Web dynpro dc compoent controller method call from Java dc class file

Hi All,
Is it possible to call a wd java component controller method from a java dc class file?
I have declared wd java dc as used dc in java dc.Any poiters for the same would be really helpful.
Thanks in Advance.
regards
Radhika Kuthiala

Hi,
short answer: No.
1. using WD references outside of WD DCs is unsupported and will at least show a warning when you try to deploy. Correct usage of runtime dependencies is not predictable.
2. WebDynpro Controllers have a lifecycle that is controlled by the Framework. Even if you manage to initialize a Controller via "new" and use a method, the Controller will never have all the state-information it contains when started regualary. (think of mapped context, context attributes in general, code called in wdInit ...) I would suppose it is possible to implement a runnable low-profile example that still works, but as soon as you try to use "higher" concepts of WD (which would be the only reason to use a WD Component Controller at all), you will definitely fail.
3. Think of it as calling EJBs Session Beans via "new", but more complex.
hope that helps

  • RFC call from java webdynpro

    Hi,
    I'm creating a Java Webdynpro where I call RFC's from SAP.
    For the images in the webdynpro, I call the standard SAP function 'CVAPI_DOC_VIEW'
    When I execute the function in SAP, I get the url to the contentserver with the correct image.
    After calling the same function in my Java Webdynpro, the url is empty.
    I've checked the importing parameters after calling from webdynpro and SAP and they are the same.
    After debugging, I saw that the function 'CVAPI_DOC_VIEW' is the problem. He's exporting an empty url after calling from the webdynpro.
    Does anybody knows the possible fault and solution for my problem?

    I'm not an ABAPer but the last time I've dealt with DMS from Web Dynpro an ABAPer wrote a custom function that gets the file content (XSTRING) by sending DMS parameters (documenttype, documentnumber, documentversion, documentpart).
    After getting the XSTRING from my Web Dynpro Java, I convert it to byte[] and created URL by using WDResourceFactory.
    Hope it helps...

  • Duration of an Abap Function call from Java using Jco3

    Hi guys!
    I would like to use this discussion to get some refernces of the duration Timespan of an RFC call from Java to SAP. At the moment, i need at last about 200ms to call the Abap function. I'm just using one simple import and export parameter (so no deep structures). I think that the reason for my poor performance is, that the Java Tool and the SAP instance are not in the same network. So, i hope some of you have some data, how fast an RFC call from Java using Jco can be executed.
    greetings, Hannes

    Hi Hannes,
    I think you have already got the answer to your question - the network set-up you have is probably the bottleneck.  Whenever I've worked with Java <-> ABAP and they are in the same network, I've had no performance problems at all.
    Does your RFC contain any complex logic or business processes?  Are you able to try and call something that does nothing, say it just accepts an input string and returns it straight away as an export.  Do you have any scope for testing with your Java tool on the same network as the SAP system?
    Cheers,
    G.

  • How can i measure BAPI runtime which has called from JAVA

    Hi abapers
    how can i get run time for BAPI called from JAVA through JCO.
    i know that i can use SE30 from ABAP by executing from SAP.
    may be ST05 useful for me i did it but when display trace
    i am getting big list by seeing this list i am not able to find the runtime for that BAPI.
    please any one can explain
    reagdrs
    ramesh

    Hi Ramesh,
       Irrespective of whether the call is from an external system or within sap, the bapi will be executed in R/3 only.
    So, you can safely measure the runtime using se30 only.
    If it is taking more time when called from JCo , then you can be sure that the problem is not with SAP and is actually due to the JCo connectivity with R/3.

  • Generate IDL from Java Code, Classes, UML, etc?

    Hi,

    Thanks,

    Hi,
    is is possible to generate IDL code from Java Code, Classes, UML, ... using JDeveloper?
    I know this is somewhat reverse engeneering, but it would speed up the migration of our existing Java project...Unfortunately it does not. The IDL to Java conversion is handled under the covers by the idl2java.exe included with the database. You might want to search on google for a IDL generator from java source.
    java2iiop (another tool) just generates IIOP stubs from classes and interfaces, but I don't think it creates IDL.

