WDrawingSurfaceInfo not found in Java 1.4
Hi,
Code:
WCanvasPeer wcp = (WCanvasPeer) c.getPeer();
if (wcp == null)
return 0;
WDrawingSurfaceInfo wdsi =
(WDrawingSurfaceInfo) wcp.getDrawingSurfaceInfo();
This code is residing in a class(myWDrawingSurfaceInfo) which i have created & included in the package sun.awt.windows by using the command
"package sun.awt.windows" in the first line of the program.
If i use Java 1.3.1, then the code is compiling fine. But, when I use Java 1.4.1, I get the following error. "class WDrawingSurfaceInfo not found in class sun.awt.windows.myWDrawingSurfaceInfo"
Can anyone please help me point as to what is happening here.
Thanks in advance,
Rudra
Yeah, you shouldn't be using these classes.
All the classes that are not in the java.* or javax.* packages are subject to change at Sun's will. So don't count on them being there.

Java 6 pakage names not found running Java 5
I have a JSP trying to use a bean class compiled under Java 6, but running under Java 5. The problem is with the handling of the Java package name. The package is 'com.myCompanyname'. The class should go in 'WEB-INF/classes/com/myCompanyname'. But if I put it there and run the JSP on a Java 5 appserver, I get an error: 'jsp:useBean can't find class com.myCompanyname.myClass'.
In other words, if I want to use a Java 6 feature not found in Java 5, all Java 5 or earlier users of my product will not be able to use the new version of my product. I can't force my customers to upgrade to Java 6 just for my application. Most of you know how hostile customers get when you tell them they have to upgrade their OS, AppServer, JRE, etc. to run a new version of your product.
Any suggestions?All well and good, but I'll never be able to add any features to my product that require post-Java 5 classes.
Now, I understand that it is sometimes unavoidable to become incompatible between releases. But only for just cause. I don't feel this is just cause. It strikes me as a rather willy-nilly decision to change how package names are handled this far into the Java development process. What could possibly be the advantage of making this change? In fact, I don't even know what change was made, the new release just broke my old classes. -

install.sh not working - need help
Hi all,
OS Solaris 8. Sun Sparc 20 - 256 MB 9.1 GB. I am using csh for this install as instructed for the user OPAPPS.
I have installed Oracle 8.1.6 Rel 2 on the SUN Sparc. Everything is fine and a customised DB has been created. Now I
have to install an Oracle application on the same server. I have a working knowledge of Unix but I don't know scripting.
I logged in as OPAPPS as required. (.chsrc). I have set the path with all possible directories and made it a member of

I put the CD in the CDROM and then cd /cdrom

Would anybody know why I get install.sh NOT found when it is there?. This executabel is on the CD. I am not sure why it gives
a java runtime error message when it is OK. Remember, I have already installed Oracle 8i using the same environment with the existing java runtime .
Thanks for your help.Hi,
I am installing Oracle clinical 4.5.x.
I need to know whether both the Database server and application server for Oracle Clinical can be installed on same server(windows 2000 server).
Both of them are installed on windows platform.
It seems that u have tried the single node installation.
So,please give all the possible details regarding the single node installation for oracle clinical no matter what platform it is.
Please reply me as soon as possible, its urgent.
Thanking u in advance. -
I just reinstalled Oracle9i with patch, because I wasn't able to create spatial index (that's the short explanation for reinstalling oracle).

to use neither jdk? (to make sure that it fails - if it still runs you
aren't using the jdk you expected)

Actually, I am using jkd1.4. I even tried jkd1.3 that came
with the server. I get the same error under both versions.

