Web Based Parameter Form 6i to 10g

I have a report that I can currenlty run using the activex control to run the report (Windows). I'm trying to move this same report to a web based report using Report Services 10g.
How do I get the Parameter from to show up (it's a paper based report, but I want it to show the same way on the web). Basically, trying to migrate the report to the web.
From what I've read (and understand), it seems like a LOT of work for every report to show parameters to the end user to run the report. Hopefully, I'm missing something.
I've basically taken the report as is and put it in the correct directory on the application server. I then use the following URL, but the report blows up with a LOL error:
http://testserver:7778/reports/rwservlet?report=MYREPORT.RDF&destype=cache&desformat=html

Hello,
Add the following paremeter in the URL :
paramform=yes

  • How to run .JSP 9iReport from web with Parameter Form

    Hi,
I m trying to run a .JSP 9ireport from the web. now i have two problems.
    1. how do i display a parameter form from the web, meaning when the user clicks on the link to the report a parameter form should be displayed and the report should give the output for those parameters.
    2. how do i format the report output which i get in the web in pages, with a link called "NEXT" which upon clicking will take the user to the next page.
Any help will be appreciated. Thanks in advance.
    Unmesh

    1. Take a look "Building a reports with a Parameter Form" in "Getting Started with Oracle9i Reports" in otn (URL: http://otn.oracle.com/products/reports/htdocs/getstart/examples/index.html)
    2. Normally web page doesn't have page concept. If you want to define the page for web, you need to do it yourself in the jsp. However, we do support paper based report that supports page and can be deployed on the web. Use pagestream=yes in the URL request.

  • Value to be assigned to a parameter field (web report parameter form)

In a Oracle 10g report In parameter form we have DESTYPE and DESNAME. In database we have PRINTERNAME. we are using run_product to open the report. Now we are in the url
    http://192.168.178.29:7779/reports/rwservlet/getjobid2214?server=rep_inexpas02_OracleFRSR2
    Parameter form:
When we change the value of DESTYPE to Printer I want assign printername in DESNAME field. Other wise DESNAME should be blank. Is there any trigger like when change field of DESTYPE in parameter form (web) assign some value to DESNAME. (AFTER PARAMETER FORM AND BEFORE REPORT ARE NOT SOLVING THE PURPOSE)

Is it correct taht you use forms to invoke the report? If so, a possible solution is to "create" your own parameter-form in forms itself, where you can do such validations and logic as you need. Then run the report without parameter-form.

  • How to Place the report in the WEB from Parameter Form

    Hello folks,
    We are using report 9i.
From the one our form we are going call the report and get
the parameter from Parameter form and generate the PDF format of report and show it in the WEB browser.
Tried with option DesType "Cache" and Desformat "PDF" in the parameter form. It generates but does not show anything anywhere.
But the following way it works. By calling from Browser directly and pass the parameter.
    /reports/rwservlet?report=Weekly_Status_3.rdf&userid=user/pass&destype=cache&desformat=pdf
I would like to goto Parameter form, accept the values and generate pdf report and place it in the browser automatically.
    Suggestions please..
    Thanks,
    Senthil

have paramform=yes added to your url, it will work.
    /reports/rwservlet?report=Weekly_Status_3.rdf&userid=user/pass&destype=cache&desformat=pdf&paramform=yes
ideally all these can be set in a report server's config file cgicmd.dat.

  • Report no runing on web with parameter form

    hi,
when i try to run a report with parameter form it shows an error,
REP-0788 : Warning : The Value of restricted LOV Parameter cust_no is not among the selectable values.
what should i do for running this report on web, i highly appriciate if any one guide me.
    thanks
    Noman

You get this error when you enter a value in the parameter field that is not in the LOV's for that parameter.
If you don't want to restrict the values for the parameter then you should de-select the "restrict" option in the parameter LOV dialog.
If you do want to restrict the values, make sure that you have an appropriate default value for the parameter (ie: one that is in the list of values). Otherwise the user will accept the default values and hit this error.

  • Web Based PDF forms to be sent by e-mail

I write a simplistic web page for a labor union local. We have several forms we embedded as forrm fill PDF's. Members are having difficulty saving completed forms to file, and no one has succussfully submitted a file via the submit button. Anytime attempt is made to send the form from a computer that does not have Adobe Acrobat installed, an Adobe pop-up appears saying this action is not allowed. The forms were built using Adobe 5. I now have Adobe 9 Standard. Please help!
I've checked every setting I can find. The submit button is properly set to send e-mail, save and fill rights are open, printing is allowed, I'm at a loss. Any ideas a simpleton like me can accomplish?