    Hi Pete,
    your problem is that the method texture you are trying to find does not exist. If you look carefully at your declaration of the method signature in the GetMethodID call you will see "([Ljava/lang/String;)V" which is trying to find a method that accepts a String array as its parameter. Remove the [ from the method signature and it should work ok. You might want to test text (jmethodID) for NULL or 0 before trying to call it as well.

  • Clarification on application method calls from backing bean.

    Hi Experts ,
    In our application we are using two different ways to call application module methods from backing bean.
    allication module method name : addRowValidUnitInfo
    it has 2 parameters serialNumber,modelNumber
    1.
    BindingContainer bindings1 =
    BindingContext.getCurrent().getCurrentBindingsEntry();
    OperationBinding serialModelDetails =
    bindings1.getOperationBinding("addRowValidUnitInfo");
    serialModelDetails.getParamsMap().put("serialNumber",
    serialNumber.getValue().toString());
    serialModelDetails.getParamsMap().put("modelNumber",
    modelNumber.getValue().toString());
    serialModelDetails.execute();
    String result =serialModelDetails.getResult().toString();
    2.
    EWarrantyAdminModule appModule =(EWarrantyAdminModule)
    Configuration.createRootApplicationModule(amDef,config);
    try {
    String result = appModule.addRowValidUnitInfo(serialNumber.getValue().toString(), modelNumber.getValue().toString());
    } catch (Exception e) {
    finally {
    Configuration.releaseRootApplicationModule(appModule,true);
    Can any one tell me which one gives best performance and which one should be used in which situations.
    For me both are working fine but just want to know whcih is the best practice and which gives best performance.
    Regards
    Gayaz

    The approach 1 is the right way.
    Reasons:
    1) With Approach 2 - you are creating new ApplicationModule on the fly and release it at the end of the request. If you are invoking multiple method calls, you need to the same for each & every call.
    This is not reusing the existing application module.
    2) If the use cases which does calls for maintaining state across requests from the same client - across the application flow, Approach 2 cannot be used.
    Read this blog post from Jobinesh (which indirectly distinguishes both these approaches).

    No.  The button was disabled because the underlying framework support hasn't been delivered yet.  We need this feature implemented in the underlying JavaScript engine (which customers/partners shouldn't attempt to change or extend) before Web Dynpro can use it.

  • Sending java web dynpro interactive form as pdf attachment from Business WF

    Hi,
    I have a java web dynpro application with interactive form(online), on send button click i need to send the filled form as an PDF attchment to internet mail id. I am using SO_NEW_DOCUMENT_ATT_SEND_API1 inside workflow to send attachment. My custom RFC which is interacting with WD app is getting the pdf source context attribute(simply i set the import parameter with that attribute and no juggling is done) as import parameter which  is of type XTSRING. Once i execute the application i am getting mail with attachment as pdf but i am not able to open the pdf. It is of just 1 KB size. It seems my pdf source context attribute is not sending data. Can some one suggest how can i solve this.DO i need to convert the data to pdf format before sending or any otgher thing i need to do.
    Regards
    Ravindra

    I did that before posting the question itself (enables = false), it doesn't work. It just disable the extra features like digital signature and stuff.  Interesting thing is all our HCM forms developed for HR actions works fine with out any issues. Why the interactive form developed with WDJ is not working and it requires credentials??. The same form works fine if I deploy the application directly into server but it throws the error if I check in through NWDI ..
    If you look at the server location it has the file but it throws the error:

    Hi Again
    U can go for StreamTokenizer in java.io
    this is useful for tokenizing a Stream based on delimiters
    It has Two Cons for both Type of Streams either Char or Bin
    public java.io.StreamTokenizer(java.io.InputStream);
    public java.io.StreamTokenizer(java.io.Reader);
    The StreamTokenizer class takes an input stream and parses it into "tokens", allowing the tokens to be read one at a time. The parsing process is controlled by a table and a number of flags that can be set to various states. The stream tokenizer can recognize identifiers, numbers, quoted strings, and various comment styles.
    U hav to invoke a method called nextToken Form which u will get a token which can be compared to find wether it is a word or character ....using the constanrs avlbl in StreamTokenizer class
    TT_WORD indicates that the token is a word.
    TT_NUMBER indicates that the token is a number.
    TT_EOL indicates that the end of line has been read. The field can only have this value if the eolIsSignificant method has been called with the argument true.
    TT_EOF indicates that the end of the input stream has been reached
