Web Analysis Spreadsheet object problem

Hi All,
I am facing an issue in WA where a report connected to an Essbase cube, has 2 spread sheet objects in it.
Each spread sheet object uses 4 dimensions in them of which 3 dimensions are used as columns for both spread sheets sheets and the row dimension differs,
Say spread sheet A has Dim A as the row and DimC,Dim D and Dim E as columns, and spread sheet B has Dim B as the row and DimC, Dim D and Dim E as columns.
There exists some sort of a link between SS A and SS B, where SS A is connected to the data source and SS B is linked to SS A through dimension Dim B.
When I drill down on Dim A of SS A, the consolidated value at the top level of Dim B in SS B gets doubled.
Actually the consolidated value at the top level of Dim A in SS A should be equal to the consolidated value at the top level of Dim B in SS B, because Dim A is fixed to its uppermost member in SS B.
Meaning the value in the cell which holds the consolidated value at the top level of Dim B in SS B, gets incremented by the consolidated value at the top level of Dim A in SS A, for the first drill down.
Can anyone tell me of a way by which I can clear the contents of the cell which holds the consolidated value at the top level of Dim B in SS B, using any function of the spreadseet or if there is a way in code that I can use to clear the contents of this cell?

Hi,
I have made my report on Web Analysis. I could open and edit it till yesterday. But now whenevr I try to open it I get an error popped up saying "Error loading document". I am not able to figure out why am i facing this problem. Could anybody please help me on same.

Web analysis drill down problem

I have a problem in web analysis. I am using EPM 11.1. Strangely, in customer dimension become not to drill down to level 0 without giving any problem. normally I can drill down customer dim. I have 4 level and in level 3 I can drill down, level 2 I can drill down, but in level 1 I cannot drill down to level 0. strangely not only the one cube that customer have, all the cubes that customer have has the same problem.
Has anyone have any idea?

WEb analyser display - scroll problem

Dear all,
probably easy question for all,
when i display reports in web analyzer, i can only display 4-5 line of data, 6-7 columns which i need to scroll , which is not comfortable.
is there any way to fix that?

How to write conditional statements in web analysis

i have an average member in the Measures dimension in ASO application.
i wrote a formulae to it as IIF(A=0 OR A=0 MISING), B/12, A/12
The value is calculating correctly on the level-0 and displaying correctly but when it is drilled up the formulae is not working, i have ~ consolidation operator applied to the average member and i have the measures dimension as dynamica hierachy and its an accounts dim..
so i have tried to apply a average formulale in web analysis rather than in essbase, when i drill up also it is working fine but when the A value is 0 i am getting 0 value but as per the requirement it should be B/12
so please guide me does can i use any coniditional statements in web analysis?
if not when i drill up how does my essbase gives the correct result instead of consolidating.

Any suggestions .. or is this is a web analysis tool feasiblillity problem ...
when i apply more than one filter and when i try to drill up the my Average is consolidating but it should not consolidate it should give the Average value. on top it if my Average is ZERO the value should be B/12....
Any Thoughts?

SQL Spreadsheet report in Web Analysis 9.3.0.1

We just migrated to 9.3.0.1 from 7.x and have a problem getting the JDBC connection setup for SQL Spreadsheets from Web Analysis. We are running on Windows 2003 and Websphere 5.1.1. In 7.x the configuration was part of the installer or configuration tool, however I cannot find any JDBC setup to allow this in the 9.3.0.1 documentation. We are missing something, just don't know what it is.

I also receive the same error in 9.3.1. At first I thought maybe the query of "Select * from table" wouldn't work without column names being listed, however changing to select specific columns also did not work.
We don't typically use this, however I was able to get this working by using the "Query Builder" option instead of writing my own query. Once I generated the query, drop the SQL subscription object on the report, select the datasource, then you should see the columns from the query.
I also tested this in 9.3.0 and was able to use the query I typed in and did not have to use the query builder button.

Problems in Limiting Export option in Web Analysis shortcut menu options

Hi everyone,
i'm trying to limit the shortcut menù option in Web Analysis studio following the instructions in the WA 9.3.1 user guide: "Limiting Web Analysis Studio Shortcut Menu Options" page 293. Exactly i would hyde the Export to some users (an user with Viewer and Expoler permissions).
The problem is that the solution does not work.
Resuming:
First, I have created the WAMenu.xml file, with restrictions for the roles: Viewer and Explorer (using the same tags of the Sample XML File in the guide)
Second, I have modified the WebAnalysis.properties file removing the # ahead this two lines:
"WAStudioMenuControl= C:/Hyperion/Analyzer/conf/WAMenu.xml
ModuleName=WebAnalysisStudio"
and modified the path with the correct location of the XML file.
At last, i have restart the services regarding Workspace and Web Analysis.
But, it does not work. The user can still see the export options in the shortcut menu..I don't understand what is wrong..
I really hope that someone can help me!!

