Web dynpro URL in external Portal

Hi Friends,
when I call the web dynpro in portal iview the url is.
http://server:8002/sap/bc/webdynpro/sap/zfind_material like the application server
in the intranet.
But when I call from external this URL does not work.
How can I adapt the URL for external use?
Thanks for you help.

Hi,
Yes that's right. Externally you cannot resolve the internal server host name. You will need to setup a secure reverse proxy that does URL rewriting in order to turn an external URL into the internal one after you have navigated the firewall and proxy. Check on SDN for information about implementing an external portal. There is a lot of information that should help you.

  • NW2004s: Assigning a custom theme to a web dynpro running in the portal

    The situation is as follows:
    Some web-dynpros (for java) have a custom theme, a theme which is <b>not</b> the default theme of the portal or  the default theme for web-dynpros in general.
    In NW2004 this worked as follows:
    When starting a web-dynpro in the portal it checked if it was started with the right theme. If <b>not</b> the exit plug of the WD interface view was called with an Url of the WD application plus a parameter for the right theme.
    This is the famous parameter sap-cssurl.
    For that parameter there are some values possible:
    1) sap-cssurl=http://<host>:<port>/irj/portalapps/com.sap.portal.design.urdesigndata/themes/portal/mytheme
    2) sap-cssurl=http://<host>:<port>/irj/portalapps/com.sap.portal.design.portaldesigndata/themes/portal/mytheme
    3) sap-cssurl=http://<portal>:<host>/webdynpro/resources/sap.com/tcwddispwda/global/SSR/themes/mytheme
    The first 2 are locations of the portal environment, the last one is a location of the WD runtime environment.
    As I noticed this must be a full qualified absolute Url including host and port.
    This works in NW2004 for web dynpro's running standalone <b>AND</b> in the portal.
    Now for NW2004s:
    The 3 variants of the parameter sap-cssurl work for web dynpro's running standalone.
    But now for web dynpro's which are integrated in the portal:
    The exit-plug with an Url is not possible anymore, this leads to the runtime error:
    <i>com.sap.tc.webdynpro.services.exceptions.WDRuntimeException: Exit-Plug must no be triggered with an URL when running in portal. Use portal navigation instead to navigate to another application!</i>
    Okay, as a first workaround I tried the portal navigation,
    but somehow the supplied parameter sap-cssurl has no effect.
    The code for that in the on-startup plug of the WD component:
    WDPortalNavigation.navigateAbsolute(
      PCD_ID,
      WDPortalNavigationMode.SHOW_INPLACE,
      null,
      null,
      WDPortalNavigationHistoryMode.NO_HISTORY,
      null,
      null,
      "theme_set=X&" + theme,
       theme,
       false,
       true
    I used there absolute portal navigation and the  parameter (sap-cssurl=...) is part of the <b>launcher parameter</b> and the <b>business parameter</b> in the call to <b>WDPortalNavigation.navigateAbsolute</b>.
    But as I wrote above, this has no effect on the theme.
    In the I-View the parameter "Supply portal theme" is set to <b>NO</b>, otherwise the parameter "sap-cssurl" is supplied twice (this can be seen in the poroperties of the web-page in Internet Explorer).
    What I tried afterwards was setting the parameter sap-cssurl hardcoded in the "Application parameters" of the I-View. This doesn't work either.
    My question is: Should this be anyway possible for a NW2004s portal?
    Did anyone successfully implement this?
    Kind regards,
                Erich Lind

    Hi Erich,
    I am facing the same problem. I am on 04 s and couldnot implement the custom theme to a web dynpro running in the portal. When I run the web dynpro app as stand alone, the custom theme applies fine. But when in portal, it takes the standard theme.
    Was wondering if you figured this out.
    Thanks

  • What is the Web Dynpro tab on the portal page?

    Newbie here...
    I am confused between NDWS and the Web Dynpro tab on the portal page.  As I don't have access to either right now, I need to know what is required by a Portal Content Admin to maintain an application.  The Basis people do the JCO setup.  Those are the only tabs I have seen when using the Web Dynpro tab from the portal, not NDWS.  Seeing as I don't have access to either tool, and I have to ask for what I need and I don't know what I need...  Been there?
    I guess my question is the use of the two tools.
    Thanks,
    Amy Smith
    Haworth, Inc.

