Web app item lists in secure zones

I have a single web app, and I'm trying to distribute secured web apps items across the different secure zones a customer may be logged into.
For example, Customer A is a member of Secure Zone 1, which contains the secured web app items X, Y, Z
Customer B is a member of Secure Zone 2, which contains the secured web app items U, V, W
What I've discovered is that both customers can see all web app items (U V W X Y Z) in the list view layout, but clicking to view the detail of an item not in their secure zone will prompt them to log in.
Is that correct? If I SECURE an item by putting it in a secure zone, I don't expect it to show up in a list for a customer that is not a member of that secure zone.

Your understanding of how BC works is correct.  Only the details page will respect your secure zone setting.
To achieve what you need, the page that holds the list of items would have to be secured in the proper zone, and you would need to fileter the list output by category, perhaps setup a category to mirror each of your secure zones.
An extension to that which would allow you to have a single output page would be to ajax in the list view output, and pull that from the specific page based on the users secure zone.  You can get the names of the users secure zones using a builtin BC tag {module_subscriptions}

  • Web App {tag_edit} doesn't render in web Web App search results within secure zone?

We have secure zones that are to display certain web app items to be filtered by Category. The secure zone members need to filter through web app items and edit these items from the list view. We've set it up accordingly and the list view is exactly how it should be when it is simply displaying on a page within the secure zone, however when the web app search/filtering is applied the "edit" tag doesn't display. Is there anyway to have this work or does it simply not? Please tell me it is possible to filter and edit web apps.
    Thanks in advance,

Hi The Bowery, the edit tag will not show in general web app item search results unless the owner of that web app item is logged in to a secure zone to view it.
However, if you are happy for anyone looking at the website to edit all web app items, you can set that in the properties of the web app itself. Then I think the edit tag will show to anyone looking at the web app items.
If you only want the web app item owner to edit the web app item then you need to set up a secure zone for them to log in and view it.
It will show when the web app item owner is logged in and viewing the web app items, if the edit tag has been added to the layout customisations. So it will only show to the web app item owner.
You need to set up a secure zone for the web app item owners to upload and edit their web app items.
Search results on a webapp use the List template layout  for the webapp to show a summary of the search results and the detail Template Layout is what shows when you click on the search result summary item. In webapp setups I usually put the edit tag in the List template

  • Set Disable or Expiry Date for web app item via Edit form

I have a user that wants to delete a web app item from a secure zone edit form, but they are not the owner of that web app item.  All items in the web app were imported via a csv file and hence do not have a 'submitted by' user id assigned.
Is it possible to Disable a web app item using a web app Edit form?  or alternatively, is it possible to set the Expiry Date of a web app item using a web app Edit form?
    Thanks
    Dave

Sorry Brian, but I'm not sure that answers my question.
Sure, I can create a single web app item for every single client of my customer, manually.
Sure, I can create and 'allocate' that single web app item to each customer manually.
I pray the customer doesn't have hundreds of clients. And I would have to teach my customer how to do this convoluted process for every new client.
But the one thing this doesn't do is answer the question of updating the value of units held.
It seems the order module remains the closes to what I am looking for in that it allows an equation, and is automatically customer specific.
However, I am looking for a way to achieve a single daily update by the customer as to the value of the units held by each client. This can be done via the product module - update price. But this does not update existing orders. Exisitng orders are fixed at the price on the day. The customer wants to update the value once, in one place, and have that amend all existing 'orders' to reflect the new total value of units held by each individual client, and to have this show in each client's member area.
If you can think of a way of doing this in webapps or via the order module, this is what I am looking for. Anyone?

  • Is the "Display list of web app items submitted by a user" feature not available in the free trial?

Is the "Display list of web app items submitted by a user" feature not available in the free trial? I can see it in the tutorials but its not available when I am logged in.

Its just named a little differently now. You should be able to add the module {module_webappscustomer} through the Modules toolbox in the web page editor window, as indicated below. Please note that webapps feature is available only for webCommerce sites. Read more about the available modules and its usage in detail here - http://kb.worldsecuresystems.com/134/bc_1345.html?bc-partner#main_Web_App_Modules

  • Secure Web App Items

Can you secure the content on a page without securing the page itself? i.e. Web app items on page are visible but you cannot download web app items without logging in.

Thanks Liam. I have a separate issue & I think you may be the only one that can answer this... Using Web Apps Input Form, visitors can upload file attachments (Upload a Resource). Please see: http://www.unihub.co.nz/econ-101/econ-101 In the case of images, we require a link to the image download (Resources) as is the case with other file attachments such as Word Documents, rather than displaying the image itself. I haven't been able to find a way to do this. Do you know if this is possible please? Or, another solution would be to re-size the image.

  • How can I link a web app item to another via Next link

I would like to add a next link and previous link on a web app detail layout. Then people can scroll through the detail layout items without going back to the list view.
I'm creating a portfolio with a description of the project details and links to external websites. There is no tag for that purpose.
Any suggestions? I'm a bit new at custom web apps and editing the layouts with css.

