Brilliant, works like a charm. Thanks very much, Nickels55!
Is there a way I can add something like your
"vidcontrol._visible=
false;" to the "Mojaveexternalall.swf" skin as well? Right
now if I
click on the big arrow, everything works fine, but if I click
on the
Mojaveexternalall's small Play arrow instead, that new button
layer
doesn't disappear.

  • Creating a Flash version of a HTML/CGI Form

    Hello: I have a Flash webpage where I visually designed a Form. I have not been able to find how to give My form the generic capabilities of an HTML/CGI Submit-able Form. For clarity, I included (below) my Form code for my HTML Webpage. If someone has a block of ActionScript 3 code that has the mention abilities, could you please post a reply ? ... or, is there a more common method of importing my existing HTML/CGI form into my Flash website ? • Large form set: Deliver in portfolio, or build one big PDF?

    Greetings, all--
    I am using LiveCycle to recreate a set of 24 or so forms that were originally built in Word. My users download the forms, complete them on their desktops, then print and submit the forms in hard copy. Most users are not tech savvy. The forms must be very easy for them to access, open, navigate, and print. Most also function within severe hardware limitations (slow Internet connections, old machines, etc.). On my end, I have a rusty at best command of scripting and am new to LiveCycle. I know what I want my forms to do but am very slow at figuring out how to make those things happen.
    I am working first to decide on how to deliver these forms. It looks like I will have to build one big PDF to get the form behavior I want (autopopulation of like fields, field calculation, etc.). Does that sound right? Or is it possible to set up each file as a separate PDF and package them in a portfolio and still get cross-file behavior like auto field population, sequential page numbering, etc.?
    Any feedback on setting up big set of files would be much appreciated.
    Thank you,
    Virginia

    Hi,
    For what it is worth...
    First of all consider what version of Acrobat/Reader the user population will have. Improved functionality comes with each new version. So you might end up including features in your form that won't work on the users' PC. In LC Designer 8.2 you are able to define the target version (in File/Form Properties/Defaults) and then check in the Warnings tab to make sure that the form will run OK in that version (eg no warnings);
    If people don't have to save the form (or the data that they have typed in) then you don't have to worry about Reader Enabling the form. This gives the ability to users with Reader to save that (Reader Enabled) form. Useful if they are filling in the same form regurarly.
    The implementation of Portfolios in version 9 is very good. However if users have older versions of Acrobat/Reader then it will revert to the previous implementation of Packages (less graphical) and users will get warning messages.
    Keeping the forms separate will help performance; but may make it more difficult for users to locate the correct form. Creating one large form in LC is possible (and will make it very easy to share values across the 24 forms becuase they will be in the one XFA PDF); however if each form has multiple pages and there is dynamic hide/visible script then performance may be a problem. If the form is static (eg does not grow) then performance will not be as badly affected with the single form approach.
    There is a work around to get forms to talk to each other (whether in a portfolio or not), but it requires a good bit of scripting and a cool head.
    In summary, if you are working with static forms that will not grow (fields not extending to accomodate overflowing text) then I would go with one form.
    You can always develop the single form for the time being and then at a later stage break it out into 24 separate forms.
    Good luck,
    Niall

    Also I can't figure out how to do a flash pulldown list as a

    are no "smartclips" in my Flash CS3. I see other things in

    is there some way I could use an "expression" to subtract the

    If so, does anyone have an example of the context I would used to

  • Flash Form emergency

    I am facing a difficult problem. I have multiple forms within
    a flash website that are passed to PHP. All works as normal in that
    regard. However, on 2 of the forms there is a problem which is
    driving me crazy!!!
    The form is normal, input text with variable names and a
    submit button. The problem is that the variable being passed to PHP
    includes all sorts of text formatting options, like this (this is
    the name field, I entered my name and traced the variable and get
    this result) -
    <P ALIGN="LEFT"><FONT FACE="_sans" SIZE="9"
    COLOR="#000000" LETTERSPACING="0"
    KERNING="0">Andrew</FONT></P>
    On another form in the website there is no problem, the
    variable passed is clean.
    Please help, I have tried everything.

    Hi,
    Thanks for your reply, I thought of that and turned them all
    off.
    I even went as far as to put:
    inputfieldName_txt.html = false;
    for all the fields.
    I read elsewhere this is something to do with assigning
    variable names in Flash 8 and that I should not do that? ANy
    ideas?

  • Flash form error, can't use the same name more than once? need workaround

    I've always written my forms to have multiple buttons, one
    for updating and one for deleting. so in html I would do this:
    <input type=submit name=action value=Update>
    <input type=submit name=action value=Delete>
    so I'm trying the same thing with flash forms in cold fusion:
    <cfinput label="Update" name="action" type="submit"
    value="Update">
    <cfinput label="Delete" name="action" type="submit"
    value="Delete">
    but now I get this message:
    2 Errors found.
    Error /index.cfm:334
    id 'action' was already defined on line 333
    Error /index.cfm:335
    id 'action' was already defined on line 333
    Is there a way to make this work or do I have to either
    create a special action_delete or a new form? I'd like to keep the
    logic the way I like.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks,
    John

    I was hoping to do logic like this
    <cfparam name="action" default="list">
    <cfif action equal "list">
    <cfelseif action equal "update">
    <cfelseif action equal "detail">
    <cfelseif action equal "delete">
    </cfif>
    So I just converted everything to html and things work the
    way I like. thanks anyway. The forms don't really buy me anything.

  • Help with Radio Buttons & Combo Box for Flash Form that sends email

    I'm having a bit of a hard time with a Flash form that I'm working on.
    I've got the basic text fields working fine, but I'm not sure how to retrieve the values from the Radio Button and Menu List components.
    The PHP script pulls the values from the text fields with:
    $contact_name = $_POST['name'];
    $contact_email = $_POST['email'];
    $contact_subject = $_POST['subject'];
    but using
    $radioGroup = $_POST['radioGroup'];
    doesn't retrieve the selected radio button value.
    The radio buttons have a groupName of "radioGroup". The combo box component doesn't even show up in the HTML version, but does in the .swf.
    Can anyone point me in the correct direction to pull these values from these components and get them passed to the PHP form? The native .FLA and the php file are here for reference:
    http://dl.getdropbox.com/u/21984/flashform.zip
    My solution needs to be ActionScript 2.
    Thanks!

    again, you assign a variable.  the selected radiobutton's data and/or label isn't going to magically be sent to the php file.
    for example, if you have sendLV and receiveLV loadvars instances, you can use:
    sendLV.rbData=yourradiogroup.selection.data;
    sendLV.yourothervariables=yourothervariables;
    sendLV.sendAndLoad("yourphp.php",receiveLV,"POST");

  • Submitting only part of a Flash form's data - possible?

    So, in this app that I'm building, it would be REALLY handy
    to be able to process select portions of the Flash form. It's
    essentially an app with a couple of smaller sub-apps contained
    within; think of something like a CRM app. Is it possible to only
    submit the data from, say, a cfgrid element?
    Thanks

  • Guide Builder in Designer 8.2.1 not recognizing Flash 10

    Hi,
    I am attempting to open Guide Builder from Adobe Designer 8.2.1.3144.1.471865 and I am getting the following error:
    You must install the Adobe Flash Player 9 control to use Guide Builder.
    The latest Flash Player Active X control can be downloaded from http://www.adobe.com/go/getflashplayer.
    Now the thing is, I have flash 10 installed on my PC, and I also gone to the download site listed, and got the latest flash player.  Which is again Flash 10. It's obvious that something is wrong here.
    I've also found an old copy of Flash 9 in my downloads directory.  I ran that, then tried running Guide Builder again... same problem.  I tried opening Guide Builder up with a new form.  Same problem.
    Is there another patch I need to install, or do I have to roll back somehow to Flash 9?
    Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
    Regards,
    Steve

    I am using SP2 and I just started getting the problem too.  I have both Flashs installed 9 and 10.  Guide Builder will not open and errors that I need Flash 9 installed although it is already there...  HELP

  • Passing value from child to parent (flash form)

    Dear all,
    I have 2 pages (both flash form): First.cfm (parent) and
    Second.cfm (child).
    In First.cfm, I have a textbox and a button. Once I click the
    button it will load the Second page.
    In Second.cfm, I have a button. Both pages are still active.
    Now the question is .. when I click the button on the Second
    page, how to pass the value back to the First page and assign it to
    my textbox in my First page? I want the value to be displayed in my
    textbox without reloading the First page.

    You address the parent from the child using:
    this._parent.sMyVariableName = "whatever";
    Remove '_spamkiller_' to mail