    Thanks so much for a quick response!
    So, the Web Dynpro Content Admin is normally a part of the content admin role.  Hmm... I get a "you are not authorized" when I click that tab, even though I can do iViews, etc. and was told I have the content admin role.  So if no one edited the rights of the content admin, I should be able to get into Web Dynpro Content Admin tool.  Is this so?  Is there any special user config, check box, etc in addition to the role?
    Is the Dynpro content admin tool useful for content admins or content developers?
    My Basis person does not want the content admin to be able to change JCO settings.  Is there a way to give the content admin rights to everything in the WDCA   except that?
    Thanks again.  I am a J2EE developer who volunteered to take content admin and content development roles and am trying to figure out what has been done here and what needs to be done.  On top of that anyone who has been involved claims "I know nothing..."  until I ask specific questions.  It's just hard to know what the specific questions are.
    I know, training...  No money. Sigh...  I am good at doing tutorials and reading manuals and experimenting, however, I need access to the right tools and permissions first.
    Thanks again.

  • Submit Web Dynpro form to external URL

    Is there a way to submit a Web Dynpro form to an external url using the POST method?
    I am able to use the onExit plug to pass a URL and submit query string parameters to the external url.  My concern with this solution though is that the query string has length limits in different browsers (IE 2048 chars, etc.).
    Any help/direction would be great.

    Hi
    You can create a html page as a web resource and write an active script in it so that it submits itself.
    I am not sure if it will work. But give it a try.
         StringBuffer sb = new StringBuffer();
         sb.append("<html>");
         sb.append("<head>");
         sb.append("<SCRIPT LANGUAGE="JavaScript">");
         sb.append("function submitForm(){");
         sb.append("document.form.submit();");
         sb.append("}");
         sb.append("</script>");
         sb.append("</head>");
         sb.append("<body onload="submitForm()">");
         sb.append("<form method=post action="Your_Active_Script" name="form">");
          Similarly append body of the form
             Which might include hidden parameters
         sb.append("</form>");
         sb.append("</html>");
         IWDCachedWebResource webResource = WDWebResource.getWebResource(sb.toString().getBytes(),WDWebResourceType.HTML);
         try {
              wdComponentAPI.getWindowManager().createExternalWindow(webResource.getURL(),"Some Title",false).open();
         } catch (WDURLException e) {
              // TODO Auto-generated catch block

  • EREC: theme for Web Dynpro ABAP pages (external candidate)

    Hello,
    I have created a custom theme in the SAP Netweaver Portal for my customer and now I have the requirement to use the same theme for my stand-alone Web Dynpro ABAP applications (pages for the external candidate). Is it possible to use the same stylesheet as in the portal, without having to recreate a theme?
    I tried several options, but none of them did work:
    A. Downloading the portal theme as a ZIP file and then uploading it in ERP using the report BSP_UPDATE_MIMEREPOS (after unzipping) to a location /SAP/PUBLIC/BC/UR/nw5/themes/CUSTOM_THEME. After that, I call my application with the additional URL parameter sap-wd-themeroot=/SAP/PUBLIC/BC/UR/nw5/themes/CUSTOM_THEME but it does not work (the app is displayed with the default sap_tradeshow stylesheet)
    B. I also tried calling my app using the URL parameter sap-cssurl=/SAP/PUBLIC/BC/UR/nw5/themes/CUSTOM_THEME but here again, it does not work (the app is displayed with the default sap_tradeshow stylesheet)
    C. Downloading the portal theme as a ZIP file and then uploading it (zipped) using the report WD_THEMES, but here I receive the error "no themes found in the ZIP file". I have the same error if I upload only the ur.zip I receive from the portal (instead of uploading the whole *.zip file)
    I checked the UR versions both in portal & ERP, and we had a lower version in the portal than in the ERP, so we upgraded the portal version according to SAP note 1446099. Now we have a higher version in the portal than in the ERP. We regenrated the portal theme and downloaded it again, but with the same result.
    Does anyone have an idea what could be the solution to our problem?
    Thanks in advance!

    I would recommend to try another way. If it is possible to access any SAP Portal from outside you can use two URL Parameters to integrate the Portal style sheets in a standalone WDA application. The parameter sap-cssurl contains the absolute URL address to the style sheet and parameter sap-cssversion the current SAP Portal style sheet version. For all external facing scenarios it is important to use the whitelist mechanism to block unknown URLs.
    Example
    ?sap-cssurl=http://myportal.myserver.com:50000/irj/portalapps/com.sap.portal.design.urdesigndata/themes/portal/mytheme/ur/ur_ie6.css
    &sap-cssversion=7.11.5.20.0
    I canu2019t recommend to raise manually the version number. You will not get an consistent system this way. The meta data (project.zip) are outdated and of course you will get an outdated theme.