just guessing, it looks like you might be using an old version of java

SetReplyTo not found in Java smtp?
Hello
I'm able to send email using Java's smtp library but when I add setReplyTo it gets underlined in red and when I hover over it, I get a message saying "Cannot find symbol" here is the code
String host = "smtp.live.com";
String from = "[email protected]";
String to = "[email protected]";
int port = 587;
// Get system properties
Properties props = System.getProperties();
// Setup mail server
props.setProperty("mail.smtp.host", host);
props.put("mail.smtp.port", port);
props.put("mail.smtp.starttls.enable","true");
Session session = Session.getInstance(props);
//session.setDebug(true);
MimeMessage msg = new MimeMessage(session);
msg.setText("This is a test");
msg.setSubject("This is the subject");
msg.setFrom(new InternetAddress(from));
msg.setReplyTo(new InternetAddress(from));
msg.addRecipient(Message.RecipientType.TO, new InternetAddress(to));
Transport tr = session.getTransport("smtp");
tr.connect("smtp.live.com", from, "password");
msg.saveChanges();
tr.sendMessage(msg, msg.getAllRecipients());
tr.close();Everything works when I comment out "msg.setReplyTo(new InternetAddress(from))", but I need that method because I want the reply address to be different. Any idea why its not working?
Best Regards
Edited by: xpro on Jan 15, 2010 10:56 AMThere isn't any setReplyTo(Address) method in the MimeMessage class. That's why you get a message saying that. Look a bit more closely at the API documentation; there is indeed a setReplyTo method, but look at its parameters.

Javax.smartcardio package not found in Java source file
I downloaded the latest JDK from developer.apple.com, but now I cannot find the javax.smartcardio package in the source package (src.jar) that came with it. I unpacked the JAR file, but simply can't find the stated package. Can you help me out?
I can confirm the issue here (Mountain Lion, 10.8.5). A very simple program (attached below) that just enumerates terminals and checks if a card is present will crash:
If Apple JDK6 is used in 64-bit mode (without supplying the -d32 argument)
If Oracle JDK7 is used (can not switch to 64-bit, uses)
It will work if:
If Apple JDK6 is forced into 32-bit mode using -d32
If Oracle JDK7 version of libj2pcsc.dylib is replaced with a patched version
javax.smartcardio on Mac OS X is in a truly sad state. :-(
Can anyone suggest alternatives for Smartcard communication on Mac OS X fat clients?
package com.example.smartcardio;
import javax.smartcardio.CardTerminal;
import javax.smartcardio.CardTerminals;
import javax.smartcardio.TerminalFactory;
public class TestWaitForChanges {
public static void main(String[] args) throws Exception {
CardTerminals terminals = TerminalFactory.getDefault().terminals();
while (true) {
for (CardTerminal terminal : terminals.list()) {
System.out.println("Checking terminal: " + terminal.getName());
System.out.println("Card present: " + (terminal.isCardPresent() ? "YES" : "NO"));

SriramIt is not in the java documentation because it is not a java problem.
When you write JNI code (or any other code for that matter) you probably should look at the documentation for the compilers and other tools that you are using for recommendations for how to use these third party tools.
What would have been surprizing to me, is if your C++ compiler manual did not recommend linking with the standard C++ library when you use code contained in the library. Which was the problem here. -

I did some more research and found out that method loadURLs of class MetaInfFacesConfigResourceProvider.java is throwing IOException. Is this some kind of class path issue? Please help!
private Collection<URL> loadURLs(ServletContext context) throws IOException {
154
155 Set<URL> urls = new HashSet<URL>();
156 for (Enumeration<URL> e = Util.getCurrentLoader(this).getResources(META_INF_RESOURCES); e.hasMoreElements();) {
157 urls.add(e.nextElement());
158 }
159 urls.addAll(Arrays.asList(Classpath.search("META-INF/", ".faces-config.xml")));
160 // special case for finding taglib files in WEB-INF/classes/META-INF
161 Set paths = context.getResourcePaths(WEB_INF_CLASSES);
162 if (paths != null) {
163 for (Object path : paths) {
164 String p = path.toString();
165 if (p.endsWith(".taglib.xml")) {
166 urls.add(context.getResource(p));
167 }
168 }
169 }
170 return urls;
171
172 }

Edited by: user12054715 on Sep 14, 2011 2:13 PMI did a couple of things ( gathered from various posts on OTN). I am not sure which one did the trick but the error is gone now. I am mentioning the steps that I took. Later when I have more time, I will narrow down to exactly what worked.
1. The following was missing from my web.xml (Thanks Rene!) Added it
<listener>
<listener-class>com.sun.faces.config.ConfigureListener</listener-class>
</listener>
2. Removed any mention of 'Anonymous-User' from Jazn-data.xml.
Application tab -> Secure -> Configure ADF Security -> Jazn-data.xml (source tab and removed block of code referring to anonymous user)
Hope this will help others.
