Web AS 6.4 installation (Oracle 9.2)

Hi all,
Is it ok to install Java Central Instance(first and third step of Web AS 6.4 installation) on Windows2k3, and install Java DataBase(second step of Web AS 6.4 installation) on IBM AIX 5, Oracle 9.2 also installed on AIX?
What things I need to watch out during the installation? Thanks in advance...

Hi Mike,
I hav e patched my WebAS 6.30 SP3 to SP4, but I still have the web page and the admin tools telling me that I have a 6.30 SP3! What is the issue?
I have applyed the following files as SP4 (all of them downloaded from SWDC):
SAPINST04_0-20000121.SAR
CTRLORA04_0-20000121.SAR
J2EERT04_0-10001982.SAR
J2EERTOS04_0-20000121.SAR
I did not receive any error during the patching.
Thanks a lot!

  • Invoking a web service not created using oracle web service lib

    Hi All,
I have a need to invoke my web service from oracle sql command. My web service not created using oracle web service library, but it is created using axis c++ libraries. Is it possible to do so,
    Thanks in advance,
    Regards,
    Monica

In order to call out from the database process, is SQL (or PL/SQL) you need to generate some client code, that understand the details about the specific of the service you want to invoke and can produce the correct SOAP request. Once this proxy is uploaded in the Database, you can use it.
There is a set of Database Web services samples that should help you get started. You can also take a look at the developer's guide - see Developing a Web Service Client in the Database.
    Hope it answers your question.

    Dear Avi Miller,
I have successfully installed both of servers (VM Server 3.0.2 & VM Manager 3.0.2) as below
+ VM Server 3.0.2 on Dell PowerEdge 1950
+ VM Manager 3.0.2 in OEL 6.1 on Sun Fire X4100M2 Server
Refer to Oracle VM Server 3.0 Document, they recommend to do Discover Oracle VM Servers to VM Manager first of all step then do anything else like Creating a Server Pool so I try to do Discover Oracle VM Servers in many times but still not success.
What I try to do Discover Oracle Servers as below:
After I install both already I start to Discover Oracle VM quickly
    1. Log into Oracle VM Manager
    2. Select the Hardware view.
    3. Select Discover from the Actions menu. The Discover Servers dialog box is displayed.
    4. Enter information about the Oracle VM Server(s) to be discovered.
    5. Specify an IP Address (or rang): IP_of VM Server and Click Add
    6. Put password of VM Server Agent
    7. Click OK
Wait a minute the Status of VM Manager show fail and when I click Detail it show as below:

  • Installation Oracle 8i with Forms 5.0

    Hi ,
I am trying to install Forms 5.0 in windows 2000 professional which has oracle 8.1.7.
After installation Oracle 8.1.7 gets disabled and Forms 5.0 too did not run.
Please let me know the solution for this problem.
    thanks ,
    Nimit

    1. Forms 5 (Dev 2.1) must be installed onto a new oracle home, not in the same on where 817 is.
    2. It is a good idea to install Forms 5 first, then 817.
Let me know if this solved your problem

  • Visual Web Developer 2010 Express and Oracle ODAC - Oracle data provider

    system - xp pro
Microsoft Visual Web Developer 2010 Express and Oracle ODAC112021.
I can't seem to get the ODAC to work correctly with the Web Developer Express. When putting in a gridview I only see the standard adapters. The one from Oracle does not appear. I have spent days trying to figure out why but no luck. No one else seems to have this problem. I do not see any errors when I installed the ODAC. I've followed a few tutorials.
    http://weblogs.asp.net/nannettethacker/archive/2010/09/17/installing-oracle-data-access-components-odac.aspx
    and
    http://www.smart-soft-nz.com/oracle-and-asp-dot-net.html
I tried using the Windows adapters but they just don't seem to work. I can get results in the query builder but when I go to the next step in the wizard I get the constraints error. I've done all the research on that with no luck so I wanted to use the ODAC. This killing me! This really shouldn't be that hard. I've added the dll to the references but again it's just not an option. If anyone could give me a little direction that would be great!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
    Thank you

    Dear Friends,
Installing SP1 and updates to it solved the first issue. So the database now seems to be of type 2008 R2.
Deleting some files solved the second issue.
    However, another issue remains.
My most important projects were created with a version of VWDX 2010 that was downloaded from Microsoft and installed on July 3, 2012. This version of VWDX has now been lost, because my hard drive recently ceased to function and had to be replaced.
On the new hard drive I have a version of VWDX 2010 that was downloaded yesterday (May 28, 2014). As indicated above, I also installed SP1 and related updates.
When I load a project that was created in the version of VWDX 2010 that was installed almost two years ago and try to open the database connection, I get, in essence, the following error message:
"The database C:\Users\...\Database.mdf cannot be opened, because it is version 661. This server supports version 655 and earlier. A downgrade path is not supported."
So it seems that the original database version was 661, whereas the version downloaded yesterday is 655. It seems very strange that a version downloaded now should be earlier than a version downloaded two years ago. Does anyone have an explanation or a solution?
Thank you all for your trouble, and best regards.
    Eric (orexin)
P.S. The site from which I obtained VWDX yesterday was:
www.microsoft.com/visualstudio/en-us/products/2010-editions/visual-web-developer-express and the executive was called VWD2010SP1AzurePack.exe.