  • Web dynpro URL not working in user's UWL

    Hi,
    I am not sure if this is the right place for this question. I have created a web dynpro application and copied the URL and we put this URL in the UWL of a user using workflow, now the issue is when a user click on that URL on the portal side it's not doing anything but when I go r/3 side and click on the URL in my inbox I can see my web dynpro application running.
    Any idea why is this happening.
    Thanks,

    Hi,
    Have you checked the proxy settings in server? If yes use this code
    URL u = new URL("http://download.finance.yahoo.com/d/quotes.rss?s=gm&d=t&f=l1t1c1");
    System.getProperties().put("proxySet", "true");
    System.getProperties().put("proxyHost", <HTTP Proxy Host> );
    System.getProperties().put("proxyPort", <HTTP Proxy Port> );
    InputStream is = u.openStream();
    DataInputStream dis = new DataInputStream(new BufferedInputStream(is));
    You can check the proxy settings in System Administration - >System Configuration -> Service Configuration -> Applciations ->com.sap.portal.ivs.httpservice -> Services -proxy.

  • Passing a parameter to Web Dynpro from an external system

    Hi All,
    I want to pass a parameter to a Web Dynpro Application from an external browser.
    I have developed a simple application with an input "ServiceOrder".
    In the Portal I have created an Iview for the Web Dynpro application and have set an Application Parameter (ServiceOrder="000003000012"). Just for testing.
    In web Dynpro Controller I have created an attribute in the Context and write tje code below in the wdDoInit.
    String SO = WDProtcolAdapter.getProtoclAdapter().getRequestParameter("ServiceOrder");
    wdContext.currentContextElement.setServiceOrder(SO);
    My problem is that the String SO is empty.
    Please help.

    Hi R. Taibi,
    try this.
    IWDProtocolAdapter protocolAdapter = WDProtocolAdapter.getProtocolAdapter();
    IWDRequest request = protocolAdapter.getRequestObject();

    Hello All,

    Now problem is user wants to create url for different tables and keep it in the portal using with this webdynpro program like that i need to create more than 20' url's and keep it in portal with current created web dynpro program.
    Could please provide any solution for this issue.
    Thanks in advance.

    You could try passing the table name as a URL parameter.
    i.e.
    http://<server>:<port>/sap/bc/webdynpro/sap/<app_name>?table=MARA
    This can be read in your WD application and use it to determine the table to display.  There is a heap of content out there on the internet that explains how to do this.

  • Web Dypro URL iview in portal

    Hi All,
    I have to give a link in the mails to the user for a Web dynpro application url running in a portal. Could you please tell me how to get that url for a particular WD application.
    For example when we post the request in the forum we get <b>formid and thread id</b> which directly takes us to the form in SDN portal.
    Regards,
    Rakesh

    Hi,
    You can use WDPortalNavigation to navigate to another iview.
    WDPortalNavigation.navigateAbsolute(
    "ROLES://portal_content/com.xx.test.sv.WPM_SV/com.xx.test.userid.Iview_transaction",
    WDPortalNavigationMode.SHOW_EXTERNAL,
    "toolbar=no,menubar=no",
    (String)null,
    WDPortalNavigationHistoryMode.NO_HISTORY,
    "My Target Title",
    input);
    When you create the iview for your Web Dynpro application,
    in the Quick Info dialog box, ID field, you will see a URL
    which starts like this :
    pcd:portal_content/com.pg.test.sv.WPM_SV/com.hp.test.userid.Iview_transaction
    Replace pcd with ROLES:// .
    For details read through WDPortalNavigation documentation.

    Hi,
    is it possible to cal web dynpro java application using j2ee portal application?
    If possible, how can it be done the parameter mapping over context area?

  • Web Dynpro application calling external web server using HTTPS giving error

    Hello,
    I don't know whether this is the right question in this forum but my ABAP web-dynpro applicaiton is expected to call another HTTP application on external web server through HTTPS. Presently it is calling through plain HTTP but we want to have HTTPS.
    Here are the steps that we followed based on the link from help.sap.com
    1] Received the certificate files from external web server
    2] Created SSL Anonymous client
    3] Imported the certificate files under this client and added into the certificate list
    4] Re-started ICM
    5] Created RFC Destination of type HTTP to connect to external server with SSL option and basic authentication. This RFC destination was working under plain HTTP.
    When tried with Test connection it gave error "ICM_HTTP_CONNECTION_FAILED".
    Any idea what might be missing. Thanks in advance.
    Regards
    Rajeev

    Used proper certificate after which the error went away
