Watermark image w/transparent borders and raindrop in pool effect

Hi there,
I have learned how to place a transparent image in iMovie using Quictime Pro but I can't seem to place an image with transparent borders. What I have is an icon with rounded corners and a transparent center. The icon looks very blocky right now with the hard corners, any suggestions on how to make the edges and center transparent?
I have seen in other videos a "raindrop into a pool" effect that I'd also like to use, does any know if there is a 3rd party plug-in for iMovie or what other video software is used to create this effect?
Thanks

I just figured out the transparent image problem, my source .psd was CMYK, after changing it RGB and apply the alpha transparency layer it looks great.
Anybody know the "drop in pond" effect?

  • An Image JPanel, A semi-transparent JPanel, and non-opaque components

    This is a more intelligent re-asking of the question I posed here: http://forum.java.sun.com/thread.jspa?threadID=579298&tstart=50.
    I have a class called ImagePane, which is basically a JPanel with an image background. The code is much like the ImagePanel posted by camickr, discussed in this topic: http://forum.java.sun.com/thread.jspa?forumID=57&threadID=316074 (except mine only draws the image, it does not tile or scale it).
    On top of my ImagePane, I can place another component, TransparentContainer. This again extends JPanel, only a color is specified in the constructor, and it is drawn at about 70% opacity. This component is meant to help increase the readability of text components that blend with the background image, without blocking out the background image completely.
    This works very well, until I need to add a component, like, say, a non-opaque JRadioButton in a ButtonGroup. When you select a new JRadioButton at runtime, the semi-transparent JPanel fills with a combination of a completely opaque color (the one specifies to the TransparentContainer) and garbage from the non-opaque component being redrawn.
    I have noticed that the UI is restored to being non-messed up if you place another application window on top of it and then move it. So apparently, one solution is to redraw the entire UI, or just the part that has the JRadioButton on it, every time the radio button is clicked. However, this seems unnecessarily complicated. It seems to me that I am missing something in my TransparentContainer's paintComponent() method. Does anyone have any ideas?
    Here is my TransparentContainer code, if it will help:
    import java.awt.AlphaComposite;
    import java.awt.Color;
    import java.awt.Graphics;

    public TransparentContainer(Color color, boolean fullTrans)good luck!!

  • Pages export on project shows image blurry in pdf and white borders printin

    I just completed a newsletter with the header an image create in photoshop and exported as bmp at highest rez.
    Its in the pages doc and everything looks great. But i export it to pdf and the header image looks soft and blurrish and not sharp at all. Even the print out looks like that.
    Also, i wanted to have the whole a4 size to be covered in the document, but when i print from pdf, i get these white borders and top and bottom cut off.
    Any way I can select the document size in pages manually.
    any advice.

    .bmp is an inferior Windows format and is not natively supported in OSX. Formats you should use are .tiff, .png, jpeg or .pdf, even straight Photoshop files.
    OSX will convert the .bmp to .pdf or .png but I suspect your problem maybe more than that. Have you used transparency, reflections or shadows? because OSX will render those down to 72dpi.
    The page size is selected in +File > Page Setup… > where you can also manually add a custom size without borders/margins. Your problem may come however from your printer's printable area.

  • How to create borders and watermarks in the new photos app?

    In iPhoto we could create borders and watermarks amongst other features when going to the Export Option under File.
    Does anyone know if/how we can do both in the new Photos App?
    If not, what's the next best option for creating borders and watermarks, and does Photos support plug ins?
    This is my first question of what Im guessing will be a series in getting to know and utilize Apples forceful technology.

    You're not missing anything.  You're correct in your finding that adding/modifying location data in the new Photos application has been removed.
    With that said, in a proactive manor you can submit feedback (do it at http://www.apple.com/feedback/iphoto.html since there is no section for Photos yet) and request that location modification be added.  The more people who do it, the more likely it is to be added.

  • Giving a black and white line work image a transparent background

    I am working in Photoshop CS4 (mac).  Currently, the image is comprised of black line on a white background.  How do I go about giving the image a transparent background?

    A day later, I have still not figured out how to accomplish what it is I am trying to do.
    I have not yet tried what you have suggested in the last post and am about to go at it once again.  I should mention two things.  1. My  goal is to drop this image into InDesign (cs4) when completed. 2. The image has interior space betwen the line work/image itself that I would like to contain transparency.  Not sure if I am being clear here. The issue lies in when I actually drop the image into InDesign.  While the image appears to already have a transparent background, once it is dropped into InDesign, the image then assumes an opaque/white background.

