Web Dispatcher Settings

Hello,
We have portal nw'04 SP15 with KMC. The following is the landscape.
DB on db node
CI on ci node
app1 and app2 on seperate nodes
We are accessing the portal using "SAP Web Dispatcher"
When i access the portal through dispatcher and access the server group monitoring in the dispatcher admin, i notice that the requests are distributed in a weighted-round robin fashion between CI, app1 and app2.
My Question:
Is it possible to configure the web-dispatcher in a way that all user requests are only redirected to the application servers. No requests should be forwarded to the CI, CI (message server) should only be used for distributing the configuration to web dispatcher and load balancing.
Regards,
Chetan

Hi
URL to configure SAP Web dispatcher groups. Just define which App server Dispatchers you wish to set up..
http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/87/252c4142aef623e10000000a155106/frameset.htm
Hope this helps

  • Need help in web dispatcher settings for redirect

    Hello All!
I need to redirect users from one URL (http://webdispatch:port1/abc/efg) to another (http://host2:port2/abc/efg) but URL in browser must stay unchanged (http://webdispatch:port1/abc/efg) after redirect. As I think server should get requested URL from browser, internally redirect to URL #2 and send response of URL #2 to browser.
I've set up Web Dispatcher for redirecting by using parameter icm/HTTP/redirect_0, but now URL in browser is changing with http://host2:port2/abc/efg
    icm/HTTP/redirect_0 = PREFIX=/,FOR=webdispatch:,FROM=/sap/bc/webdynpro/sap/zwd_rep,HOST=host2,PORT=port2
    How I can do it?
    Helpful answers will be appreciated
    Regards, Lev

    Thanks for your replies.
I've tried to comment wdisp/permission_table parameter but it had no effect. And it seems that I've made a mistake: I forgot to comment icm/HTTP/redirect_0 while tested work of icr file.
    I have:
    web dispatcher at webdisp_host:1090
host with ABAP+Java instance at inst_host
    icm/HTTP/redirect_0 commented
    use icr file:
    >Version 1.0
    >SYS
    >J2EE crmdev.oao.sng 8010 DIA=2
At inst_host I has two apps:
    /b2b_sng/ ( inst_host:50000/b2b_sng/ )
    and /sap/bc/* ( inst_host:8010/sap/bc/webdynpro/* )
    webdisp_host:1090/b2b_sng/ works fine.
    webdisp_host:1090/sap/bc/webdynpro/* don't work:

    Slava,
    > 8010 is probably an HTTP message server port.
I think no since inst_host:8010/sap/bc/webdynpro/* working fine.
    Parameters
    > rdisp/mshost = crmdev.oao.sng
    > ms/http_port = 8010
has been already added into profile, but http_port = 8101 instead 8010

  • Web Dispatcher Not forwading XML document to SAP XI

    Hi Everyone,
We have a web dispatcher that is accepting an HTTP Post over SSL and forwarding this connection to our SAP XI system. Our client post to the box and we see the ssl information in the log and then a string of information about connecting to our J2EE Engine where XI resides.

    Hi
Did you  check the connectivity i.e web  dispatcher with any other system(LandScape).
    For example CRM for FICO.
    Thanks

    wdisp/enable_j2ee_groups = TRUE
    wdisp/HTTPS/sticky_mask = 255.255.255.255
In my Web dispatcher Admin page, I see all the three application servers, however the requests are going to only 1 App server. We are using ENd to End SSL configuration for the web dispatcher.
We also have a reverse proxy in the landscape and reverse proxy is forwarding all the requests to the Web dispatcher. In Web disp Admin page>Dispatching Module>SSL End to END dispatching, I see only ONE table entry in the dispatching table and it is our Reverse Proxy.
As all the requests are coming from only one source (Reverse proxy), it seems to me that the sap web dispatcher  is forwarding those to the same Application server every time.
    Can anyone please advise ?
I also tried to configure logon group in NWA, the web dispatcher is detecting the logon group and all the app servers in the logon group. It still not doing the load balancing.
I would greatly appreciate any help.
    Thanks
    Viny

Vincent, can you please elaborate more ?  Is the web dispatcher not able to recognize stateful and stateless application requests ?
I saw that the procedure for configuring SSL Termination on Web dispatcher is long and complicated and looks like SAP web dispatcher needs to have SSL certificate of its own. As we have no ABAP servers and only Java servers, I can not even create the PSEs using STRUST (as described in SAP help -http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw70ehp1/helpdata/en/48/99c388d7c46bb9e10000000a42189d/frameset.htm
We already have SSL certificates for Java App servers.
I suppose there should be a way for web dispatcher to identify the incoming requests and forward to appropriate application servers.
    Any help is much appreciated.
    Thanks

  • SAP Web Dispatcher does not start as windows service

    Hi,
I have successfully installed and configured SAP Web Dispatcher. When I start the web dispatcher from command prompt, it works fine. I created a windows service for web dispatcher using the command
    ntscmgr install sapwebdisp -b "c:\program files\sap\sapwebdisp\sapwebdisp.exe"
    -p "service pf=sapwebdisp.pfl -cleanup -auto_restart"
The command successfully created sapwebdisp service. The service also starts fine, but web dispatcher does not get started.
    Any ideas experts?

