WCCP flows during Lead WAE Failure

We are actually planning a large scale WAAS solution. We found many descriptions how  the WCCP flows is protected in redundant design against a WAE failure. We learnt that the Lead WAE is necessary to redirect the WCCP flow to the remaining WAEs. Our question is what will happen when the Lead WAE fails. How will the WAE farm recover the WCCP flows.

Hi Peter,
The lead WAE is responsible for instructing all of the WCCP-enabled routers/switches how traffic should be distributed across the cluster of WAE devices.  It does this by communictaing an assignment table of buckets/masks.  The lead WAE does not actually handle the flows, they are redirected directly from the router/switch to the target WAE.
In the event that the lead WAE fails, another WAE in the service group takes over the lead role and updates the assignment for all of the routers/switches.

Zach

  • ODI11g Integration Step:  Insert flow into I$ Table failure: TNS: error

The project/interfaces have been working successfully for quite sometime. After a server reboot, they are all failing on the Integration step
Insert flow into I$ Table failure with:
ODI-1228: Task xxxxx(Integration) fails on the target ORACLE connection xxxxxx.
Caused By: java.sql.SQLException: ORA-12154: TNS:could not resolve the connect identifier specified
I have verified the topology and the dblink/Data Server is what resides in the tnsnames.ora file (which also has not changed).
Any ideas what else to look at, all topology connection tests are successful.
    Thank you.

All connections were testing successfull. The problem ended up being with one of the database links, after the server reboot there were multiple tnsnames and the environment was not pointing to the correct one. After removing all tnsnames except for the correct, the problem was fixed.
    Thank you for your response.

  • Stop document flow from Lead to Activities

    Hi gurus,
Got a very simple question. I have created a bunch of custom activities. Now all of them should be accessible to Opportunity but only some of them should be accessible from the Lead.
At this point all these activities are available (document data flows from Lead to all Activties) to the Lead. When a user creats a Lead and tries to create a follow-up activity from here, he should not view certain Acitvities (only the Opportunity should be able to access them). I haven't done anything (copy control etc) specific for this to happen, hence I do not know how to stop this happening
    Thanks,
    -PR

In SAP Standard you can always create any type of activity as a follow-up transaction from any transaction. The copy control customizing only is valid for non-activities. So if you want to exclude some activities from being created as a follow-up transaction in certain szenarios you need to modify the standard I am afraid.

  • Automatic derivation of service tax (derived flow) flow during the posting of charges through FWBS in Security Module.

    Hi
Case: Automatic derivation of service tax (derived flow) flow during the posting of charges through FWBS in Security Module.
I am trying  to post the charges using Manual Posting FWBS but system not generating (automatically)  derived flow for the service tax flow on charges.
I have done below mentioned  steps for configuration:
Define the derivation procedure and Rules.
Assign the update type to the function of security account management.- Define update type fo manual posting.
    Kindly advise.
    Regards

    Hi,
The definition of "Define Derivation Procedures and Rules" for derived flows are only taken into account during transaction management, deriving one flow type from origin flow type. This customizing does not have effect for FWBS. You may check the below customizing:
    1) Transaction Manager > Securities > Master Data > Product Types > Define Company Code-Dependent Settings for the Product Type: mark the indicator "Generate taxes" in Settings for tax generation.
    2) Transaction Manager > Securities > Position Management  > Securities Account Management > Define Tax Rates.
Further you may consider the implementation of BAdI TPM_TAX_CALCULATION (please see note 1159408) to calculate the tax depending on your requirements. Note: the above BAdI is called only in the case the required settings are done in 'Define Tax Rates' in the Customizing.
    Best regards,
    Jasmine

  • A UPS model that works with Mac Native software to do a graceful shutdown and automatic restart during a power failure.