The solution to this problem is simple and easy.
Which port are you using to login to workspace for installing the client. I predict its 45000 port.
Try using the 19000 port for logging into the workspace and try installing the IR web client. It works.
Let me know if there are still any issues.

okay, per the .pdf, i can have a successful installation having the following O/S:
    Boot 1 - Linux AS 4.7
Boot 2 - Windows Server 2003 SP1, or Windows 2000 Professional SP4, or Windows Server 2000 SP4 all of which gave me issues to download and will try again thinking my mind was on too many new things of thought.
As for the other prerequisites, please tell me what else to CONFIGURE or NOT CONFIGURE based on the following:
    (1) Oracle 11g installed fine.
    (2) IIS 6.0 having ASP installed successfully and configured its componets on the default web site created:
    directory browsing is enabled
    authenication features are all enabled
IIS Manager permissions added for Administrator and 5 users created within AD DS (thinking here about kennedy's comment to add a DCOM user)
    ASP service started
Bindings - one for the http static ip using port 80 bound to domain
    (3) Server Configuration involved adding features (successful services) in 2008, which is implied to be the same as outside of known version differences for 2003 or 2000, pending for download from microsoft (having issues with finding the right compliant):
    AD DS
    AD LDS
    IIS
    .Net Framework
    (4) AD DS configuration involved adding users to the site domain corp.carmenwilliams.com. as for the 5 users, i practiced by adding one user giving perm, account, and member of stuff. i have one user that is not within the user folder having a DCOM name. i can't see, read, or obtain anything about kennedy's point in creating a DCOM user.
As part of the wizard setup process, the default site is added having a server successfully running.
I modified all users to have all rights access just to eliminate further study that is outside of my initial work of effort in the near future.
    (5) AD LDS configuration involved a new instance using port 58089 that did not create an application partition and imported an LDF file successfully. i was able to execute LDP.exe to test a connection to my local host.
any other type connection, bindings, or to be apart of is not known how to do at this time.
With said, my hyp installation failed on HabNet and Shared Services Open LDAP which are believed to be the same problem once i install on Linux and Win 2003 or 2000 which ever can be downloaded successfully.
    Please advise.
    Thank you,
    Carmen

    Hi,
I would just try and configure Shared Services on its own first, if you have problems then check the hyperion\logs\config logs for errors.
Shared Services/Openldap are a core component and without that working there is no point in moving on to the next stage of configuration.
    Cheers

  • Clustering OC4J in a full installation OracleAS

I have a full OracleAS Infrastructure and 2 MiddleTier installation with OC4J,
    Apache, Web Caché and Portal.
If I create an OC4J on each MiddleTier installation for my Java Application.
    Can I create a cluster with the 2 OC4Js?
I'm asking this because in 9.0.2 the only way to create OC4J cluster was to
install a Java only OracleAS Instance.

If by "clustering" you mean using dcm to create a dcm-managed cluster and mantain the configuration of multiple instances syncrhonized, then the answer is NO FOR PORTAL (you can't use dcm-managed clusters with OracleAS instances of type "Portal") If by clustering you mean enabling session replication for two OC4J instances that are created inside OracleAS instances of type "Portal", then the answer is YES; you can use sesison replication inside OC4J containers that are part of a Portal installation

  • Web service proxy client from Oracle DB

I need to call an external webservice from oracle db... but this web service does not support "SOAP with attachments" and its specification says that we have to develop a J2EE proxy client to access this web service, this still could be done in a stored procedure, loading jdeveloper generated code in java?, I know that with Jdeveloper I can generate a 'web service stub/skeleton' but how make this stub accesible from oracle with PL/SQL? is this possible?
    thanks in advance

  • Calling One Jax RPC Web Service from another in Oracle AS 10.1.3

We have a number of services residing in the same Oracle 10.1.3 app server container. These are deployed as Jax RPC Web Services
I am trying to figure out what are the different options to have once web service invoke an operation on another (without directly linking to the Java code). The reason we want to keep separation as far as possible is that these services may later migrate to different app servers and in the spirit of SOA all we want to change when a service migrates is address and would like everything else to remain the same.
So for example, if Web Service A needs to invoke an operation X in web service B,
One way to do this seems to be to generate a proxy for web service B, include the proxy in Web Service A and then simply do B.X() from Web Service A.
Is this is the best way to do it ?
Are there other alternative approaches available ? Such as using the built in ESB features of Oracle App Server 10.1.3?
Any pointers will be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks
