Web application publishing

Hello,
I need to publish a few queries in the portal. I have created simple web templates for each of the queries and should publish each of them in a role. There has been created two new roles for these queries.
Unfortunately I can't see the roles in WAD, so I can't publish the templates. According to the authorization guys the roles has been created and I've been given the roles. I'm not able to verify this as I don't have access to PFCG.
What possible reasons can there be? I read something about migrating roles into the portal. Is it necessary to migrate the roles before being able to publish the web templates? Or could there be missing some special setting on the roles to open them for web publishing?
We are using BW 3.5. I'm not sure if we are using EP 5.0 or 6.0, but I suppose it's the first one.

The function for publishing queries from the BEx Query Designer and Web applications from the BEx Web Application Designer directly to a portal role was deleted.
Instead you can publish queries and Web applications to the portal as follows:
●      You can publish queries from the BEx Query Designer and Web applications from the BEx Web Application Designer to the Portal Content Directory (PCD) as iViews.
The iView only becomes visible to a user in the portal when the system administrator has assigned the iView to a portal role or a portal page that is contained in a portal role. This assignment takes place in the Portal Content Studio.

3) Able to view the deployed project and start workflow using "Lauch Workspace" in Admin Center

3) But I am not able to view the workspace, I am not seeing the "Lauch Workspace" in Admin Center.
So I have to install Workspace Extension to view the deployed process and start the workflow? or anyother way to acheive this?

Upgrade share point 2010 web application to share point 2013 with BI solutions.

we have sharepoint portal web application ( publishing enabled , Annonymous access for internet users)
and BI dashboards also we published in this portal.
1 ) so for content db upgrade to 2013 we will follow db attach method, but what about BI pointers list,dashboards list
it also be upgrade with content database.
2) now the BI dashboards connected to SQL Serve Analysis server 2008 r2 datasources, so after upgrade ,
we need to be must upgrade these SSAS datasources to SSAS 2012 ?

Given you aren't using PowerPivot for SharePoint, you can continue using SSAS 2008 R2 for your cubes and data connections. BI dashboards, Lists, and so forth are just SharePoint content, and they get upgraded when you migrate to 2013.

Publish Sharepoint 2013 via Web Application Proxy and Kerberos Authentication

However I have tried his resolution to no avail.
I am trying to publish a SharePoint 2013 website via web application proxy. SharePoint 2013 is using negotiate (Kerberos) as its authentication provider. When trying to browse to the site externally via the WAP I get an http error 500 internal server error.
In the web application proxy's event viewer I find the following two entries every time I try to browse the site.

Copy a publishing page from one Web Application to another

can we copy a publishing page from one web application to another.
If we download a copy from pages library of one web application and upload it to another library of other Web application.
Once uploaded it came up with an error "This page is not using a valid page layout. To correct the problem, edit page settings and select a valid page layout.".

It seems like the page layout is missing in target location. Check similar thread below to solve the issue

For internet publishing ifyou want or need change the authentication method you need to EXTEND the website and enable the CLAIM authentication so the user can login using a HTML form for username and password.
SharePoint make a url parsing to identify the content
to display so you need to explain all the server name used for contacting the WebApplication. You can use 5 different name for the same server
(AAM Alternate Access Mapping).

System Error in publish to EP from BEx Web Application Desginer....??

Hi,
I am trying to Intergrate BW Reports into EP using BEx Web Application Designer. I have Configured everything fine. I have tested all the connections they are working fine. When i am trying to "Publish BW Report into EP (Publish > In Enterprise Portal 6.0)" using BEx Web Application Desginer i am getting System Error in Publish to Portal dialog Box.
Please Help me How to resolve this problem

XCelsius + BICS + Publish to EP + BEx Web Application Designer

Dear Friends,
Any one have idea about how we can publish an XCelsius Dashboard (with BICS connectivity) to the SAP Enterprise portal using Bex Web Application Designer?
I tried to publish the dashboard using the iView, by following the below link.

Hi,
Did creating the iView using the instructions in the link work for one Xcelsius report? Can you explain what you requirement is or expand on your comment "Since it can only support individual report, I can not use this option in my client.". One iView can only launch one object. If you have multiple BW connected XC files to launch I think that you will have to create multiple iViews with the "DASHBOARD=" each XC file value in each iViews BEx Web iView query string parameter setting.
If you only want one link off of your Portal then you could create a BW 7.0 Web application where you could use objects like buttons to launch each individual URL string for the seperate dashboards. The challenge with this would be that your URLs would be static and if you are using a regular BW landscape, DEV / QAS / PRD, then you would need to employ logic find and update the system part of the URL. I am not sure how this would be done, but it would probably require JavaScript. If you do report development in your PRD system this would not be an issue.
From a support perspective I would suggest using a container iView to group your XC reports together and then create a seperate iView for each XC report. This eliminates dealing with the system identifier as the Portal enviroment manages this as the objects are transported through the systems. A container iView with the action iViews in it would look like a menu structure on your Portal.

