WDABAP: Close Main Window

Hi,
in general a user can close a WD-application by closing the browser. But because of the user interface design the view has to have a button where the user can also trigger the closing of the window.
I've searched in the knowledge warehouse of WDABAP but found only how to close a popup-window.
Have somebody a hint for me?
Thanks and Regards,
Marcel Schreier

Hi Marcel,
did you have a look at this, there's also a section about closing browser windows: http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw2004s/helpdata/en/fc/04a5421935c511e10000000a1550b0/frameset.htm

Now i want to close the main window without alert message.
is it possible.
if u have idea please reply.

Hi,
you close dialog windows through the handler that you obtain when opening the window. In IE - and I assume this is where your problem comes from - a security mechanism has been added to prevent scripts from closing root windows without notification. If you want to close the root window I think the work around is to call a HTM page that only calls window.close() in its onload body attribute

• When I am downloading anything from any website in firefox and if I close main window of firefox, the downloading file also gets stops and crashes.

example, I was downloading 74 mb file and as soon as I close firefox window my 74 mb file was downloaded to that size upto which it has been downloaded say 1 Mb for example..

You can set the pref browser.download.manager.quitBehavior to 2 on the about:config page.
That will make Firefox ask for confirmation if you want to cancel the download if you close Firefox.
See:
* http://kb.mozillazine.org/browser.download.manager.quitBehavior
To open the about:config page, type about:config in the location (address) bar and press the "Enter" key, just like you type the url of a website to open a website.
If you see a warning then you can confirm that you want to access that page.
*Use the Filter bar at to top of the about:config page to locate a preference more easily.
*Preferences that have been modified show as bold (user set).
*Preferences can be reset to the default via the right-click context menu if they are user set
*Preferences can be changed via the right-click context menu: Modify (String or Integer) or Toggle (Boolean)

• When I open a separate window and start private browsing my main window closes and I lose all of my app tabs

whenever I open a new window and do private browsing it closes my main window and I loose all of my app tabs. If this is functioning as designed then it is a flaw in the design.

It is designed that way. When you stop private browsing, all of your other tabs will come back.

• Close main application window in WD for Java

Hi there,
Is there anyway I can close the main application window(not popup) programatically.
I tried calling the exit plug in the interface view controller, but doesnt seem to close the window automatically.
I am having 2 components, one calling the other..
Any help will be greatly appreciated.
Many Thanks
lm

Hi LM,
Check Re: Close the parent window especialy Nibu`s suggestion.

1) In your Interface view, create an exit plug with a parameter Url of type string.
2) Add your Interface view controller to your current view's required controller. (in properties tab of your view)
3) After opening the new External window fire the outbound plug as :
wdThis.wdGet<your interface view controller>().wdFirePlug<your exit plug's name>("javascript:void(window.close())");

It should work for you.
Best regards, Maksim Rashchynski.

• WD ABAP: close main application window without logging off

Hi all,
I need to fire a url (like www.yahoo.com) when a button in a popup window is pressed. The popup as well as the main window need to be closed but not logged off. I was able to close the popup but not the main window. What are the steps in doing it and if u could provide the code too, it would be helpful.
Thanks,
Sravanthi

Hi Sravanthi,
Yes, this is possible by using the suspend/resume functionality. More information can be found here:

• Firefox will open a New Pop-up Window in Windows 7 Aero. When trying to Close it, it thinks it wants me to Close the Main Window. Why?

I use Windows 7 Ultimate in Aero-mode. When a new Firefox window is opened, or a Pop-up window appears, I can't close it without first clicking on that page and clicking the "X" in the corner. Instead, whenever I try to close a window that is not the first window (my main window), it will ask me if I want to close the main window with all the tabs... I have noticed some other slight quirks in this stable release as well, but this one is always present.

When I hover over the window, it does come up front, but as soon as I press the red "X" it goes immediately back to the main window and acts as if I was trying to close that one. Once in a while it will work, but shortly thereafter, it will just go back into this manner. Quite odd. This is the first time I've truly had any problems with Firefox.
In addition to that problem I have noticed a few things, but one that may be linked is sometimes I'll click a link. Although I haven't specified to open it in a new window, it will do so anyhow. This gets annoying quickly. Usually shutting down Firefox and reopening will fix this (and once in a while just leaving it be for a long time). Somehow, I think this issue is somehow linked to the one above.

• How to close a window that is called from main window?

hi....
I have a main window that calls a second window, but when I close the second window all my application end. I just want the second window returns to main window. how do I do it?

Set the onClose behaviour: ... something like setDefaultCloseOperation
dont exist, instead dispose.
In addition you could attach a listener to the windowClosing event

• Disable Main Window Close

I have developed an AIR application and here is my goal, I don’t want users been able to close the main window. I have tried to disable the close button but I thing that it is not possible. I would like to find a way to control that may be in trapping the close event of the window.
Regards,

You can listen to the Event.CLOSING event and preventDefault on it, for example:
<s:WindowedApplication xmlns:fx="http://ns.adobe.com/mxml/2009"
xmlns:s="library://ns.adobe.com/flex/spark"
creationComplete="init()">
<fx:Script>

private function init():void {
addEventListener(Event.CLOSING, cancelClose);
private function cancelClose(e:Event):void {
if (!allowClose.selected)
e.preventDefault()

</fx:Script>
<s:CheckBox id="allowClose" label="allow closing" />
</s:WindowedApplication>

• Close portal main window without confirmation message

Hi All,
Is it possible to close the Portal Main Window (main page) without a confirmation popup window.
I am launching an iView (can be excel sheet/html page etc) using Quick Link which is attached to a role.
When this iView opens, I want to close the portal main page.
I am using the below code to close the main window.
window.top.close()
But it is prompting a confirmation popup window "Do you want to close this window". I don't want this popup message.
I have tried with below code also, but it is neither prompting nor closing the window.
window.opener=null;
window.close();
window.opener=self;
window.close();
Can anyone tell me how to acheive the above requirement.
Thanks
Chinna.

Hi Baby,
I am using IE6.
I am executing this code from my AbstractPortalComponent within the doContent method.
I have tested by replacing the browser URL with this script
javascript:window.top.open('','_self','');window.close();
It pops up the confirmation window.
Thanks
Chinna.

• I just updated to latest version, now sidebar (bookmarks, downloads) won't widen beyond a certain width, though the main window will. What should I do?

The left right arrow toggle button works only so far going to the right, then the sidebar separates and doesn't expand any further. Any ideas how to get the toggle button to stay connected to both sidebar and main window??

'''Try Firefox Safe Mode''' to see if the problem goes away. Safe Mode is a troubleshooting mode, which disables most add-ons.
''(If you're not using it, switch to the Default theme.)''
* Open the Help menu and click on the '''Restart with Add-ons Disabled...''' menu item while Firefox is running.
''Once you get the pop-up, just select "'Start in Safe Mode"''
'''''If the issue is not present in Firefox Safe Mode''''', your problem is probably caused by an extension.
''To exit the Firefox Safe Mode, just close Firefox and wait a few seconds before opening Firefox for normal use again.''
Please report back with your report.
