WCF Samples

I'm looking to connect to CRM On Demand using stateless web services transactions, however I'm having a hard time finding the right binding configuration for WCF (.Net 3.5). As per documentation, WS-I login mechanism must be used (UsernameToken).
I'll really appreciate any samples or additional documentation anyone could provide.

For reasons I don't understand, LINQPad makes it easy to add System.Text.RegularExpressions.dll while VS makes it very difficult. On my machine, it is indeed a separate DDL in
C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework\V4.0.30319\System.Text.RegularExpressions.dll
Why you have to use the browse button in VS on the "Add Reference" menu entry and know that directory name is a mystery to me. It sure makes it difficult!
Then I got an error message and had to add System.dll too. I certainly though that that would be added by default. What a surprise (and a pain)!
Anyway, it is working now. Thanks for the help.

    Hi,
    I have a WCF application to pull calendar exception detail from a Project Server instance 2013. As per msdn links shared below I have added two dlls Microsoft.Office.Project.Server.Library , Microsoft.Office.Project.Server.Events.Receivers as well as ProjectserverServices.dll

    Flex 4 finds the service and the correct methods.
    WHEN IT TEST IT OUT using the "TEST OPERATION" panel..it fails with a very ugly error.

  • SDK Samples in HIS 2013

    After installing Host Integration Server 2013, I do not see any of the SDK Sample directories on the file system.
    Did I miss something in the install or are these samples not part of the install media anymore???
    Thanks,
    Gary Clanton

    HIS 2013 is available as a supplemental license to BizTalk 2013. This means that you have to license one of the BizTalk Server 2013 Editions to get a license for HIS 2013. You don't need to install and use BizTalk Server in order to use HIS. You only need
    to install BizTalk Server if you need to use one of the BizTalk Adapters that is included with HIS.
    You didn't indicate what type of applications that you will be communicating with on the IBM mainframe. If you will be communicating with CICS or IMS transactions on the mainframe, then you'd likely want to take a look at the Transaction Integrator (TI)
    feature in HIS 2013. You can use TI with a WCF service. See
    http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dn150066(v=bts.80).aspx#application for an overview of the Application Integration feature of HIS 2013. You might also want to look through the following topic:
    http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dn149782(v=bts.80).aspx
    The HIS 2013 SDK does include sample applications. When the SDK is installed, it gets installed to the following folder:
    C:\Program Files\Microsoft Host Integration Server 2013 SDK v1.0
    Under this folder, you will see the following folders:
    - ApplicationIntegration
    - BizTalkAdapters
    - DataIntegration
    - MessageIntegration
    - NetworkIntegration
    - SessionIntegration
    Under each of these folders are samples specific to those features. For example, under ApplicationIntegration there are two additional folders: HostInitiated and WindowsInitiated. The WindowsInitiated folder includes samples for Transaction Integrator where
    TI initiates transactions by calling application on the IBM host system. Under WindowsInitiated, you will find a WcfService folder that has a TI WCF sample application. You'd also want to look at the ApplicationIntegrationStarterGuide sample because it describes
    many of the new TI features in HIS 2013.
    If TI doesn't fit the needs, then you need to look at the other HIS features to see what might work for the IBM integration scenario that you are working on.
    You might also want to look at
    http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/biztalk/hh441721 as this site has many links to HIS specific resources.
    Thanks...

    Hi Grga90,
    As far as I known, the sample from this page(https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ff406125.aspx) is used for the WCF 3.5 and it seems that the samples are not available for us to download
    now, if you want to learn WCF, you can try to start from here:

  • Biztalk WCF-SQL polling sample using a FOR XML Path

    I've been searching in the web for a sample that uses FOR XML "PATH" to poll the SQL database . The result returned from my query is a parent child data and FOR XML PATH is the best choice to structure it in that way . I guess I'm missing something while
    generating the schemas from this stored procedure.
    I guess Dan Rosanova has touched on this concept (http://social.technet.microsoft.com/wiki/contents/articles/3480.aspx)
    , but its using XML Auto. Again there is no sample available so makes things a bit difficult.
    Can someone point to a sample walkthrough , generating the schemas and then later using it in the application.
    Thanks
    Anthstone

    I used XMLPolling and it worked for me. you can go for XMLPolling. Steps to be followed:
    1) Create the SP which will have the SELECT query similar to below:
    ;WITH XMLNAMESPACES (default 'http://yourcustomnamespace')
     Select * from Employee FOR XML PATH('YourCustomRootNode')
    2) Create a schema out of the table using the following query
    Select * from Employee for
    xml
    auto,
    xmlschema
    3) Re-name the root name and namespace as per you mentioned in point#1 (YourCustomRootNode)
    4) Create an Envelope Schema and refer the schema from point#3. Also make a note of the root node name and namespace that we need to specify
    in the admin console.
    5) Assign the Body XPath to debatch. Refer
    this.  Deploy the solution.
    6) In the Admin console, add the Root Node Name and namespace mentioned in point#4 under "XmlStoredProcedureRoodNodeName" and "XmlStoredProcedureRoodNodeNamespace"
    There you go. I did this for debatching. You can do for nomarl batch message instead of Envelope create a normal document schema.
    Thanks

  • How can I get this (non-BizTalk) WCF customBinding configuration into BizTalk? (see sample in post)

    I have a BizTalk app up and running that is currently using the WCF-BasicHttp Adapter. It's currently using only Message security using the UserName credential type and that is all working fine.
    Things have since changed, we are now required to accept Client Certificates at the Transport (IIS) level for authorization of the service and still continue to use Message security for authentication into the service.
    After much pain and searching, I was able to get this to work in a NON-BizTalk WCF environment basing my config of bits of this
    this post and ended up with the following customBinding configuration:
          <customBinding>
            <binding name="CustomCDARequestEndpointBinding">
              <textMessageEncoding messageVersion="Soap11" />
              <security authenticationMode="UserNameOverTransport" />
              <httpsTransport requireClientCertificate="true" />
            </binding>
          </customBinding>
    This resulted in a WCF client customBinding as such:
    <customBinding>
    <binding name="CDARequestEndpoint">
    <security defaultAlgorithmSuite="Default" authenticationMode="UserNameOverTransport"
    requireDerivedKeys="true" includeTimestamp="true" messageSecurityVersion="WSSecurity11WSTrustFebruary2005WSSecureConversationFebruary2005WSSecurityPolicy11BasicSecurityProfile10">
    <localClientSettings detectReplays="false" />
    <localServiceSettings detectReplays="false" />
    </security>
    <textMessageEncoding messageVersion="Soap11" />
    <httpsTransport requireClientCertificate="true" />
    </binding>
    </customBinding>
    </bindings>
    <behaviors>
    <endpointBehaviors>
    <behavior name="ohBehave">
    <clientCredentials useIdentityConfiguration="false">
    <clientCertificate findValue="6D0DBF387484B25A16D0E3E53DBB178A366DA954" storeLocation="CurrentUser"
    x509FindType="FindByThumbprint" />
    </clientCredentials>
    </behavior>
    </endpointBehaviors>
    </behaviors>
    This works perfectly fine in a NON-BizTalk environment and it seems to be the critical piece of configuration is the
    <httpsTransport requireClientCertificate="true" />
    element.
    The problem is, no matter what I try, I cannot find a similar setting in the BizTalk WCF-Custom/customBinding configuration anywhere.
    Does anyone know what my options are here?
    Can I edit the web.config directly?
    Is there another extension I can add to achieve the same effect in the BizTalk GUI?
    Can I code something in the orchestration to manually setup this receive location the why I'm proposing?
    I'm hoping someone out there knows more about this.