Unfortunately it doesn't restrict neither in the workspace nor in the WA studio.
I made a lot of attempts, not only with export but also with other option, and there are no changes!!
Do you remember if you made the same steps descripted above, or there is something that i did not make (or made wrong)??

Web Analysis Problem using the "Send to Excel" service

I built reports using WebAnalysis 9.3.0.
I attached the "Send to Excel" service button to my report. I am using a combination of Excel 2003 & 2007.
I have the following settings in my webanalysis.properties file:
MaxDataCellLimit=200000
XLExportMaxRows=60000
XLExportMaxColumns=200
My problem is when I try to use the "Send to Excel" button. For "small" reports Excel opens quickly with my report information. Small being around 1,000 rows and 20 columns. If I add more rows, say another 400 or so - Excel never opens with my report information. Web Analysis sits there for about 5 minutes or so and does nothing. After that I can start using WA again - but no report in Excel.
I get the same result by right clicking on the report in WA Studio and selecting "Export Data..."
Any ideas?

Hyperion support suggested I try adding the Excel path to my webanalysis.properties file
So I now have:
ExcelPath=D:\\Progra~1\Micros~1\\OFFICE11\\Excel.exe;C:\\Progra~1\Micros~2\\OFFICE11\\Excel.exe
MaxDataCellLimit=200000
XLExportMaxRows=60000
XLExportMaxColumns=200
ResolveDimSetAliases=false
Where D:\\Progra~1\Micros~1\\OFFICE11\\Excel.exe is the path to Excel as installed on the server where WA Studio is installed.
And C:\\Progra~1\Micros~2\\OFFICE11\\Excel.exe is the path to Excel as installed on my laptop.
This did not correct my problem.
Am I using the ExcelPath=.... correctly?
I was not sure this would work since WA Studio successfully starts Excel for "smaller" reports. But I tried it anyway.
Any ideas?

Freeze Spreadsheet header in Web Analysis Report (HTML format)

Hello,
I want to know if there is any way to freeze the spreadsheet header in Web Analysis. I know it can be done if the report is opened through Web Analysis Studio. However, when the user opens it in HTML format, the header will not be freeze.

I don't believe you can do this. We ran into the same issue last summer and it left our long scrolling dashboards useless as you couldn't see what row you were looking at once the row headers had left the screen. We talked about having some dashboards launch from workspace and others from Web Analysis but this was messy and we wanted them to one-stop shop in Workspace.
The answer for us was to put a Check Box on the right hand side and the users only select the amount of members that fill up their screen. For instance, if we had 20 columns of data (accounts or scenarios) and only 5 were visible at one time, they would only select 5 to view at any given time.
As far as column headers, we haven't had any complaints when those leave the screen.
This was a huge issue for us but luckily we came up with a workaround that seems to have worked for all of our users thus far.

Problems using substitution variable in Web Analysis

Dear all,
I have a Web Analysis report that I need to show a raking table with the current month.
For that I create a variable in Essbase that is updated with that date (E.g.: varCurrentMonth).
After that I use it as my substitution variable to filter my date dimension in a report data source (E.g.: Scr5, row: product, column: date dimension & measure):
2008 (current month)
Product $ qty.
AAA 100 10
BBB 90 7
CCC 80 5
The problem is that in our cube we need to use an alias in every dimension not to have duplicate members (E.g.: DT.Date, MS.Measure, PD.Product, etc). And when we use it we need to set up the variable in Essbase using that alias (E.g.: DT.Feb/05/08). And if we use that variable as a substitution variable in the report data source the label displayed is the DT.2008 and not 2008 as expected.
Does anybody have an idea how to solve that?

You usually get this error message if you are trying to assign a value from a sub var to a member that does not exist.
e.g. trying to put FY08 which is a year member against a period dimension
or trying to use a sub var of FY09 which does not yet exist in the essbase, so say you added a new year in planning FY09 and used the sub var in the form but have not refreshed the database then it would fail because the year would not have been pushed down to essbase yet.
or the value of the subvar does not match a member name exactly
or using a sub var name that does not exist in essbase, e.g. using &nextYear but the sub var has not been created in essbase.
You can definitely use subsitution variables in columns in the version you are using and prior version.