    Hi,
Some of the abundant forms tutorials that Adobe makes available may be helpful.
These resources provide both specific and general "how-to" which may be informative.
On February 17th Adobe's Rick Borstein will present on "Easily create and edit forms" at the AUC's eSiminar.
    http://www.acrobatusers.com/events/2118/easily-create-and-edit-forms
There are recorded forms related "on demand" eSeminars available also.
    http://www.acrobatusers.com/learning_center/eseminars_on_demand
Scroll the listings, through the several "pages".
You may find the two seminars presented by Lori DeFurio a good starting point.
    http://www.acrobatusers.com/learning_center/eseminars_on_demand?page=2
The link below is to a page with the tabs "Tutorial", "Videos", "Articles" that are specific to the topic "Forms:Acrobat"
    http://www.acrobatusers.com/topics/forms-acrobat
Another good resource is Adobe's "Online events - eSeminars" - you'd scroll the list(s) to see what is of interest.
You'll need an Adobe ID (free - and email address & password). On first use, a dialog appears for install of the Connect Pro plug-in which is needed.
You can filter the list if desired.
A listing of upcoming eSeminars is at:
    http://w1000.mv.us.adobe.com/cfusion/event/index.cfm?event=list&type=eseminar&loc=en_us
Recorded, on demand eSeminars are listed at:
    http://w1000.mv.us.adobe.com/cfusion/event/index.cfm?event=list&type=ondemand_seminar&loc= en_us
The recently recorded eSeminar "Acrobat 9 Creating and Distributing Forms" may be of interest.

  • Passing parameters to web based oracle forms

    Hi,
How can I pass parameters from web page to oracle form applet? OR is there anyway i can know (within a form) if that form is run from a client/server or from web. This is just to set some parameters depending on the condition: client/server or web application.
    thank you

To know if you are on the Web use the get_application_property built-in, check out the online help for it.
To pass parameters - if you are using the forms servlet you can pass parameters on the URL that calls your Forms application.

  • Developer Server & Web Based Forms

    Hi,
Can anyone provide any tips on improving the performance of web based developer forms?
I am currently using a static implementation in Developer 6 with Oracle Appliactions Server as the web server. Is there any advantages/disadvantages of using the cartridge based implementation versus the static implementation?
    Thanks.
    -William Ho

    William,
There will be no performance advantage over static or cartridge implementation.
If you could be a little more specific over what sort of performance problems you are seeing then I can help you more.

  • Parameter Form-How to use a user parameter to retrieve list of values for another par

I am developing a report in Reports 6i. There are 2 parameters on parameter form namely year and month.
LOV for Year is retrieved from database. After user selects a value from LOV for year, I want to retrieve another LOV for month parameter based on selected year. That is how can we use a user parameter's value to dynamically retrieve an LOV for another parameter on the same parameter form.
    Pl. guide.
    Thanks in anticipation.

You can't restrict the "List of Values" of one parameter based on the value of another parameter within the Reports Builder/Runtime parameter form.
The SQL select statements within LOV's are only executed once. They aren't re-calculated when you enter, leave or change other field values in the parameter form. This is mainly because there is no event model in the Reports parameter form and it only supports basic form functionality.
To do what you're after in a client-server environment you need to create an Oracle Forms "parameter form" and use that to execute the Report using the run_product() call. Actually, you should probably use Oracle Forms for any more generic "form" functionality such as radio buttons or check boxes.
If you're in a Web rather than Client-Server environment, it may be easier to create a JSP based parameter form. You can then use Reports 9i since it has JSP support to assist here.

  • Back to parameter form when report is executed

    Hi
Is it possible to be back to the parameter form when the report is executed?
E.g. 1 - Enter information in the parameter form,
    2 - Execute the report
3 - Back to parameter form
    4 - ....
5 - When all the reports processed, exit the report.
    Thank you all

Don't know if you can do this in reports, but we have a similar requirement on our system, and we developed a form based parameter form, rather than using the reports own. We could then run as many reports as we need from the one parameter form.

    Hi.
I am facing a problem with the parameter form in reports 10g. The number of parameters in this report are huge. After designing the parameter form , i save and close the report. Now if i re-open the report to do changes, the width and height of the parameter form is reduced (which i increased changed previously) and if i click on any field , that specific field is repositioning itself inside the (reduced)border lines.