    Because the WCF-BasicHttp Adapter only surfaces certain properties, you can't use it for your purpose.
    Instead:
    Start with the WCF-Custom Adapter
    BindingType = customBinding
    Delete httpTransport
    Add httpsTransport (you will then see requireClientCertificate)
    Add the clientCredentials Behavior and set your options and credentials in the Credentials tab.

  • No transport error while consuming WCF service in a REST way

    Hi,
    Here is a small article on when we usually face No Transport error and how to get rid of it.
    I recently worked on a sample application using “app for Office” (New in Visual Studio 11.0)
    What is “app for Office”?
    An app for Office is basically a webpage that is hosted inside an Office client application. You can use apps to extend the functionality of a document, email message, meeting request, or appointment. Apps
    can run in multiple environments and clients, including rich Office desktop clients, Office Web Apps, mobile browsers, and also on-premises and in the cloud.
    What can an app for Office do?
    An app for Office can do pretty much anything a webpage can do inside the browser, such as the following:
    Provide an interactive UI and custom logic through      JavaScript. (Develop UI using HTML and JavaScript)
    Use JavaScript frameworks such as jQuery.
    Connect to REST endpoints and web services via      HTTP and AJAX.
    Run server-side code or logic, if the page is      implemented using a server-side scripting language such as ASP or PHP.
    As “app for Office” doesn’t have an option to write server side scripting (unlike code behind or in-line coding feature in ASP.NET/MVC) we will have to go for web service or WCF service and consume the service
    using any JavaScript framework like Jquery.
    I wrote a simple WCF service to hook up with server side code and consumed the service using Jquery as follows
    $(document).ready(function () {
    $.ajax({
    type: "GET",
    url: "http://localhost/MyService.svc/rh/data?id=" + $('#sampleType').val(),
    processData: false,
    contentType: "application/json; charset=utf-8",
    dataType: "json",
    crossDomain: true,
    success: function (data) {
    alert(data)
    error: function (xhr, status, error) {
    alert(error);
    I encountered an error saying “No Transport” when I executed the client application.
     I did some investigation on this and found out the root cause that cross-domain request was disabled. But I was really not sure whether it was at my WCF service end or “app for Office” client end. I added
    Client Access policy and Cross-domain-policy xml files to WCF service in order to enable cross-domain request
    so that service will accept any type requests sent form different domains.
    Client Access policy
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8" ?>
    <access-policy>
    <cross-domain-access>
    <policy>
    <allow-from http-request-headers="*">
    <domain uri="*"/>
    </allow-from>
    <grant-to>
    <resource include-subpaths="true" path="/"/>
    </grant-to>
    </policy>
    </cross-domain-access>
    </access-policy>
    Cross-domain-policy
    <?xml version="1.0"?>
    <!DOCTYPE cross-domain-policy SYSTEM "http://www.macromedia.com/xml/dtds/cross-domain-policy.dtd">
    <cross-domain-policy>
    <allow-http-request-headers-from domain="*" headers="*"/>
    </cross-domain-policy>
    Both the policies should be in different XML files
    But this didn’t solve my problem. After a little bit more investigation I found exactly where and how to enable-cross domain requests.
    Solution
    We need to enable cross-domain requests in environments that do not support cross-domain requests.
    “Cors is equal to true if a browser can create an XMLHttpRequest object and if thatXMLHttpRequest
    object has a withCredentials property. To enable cross-domain requests in environments that do not support cors yet but do allow cross-domain XHRrequests (windows gadget, etc), set $.support.cors = true;”
    You just have to add jQuery.support.cors = true; in your client scripting and it works perfectly fine.
    [Cors- Cross-Origin Resource Sharing]
    A simple example:
    $.support.cors = true;
    $(document).ready(function () {
    $.ajax({
    type: "GET",
    url: "http://localhost/MyService.svc/rh/data?id=" + $('#sampleType').val(),
    processData: false,
    contentType: "application/json; charset=utf-8",
    dataType: "json",
    crossDomain: true,
    success: function (data) {
    alert(data)
    error: function (xhr, status, error) {
    alert(error);
    Hope this will be helpful.
    Thanks

    This is very good technich to resolve the problem. but this is not working in Google chrome or Firfox . can any one help me.

