmm... I've had this macbook for a while now (?? a year maybe ??) and about 2 months ago I started having this exact issue, close lid to sleep returning it would not wake and a hard reset (hold power for 5+ seconds) is required.

But as others have said there doesn't appear to be a solution?
RESET THE SMC (http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3964) does appear to work, however the issue returns again after a few days or weeks... I cannot find anything that guarantees to return the issue it just starts happening again after a while.
The battery appears to be in okay condition, although I think it might run down a little faster now days than when I first bought it, but I assume this is to be expected.
I also had suffered from what sounds like an issue with wifi weirdness - signal would drop to 0% suddenly, no longer "see" the wifi hub that it has been using forever (although it still, randomly, sees other nearby hubs) for no apparent reason, and that kind of thing - all these times the only solutions that have worked have been to stuff around with the wifi hub turing off extas, flipping from "Auto" to a specific Number (1 to 13) and turning on (OR OFF!) Mixed B/G to just B OR G... very strange... and random.
The only things I've changed recently are, upgraded to snow leopard (from leopard) and got an external display. But I cannot say if the incidents coincided or not, as I didn't realise the sleep/wake issue was an issue for a while, as the first few times I just thougth "Oh, something weirds happened... Reset..." and didnt' really think too much about it until it happened for the 3rd or 4th time and I could see there was a pattern...
The external monitor via minidisplay port adaptor i got from teh apple store.
I don't use it with the machine closed or external keyboard/mouse, although I've heard you can do this, I use the monitor as a secondary display when I'm at the desk, the rest of the time I just use it as I have always done.
I would love to see a solution to this, I guess I could try warranty, but I dunno if the issue is warranty "level"...?

Cropping Photo appears to reduce image quality - but maybe not

This morning I took some pictures of hoar frost, and then emailed a couple of them to a friend. I chose the actaul image size which said it was 3.3MB. Tonight, I was going to email them again to have them printed, so I cropped the picture (with the built in editor) and constrained it to 4x6, and then emailed it. Before it sent, I noticed "actual size" was about 850KB - at least that's what it said. That made me nervous considering it was going to be a print quality photo. If it was true, that would have been a significant resolution loss.
I pulled the email that I had sent earlier in the morning - which said it was 3.3MB - and sent it to myself. I then sent myself the 846KB picture and pulled them both up side by side on my large computer screen and they look identical as far as resolution.
Is this just a weird fluke or have other's experienced this as well?

No it is however best to use save for the web to do so for the best optimization.
keep in mind the only lose in quality will be if some one grabbed it off of the website and tried to enlarge it or view it at a larger display size.
What you want to do is the best way of reducing the size.

Email was fine for months, but now not...

Email was working fine for months for a client who has their web site hosted at Business Catalyst, but their email is hosted externally with 1&1.
However, on Saturday morning at 7am GMT, the emails stopped working.
To my knowledge, no settings have been changed in the BC Admin Panel for DNS.
Here are the DNS entries as of today...

The only minor problem I see in that setup is that both MX records have the same priority level, which is set to 10 - http://www.dnswatch.info/dns/dnslookup?la=en&host=swifthire.co.uk&type=MX&submit=Resolve
But that means that the mail may be sent to sometimes to mx01.1and1.co.uk and somatimes to mx00.1and1.co.uk.
1to1 recomendation is to set mx01.1and1.co.uk to 20 as per http://faq.1and1.com/domains/domain_admin/dns_settings/5.html
But this should not stop the mail from being delivered.
So, whatever the issue is it's certainly not at the DNS level and anyone who knows anything about DNS from 1to1 should be able to tell that by a simple DNS lookup.

Autofill Issue - Kinda' strange, but maybe not

I was wondering if anyone else is having this problem - I just purchased a Shuffle today, and when I use the "Autofill" function, with "Replace all songs" checked, it only replaces some songs from Shuffle. Yes, I am autofilling from my library and not a smart playlist. I have tried restoring my ipod's defaults but it still only randomly replaces a portion of the songs on the Shuffle, not all of them. I was thinking that it is because I only have around 700 songs, but that shoudn't be the case, since the Shuffle only holds between 200 and around 260 if you're lucky (bit rate 128). I also have the random box checked too, as I don't want songs in order from my library to be extracted and put onto the iPod. I hope I haven't confused the heck out of anyone. Like I said, I hope this is a minor problem that someone else may have experienced and not a malfunction with my new toy. Thanks everyone for your time.