  • Adding borders and edge effects to images

    I want to create some nice borders and edge effects for some images in PS. I don't want to take the time to experiment and do it manually.  I thought I had some Actions or that there was a feature native in PS that did this, but I can't seem to find it.  I'm using CS4 on Mac 10.5.8.
    Can anyone point me to some good Actions that give some nice border effects, or recommend a favorite plugin that has a lot of different options and flexibility?
    Thanks,  Lou

    Well that's all PS itself has to offer. Further than that, do what Buko said.
    Or look at Adobe Exchange.

  • AI CS6, ScriptUI, and images with transparency

    ESTK for AI CS6 is already known to create problems (e.g. http://forums.adobe.com/message/4711851).
    It’s possible that, in dialogs created with ScriptUI, AI CS6 also fails to display images with transparency properly. On my (Mac) system at least, such images appear with an aliased edge.
    If this is true it’s doubly unfortunate, since with CS6 Adobe chose to make AI’s background interface colour adjustable—which makes interface images with transparency something of a requirement.
    One workaround, which sadly negates the whole business of variable interface background colour, is to create dialog images with a background colour instead of transparency, and then force the dialog to display with the same background colour. For this technique we’re indebted again to Peter Kahrel’s invaluable ScriptUI for Dummies (www.kahrel.plus.com/indesign/scriptui.html). Page 69 of that publication shows how to do this—for example:
    win.graphics.backgroundColor = win.graphics.newBrush(win.graphics.BrushType.SOLID_COLOR,[0.5,0.5,0.75]);
    The process is, to say the least, quirky: and, as Peter mentions, poorly documented by Adobe. But I hope it may be helpful to others trying to use ScriptUI.
    The more I see of AI CS6 the more I like CS4! Can anyone tell me if I’m likely to miss any features or run into problems if I develop scripts for CS6 using ESTK for CS4?

    Yes this is where things can quickly become very complex too… I for the most part script for a particular version… Im almost certain scriptUI arrived with CS3 so you will need to make checks for this… There are a couple of differences between how they look from one OS to another… Oh yes a test my script cloud… just floated past the window or was it a flying pig hard to tell… I have long thought purchasing a version of an app should qualify you access to previous versions but thats never going to happen… You may get this on some expensive developer program but not for part time scripters…
    BTW if you have an old G5 knocking about… Then you can now get CS2 FOC great thats the one I've got…

  • Logo image distored when creating a transparent gif and png

    Hi all,
    Creating a logo for my department with little or no graphic design exp.  I'm experiencing issues when saving the file as a transparent GIF or PNG.  The GIF removes the 300 dpi setting that the print shop needs to turn this into a poster and the PNG is creating some jagged edges around my logo.  The image is 2000 pixels and about 7 in. by 7 in.
    Any help would be appreciated.  I can email the PSD to anyone if they can help.  Here is the PNG:
    And here is the GIF:

    There was no abuse, just an observation. Would an abusive person be trying to help you? Is there a crime in suggesting that one prepare themselves with more experience before taking on a project like this?
    Aside from low resolution, there were a few other signs that you might be in over your head with a logo design. Logos are typically created in a vector program (not Photoshop).
    I cannot imagine a reputable print shop asking you for a PNG or GIF file when there are so many better formats.

