/MGCRC_Connection using IDC:GlobalProfile to Query Web Center Content

We are having issues getting results using the content presenter query option in Spaces, we are using the /MGCRC_Connection using IDC:GlobalProfile as told to in document http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E17904_01/webcenter.1111/e10149/content_cp.htm at Table 40-1 Specifying Query Criteria for Results of a Query but are having not success.
Does Anyone have any suguestions why it might not be working or how to trouble shoot it?

I created another test library in the document center, and another test CQWP at another sibling site and got the description to come in fine. I went back to the original document library created by default when I created the Document Center.
I noticed that there are to Description columns - one is a single line text field, the other is a multi-line text field. however, only the single line Description field is what is available to users when they upload a document or edit the properties on an
existing document item. I tried to delete one column or the other, but there is no delete option. How do I delete a column?
There are no mistakes; every result tells you something of value about what you are trying to accomplish.

Error with table 'DocMetaDefinition'.
The column 'dDecimalScale' does not exist in this table.
I am using 11.1.1.6 free version of webcenter content and using appropriate database with required tables created by RCU of appropriate version and also using required weblogic server.
Is there anything like , we are not allowed to use stand alone application in free version ? or problem is something else.

Web-center content Administration link

Hi,
Can somebody tell me how to make a normal OID user a admin so that he will be able to see "Administration" link in webcenter content server console (/cs).
The user base is OVD(OID and AD). I have follow the steps where I made a group in OID named as "WC_Admin" and assigned the Admin role within the WebLogic domain security realm to the "WC_admin" as explained in section 15.2.2.2 http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E25178_01/core.1111/e12037/oam.htm#BEJCECIC
The member of group WC_admin not able to see the "Administration" link in webcenter content server console (/cs)...is this default behavior or I need to do something else?

Hi ,
So the assumption was correct as in the role on AD itself is the root cause .
Just because a group is named WC_Admin on AD does not give it admin privileges. If you want to have some users with admin role then create a credential map on UCM and provide this map :
wc_admin , admin
Then add the map name to <domain_home>/ucm/cs/data/providers/jpsuserprovider/provider.hda file :
ProviderCredentialsMap=<CredentialMapName>
Restart the server and then users who are under wc_admin group on AD post-login will be given admin role on ucm and Administration link will be displayed .

Web Center Management Packs Activation

We are licenced the the following enterprise manager management packs: SOA Management pack enterprise edition, Webcenter management pack and Weblogic server management pack enterprise edition.
I would like to activate Webcenter Management Pack and Weblogic Server Management Packs. To do that i have "agreed" to Oracle Fusion Middleware Management Packs from the Enterprise Manage Console. I have also deployed Agents using the Enterprise Manager Push methods i.e Add Targets Manually from the Enterprise Manager Console.

./emctl upload agent execute successfully to all the target hosts wich has the web logic server, http server and web center content,imaging,capture,urm installed.
Problem
From the enterprise manager console, i am not able to see the weblogic servers, web center domains, imaging,capture etc of the target/monitored hosts. i.e agent is not able to discovery the installed web center on the target servers.
What else should i enable or install?

First, can you see the agent and host in EM? If not, then you'll need to follow these steps:
emctl secure agent
emctl start agent
emctl config agent addinternaltargets
emctl config agent listtargets
The host and agent must be "green" in EM to discover targets.   The last command listtargets will show you what the agent has "auto-discovered". Not all targets can be auto-discovered.
Did you check the Auto Discovery Results to see if the targets are waiting for promotion? If they're not there, then you might have to "manually" discover them.

Web Center Suite/Oracle Content DB

What is the role of Oracle Content Database in Webcenter Suite? Is that the default repository? I read a lot of documentation but no where it explains the connection.
We are in the process of getting a licence for the Web center Suite. As per Oracle sales rep, the license for Oracle Content Database in not included in that.
For those out there who use Web center Suite, do you plan to use Oracle Content Database? If yes, are there built-in portlets that facilitate uploading, downloading and sharing of documents with content DB?
Please advice. It's urgent. I need some inputs before I talk to the rep again.

explains the connection.Content DB is optional to WebCenter and provide most of the basic CMS features (versioning, check-in, check-out, etc...) It is integrated in JDeveloper 10.1.3.2 and you can quickly build application in conformity with Java Content Repository specification.

I keep an eye on Content DB and Content Server (ECM), the other oracle CMS solution. For the moment, I see Content DB as a more complete CMS solution, but in counterpart, I think it is less integrated with WebCenter development. But I think this point is really crucial ; which of them will be more integrated with WebCenter ! Is Content DB a lightweight version for CMS ? Will it be swallowed eventually by Content Server product line ?

Issue in upgrading from Fatwire 7.6 to web center sites 1.1.1.6

Patch upgrade from Fatwire 7.6 to Web Center sites 1.1.1.6 is failing while importing catalog elements. The database ping and csLogin test is successfully completed at 75 % of the installation. After that below mentioned exception is coming in logs which is causing installation failure. Please provide your valuable pointers to troubleshoot this issue.
Access to CATALOGDIRECTORY and ELEMENTDIRECTORY is verified. Both paths are correct with full access.