    This is my web.config for the service and I am guessing there is something wrong with it .It is working just fine on local IIS so I am not sure what exactly is causing the issue.Can someone please have a look and see if they can find something or point me to

    Dear Vikram,
    The xml you are sending is invalid it does not have SoapBody Opening tag.
    Use this below xml and try

  • CVP 7.0(2) web service element, is it compatible with WCF

    I'm looking for documentation on the Web Service element in CVP 7.0(2).
    The element specs guide for 7.0 doesn't have any thing on it only the 8.0 guide, what does this mean.
    Should I just build something Java?
    I will be using it with microsoft WCF to pass dialer-voicemail call results to our inhouse database, any advise?
    I know that it is compatible with WSDL or SOAP models but I would like to see usage samples, etc.
    thanks

    I am sure the element specs for CVP 8.0 which describe the Web Service Element are applicable to 7.x. Cisco had not updated that document since 2008 and then it was an Audium document with no Cisco changes. So I think that what you read here about the three "technologies" it can talk to is accurate.
    There is probably more discussion on the use of this element at the CVP Developer's forum.
    I've always rolled my own with Web service calls - using Apache HTTP Client as the transport and JAXB for the parsing and marshaling, but this is because I tackled this problem at CVP 3.0, when there was no Web service element. So I developed an architecture and stayed with it. But I would like to explore the built-in WS element.
    Some samples would be good.

    Geoff

  • Crystal Reports for Visual Studio and (Wcf) Web Services

    I´m evaluating Crystal reports for Visual Studio 2010. I want to read data from a (Wcf) Webservice into the predefined Reports and deliver them to the Users in an ASP.NET Application. As far as I see reading Webservices via the XML/Webservice datasource works good in the Crystal Reports 2011 Applications - But I have Problems with the Integration of the XML/Webservice datasource in the CRVS2010 Environment.
    I read your Article on sdn: http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/weblogs?blog=/pub/wlg/13732
    which helped us to enable the XML Datasource in the CRVS2010 environment on a Machine where Crystal Reports 2011 and VS2010 is installed, but this required copying DLL´s and installing the JRE.
    But I´m not able to  run the XML/Webservices datasource on a webserver in a ASP.NET Application where Crystal Reports 2011 is not installed (only the runtime) - the above post doesn´t help because  the path structure is completely different on my machine. Is there a manual, which helps me to enable the XML datasoucre and the CRVS2010 runtime ?
    I´m not sure if reading XML is the best practice for a new Project, especially after reading your article at http://forums.sdn.sap.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1952093
    I´m now evaluating ADO.NET XML as mentioned in your article, but I´m not sure if this is the right decision.
    Is there a a new version  for Visual Studio 2010 of the u2022csharp_web_adonet.zip example ?
    BTW: All examples in the Sample Code for Crystal reports for Visual Studio 2010 reference Assemblies in Version 14, which are not present on my machine. I had to find/replave 14 through 13, before they are compilable. Did I made a mistake during installation ?

    Hi Henrik,
    First of all you didn't make any mistake installing CRVS2010. It has assemblies with version 13.x
    Now as far as patches are concerned ensure that you are on SP2. You can get runtime and patch from following:
    http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/crystal-xcelsius-support?rid=/webcontent/uuid/d01fdad8-44e5-2d10-61ad-9d2d4158f3a8
    You can opt for AD.NET as one of the datasource but what is the error/ warning you get when you use Web Serive as datasource?
    You can find the latest samples created for CR2008 here
    http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/boc/index?rid=/library/uuid/d0bf8496-2a81-2b10-95ac-b1f48d5b63f5

  • How to convert sample project using EF4, ObjectContext -- to EF5 DBcontext?

