Web Module Creation in j2ee perspective and jsp dynpage

Hi all,
Can someone tell me when to use jsp via creation of web module using suspend and resume plugs and jsp dynpage.  I am not clear with these two concepts.  Basically I want to work with jsp's and tht too want to be able to view it in portal iview.

  • Web Server in Java- Running Servlets and JSP files?

    I am developing a web server in java. i wish to execute server side tools(jsp and servlets) in this web server. how i can add this functionalities to this server? is any tools in java are available for running these?

    There certainly are. Perhaps the best known is Tomcat, part of the Jakarta project at http://jakarta.apache.org.

  • Ideas pls for a small application on java and jsp?

    hi ,
    I would like to create an application which for resume. I would like to codify the java code . The java code should be able to autogenerate jsp file's since the output of the resume would be on an jsp page. To add it simply a wizard for dynamic resume creation using java swings and jsp. Code for jsp should be autogenerated please note it.
    Ideas please!
    Thanks in advance

    I'd like to add more information to Patreck's suggestion.
    JSP pages are wonderful if you need the web server to perform some actions before sending you the final web page.
    Here, you don't need the web server to do anything because your Swing application can do it for you. As Patreck implies, Swing can make a connection to the database, retrieve any information you want, perform whatever logic you need, and write the output to an HTML file.
    To give you an example, you can use Internet Explorer to view a basic web page on your hard disk. You can also use Microsoft Word to view the same basic web page. They both do the same task and there is no need to force IE to use its Word plug-in in order to view the web page.
    JSPs are not necessary because Swing will do all of the work for you. You only need JSPs if you want people to use your program through a web browser because they can't do Swing inside a web browser. You should only use one or the other, not both. Understand now?
    If you really really must generate JSP code from a Swing application, then just write out the JSP stuff in the file. For example...
    public void createWebPage( Printwriter pw, String myName ) {
       pw.println( "<% String myJSPName = \"" + myName + "\" %>" );
       pw.println( "<HTML>");
       pw.println( "<HEAD>");
       pw.println( "<TITLE>My Resume</TITLE>" );
       pw.println( "</HEAD>");
       pw.println( "<BODY>" );
       pw.println( "<H1>My name is " + myName + " and my JSP name is <%= myJSPName %></H1>" );
       pw.println( "</BODY>" );
       pw.println( "</HTML>" );
    }As you can see, it's pointless to embed JSP when you can do all the programming within Swing first and just write out the correct response.

  • Are Oracle Java Serlet and JSP samples working in Oracle9i?

    Oracle web site provides many good Servlet and JSP samples. All
    the instructions talk about Oracle8i. Does anybody know for sure
    they are working under Oracle9i or not?
    Thanks!
    H.

    OTN has sample applications that demonstrate a range of JSP techniques, from basic to advanced. OTN provides two versions of the samples: one version is built to the Servlet 2.0 specification and runs under Oracle9iAS-JServ or JDeveloper, the other verion is built to the Servlet 2.2 specification and runs under the Oracle Servlet Engine (OSE) built into the Oracle8i database or the mod_ose module of Oracle9iAS.

  • [web module] can't find my existing web module !

    Hi, I got a strange problem...
    I give to oc4j my enterprise archive "next.ear" containing a web module "config.war" who is an exploded archive, so it's a directory.
    In my application.xml, I got that :
         <module>
              <web>
                   <web-uri>config.war</web-uri>
                   <context-root>config</context-root>
              </web>
         </module>
    I have traced OC4J and take a look to "C:\oc4j_extended_101310\j2ee\home\applications\next\" which is the directory containing the "next.ear" unpacked.
    So, in that directory, I can see my web module "config.war" which is a directory ...
    BUT, when deploying, I got that error :
    2007-04-27 15:13:01.904 NOTIFICATION DΘbut de l'initialisation de config...
    2007-04-27 15:13:01.904 NOTIFICATION l'application next est dans l'Θtat FAILED
    07/04/27 15:13:01 ATTENTION: Application.setConfig Application: next is in faile
    d state as initialization failed.
    java.lang.InstantiationException: Error finding web-app 'config' at C:\oc4j_extended_101310\j2ee\home\applications\next\config: No such file or directory
    So, it can't find the "config" file or directory, but it's strange because the module is under "config.war"... it miss the extention, so what must I do ???
    Rename my directory or add somthing to files descriptor ?
    Thank

    Hello,
    OracleAS does not officially support exploded archive deployment.
    Can you try to package your war as a real war an check if it is working correctly?
    btw: if you rename the deployed directory config.war to config i think it will work, but not supported...