I've tried 3 UPS's (2 APC and one TripLite) that state they are OSX compatible, however, they do not fully respond to the native osx setting in (system Preferences/ Energy Saver/ UPS/Start up automatically after a power failure). This is what happens:
During a power outage, the OS does a graceful shutdown, but does not reboot when power is restored.
Apparently, the UPS is not notified to turn off during the shut down process. The power (on-Off-On) cycle is required by the mac to restart.
Trip lite tech support says they have software that works with Windows and linux to do this, but not mac.
I've tried two older APC UPS's, One Smart UPS1500 and a Back-UPS 1500 with the same result on two different servers and one iMac.
At this point I'm looking for a make and model of a UPS that does work. If anyone can verify a make and model that actually does this, I'd greatly appreciate it.
Its a simple test, just pull the plug on your UPS, wait for the system to shut down, and then plug the UPS back in. The system should reboot.

Many of the CyberPower UPS units are compatible. Checkout the home solutions on this page: http://www.cyberpowersystems.com/products/ups-systems.html

  • SD Document flow with Leading zeros

    Hi All,
We have issue with docuemnt flow, when we click document flow sales order or delivery or billing its showing leading zeros, My client  don't want any leading zeros in docuemnt flow.
    For example -
    if i click on document flow its showing - 00500005 (SO ) 008000674 -Delivery - - Billing - 0090000012,
Can any other guide us what could be a issue with leading zeros or any config setting is missing.
    Regards
    Nishad

    dear friend,
it depends on how do you set up the number ranges
for example, run VN01 and look how your sales orders are numbered.
    regards,
p.s. create a new number range without leading zeroes and test it
but i suggest you will not change the current settings , it is 'too late' , so tell your client it is standard

    Hello All,
    Setup: Multi node configuration

  • Failed to restart the CSSD during the interconnect failure

    Hi all,
I run a small ATP on my LAB where i have
    - 2x nodes RAC 11.2.0.2 & ASM (my OCR & Voting files are stored on ASM)
    - 1 public interface <> eth0
    - 1 private interface <> eth1
    - 1 SCAN IP defined in the /etc/hosts file (i'm not using DNS or GNS)
The test i run was to shutdown the private interface (eth1) on node 1 and i saw that
    1) all cluster services and cluster daemons on node 2 were killed and node 2 was evicted from the cluster by node 1
    2) all new connections were redirected to the survived node
    3) Oracle OHASD daemon was restarted on node 2 and tried to start the cluster services without success because private network between cluster nodes was down
Up to here everything worked as expected but once i turn on eth1 it took ~ 9 minutes for the CSSD to startup and bring all the components up & running.

    Hi,
there is an internal timer for the clusterware ressources regarding restarting the ressources.
In case of a node eviction or clusterstack reboot the clusterware tries to startup again.
If the issue still persists, CRS will wait for some time to start the stack again. This "restart" try is based on a timer, which is set to 600 seconds (note this is not the ORA_CHECK_TIMEOUT) but the STARTUP_TIMEOUT.
Since a missing interconnect does have some implications (not only on the network but on the whole stack) it is expected, that the cluster does not start so fast automatically (because it still has the first start running.
There is even another "issue" connected to this - Oracle will only try several times (FAILURE_COUNT/FAILURE_THRESHOLD) to restart ressources. If he cannot restart cssd/crsd for several times, OCW will not try to startup automatically, but expects the administrator to solve the error and then startup again.
But actually this does make sense:
We have to give some time for an error to be resolved, before we start automatically. It does not matter if the restart of the node is delayed by this, because
=> If the error is fixed automatically, it will normally be fixed after a cluster/node reboot and hence cluster will come up
=> If the error is not fixed automatically, but manually, it can be expected that the administrator tells clusterware the issue is resolved. He does that by simply starting the stack (crsctl start crs)
=> If the error is fixed automaticall, but fixing took a while (lets say 15 minutes), it does not really matter if clusterware needs 10 more minutes to come up.
So what you see is expected, and wanted.
It would cost way too much to monitor all ressources regarding cluster problems and trigger a startup....