Linking objects in Web Analysis

Hi,
I have two questions, if anyone can help that would be great,
1. I have succesfully created a report in Web Analysis, however, I'd like to change some formatting (underlineing some members as well as adding some rows and columns) does anyone know how to do this?
2. I am using Selection Button Subscription in my report, is it possible to have these displaed on another page and link those selections to the object?

1. Adding rows , columns can be done when you go to View->Data layout,where you can select rows, columns and pages.
2. For data formatting, right click report and you ll get format option ,in which you can select tab of 'data format' and do what formatting you want
3. Coming to the selection button, you can ahieve that using 'services'. In services, you have many options , you need to select 'open document' and select the appropriate form/report. This will create a button ( you can name that text too) and when some one clicks on it, it will lead you to the linked report.

Problem in calculation with web analysis

Hi, Experts..
Here is an interesting quetion...with Web Analysis
I need to calculate mat ov/kg for a site which is obatained by (total value/total volume). When i went for calculation option in analysis tool manager and apply formula this,It is taking for only one site calculation not happening for the other sites.Totally we have 60 sites with us and would not be flexible to calculate it individually.
Is there any possibility to run calc scripts...in web analysis... or how to solve this problem?

It might be because you have set up the 60 sites individually within the Web Analysis grid? We had some difficulty when first using Web Analysis and needed to put the calculations at the highest level using the calc manager. You also have to be careful if there are lots of columns, due to the way the calculation manager applies calcs and formats due to the inheritance.
Another option would be to push the calculation back to the cube, which is best practice as it's easier, more scalable for deployments.

Configuration problem with Applet Hyperion Web Analysis

We have installed Hyperion Web Analysis 9.3 on IBM Websphere 6.1 however we have some problems when we try to enter Web Analysis URL (http://localhost:9085/WebAnalysis/WebAnalysis.jsp) due to Applet Web Analysis Client do not initiate. We had checked Web Analysis logs and we found the next error:

Problem with Web Analysis

Hi,
With the help from some of the experts in this forum, I have finished installing and configuring the following 3 Hyperion 9.3.1 products (in this order) on our Windows 2003 development server.
V11229-01.zip (Hyperion Shared Services)
V11207-01.zip (Hyperion Reporting and Analysis - Services Release)
V11223-01.zip (Hyperion Reporting and Analysis - UI Services Release)
The backend is an Oracle 10g database.
I can successfully log into
(1) Shared Services @ http://localhost:58080/interop as admin/<default password>
(2) Web Analysis @ http://localhost:16000/WebAnalysis/WebAnalysis.jsp with the same userid/password (that I used to log into Shared Services)
(3) Workspace @ http://localhost:45000/workspace/index.jsp with the same userid/password (that I used to log into Shared Services)
This tells me I probably configured these componently correctly.
However, it seems that I cannot do something basic in Web Analysis Studio. For Example, if I try to do
File->New->Document Wizard, most of the menu options under "File" are grayed out.
To be precise, the following options under "File" are grayed out.
New, Open, Edit, Close, Close All, Save, SAve As, SAve as HTML, Properties, IMport, Export, Email As LInk, Print
so, I could not even do File->New.
In fact, the "Edit", "View" and "Display" menu items in the menu bar are grayed out as well.
As you can see, I can do very little in the Web Analysis Studio (I am logged in as admin user, which is the only user now).
Is this a permission issue? or did I fail to install some necessary components?
Also, in this forum, how do I post a screen capture (saved as an image)?

How to use one Combo Box to control Two spreadsheet/charts in Web Analysis

In Web Analysis panel, I have one data grid and one chart (two different data sources). I would like to have one combo box, e.g. Q1, Q2, Q3, Q4, in the selection (drop-down). When I select Q1, I would like to show Jan, Feb, Mar, Q1 ( ICHILDREN(Q1)) in my chart, and also only Q1 in my data grid.
Any suggestions?

I believe you can do this. For example you want to have a Chart and Graph linked to a drop down for products. When you select a product, the two POV's will change on the reports.
Look at Panels in WA. I create a report with three panels. Make the first panel top aligned, the second top aligned and the third stretched. This should make the report "stretchy". Then add your dropdown to one panel and your reports to the other two panels.
Finally link the reports to dropdown using the re-linking technique mentioned in the previous post.