    Hi,
    Ok. Few suggestions.
    1. Can you review the SAP note:
552286  Troubleshooting for the SAP Web Dispatcher
    2. When you said: "web dispatcher does not get started ", what error you got ? Can you be more details here ?
    3. Please check the trace file dev_webdisp" that generated in the work directory. If the log entries is not abvious, increase the trace level to 2 or 3, and reproduce and re-check the trace file.
    4. What is the output of the command "sapwebdisp -v"
    5. How about sapwebdisp.pfl ? Are those settings correct ?
    Hope this helps.
    Regards,
    Vincent

  • Web Dispatcher configured but not working

    Hi,
We wish to configure SAP Web Dispatcher as a reverse proxy. For this we've installed using sapinst SAP Web Dispatcher Version 7.00.11, multithreaded, ASCII, 64 BIT Patch Level 140 which was manally updated to SAP Web Dispatcher Version 7.10.1, multithreaded, ASCII, 64 BIT Patch Level 152.
The SAP Web Dispatcher server is in DMZ whereas the Enterprise Portal servers are in the intranet.
The updated SAP Web Dispatcher is available in /sapmnt/<SID>/exe and not in a seperate directory (/usr/sap/<SID>/sapwebdisp) as per SAP note 908097. The SAP Web Dispatcher has been installed on a standalone machine with instance number 00.
I've configured the Sap Web dispatcher with the -bootstrap option. The -checkconfig option completes with 0 warning 0 errors.
The TCP ports between SAP Web Dispatcher and Enterprise Portal servers are opened in the firewall. Also, required ports 22 & 8100 are opened from my computer to the SAP Web Dispatcher Server.
Yet when I try to connect to the administrator interface with the URL http://<Web_Disp_IP>:8100/sap/wdisp/admin/default.html, I receive the following text on the browser:
    Network Error (tcp_error)
A communication error occurred: "Operation timed out"
The Web Server may be down, too busy, or experiencing other problems preventing it from responding to requests. You may wish to try again at a later time.
Similar message is received even if the SAP Web Dispatcher is installed in a seperate directory.
Has anyone come across a similar issue?
    Thanks.

  • SAP Web dispatcher not forwarding incoming HTTP portal sessions.

    Hello,
We are using an EP6 Portal from which Abap Web dynpros are launched. The incoming http sessions were accessing our backend ECC6 SAP system through the sap server message . The http sessions were badly dispatched between the two abap servers. We have been advised by SAP to use the sap web dispatcher instead.
The sap web dispatcher has been correctly installed and configured (on the central abap instance ).
I have carefully read the SAP help section concerning the server selection using the sap web dispatcher :
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04s/helpdata/en/5f/7a343cd46acc68e10000000a114084/frameset.htm
All our settings seem to be OK :
The incoming HTTP requests are forwarded to abap servers only.
*In transaction SICF, all the services under the tree
sap/public/icf_info have been assigned to the same logon group .
The capacity of the two servers included in the logon
group " is the same :
    server40 LB=12
    server60 LB=12
In the Web interface, capacity equal "1" for the two servers.
    wdisp/load_balancing_strategy=  weighted_round_robin
In the SAP web interface, the prefered server is ALWAYS the same :
    Status of Server Group "LOADIS"
    Loadbalancing Information
Number of Servers in this group 2
    Last used Server
    Preferred next Server server40_SPA_10
But it seems that the sap web dispatcher is not used at ALL.
The Load distribution is still based on the SMLG workload as it was the case, before, with the sap message server. The information displayed in the web interface (preferred server) is wrong.
The Preferred next Server is ALWAYS server40_SPA_10 (shown in the web interface), but, in fact, the http sessions are distributed between the two servers server60_SPA_00 and server40_SPA_10 depending on the server quality diplayed in transaction smlg. It was exactly the same behaviour we had before, only with the sap server message .
Any useful help would be highly appreciated.
    Best Regards.