A random replacement from an entire Library will inevitably select some of the same tracks that you already have on there ... hence the randomness. It will, in fact, wind up selecting many more than most folks would expect.
The "Replace All ..." menu selection doesn't mean that all songs currently in the Shuffle's playlist will be removed and will not be repeated on this load. It's just a short way of designating all of the tracks for possible replacement. If you want to guarantee total replacement then you have to do things differently.

My computer keeps crashing when im in the middle of any game. I thought it was because of overheating but im not sure. Can u guys help me out?

When i installed games such as (Command and Conquer: Generals shockwave and Age of empires 3) the game crashed in the middle of games.
Every time it crashed my fans were going at around 4000 rpm but decreased quickly.
My mac always asked whether i wanted to reopen it.

Usually, when my vintage (as in, bought in 2006) MBP did that, it was because it was overheating, as you suspect. Now, you've got yourself a brand-new machine, and I'm sure there are many posts in this forum related to that issue.
There's one thing you can do (this one is two-fold, actually), and one you can't:
1) Starting with the good news, you can install a prefpane called Fan Control (free, here: http://www.macupdate.com/app/mac/23137/fan-control), that will let you control base speed and temp threshold for your fans (the ones on your Mac, I mean...); additionally, you can also install a widget called iStat Pro (free, here: http://www.islayer.com/apps/istatpro/), that you can invoke through Dashboard after freezing your game, so that it lets you know the current temperature your Mac is operating under.
2) Now, for the (semi-) bad news: given your MBP probably has an "i-something" processor, you won't be able to install this Scandinavian gem that's called CoolBook, that lets you undervolt your logic board so as to prevent overheating. CoolBook currently doesn't support i-3 to i-7 processors because they don't rely on the same SMB sensors as the older Intel processors Apple installed in its machines prior to the current generation of MacBooks, MBP, MBA and the like. I said semi-bad news, because undervolting has obvious effects on your machine's response when under strain; if you are using processor- or memory-intensive applications, they might (scratch that, they will) be slowed down by an undervolted logic board. Video games being one.

Hey myFICO, I was added to my GF's BOA Rewards card 2 months ago. She has had perfect payments since the opening of her card in 2009. When it hit my report it only has given me her history of payments since the beginning of 2014. So I'm missing around 5 years of history with that account. Has anyone had this issue before? If so what did you do?

That's awkward, I'd wait for another month or two to see if a further update fixes it but otherwise I'd probably airstrike it and then readd it as a test, but not sure a 7 month old tradeline really does you any good.

What you are doing is not supported by Oracle. From EM Database Console FAQ (863631.1):
What action needs to be taken if the hostname or SID of the database server is changed?
If there is a hostname or SID change for the database server then the database console needs to be recreated. There is no other solution if the hostname or SID is changed other that recreating the database console. All database console configuration files are created under the hostname_sid directory and the configuration files along with the repository keeps reference of the hostname, which is why dbconsole needs to be reconfigured if there is change in hostname/sid.

Preview closes when opening, but maybe not entirely

Usually when I download a PDF from Firefox, or open one for the first time since my computer has been on, Preview bounces, stops bouncing and the light underneath is on. After about 10 seconds it then appears to close itself (with no error message). However, when I reopen Preview (or double-click the file again) it instantly reopens with the document I originally opened...
I take it this is not supposed to happen?

Also, you can go to service.sap.com/support and log a case, all valid purchases include access to Service Market Place where you can create a support case. You should have info with an "S" user account to log in. If not then you contact CIC ( customer services and they should be able to provide one for you )
There have been noted install issues, SP 1 has resolved a few of them....
If you create new reports do any of those crash the designer?

Nexus issue but maybe not.

So,
This is going to have like no tech info, I'm currently gathering all that up.
But has anyone one here had this issue.
I have two server VM guys trying to do vmotion from one storage array to another and they are getting to what the tech has called "Phase 5" and it's crapping out at that point with timeouts.
They are asking me if see buffer overflow or anything of that kind.
nexus 5010 flash is version 5.0.2.n2.1

Just a little more detail,
So the server guys are doing Storage VM Motion. It gets about 65% of the way and dies. There are no CPU spikes on the storage controllers.
I'm having TAC look at it today hopefully I can post a solution in here.

firefox is default browser. when I use explorer, it works.

You can check if you can start Firefox in [[Safe Mode|Safe Mode]] by holding down the Shift/Options key.
Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode|Safe Mode]] to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem.
*Switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance
*Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window