    I have been working with (wrestling with) trying to create a copy a small sample project -- that is actually 3 project -- a class library containing an ADO.Net Entity Data Model (EF4) which uses ObjectContext, a WCF service application project (that
    connects to the Entity Data Model), and a WPF client which consumes the (data?).  This sample was created in VS2010.  I am trying to create a copy of this sample project in VS2012 (with EF5 and DBContext). The VS2010 sample works fine.  A .zip
    of the sample project (the sample I'm working on -- which I have removed a few additional projects that were included in the original sample project) can be downloaded
    here
    The .zip also contains the sample database (called SkiResultDB, mdf & ldf -- which I recreated the sample database from the original because the name was too long and had too many periods in the original -- but hey, everything still works in
    this sample).
    The sample project also uses
    [assembly: EdmSchemaAttribute()]
    attribute in the .edmx ...Designer.cs
      It looks like this:
    [assembly: EdmSchemaAttribute()]
    #region EDM Relationship Metadata
    [assembly: EdmRelationshipAttribute("myDataBindingModel", "FK_Competitor_Event", "Event", System.Data.Metadata.Edm.RelationshipMultiplicity.One, typeof(SkiResult.Data.Event), "Competitor", System.Data.Metadata.Edm.RelationshipMultiplicity.Many, typeof(SkiResult.Data.Competitor), true)]
    #endregion
    "myDataBindingModel" is used 25 times through the designer.cs and the .edmx xml file (I renamed that bindingModel to myDataBindingModel -- to see if it would still work, and it did).
    here is what the designer.cs looks like (at a glance)
    When I try to create an ADO.Net Entity Data Model from the template list -- I just get bare bones --   ... : DBContext and none of the stuff that the original .edmx ... Designer.cs had.  But in the EF5 entity data model I do get
    ...edmx...context.tt which contains ...context.cs, but does not contain any of the methods in the original .edmx.
    My request is if someone could explain -- just the class library part of this sample project for now -- how I could create an ADO.Net Entity Data Model like the original but in VS2012 (EF5) which does everything that the original ADO.Net Entity
    Data model does, the attribute decorators (did the author do that -- or was that generated by VS2010 or some other tool?).  Note:  I got this sample project from
    http://www.software-architects.com/devblog/2010/09/10/MVVM-Tutorial-from-Start-to-Finish
    which includes 8 (short) videos, very concise tutorial (the original sample project also included a Silverlight client and a unit test -- which I removed for simplicity  from my sample).  In the first video, the author specifically states
    that THIS tutorial is not about entity framework and thus did not explain much.  The first video just shows him selecting an ADO.Net Entity Data Model from the template collection and just clicking on the wizard.  I suspect that Entity
    framework was the "Fundamental" part of this sample project.
    Any Suggestions appreciated.
    Rich P

    Hello Rich ,
    >>My request is if someone could explain -- just the class library part of this sample project for now…
    With the release  of the Entity Framework 5, the team uses the DbContext API installed of ObjectContext and the DbContext is recommended. In your case, since the project already uses the ObjectContext, I think it might be not easy to change
    it to work with the DbContext, you could follow steps as below to make the project still work with the ObjectContext AP:
    1. It still needs you to create the ADO.Net Entity Data Model in VS2012
    2. After you created the model, delete the XXX.Context.tt and XXX.tt files, they are used to work with the DbContext.
    3. In the designer windows, right click and select the properties, change Code Generation Strategy to Default/Legacy Object Context and save the designer windows.
    It would generate the entities are similar with the one you show in the image.

