Watched folder endpoint - error

Hello all,
I am currently developing process that with watched folder endpoit.
When I deploy process, exception is thrown (deployment fails).
I checked LC has access to /opt/TransferScans folder - I created dummy process (endpoint SOAP) which reads, creates and deletes files - it is working.
I even tried to create /opt/TransferScans/008/result manually. After this operation deployment fails - it says that folder is used by another process (namaed null) form host 'unknown'
Any ideas to solve the problem?

  • Problem with Watched Folder endpoint

    Hi,
    We have a problem with a watched folder endpoint. The watched folder is set in a directory in a linux server. The directory then is mapped to a windows directory where files arrive from time to time. Everything works fine until the watched folder service stops for no particular reason. After that we need to restart the service from the admin UI console.
    I found in another post something related to the MySql database losing connection with livecycle after some inactivity, but I'm not sure if this is our case or even how to solve the problem.
    Here's what we found in the log

    This is issue that you are seeing is just for the client, correct? The ZESM server and ZCM server are on separate machines, correct?

  • Watched Folder Endpoint

    Hai,
    Where sholud we use the Watched Folder Endpoint?
    What is the use of it?
    Thanks for any reply.
    -Aswani.

    Task manager end point is for Workspace.
    Watched folder end point is for stand-alone files.
    Email end point is to initiate process upon email arrivals to a specific INBOX.
    SOAP for web services
    Remoting for Flex
    EJB for Java based invocations.

  • MAN, I hate the labyrinthine way PSE 11 works! "Watch Folder Service" Error

    MAN, I hate the labyrinthine way PSE 11 works!  Both in the program itself, and in the "support" section. This is so stupid!  I just entered my question 5 minutes ago, now I have to enter it all over again. I've been trying to find an answer to my problem for 5 months!  It is NOT "faster and easier to find your answer on-line." It is a royal runaround! Aaagh!
    When I launch Photoshop Elements 11 - Organizer
    1. A box called Elements Organizer comes up, saying it is "Updating." After a long time, it reaches 100%
    2. A box called Watch Folder Service comes up, saying: "The Watch Folder Service returned and error: Message Format, Invalid Tag Id."
    3. Then Photoshop is completely jammed. I cannot do anything until I use CTRL-ALT-DEL (Windows Task Manager) to shut down PSE.
    Get me out of here!

    Tou could try a reset this is from the Help system Here
    Restore default preferences
    Preference settings control how Photoshop Elements displays images, cursors, and transparencies, saves files, uses plug‑ins and scratch disks, and so on. If the application exhibits unexpected behavior, the preferences file may be damaged. You can restore all preferences to their defaults.
    Note:
    Deleting the preferences file is an action that cannot be undone.
    Do one of the following:
    Press and hold Alt+Control+Shift (Mac: Option+Command+Shift) immediately after Photoshop Elements begins launching. Click Yes to delete the Adobe Photoshop Elements settings file.
    Go to Edit > Preferences (Mac: Photoshop Elements > Preferences > General), click the Reset Preferences on next launch button, and then click OK. When you restart Adobe Photoshop Elements, all preferences are reset to default settings.
    A new preferences file is created the next time you start Photoshop Elements. For information on a specific preference option, search for the preference name in Help.

  • I want to read the content of a text file dropped in a watched folder into a string variable

    I have a workbench process with 2 variable.
    inDoc (DataType=Document/input/required)
    outStr (DataType = String/output)
    The document being passed to the workflow is a text file with 4 lines of text in it.  when the text file is dropped into the watched folder, it will be assigned to the inDoc parameter in the workflow.
    My workflow needs to extract the 4 lines of text and write it into a string (outStr).
    Id like to use the FileUtilsService.ReadString service but i can't since its input parameter is the file path.  When i do, i get the following error...

    I've also tried with the Script.executeScript to call some java code but im not too strong in java and in all the examples i find, the file pointer requires a file path.
    import java.io.*;
    FileInputStream f = new FileInputStream(patExecContext.getProcessDataValue("/process_data/inDoc"));
    OR
    File f = new File(patExecContext.getProcessDataValue("/process_data/inDoc"));
    OR
    File f = patExecContext.getProcessDataValue("/process_data/inDoc");
    Any clue how to resolve my problem?

    Try the following code snippet to read the String content from the file recieved through watched folder endpoint.
    com.adobe.idp.Document inputDoc = patExecContext.getProcessDataDocumentValue("/process_data/inDoc");
    java.io.InputStream inStream = inputDoc.getInputStream();
    byte[] dataBuffer = new byte[inStream.available()];
    inStream.read(dataBuffer);
    String strData = new String(dataBuffer);
    patExecContext.setProcessDataStringValue("/process_data/outStr",strData);
    The code is not tested, hence if you find any mistakes, correct and test the functionality.

  • Applying rights management through a watched folder

    Greetings -- I'm trying to apply rights management to a PDF through a watched folder. I've created a short-lived process that invokes the Rights management Apply Policy module and created a watched folder endpoint. When I drop a PDF file into the watched folder, however, the result ends up in the failure bin (after a very, very long delay). Here's the error from the resultant log file:

    Any ideas on how to fix this?