  • Best practice with WCCP flows for WAAS

    Hi,
I have a WAAS SRE 910 module in a 2911 router that intercepts packets from this router with WCCP.
All packets are received by external interface (gi 2/0, connected to a switch with port configured in WCCP vlan), and are sent back to the router via internal interface (gi 1/0 directly connected to the router) :
    WAAS# sh interface gi 1/0
    Internet Address                    : 10.0.1.1
    Netmask                             : 255.255.255.0
    Admin State                         : Up
    Operation State                     : Running
Maximum Transfer Unit Size          : 1500
    Input Errors                        : 0
    Input Packets Dropped               : 0
    Packets Received                    : 20631
    Output Errors                       : 0
    Output Packets Dropped              : 0
    Load Interval                       : 30
    Input Throughput                    : 239 bits/sec, 0 packets/sec
    Output Throughput                   : 3270892 bits/sec, 592 packets/sec
    Packets Sent                        : 110062
    Auto-negotiation                    : On
    Full Duplex                         : Yes
    Speed                               : 1000 Mbps
    WAAS# sh interface gi 2/0
    Internet Address                    : 10.0.2.1
    Netmask                             : 255.255.255.0
    Admin State                         : Up
    Operation State                     : Running
Maximum Transfer Unit Size          : 1500
    Input Errors                        : 0
    Input Packets Dropped               : 0
    Packets Received                    : 86558
    Output Errors                       : 0
    Output Packets Dropped              : 0
    Load Interval                       : 30
    Input Throughput                    : 2519130 bits/sec, 579 packets/sec
    Output Throughput                   : 3431 bits/sec, 2 packets/sec
    Packets Sent                        : 1580
    Auto-negotiation                    : On
    Full Duplex                         : Yes
    Speed                               : 100 Mbps
The default route configured in WAAS module is 0.0.0.0/0 to 10.0.1.254 (router interface).
Would it be better that packets leave WAAS module by the external interface (in place of the internal interface) ?
Is there a best practice recommended by Cisco on this ?
    Thanks.
    Stéphane

    Hi Stephane,
We usually advise the following in such scenario with an internal module:
"ip wccp 61 redirect in" the LAN interface.
"ip wccp 61 redirect in" on the WAN one.
"ip wccp redirect exclude in" on the internal interface between the WAAS and the router.
That way, we are sure that no loops are created because of the WCCP redirection.

  • No Cover Flow during music playback

I'm a newbie using iOS 3.1.3 on a 1st gen iTouch. When playing music in portrait mode, is there a way for me to lock the view in that orientation and stop iOS from switching to Cover Flow which is undesired? Is there a lock/unlock setting somewhere?

There is in ios 4. If you're still using a first gen touch with ios 3 you don't have any option to lock the orientation.

  • Which way does information flow during a sync? From the phone to the computer or vice versa?

Does it flow both ways or only one way?  If one way, which is it?  How do I set it to only go from my computer to the phone and not vice versa?

It goes both ways depending on what's needed.  What do you want to do?

  • Unexpected Call Failures during physical network failure

    Our layout:
We have a private network for Mediation Server<->PSTN Gateway traffic.  (This is a legacy that we are moving away from.)
We have a multi-node FE Pool.  The FE Pool has redundant "corp" NICs using Windows Teaming (~failover) that serves clients and our SIP trunk, but a single NIC to the private network for the PSTN Gateway traffic.
The Mediation Seervice is listening on both "corp" and "pstn" NICs.
    What happened:
The PSTN network cable for ONE of the mediation servers ("LyncFE1") was cut inadvertently.
    The experience:
Approximately 5 minutes after the cable was cut, "LyncFE1" recognized all gateways were offline. (expected)
Users did not lose connectivity to the server, as the "corp" NICs were unaffected. (expected)
Inbound calls routed around the failure, as the PSTN gateways are configured to do. (expected)
Outbound calls for an indeterminate group of people would fail consistently with 503 errors and the logs clearly indicated no routes available.  These users were not all hosted on LyncFE1 (per a get-csuserpoolinfo of some of the affected users).
     (NOT expected)
I expected that the Mediation Service on "LyncFE1" would recognize that it had no routes, that other servers (let's say "LyncFE2") did have available routes, and that it would then route outbound calls to the other servers via the "corp"
    NIC.
    Thoughts?

    Hi,
As the available route is associated with Lync client policy. So If you want to use the other route, you need to associate these users client policy with those route using Lync Server Control Panel or Lync Server Management Shell.