  • Upload File using MDS WCF API

    I have a field of File Type in my Entity. How can I upload file using WCF API?
    I tried to create a new Entity Member and added the following attribute in the member attributes collection
    Attribute att = new Attribute();
    att.Identifier = new Identifier();
    att.Identifier.Name = "Image";
    att.Value = bytes;
    In attribute value I tried to pass the bytes array of an image, also tried Encoding.ASCII.GetString(bytes); as attribute value, but none of them works.
    With byte array i get the following exception "Conversion failed when converting the nvarchar value 'System.Byte[]' to data type int." and in case of ASCII string i get "A database error has occurred. Contact your system administrator." error.
    There is lack of documentation and samples.
    Please let me know if someone tried it out.
    Thanks!

    You need to use the EntityMemberAttributesGet operation to retrieve the contents of a file attribute. EntityMembersGet is designed to retrieve a collection of many members and therefore it would not make sense to retrieve every file for every row retrieved.
    In contrast, EntityMemberAttributesGet is designed to work with a single member and specific attributes of that member, and it was designed to retrieve the file content.

  • Using WCF Cutom Adapter to return CLOB (or similar)

    Hi all,
    I am trying to return mulitple sets of data from an Oracle table each of which exceed VARCHAR2(4000).
    I wish to do this in one call to a stored procedure as the intention is to assign the returned data to a messages body parts so that I can send them as multiple seperate attachments to an email (using the SMTP adapter).
    My oracle stored procedure and returned data types are as follows:
        PROCEDURE get_job(
            po_job_id OUT jobs.job_id%TYPE, po_endpoint OUT data.endpoint%TYPE,
            po_job_type OUT job_types.job_type_id%TYPE, po_data OUT rec_data_table);
        TYPE rec_data_table IS TABLE OF rec_data
           INDEX BY BINARY_INTEGER;
        TYPE rec_data IS RECORD (
            data CLOB
            --data VARCHAR2(4000));
    If I do restrict the data to VARCHAR2(4000), as shown commented out in the rec_data RECORD above everything works fine.
    However, to return anything larger I believe would require me to return a CLOB (even though I would probably only be returning data of a few MBytes not GBytes).
    Having tried this I get the following error:
    "The adapter "WCF-Custom" raised an error message. Details "Microsoft.ServiceModel.Channels.Common.TargetSystemException: ORA-03113: end-of-file on communication channel
    Process ID: 499868
    Session ID: 201 Serial number: 33735 ---> Oracle.DataAccess.Client.OracleException: ORA-03113: end-of-file on communication channel
    Process ID: 499868
    Session ID: 201 Serial number: 33735"
    I am using Oracle 11gR2, BizTalk 2010 and the WCF adapter with oracle bindings.
    Researching this I find conflicting information:
    "LOB types: The WCF-based Oracle DB adapter provides rich support for BLOB, CLOB and BFILE types in tables and stored procedures/functions. The adapter also exposes special operations for streaming BLOB/CLOB/BFILE data in the WCF service model
    interface." Source: http://blogs.msdn.com/b/adapters/archive/2007/10/29/biztalk-oracle-adapter-vs-wcf-based-oracle-db-adapter.aspx
    “Due to the limitation of associative arrays, PL/SQL tables or PL/SQL tables of records that contain any of the following data types are not supported in the Oracle Database adapter:
    BFILE
    BLOB
    CLOB ……….”
    Source: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd788520.aspx
    Also, this post (http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/303cc67c-5e01-4ecb-ba5c-184a1d73a7f7/biztalk-wcf-adpater-oracle-store-procedure-returning-clob?forum=biztalkediandas2) seems to indicate
    it is possible but there is no detail so not sure if it matches my requirements.
    I have also had a quick look at the
    Operate_LOB sample but not sure if this will provide me with the solution I am after as I really wanted to return an array of CLOBS (or similar).
    I have seen various other posts but nothing that definitively answers my questions and from my tests I would say that I can’t easily return largish amounts of data (a few MBs) in a single element
    from Oracle …. unless of course I am missing something.
    Can anyone give me a definitive answer as to whether I can do what I have set out above … if not I will turn my attention to a different solution.
    Many Thanks for any help/advice you can provide,
    Regards,
    Dave