May be it is expecting wlserver_10.3 directory.
Can you try giving a link to one directory above wlserver_10.3 OR the complete path to wlserver_10.3 directory.

Web Center app with ADF Security - login problem

I have a custome Oracle Web Center app.
I have a page.html with an embedded login form posting to j_security_check. I've configured the ADF security policies to redirect to a JSPX on successful login.
When I try the correct username/password, I get redirected not to the page I defined in ADF, but to the root page http://127.0.0.1:7101/MyApp-ViewController-context-root/
and i get
Error 403--Forbidden
I've checked the weblogic.xml as per http://andrejusb.blogspot.com/2009/12/solving-error-403-forbidden-in-adf.html, all the required entries are there.
This works fine if i use a Login link with
destination="#{'/adfAuthentication?login=true&end_url=/faces/postLogin.jspx'} "
which redirects to the default login.html and then to the right page. I've copied the form from the default login.html into my master HTML page.
Hope my question is clear. Any suggestions why it is going to the wrong URL after login.
Is there anything specific I should see in the jazn-data.xml or web.xml regarding the post-login URL since i cant see that in either.

I'm trying to do away with a Login link, and trying the simple login form embedded in my page alongwith other content.
So should the form be posting to j_security_check directly or to the adfAuthentication ?

Web Center and Document Services

I have a WebCenter question for which I was hoping to get some help.
I’m developing a ADF application where I’m adding WebCenter document services to look at a local file system as the content store. Everything works fine except if the file is a movie or audio file. When this happens I get a variety of results depending on the browser and device.
When I browse to a file and I hit the download link for the file, if it is music or video it only works on Firefox and Safari. It doesn’t work on IE at all. I just get a bunch of gibberish on the screen. It also doesn’t work from any mobile device browser (IPad, IPhone, Droid).
Again, this is only when the file is music or video. Everything else is working and it works totally fine (even for music files) on Firefox and Safari.
What do you think. Is there an official list of supported file types for the Document Services on WebCenter?

I didn't write the code for the download link. I'm using the "Document Manager" service which is an out-of-the-box ADF Task flow included when you download the web-center services.

Oracle Web Center New Features Demo

Hi,
Does anybody have oracle web center new features demo?
It will be great, If you can share it.
Documentation states that, It has features like below:
New capabilities to operate on multiple assets efficiently, including bulk deletion, approval, and bookmarking. These operations are conveniently available from search results screens. Operations can be executed by selecting multiple assets and pressing a single button.
But I can not perform bulk delete asset.
Documentation also states that, It has features like Drag And Drop:
My understanding from the documentation is an asset's attributes are dragged and dropped into advanced UI. Pls correct me, If I am wrong.
Is there any demo available for drag and drop feature of oracle 11g webcenter?

New customizable dashboard: A customizable dashboard is now provided out-of-the-box. Widgets to manage assignments, bookmarks, and checkouts are included. Widgets can be rearranged on the dashboard using simple drag-and-drop, and custom widgets can be added to satisfy unique business needs.
Pls let me know, where the dashboard is available and how to implement the above mentioned features.

UCM Web center install

Hello people :
Sorry if this is not the right forum to ask.
Im stuck in the middle of Web Center installation , to be precise I'm on A.10. Specify UCM Installer Directory Screen window as described in [A Oracle WebCenter Installation Screens|http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E12839_01/install.1111/e12001/install_screens.htm#BABFHHAE] .
As you can see in there, it asks for a UCM installable directory. I downloaded Web Center from [Oracle Fusion Middleware 11g R1|http://www.oracle.com/technology/software/products/middleware/htdocs/fmw_11_download.html], but there is no directory for UCM in there.
Any ideas ? I don't want to cancel installation just in the middle :S

Well I noticed that it's neccesary to download Content Management for WebCenter (10.1.3.5.1) from [Fusion Middleware 11gR1|http://www.oracle.com/technology/software/products/middleware/htdocs/fmw_11_download.html] , extract all its contents in a local directory and then type it in the provided textbox in the wizard.
for me it was $HOME/UCM/ContentServer

Will ALUI Publisher work in Web Center 10G?

I am upgrading to 10G, anyone knows if Publisher (i.e ALUI Content) will work with Web Center???

Publisher 6.4 and 6.5 do work with WebCenter Interaction 10.3, but not WebCenter itself.
And there will be no further updates to Publisher; the functionality will be replaced UCM. The WCI statement of direction has some details about that:

When you install WebCenter Suite you install next components:
- WC_Spaces: That includes the pre-built WebCenter Portal : Spaces application. You can use this application to build secured spaces / portals and start developing in it. The question is... you need WebCenter Spaces or Portal??.
- WC_Collaboration: For discussions and announcements.
- WC_Utilities: Analytics and more utilities.
- WC_Portelts: For portlets WSRP 2.0.
If you need to work with a Custom Portal Application you need to extend the domain for WebCenter Portal:
WC_CustomPortal: For a WebCenter Custom Portal Application.
If you already installed WebCenter Suite access to http://[host]:[WC_SpacesPort]/webcenter to access WebCenter Spaces.
There are a lot of information / tutorials in the official and unoffical web sites.
In addition, if you want Content Management you should install WebCenter Content.