  • Alpha transparency borders on dynamically loaded images for use with textures

    Hi there folks. Well, I have been beating my head over this
    and am hoping one of you can help me out.
    Essentially I have 16bit images that are loaded into my
    shockwave application at run-time. These images are user defined
    which means that I will not know their size ahead of time. Once the
    images are loaded I then create textures and apply them to various
    shaders. Ok, all of this works just fine. What I need to do though
    is create an alpha transparent border around the images, so when I
    apply them to their surfaces I only see the image and nothing
    around it. I am doing this because these images will only appear at
    specific parts on a surface, textureRepeat will be false, and many
    models will be stacked in the same exact location using the same
    model resource. I have everything working, but I cannot figure out
    the alpha part for the life of me. Also, when I test the alpha
    based image by itself it works just fine. It is not until I try and
    combine the 16bit (converted to 32bit at run-time) image that I run
    into problems.
    I have tried:
    - Creating a 32bit alpha image in Fireworks with a
    transparent border and a black rect for the inside. I then copy the
    dynamic image over the alpha image (only after going from 16bit to
    32bit in imaging Lingo) and leave a little room at the edges for
    the transparency. Well, I get a crazy amount of streaks here even
    when I try to up the trans border by around 24 pixels on each side.
    - Using another similiar alpha based image as a mask with
    copyPixels and extractAlpha/setAlpha like this... (code is a little
    rough here)
    newImage = new(#bitmap)
    newImage.name = "place_Test"
    newImage.image = member("place").image
    newAlpha = new(#bitmap)
    newAlpha.name = "AHH"
    newAlpha.image = image(newImage.image.width + 24,
    newImage.image.height + 24, 32)
    newAlpha.image.useAlpha = true
    newAlpha.image.copyPixels(member("vase").image,
    newAlpha.image.rect, member("vase").image.rect)
    newAlphaInfo = newAlpha.image.extractAlpha()
    newAlpha.image.useAlpha = false
    --reverse dark to light
    iAlphaReverse = image(newAlpha.image.width,
    newAlpha.image.height, 8, #grayscale)
    iAlphaReverse.fill(iAlphaReverse.rect, rgb(0,0,0))
    iAlphaReverse.copyPixels(newAlphaInfo, iAlphaReverse.rect,
    newAlphaInfo.rect, [#ink : #reverse])
    --newAlphaInfo.copyPixels(iAlphaReverse, newAlphaInfo.rect,
    iAlphaReverse.rect, [#ink:#subtractpin])
    newAlphaMask = iAlphaReverse.createMask()
    rescaleAbs(newImage, newImage.image.width,
    newImage.image.height, "place_Test", 32)
    destImage = member("place_Test").image.duplicate()
    destImage.fill(destImage.rect, rgb(0,0,0))
    newAlpha.image.useAlpha = false
    destImage.copyPixels(newImage.image, newImage.image.rect,
    newImage.image.rect, [#maskImage:newAlphaMask, #ink:#add])
    destImage.setAlpha(iAlphaReverse)
    destImage.useAlpha = true
    member("place_Test").image = destImage
    I apologize for the messy code. I have cut and pasted from
    all over the place and am getting confused. In any case, I think I
    am making this harder then it needs to be and hope someone can
    help.
    Thank you in advance,
    Dave

    Hi, you can try using other texture layer as mask on the same
    shader. As usually you create the texture from a dynamic loaded
    image, then apply this texture to the shader on the texture list
    index 1 (textureList[1]). Next part does the job, create other
    texture from a 32 bits image with the alpha information and fill
    all pixels with white color, this is very important because the
    second texture layer will be multiply with the first texture layer.
    This texture set its render format to rgba8888. Apply the mask
    texture to the same shader at texture list index 2, verify that the
    blendFunctionList index 2 is #multiply.
    I include the code of a project that use this masking
    approach:
    property pMember
    property pEarthSphere
    property pNightSphere
    property pLastTransform
    on beginSprite me
    pMember = sprite(me.spriteNum).member
    me.setupWorld()
    end
    on setupWorld(me)
    pMember.resetWorld()
    repeat with i = pMember.light.count down to 1
    pMember.deletelight(i)
    end repeat
    vEarthModelResource = pMember.newModelResource("EARTH MODEL
    RESOURCE", #sphere)
    vEarthModelResource.radius = 50.000
    vEarthModelResource.resolution = 20
    vEarthTexture = pMember.newTexture("EARTH TEXTURE",
    #fromCastMember, member(3,1))
    vEarthShader = pMember.newShader("EARTH SHADER", #standard)
    vEarthShader.emissive = color(255,255,255)
    vEarthShader.flat = TRUE
    vEarthShader.transparent = FALSE

    vMaskNightTexture = pMember.newTexture("MASK NIGHT TEXTURE",

    vNightModelResource)

    pNightSphere.parent = pEarthSphere
    end
    on exitFrame(me)

    - While the Presets can scale the watermark, you will get better results if you create individual watermarks (files with transparency) for each size you often use, and turn off scaling.  I recommend 800, 1200, and 2000 px.  When you create the Preset, select the watermark that is closest in size to the dimension of the file being created.  (Put the watermark size in the file name, e.g. "My Professional Watermark 2013 1200wide.tif".  Put all your watermark files in one Finder folder.)
    Note that Aperture is a conduit for producing published pictures, and that there are few good reasons to save your published picture files (the genius of Aperture is that the data needed to create shareable image-format files from you digital camera files is usually less than half as much as the file itself).  I add watermarks when I export.  I do not re-import files created by "exporting".  (The quotes are because exporting a Version from Aperture is not, literally, an export.  "Export" means "make me an image-format file using these specs".  That file does not exist until you make it by "exporting".)