  • Integrate a Web Module's JSP into an iView in NetWeaver CE 7.2

    Hi everybody,
    I am not sure whether this is the right spot to post this, but I will give it a try anyway.
    We want to develop an Enterprise Application containing a Web Module. Basically it is a Java EE application that has a business tier consisting of a couple of beans and business objects and a web tier consisting of JSPs and servlets. What I want to do is to integrate it into the portal content via an iView. We only use a web module in order to integrate servlets to handle AJAX requests made via javascript and because you can only make a servlet-mapping within the web.xml (as far as I know).
    Now I have created both the Enterprise Application Project as well as a Dynamic Web Project in the NWDS 7.2 according to the SAP manual. My servlet class as well as the beans are contained within the Dynamic Web Project's Java source folder. In the Web Content folder are the JSPs, css and javascript files. I deployed that application successfully via the NWDS and I can see under the application console of the NetWeaver Administrator that the application is deployed and alledgedly started, yet I cannot see it in the PCD. Therefore I cannot directly include it into a page and by that make it available to portal users. Also, I cannot access the application via the url http://<host>:<port>/<url as defined in application.xml>.
    How can this be done?
    Normally, I would do this by creating an iView from Template in the PCD's folder containing my designated page and role and adding it to the page as a deltalink. Yet when I try to do this, the portal offers me a long list of iView types, none of which seem to match my desire of matching a Web Module or Enterprise Application. Is that possible at all or what do I have to do to achieve this? I had no problem to integrate my application as a Portal Application, which is also deployed as an .ear, but that lacks the possibility to use servlets - at least from my understanding, since I cannot integrate a servlet-mapping into the portalapp.xml and there is no web.xml in a Portal Application.
    I have been trying this for two days now and didn't succeed. Is it possible at all, and if so, how? Any help is highly appreciated!
    Thanks in advance,
    Serg

    I then created an Enterprise Module Project with name "EnterpriseWebModule"
    Then i linked the "WebModuleProject" whith this project.
    I created an EAR for this project.
    Deployed that EAR on to hte J2EE Engine.
    Now on applying the following url:

  • Error on deploying JSP web module

    Hi,
    I've created a JSP web module that consumes a web service. I'm following this tutorial
    [http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/f0cf9e42-ccb0-2c10-d0a4-f5aa8a79e19a?quicklink=index&overridelayout=true|http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/f0cf9e42-ccb0-2c10-d0a4-f5aa8a79e19a?quicklink=index&overridelayout=true]
    But when I deploy my ear project, I had this error
    Application error occurred during the request procession.
    Details:   com.sap.engine.services.servlets_jsp.server.exceptions.WebIOException:
    Error compiling [/sample.jsp] of alias [LocalDevelopmentdc_webmodulesap.com] of J2EE application [sap.com/dc_webmoduleear].
    Exception id: [001CC43ABAC00086000056FB00006CEA0004A5A7E1A64FD3]
    Here's the java code in the JSP:
    InitialContext ctx = new InitialContext();
    WS_Preview obj = (WS_Preview).ctx.lookup("java:comp/env/newproxy");
    WS_PreviewViDocument port = (WS_PreviewViDocument)obj.getLogicalPort("Config1Port_Document",WS_PreviewViDocument.class);
    GetElementXHTMLValueResponse result = new GetElementXHTMLValueResponse();
    result = port.GetElementXHTMLValue("A","A","A");
    out.print(result);
    Does anyone know how to solve this error? Thanks

    Because you do not have an infrastructure database, you will not be able to deploy your web service from OEM as one of its steps is to register the service in the UDDI registy - the Web service deployment and UDDI registration are tied tightly together in OEM right now.
    All is not lost, however. You have two routes to deploy the Web Service on Oracle9iAS:
    1. Use DCM, which is the command line interface to deploy applications/webservices/wars/ears on Oracle9iAS. It does not have the dependency on UDDI.
    To deploy a Web service using DCM, say your Web service ear file were named test.ear your deployment command would look something like:
    c:\oracle\ora903\dcm\bin\dcmctl deployApplication -file test.ear
    See the doc for much more detail to let you tailor DCM to do all the stuff that is available through EM or specific to your application:
    http://download-west.oracle.com/docs/cd/A97329_03/core.902/a92171/dcm.htm#643834
    2. In JDeveloper 9.0.3, there is a DCM Servlet that lets you do remote deployment to Oracle9iAS:
    http://otn.oracle.com/products/jdev/htdocs/readme_9031.html#viadcm
    I suspect your deployment problem from Oracle9i JDeveloper may be (this may be an incorrect assumption) due to trying to use a connection that is setup as if Oracle9iAS is a standalone OC4J.
    Mike.