    Hi,
firstly, have you checked note 1094342? What variant do you want to use? Do you terminate a SSL connection on web dispatcher and create a new one between web dispatcher and application server? It looks like the web dispatcher can't verify SSL certificate used by application server. Maybe you've already tried this but you can try to turn off SSL between dispatcher and application server. If this setup works then problem is in SSL connection. You can check what host name is used in SSL certificate and what host name is used by dispatcher. You can use parameter wdisp/ssl_certhost which sets host name which will be used for certificate validation.
    Cheers

  • Web Dispatcher - Portal & Backend systems load balancing

    Good Day,
I am currently in the process of setting up a web dispatcher for the Backend systems via the Portal.
I have already installed a web dispatcher to handle the Portal load balancing and this works perfect.
The SAP system landscape will be created using load balancing, currently it is set to Dedicated.
    Question:
Do i change the ITS and WAS settings to point to the web dispatcher or leave them currently pointing to the backend systems?
    ITS = hostname :8000
    WAS = hostname : 8000
    Many thanks,
    Morgan Moodley

    Hi Morgan,
You point them at the web dispatcher.

  • SAP Web Dispatcher in a high availability environment

    Hello, guys
We are working in a CRM 7.0 implementation Project. Our system landscape is the following:
       - Two hosts (host1 & host2) on MSCS cluster (Windows 2008) with SQL Server and ASCS in high availability. Additional, this MSCS cluster has a instance of SAP Web Dispatcher.
       - In these two host weu2019ve installed a CI & DI instance, outside of high availability scope
       - Two additional hosts (host3 & host4) with one dialog instance in every host
We have severe problems with communication between SAP Web Dispatcher and ICM components. Our configuration schema is the next:
       - ASCS (MSCS_virtual_hostname):
    ms/server_port_0 = PROT=HTTP,PORT=8141
    SAPLOCALHOSTFULL = <MSCS_virtual_hostname>.<domain>
       - IC (host1)
    icm/server_port_0 = PROT=HTTP,PORT=8040,TIMEOUT=90,PROCTIMEOUT=600
    icm/host_name_full = <host1>.<domain>

    icm/server_port_0 = PROT=HTTP,PORT=8046,TIMEOUT=90,PROCTIMEOUT=600
    icm/host_name_full = <host4>.<domain>

  • Remote Connection to SAP with SAP Web Dispatcher

    Dear Experts,
i have installed a SAP Router + SAP ECC 6.0 IDES + SAP Portal 7.0 + SAP Solution Manager 7.0. The remote connection works.
SAP Router is in a DMZ
SAP ECC 6.0 IDES + SAP Portal 7.0 + SAP Solution Manager 7.0 are in another network only for SAP Systems
Fo security reason, i would like to install a SAP Webdispatcher with the SAP Router's Server.
    I already:
    have extracted the icmadmin.sar file
have executed the sapwebdisp -bootstrap command
have started the web dispatcher with sapwebdisp pf=sapwebdisp.pfl
have activated /sap/public/icman and /sap/public/icf_info/* services inthe SAP Solution Manager
As the saprouttab file for the saprouter, i would like to establish the connection to SAP withe the SAP WebDispatcher.
    My questions are:
What are the parameters i have to put in the sapwebdisp.pfl file?
Do i have to create the PERMFILE and the AUTHFILE?
Any example of profil file? (another than the SAP Library example)
Thank you very much for your help in advance.
    Best regards.
    Pascal Tran.
PS: Here is the sapwebdisp.pfl file

    Hello,
The two important paramters are covered in your profile.
    Accessibility of Message Servers
    rdisp/mshost = <Solution_Manager_hostanme>
    rdisp/msserv = sapms<Solution_Manager_SID>
    ms/http_port = 81<Solution_Manager_Instance_Number>
And the port on which your webdispatcher listens from outside world.
    icm/server_port_0 = PROT=HTTP,PORT=8050
For additional security you can use the https port also.
I dont think you need to maintain any other file manually.
I had configured web dispatcher but for 640 stack. It should be more or less the same.
    An example file sapwebdisp.pfl

  • Web Dispatcher medium / large configuration

When we install web dispatcher, we are given an option for creating configuration for system of size medium / large...
There is a system installed as medium and I am looking it to adjust for large number of users..
Any help on what parameters will I have to change ?
    icm/max_conn =
    icm/max_sockets =
    icm/req_queue_len =
    icm/min_threads =
    icm/max_threads =
    mpi/total_size_MB =
    mpi/max_pipes =
Apart from these, is the any other setting (not only parameter) that should be changed.. memory related etc ?

    Hi Jay,
Parameter Settings Dependent on System Size
Depending on which system size you have chosen (s, m or l), different parameter values are written to the profile file. The table below contains these different values.
    Parameters                  Small (s)           medium         large
    icm/max_conn          100                   500                   16384
    icm/max_sockets      1024                 1024                16384
    icm/req_queue_len    300                   500                 6000
    icm/min_threads       5                       10                   100
    icm/max_threads      15                      50                       250
    mpi/total_size_MB   100                    500                2000
Please change the above setting in parameter value