  • How do i add images in the header and footer to a PDF using iText

    Hi ,
    I want to add images to the header and footer of every page while i am genrating a pdf i have created a separate class called EndPage which i am instanceiating its default constructor in another class 's button action method.
    The above code genrates a PDF for me however it genrates a file with file size zero bytes and does not open it following is my sample code
    //**********Any Help would be appreciated
    Thank You
    public class My_Class
    public String pdf_action()
    EndPage ep=new EndPage();
    return null;
    }//My_class Ends
    class EndPage extends PdfPageEventHelper
    * Demonstrates the use of PageEvents.
    * @param args no arguments needed
    public EndPage()
    try {
    com.lowagie.text.Document document = new Document(PageSize.A4, 50, 50, 70, 70);
    PdfWriter writer = PdfWriter.getInstance(document, new FileOutputStream("D://proposals/endpage.pdf"));
    writer.setPageEvent(new EndPage());
    document.open();
    String text = "Lots of text. ";
    for (int k = 0; k < 10; ++k)
    text += text;
    document.add(new Paragraph(text));
    document.close();
    catch (Exception de) {
    de.printStackTrace();
    public void onEndPage(PdfWriter writer, Document document) {
    try {
    Rectangle page = document.getPageSize();
    PdfPTable head = new PdfPTable(3);
    for (int k = 1; k <= 6; ++k)
    head.addCell("head " + k);
    head.setTotalWidth(page.width() - document.leftMargin() - document.rightMargin());
    head.writeSelectedRows(0, -1, document.leftMargin(), page.height() - document.topMargin() + head.getTotalHeight(),
    writer.getDirectContent());
    PdfPTable foot = new PdfPTable(3);
    for (int k = 1; k <= 6; ++k)
    foot.addCell("foot " + k);
    foot.setTotalWidth(page.width() - document.leftMargin() - document.rightMargin());
    foot.writeSelectedRows(0, -1, document.leftMargin(), document.bottomMargin(),
    writer.getDirectContent());

    throw new ExceptionConverter(e);
    }

    Hi,
    Thanks for the quick response.
    The problem is that when I keep the logo as a watermark, the pdf is not adjusting itself to include the logo as header.
    But if I add a header text via Tools -> Headers and Footers, the pdf is adjusting itself so that the header text is at the beginning , not overlapping with the contents of pdf.
    But while using logo as watermark, some times overlapping of the pdf contents and logo is happening.
    Is there any way to add a logo in the Header and Footer via the option in Tools -> Headers and Footers
    Thanks,
    Vidhya

  • How do I save an image (logo) transparent so that it will appear transparent on any color background such as a gradient or black?

    How do I save an image (logo) transparent so that it will appear transparent on any color background such as a gradient or black?
    I save image as "transparent" at File > New... but when I place on a gradient background it keeps appearing white. I'm trying to save transparent to be effective on any color such as a gradient or black.  How do I truly save as transparent?

    Put the logo on its own layer set the layer fill to 0 and add a layer style to the logo layer.  Here I duped one change fill to 0 added style.

  • Borders and shading, Move all objects at once!

    *Hi all, hope every1's good!! I hope someone can help me with this problem!, a friend has asked me to do a thank you card for him cos his hosting a dinner party for his work colleagues, now i know that pages 08 can do this because i've checked and started designing the card but i got stuck, here's the problem(s):*
    *1. I wanna know how to move all the images or shapes all together (e.g i drew a rounded rectangle shape inside another rounded rectangle and added text to it!) i'd like to move it all at once!*
    *2. If you noticed when ever you use word and wanted the documents to have borders and shades, they are all there but i cant seem to find this feature in pages 08 (is this feature present?). what I'm trying to do is change or add how the borders and shades look.*
    *Thanks for the help.*

    Select the different objects then
    Arrange > Group
    *2. If you noticed when ever you use word and wanted the documents to have borders and shades, they are all there but i cant seem to find this feature in pages 08 (is this feature present?). what I'm trying to do is change or add how the borders and shades look.*
    Insert a rectangular shape.
    Go to Inspector > Graphic
    define the fill color
    Stroke > Picure Frame
    adjust the width and the color
    Arrange > Send object to the background
    From time to time, it's useful to look in the Help or in the PDF Users Guide.
    What I responded is described with more details in these tools which are also for you