SAP ICH in the SCM system is capable of publishing pages in web application

Experts,
We have one critical requirements where in we have to suggest customer that whether SAP ICH in the SCM system is capable of publishing pages in web application or not.
In detail... in our customer land scape SCM is the central planning tool and there are two type of users, one type of users have direct access to SCM system where they can directly do thier demand planning, the second type of users only have access to the web application called "extranet", from which they want to see the published planning guidelines and based on that they also wants to create the demand planning (from the web application - extranet). My question is whether SAP Inventory Collaboration Hub will do for this requirement? Do we need an Enterprise Portal to facilitate this functionality? Please advice. Very impartant and critical for delivery by tomorrow. Thanks in advance.

From your query I understood that a set of DP users access the system from external location over web.
SAP gives a solution ,using BSP web pages, to expose the SAP screens as its seen through the SAPGui's. They look similar to the standard only difference is it will be embedded in the browser. Unfortunately SAP was recommending this technology, they has plans to retire this technology as the Portal would suffice this requirement. So to answer your query the portal is a viable solution to your requirement.
ICH cannot help you because it does not give the functionality of DP, instead its a application for collaboration between the entities (manufacturer & supplier or customer).

Portal Port to Publish in Portal via Query Designer and Web Application

Hello Gurus,
Recently we change the port from 50000 to 80 to do federated portal connection more transparent.
After this change I open for example the web application designer and open a web template and try to execute it.
This action pop up the web browser to show the web template, but there is a problem, the web application designer still openning the web template with the 50000 port.
The question is:
Where I change the port used for BEx Web Applications to execute the web templates or the BEx Web querys?

Creating templates using WAD,will take the Data Provider as Query and not workbook.
Hence you can't use workbook for reporting with WAD.
Workbook will come into picture in case of BEx Analyzer,wherin you will create a workbook on top of a query.

Is Web Application Proxy enough as a secure Reverse Proxy/publishing solution

What are people's thoughts on using the Web Application Proxy role as a reverse proxy with only a Firewall between it and the internet...?
We need to replace our ISA 2006 boxes and I have been advocating using WAP with ADFS.
However other 'Reverse Proxy' solution available seem to have more capabilities then just WAP and a Firewall; without we leave ourselves exposed. For instance FortiNet's product FortiWeb has the following 'additional' capabilities:
Protection for application layer attacks (SQL Injection, XSS, PHP/OS/LDAP/RFI/LFI injection and more)
Automatic layer 7 anomaly-based application baselining and threat detection
Data Leak Prevention (CC, SSN, server/application leakage)
IP Reputation
Are these required? Does WAP provide these capabilities but use different terminology?

You will see that Web Application Proxy is designed as a perimeter solution (=running in DMZ)
FortiWeb's product seems a web application firewall. This is a security solution. Security solutions are seldom required, but can help keeping your environment secure.
IIS can also server as a reverse proxy and can do some security stuff too (ip and domain restictions, request filtering,...)
Whether one or the other is the best solution for you, depends on your requirements.

Here are the most common reasons this error can occur:
The code is executed on a different machine - The SharePoint object model (except the Client API) requires to be run on the SharePoint server itself. It is not possible to run the application on a server which is not within the same
SharePoint farm the code is trying to access.
Insufficient Rights on the site collection - The code is executed in context of an account which does not have read permission on the site collection
Incorrect Url being used - Verify that the site works correct in a browser and double check that the server is correct registered in the AAM settings
Incorrect bitness - The SharePoint object model needs to be executed with the same bitness as the operating system. That means you cannot use the SharePoint object model in a 32-bit application if the Operating System and SharePoint
are installed as 64-bit version. Ensure to compile the project using the correct bitness (64-bit on a 64-bit machine vs. 32-bit on a 32-bit machine)
Incorrect .NET framework version - Ensure that the project is configured to use .NET 3.5. .NET 4.0 cannot be used with the current versions of SharePoint

2012 R2 Web Application Proxy returns 400 (Bad Request) for Kerberos IIS App

I've gone through all of the step-by-step examples for publishing applications with the Web App Proxy and I'm getting HTTP 400 when I try to publish an IIS Kerberos application. I'm using ADFS pre-authentication.
The application is SharePoint but I CAN NOT change the authentication method to claims based auth...it has to be windows integrated. I've double checked all of the SPN's and delegation. I get the 400 returned once the user has been authenticated and is forwarded
to the app url with the AUTHTOKEN?=blahblahblah query string. I've installed the ADFS certificate on the proxy and set it to be the external SSL certificate for the application.
PLEASE DONT JUST TELL ME TO POST THIS IN THE GENEVA FORUM FOR ADFS.