  • JSP does not have visibility of java classes in simple Web Module Project

    Dear Experts
    I am developing what I thought would be a very simple Web Module Project for a simple webservice
    to allow a user to logon to Netweaver Portal with a simple logon and password.
    I have not done this in over 8 years, and am somewhat rusty.
    The webservice is package in  a .war and is deployed via an Enterprise Application project as a .ear.
    The issue I am having is that I want to enhance the presentation of the webservice through the
    provision of css and adding a couple of images. The "libraries" are visibile in the build path of web
    module project.
    At the top of my .jsp for logon form I want to import some java libraries in order
    to get String webpath = componentRequest.getWebResourcePath()"/":
    <%@ page session = "true"%>
    <%@ page import = "com.sapportals.portal.prt.resource.IResource" %>
    <%@ page import="com.sap.security.core.sapmimp.logon.SAPMLogonLogic" %>
    <%@ page import="com.sap.security.core.sapmimp.logon.SAPMLogonCertLogic" %>
    <%@ page import="com.sap.security.core.logonadmin.IAccessToLogic" %>
    <%@ page import="com.sap.security.core.logonadmin.ComponentAccessToLogic" %>
    <%  IAccessToLogic proxy = new ComponentAccessToLogic (componentRequest, aResponse, IAccessToLogic.ENV_LOGONCOMPONENT);
    final boolean inPortal = true;
    String webpath = componentRequest.getWebResourcePath()"/";
    // todo: find layout schema...
    aResponse.addResource(componentRequest.getResource(IResource.CSS, "css/main2.css"));
    %>
    However, during runtime the libraries are unknown and I get the following SAPJ2 EE errors
    indicating the methods etc are not known to the jsp:
    Full Message Text

    Have you made runtime references to used libraries...?

  • Web Module created form NWDI does not appear in J2EE-Explorer View

    Hi,
    I have created a DC of Type Web Module. I had it checked in and activated it.
    Afterwards I went to "Inactive DCs" view and created a local project out of the DC.
    When I look at "J2EE Explorer" view, I do not see my newly created object. However it is visible in "J2EE DC Explorer" view. When I edit the .project file and remove the line
    <nature>com.sap.ide.eclipse.component.provider.dcnature</nature>
    I can edit the project in "J2EE Explorer" but not in "J2EE DC Explorer".
    When I am finished with my local work on component I have to copy the line
    <nature>com.sap.ide.eclipse.component.provider.dcnature</nature>
    back into .project-file. Is there a more elegant solution for editing web modules created from DCs?
    Thanks for your help,
    Andreas

    Hello Sidharth,
    By the term "extend", I meant, that
    - eg another developer created the dc,
    - I want to add further functionality to the dc (by "extend" I DID NOT THINK OF CREATING A CHILD COMPONENT).
    Maybe I understood the dc-concept wrong:
    I wanted to reference the JCO-library in my dc and I am missing the entry "Add/Remove Additional Libraries" in the context menu in "J2EE DC Explorer" perspective:
    Is that by design?;
    Do I have to
    - add references to external libraries (like JCO) in local, non-dc J2EE-projects by "Add/Remove Additional Libraries" and in
    - dc projects I have to reference external libraries by "Add Used DC" within the "DC Metadata"?

  • Decl J2EE auth and auth with JAAS with custom module

    Hi Frank:
    I have posted another msg where I was trying the non-custom Login module with no luck. In the meantime, I tried the custom module and still having problem. When I click on dlmtest.jsp it brings up the inbuilt login module and not the custom one. My db_schema is "SECURITYTESTER" and pwd = "oracle"
    Hetre is my jazn-data.xml

    So, why is it not bringing up the custom login module. And, I can't authenticate in this case as well.
    Thanks for your help (and on your help on the non-customized version of my post)

    Hi,
    most likely the reason is that the deployed application name is not the same name you provided when configuring the LoginModule (DBLMTest). Its documented in the paper that comes with the LogiNmodules i wrote

  • How to deploy my web module to J2EE server?

    hi, i used forte CE to create my web module and its working perfectly when i run it through forte CE.
    I've created a .war file for my web module through forte CE via the command Export WAR.
    I've set up my J2EE server and its running cause i can go to its index page.
    Now the problem, through the deployment tool that come with J2EE, I created a new application and add my .war into it. Next I tried to deploy my application .ear file. The deployment is successful.
    But when I tried to access my application through the browser, I got this error messages:
    A Servlet Exception Has Occurred
    org.apache.jasper.JasperException: Unable to compile class for JSPNote: sun.tools.javac.Main has been deprecated.
    An error occurred at line: 2 in the jsp file: /searchQRStatus.jsp
    Generated servlet error:
    e:\j2sdkee1.3\repository\psa\web\qrstatus\_0002fsearchQRStatus_jsp.java:65: Class org.apache.jsp.ConnectionBean not found.
    ConnectionBean connection = null;
    I got repeated similiar error msgs for all my javabeans, ConnectionBean is one of them.
    It seems that the server cannot find my javabean .java/.class files.
    I only use jsp/javabeans/html/ms access database with ODBC connection.
    1) How to solve my problems?
    2) Do I need to set up a new ODBC 32bit System DSN for my database again, since the location for the database is different after deployment?
    any help will be greatly appreciated..............thankz

    perhaps your J2EE server only has access to JRE and not JDK? ... you'll need the JDK to run JSP pages because they are compiled on-the-fly into servlets. just a thought.