  • Printing Images with Transparent Background

    Sorry if this question has already been asked, but I couldn't find anything similar to it in a search through the archives.
    I have a couple of images with transparent backgrounds in a document, much like the shells and the blue flowers in the "Classic Brochure" template in Pages 2.0.1. These images show up perfect on the screen, and when printed as .pdf files, but when I print to either an hp color laserjet 4600 or an hp laserjet 1320, the images show up with a clear box around them; the colors under the box (where it should be transparent) are faded and slightly blurred. This happens both with my document, and the unaltered "Classic Brochure" template. I've tried moving various objects backwards and forwards, but it doen't seem to have any effect. It even happens with one of the text boxes I have in the document.
    Another odd thing is that the printed "box" isn't the same size as the box that appears when you click on the object in the document. It's a bit bigger. I've seen other posts about problems with hp printers, but I'm not sure it's related. Any insight would be appreciated.

  • Framing image with transparent background png frame

    hi,
    i'm trying to find a way to frame images with transparent background png frames...
    what i'm doing now is
    1-drawing my image on a panel
    2-creating a 2nd image using the frame's filename, stretching this 'frame-image' to a size slighlty larger than that of my main image and drawing the 'frame-image'
    the problems with this method are:
    1-depending on the width of the frame, the frame sometimes hides parts of the image (thick frame), and sometimes there is a gap between the frame and the image (thin frame).
    2-if the image file containing the frame is larger than the frame (Ex: The image is 300x300, the frame is centered in this image and is 200x200; as opposed to the image is 200x200 and the frame takes up all the space), when i position the 'frame-image' near the top left corner of the image i want to frame, the frame appears at the wrong place (shifted down and to the right). This is due to the fact that i'm placing the top corner of the created 'frame-image' and not the frame, who is not in the top corner of my 'frame-image'.
    Is there a way to do what i'm trying to do???
    My ideas (which i don't know how to achieve are)
    1-To 'analyse' my transparent background png file and
         1-only keep the frame,
         2-calculate the frame's thickness
    OR
    2-Let java do the analyzing for me and tell it to frame my image with the frame in the png file
    please feel free to ask for more explanations if my description/question is confusing,
    thanks.

    Have you looked into the Border interface? If what you really want to do
    is put a custom border on a component, you may be able to do it this way.
    Anyway, here is some code that stacks and centres 2 images. It's not hard to do.
    import java.awt.*;
    import java.awt.image.*;
    import java.io.*;
    import java.net.*;
    import javax.imageio.*;
    import javax.swing.*;
    public class Example extends JComponent {
        private BufferedImage backgroundImage;
        private BufferedImage foregroundImage;
        public Example(BufferedImage backgroundImage, BufferedImage foregroundImage) {
            this.backgroundImage = backgroundImage;
            this.foregroundImage = foregroundImage;
        public Dimension getPreferredSize() {
            int w = backgroundImage.getWidth();
            int h = backgroundImage.getHeight();
            return new Dimension(w, h); //assuming this is bigger
        protected void paintComponent(Graphics g) {
            super.paintComponent(g);
            int w = getWidth();
            int h = getHeight();
            //paint both, centred
            int x0 = (w-backgroundImage.getWidth())/2, y0 = (h-backgroundImage.getHeight())/2;
            g.drawImage(backgroundImage, x0, y0, null);
            int x1 = (w-foregroundImage.getWidth())/2, y1 = (h-foregroundImage.getHeight())/2;
            g.drawImage(foregroundImage, x1, y1, null);
        public static void main(String[] args) throws IOException {
            URL url1 = new URL("http://weblogs.java.net/jag/Image54-large.jpeg");
            URL url2 = new URL("http://weblogs.java.net/jag/DukeSaltimbanqueSmall.jpeg");
            JComponent comp = new Example(ImageIO.read(url1), ImageIO.read(url2));
            final JFrame f = new JFrame();
            f.setDefaultCloseOperation(JFrame.EXIT_ON_CLOSE);
            f.getContentPane().add(comp);
            f.pack();
            SwingUtilities.invokeLater(new Runnable(){
                public void run() {
                    f.setLocationRelativeTo(null);
                    f.setVisible(true);
    }