    Hi,
you would have to create 2 additional custom fields as text (string) field types and name them something like, "next item url" and "prev item url". Then you would have to enter the next and previous item url manually for each individual web app item. You can include the new tags in the detail view, something like <a href="{tag_prev item url}">Prev</a> and <a href="{tag_next item url}">Next</a>.
    Hope that helps.

  • Multiple users, using the same web app items?

Iam building a service for familes were the parents should be able to read / add / edit the same secure web app items.
So when logged in the user have access to the same user submitted web app items.
I found a thread answerd by Liam and my guess this is not possible? Can it be partial be done e.g. just let the "family" read the familys items? And no there is not possible to add / pair the users in backend because there are to many.
Any tip where to look? I have tried to use the "uniqe ID, datasource, unique template" method but do you "wizards" :-) think that's the way to go?
This thread suggest it's not doable.

    Not in association Johan no.
You can have one "Family" login they all use to log in but it will kick one out if the other logs in and of course, multiple people sharing the same login increases the security risk.
You can only set one owner as well.

  • How would you limit the number of Web App items a user can enter.

I am creating a web app where people can list objects/items. I want to offer plans that will enable users to enter up to a predefined number of entries and no more than what they paid to enter. They can then come back as often as they wish during their subscription period to update, create, and/or delete entries ( but again, never more than what thier subscription entitles them ).
    Fore sake of illustration.
User Plan 1 entitles user to enter 1 web app item,
    while
User Plan 2 entitle user to enter 3 web app items, and
User Plan 3 entitles user to enter 5 web app items.
    These are annual plans.
    Any ideas?

    Hi,
As per your query you can not define to any user for schedule selected background jobs. I hope you are clear for this.

  • How to make a Web App Item Repeat?

    Hi,
Is there a way to build a Web App that has an item repeat automatically?
For example if there is a list view of ongoing events, is there a way to code it so an event appears every other Tuesday for example?  The idea is that the user doesn't have to create a new event for every Tuesday.
Pointers in the righ direction or jQuery/javascript ideas are much appreciated!!
    Thanks,
    Jeff

Yea it'd have to be javascript/jQuery. The jQuery solution would be something like:
Add a field to your web app that is called "Daily Class" and use the True/False field type.  This field type will output a "1" if it's True and "0" if it's False. Also, if you are retroactively adding this field to your web app, there's a chance there might be nothing output if someone didn't click the checkbox at all.
Add another field to your web app called "Daily Class Day" and have it be a dropdown (select box) so that you can add the days of the week and they can only choose those days so your values will be consistent. If you left it a string or regular text field type then your client could enter values like "wednesday" or "Wednesday" or even have misspellings.
Add these field sto your web app layout list or detail view in a hidden input elements:
    <input type="hidden" id="dailyeventstatus" value="{tag_Daily Class}"/>
    <input type="hidden" id="dailyeventdate" value="{tag_Daily Class Day}" />
Your jQuery could check for that input and if it's value is "1" and "1" only and if there's a value for the day, then copy that class information and insert it into another list that you have setup to show daily classes.

  • Download Web App Url List

    Hi,
Does anyone know how we can download the web app items url list?
I can export all the web app items but I do not see the url. I think it used to be available but now it does not show up.
    Thanks
    Sohal

    Hi Sohal,
There isn't yet a way to pull that information through a report, but an easy way around this would be to just list all the webapp items on a page ({module_webapps,WebappID,a}), having previously modified the layout from module templates > webapp layouts> list layout to only contain {tag_itemurl_withhost}. It will output the links of all the webapp items of a specific webapp.

  • Web App Items added to Web Form on submission

I have a site that allows users to search for and borrow items. All items are in a web app. The idea is that when the user searches items, they can add them to a "Borrow List" and once finished they submit a Web Form that contains a list of their items. It should work in a similar manner to a shopping cart, but there is no payment associated.
How can I get my web app items to feed into a contact form in this way???

    Hi Peta,
The only way I can see this done in is to add the web app items to a cookie using JS and then when they go to web form to populate the hidden form field with the values from that cookie. That's the only way to do it unless you want to use the shopping cart functionality.

  • How to link web app item to different URL other than detail page

Hi, this is probably a bit of a stupid question but I can't find the answer anywhere.  On my site, I have projects set up as web apps--I want the customer to be able to click on the title or image for the web app and for it to link to a PDF or blog page, NOT the detail view.
So I want the app title and image to link to a different URL, not detail view.
Here's the page in question, if that helps: http://sherrihaab.businesscatalyst.com/projects
Thanks in advance for any help.

{tag_name_nolink} - Will make the title with no link wrapped around it
{tag_yourimagefield_value} - Will give you the raw source of the file location
You can then form your own image html and links wrapping this and the web app item name text.
To form the link source to go to - create a text custom field and just type or copy and paste a url into that field.

  • How to sort web app items based on few fields of it on search result page?

I have a web app and its search. The search results are on multiple pages means it has pagination. My client's requirement is to have a feature which will sort results based on some web app items. for example we have a field price so when user select the price it needs to sort from high to low. Any one have idea how to do it?

I have just been playing around with this for something else, all you need to do is duplicate your price field into the weighting field and it will automatically sort from High to low for you.

Let me know the page you are running the API call on, I'll have a look and see what gives.