    I believe the issue is that the user that you named in the enpoint definition as the person who will execute the service has to be named in the policy. Add that user to your policy.

  • Using watched folder

    Hi, I'm having problems with watched folder endpoint.<br /><br />I have a very simple process which consists of one activity - assign task and I want to start this process by copying a PDF to specified folder. I've added a watched folder endpoint for this process and it automatically created appropriate sub folders (input, result, failure etc.).<br /><br />The problem starts when I copy a PDF file to the input folder. LiveCycle picks up the file but the process doesn't start. PDF gets moved to the failure folder and the failure.log shows the reason:<br /><br />ALC-DSC-119-000: com.adobe.idp.dsc.util.InvalidCoercionException: Cannot coerce object: <document description here> of type: com.adobe.idp.Document to type: class com.adobe.idp.taskmanager.form.impl.xfa.XFARepositoryFormInstance<br /><br />What am I doing wrong?<br /><br />Thanks<br />Bartek

    When you create your watch folder endpoint, you have to map some of the input variables for your process to a file pattern.
    This will take the file matching the pattern and put it in that variable. Now the variable type needs to be the right type to receive the file.
    From your error, it looks like you're trying to put a PDF file in a xfaForm variable, which wouldn't work. You need to put the PDF in a document variable.
    So, make sure in your process that you have an input document variable. Then in your watch folder configuration, when you map your input varibale to a file pattern, make sure you select literal and a pattern like *.pdf

  • Conversion with settingsDocument using PDFG Watched folder

    Hi all,
    I am creating a PDF Conversion process.
    I want to convert ps to pdf with settingsDocument using DistillerService watched folders.
    I configured inputDocument in DistillerService Endpoint to Variable:*.ps and it works. I put a ps file to input folder, then the PDF file was created in the result folder.
    Then I configured settingsDocument to Variable:*.xml.
    I expected PDF Conversion with settingsDocument when I put a ps file and an xml file which I exported from PDFG to the input folder.
    But, the created PDF seemed to be the same file as the PDF created without settingsDocument configuration and the xml file remained in the input folder.
    I made a security setting named "Security" including password security and exported a configuration xml which includes this security setting.
    I put a ps and this xml to the input folder, but the created pdf opened without password.
    If I configure securitySettings to Literal:Security , it works. The created PDF is locked with password. I want to do this using setting xml.
    Any ideas?

  • PDF Generator Watched Folder Settings

    Hi,<br /><br />In Livecycle ES PDF Generator, I am using the Distiller Service with a  Watched Folder Endpoint to convert my files.<br /><br />I can currently get an output into the Result folder such as<br />C:\livecycle\WatchedFolder\Result\<inputfilename>\output.pdf<br /><br />This is using \%F\ as the Output Parameter in the WatchedFolder settings which is described here:<br /><br />-------------------------------------------<br />Output Parameter Mappings<br />Used to configure the outputs of the service and operation. That gives me output in the /Result directory, but the files are named

  • Photoshop 9 Organizer - Watch Folder Error

    PS9 Organizer is a waste of time, and it would be nice if Adobe would answer a few questions about their product. Can not get Organizer to back up files. When I start Organizer, it immediately brings up a window stating "Elements Organizer Updating", even though there is nothing to update. After several minutes of the bar going from 0% to 100%, it sits idle until a message pops up, "Watch Folder Service: The Watch Folder Service returned an error: Message Format. Invalid Tag ID." The only option is to say "OK". Clicking the ok button removes the error warning box, but the Organizer now sits there with the Updating box, from now till doomsday, and will not run. I am using a 64bit, HP Laptop, with Vista Home and 4GB of RAM. Fine Product there Adobe.

    I too get this same error.  PSE 10, no previous versions, Lightroom 3 loaded on as well.  The first time I installed PSE 10, I got this error and had to CTRL-ALT-DEL each time I tried to go into Organizer.  Like others have said, no problems in Editor.  I uninstalled and reinstalled hoping this would fix the problem...it now gives me this error message sporadically, I get lucky every now and then and do not get the message.
    It would be nice for this to work, but my alternative may have to be to turn off Watch Folders in PSE 10, import into Lightroom, then Export into PSE 10?  Maybe, I haven't tried yet.

  • Watch Folder Returned an error message(Elements 10)

    I recently upgraded from elements 8 to version 10, and am having nothing but trouble in one area. When I start Elements, the box will come up saying "updating", and will take sometimes 18 hours to go to 100%, even if there have been no photos to add. Whe it gets to 100%, I get this message:  "The watch folder service returned and error: Message format, Invalid Tag Id"
    Has anyone heard of this? Should I reinstall elements and start over? The program is basically unusable. I'm stumped and normally very good at this. I'm running a fast desktop, windows 7, etc. Please help!

    Hi,
    I'm not sure which step solved the issue however I run a security software on my Mac so I disabled that completely.
    Then I located iMovie in the APP Store and instead of a button saying BUY it was labeled as INSTALL.
    So having done those 2 steps, iMovie went ahead and updated to 10.0.4.
    My guess is the security software was blocking the update somehow.
    Hope this helps.
    Cheers
