Web Monitoring Tool

Hi,
Can you recommend any tool(s) that does Web monitoring i.e. check if the Website is UP or not.
This tool must also monitor webServices.
Thanks.

I do the same thing, and it's pretty simple to set up:
What I do is enable the web service on the OS X server. Then I enable the Proxy service. (All through Server Admin)
Then, I set that server as the proxy on the client machines. (Safari proxy is set in System preferences/Network Settings, and Firefox and Exploder in their respective Preferences. (something like Firefox/Preferences/Network Connection settings.))
Then your server's web access log will show you by IPs all the accessed web pages.
You can also block desired websites that way (it's in the proxy settings on the server -- Server Admin).
Since Safari proxy is controlled via system preferences you can lock it so that users can't change it, but firefox and exploder settings are user acessible, if your users are savvy enough to find them.
The only problem I've run with this, and it is such a minor issue, is that some websites that use nonstandard ports have trouble getting through proxy. In that case I just bypass the proxy on the browser settings. (It's in the same place where you set those settings in the first place.)
Hope that helps:)
There are liability issues involved though, with expectations of privacy and other policies, such as uniformly and randomly applying "keeping a closer eye". I wouldn't recommend firing anyone over that, as they could easily counter-sue.

  • Web Activity Monitoring Tool

I admin an OS X 10.4.11 server for a small network of about 10 Macs & 10 Windows computers.
It is running both DNS and DHCP. An Actiontec DSL router is running NAT.
The owner & management of the company wants to keep a closer eye on a couple of naughty employees, wanting to monitor their web activity. Apparently these employees are spending several hours a day on myspace and such.
When I log into the Actiontec and check the web monitoring log, almost all of it appears from the Mac server and not the individual computers.
Is there a tool, whether commercial or shareware, that will install on either a Windows computer or a Mac that can provide web activity logs by IP (given the current network setup)?
    Thanks!

  • Oracle EPM 11.1.2.1 Monitoring tools

    Gurus,
could you please let me know what are the available system monitoring or performance monitoring tools for oracle EPM 11.1.2.1 or in case licenses are involved what are the best key areas for manual procedures to monitor the system?
    Many thanks !

    Hello,
Monitoring is a broad term. There are many 3rd party tools available that can provide monitoring, it all depends on what exactly you're looking for.
Oracle has a document on setting up Oracle Enterprise Manager to monitor Hyperion Applications: http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/middleware/bi-foundation/sys9-oem-integration-1-129287.pdf. For performance monitoring, you can also look at this: https://blogs.oracle.com/pa/entry/epm_11_1_2_how3. This will basically connect to the JRockit JVM and look at the performance for the web application.
If you want to do more monitoring (services, servers, processor, CPU), you can look into Hyperic HQ: http://www.hyperic.com/. They have both an open source version and an enterprise version. I've used the open source version myself and it is pretty good and plays well with Windows. You can see many metrics, graphics and information via the web based application. You can also setup email alerts on certain activities (service stop, service start) and also monitor website availability. For being an open source software, I think it offers alot and it is very reliable.
Again, these are just a few suggestions. There are many tools out there that can accomplish what you're looking for.

  • Custome build PI monitoring tool

    Hello Experts,
We are in the process of considering PI 7.1 as the next generation of EAI solution.
We have come across a requirement to build a custom web based application to show PI monitoring data.
The current EAI tool comes with such a user friendly web based application  where bussiness users can see historic data about messages related to their bussiness units. We thought of having users to login to Run time work bench and see the message data, however, the RWB is too complex for the non technical users and it also have few components (performance monitoring, componenet monitoring) which end will not be concerned about.
Have anybody come across this kind of requirement?? Have anybody tried building a custome monitoring tool over PI in their PI implemetation??
Suggestion and comments will be greatly appreciated.
    - Rajan

    Thanks for the reply Prateek.
I apology for the late reply. The link you have mentioned talks about fetching the data out of integration engine tables.
I have following two concerns here about this approch if you would like to add your views on -
    1. What if the message fails while it is being picked by the adapter? Will this message state be recorded in the IS tables? My understanding is that this message state will only be stored in the adapter frame work tables which are at java stack.
    2. How much volume of data can be transported over the web service? What if I have thousands messages flowing throw the PI on per day basis? And using this web service,  I may search for all the message details for the messages passed through the PI system in last one day or one week??

  • Activity Data Collector & Web Analytics Tool

    Hello,
Has anyone used a Web Analytics tool, such as WebTrends, to analyze the Activity Data Collector logs/files?
I would appreciate your input on this matter. We are looking to tack/report on the portal usage (iViews, pages, etc).
    Regards,
    Omar

    Hi Omar,
Why not go for Portal Activity Report to monitor Portal Activities and also users.
The portal activity report feature enables portal administrators to gather and present information about portal activity, including information about the users who logged on to the portal and about the content that was viewed.
The feature includes an iView that can display a portal activity report with one of the following:
    a) Information about the number of users who logged on during a specified period of time
This type of portal activity report also displays a graphic showing the change in the number of users logged on over time.
    b) Information about the users who logged on
    c) Information about the number of users who visited each page and iView.
Read more about the same on

  • Web publish tool creates blank page

I've been having some trouble with the LabVIEW web publishing tool. It seems that when I try to publish the front panel of my vi, a blank web page is produced instead. To publish, I select Tools>>Web Publishing Tool..., then select my VI from the VI name dropdown menu. I select monitor mode and use a refresh rate of a couple seconds. From there, I try to view a page preview, but all I see is a blank white page. When I try to view the html source of this page, it looks like a blank html document (i.e. view source just shows a blank page as well).
When I follow the web publishing wizard through to completion, I visit the address that the page is supposed to be published at, but get the same blank page results as I did in the preview. Note that I don't get a 404, just a blank page. However, when I look at the html document that was produced, it does contain a page (I've attached the html it produces, all I've done is change the extension to text so I could upload it).
I'm running LabVIEW 2009. The vi in question is in memory, running on the server computer. I have enabled the web server, but in the web publishing wizard, the "Start Web Server" button is inaccessible.
Does anyone know what might be wrong? Or better yet how to fix it?

    Jordan,
What I meant was that the VI was running on the computer that is acting as the server, which is in fact the same computer I was testing from. So yes, the problem still arose there. I have made some progress on this issue- it seems that it might be due to some bug with the Browser Access List. Our Browser Access list was empty. Whenever I tried to add something to it (i.e. by typing "*" into the Browser Address bar, selecting the "Allow viewing" radio button and then clicking the "Add" button), a blank entry would show up in the Browser access list. After hitting "ok" on the options box, the blank entry seemed to dissapear; when I would revisit the settings page under "tools->Options->Web Server" the browser list would show up totally empty again.
I was able to fix this problem just by typing "*" into the Browser Address bar, clicking "Add", and toggling back and forth between the radio button access options a few times. Eventually the * showed up as an entry in the browser access list, and when I hit ok the option seems to persist (so I can leave the Web Server options dialogue and return to it later to see that the * is still added with the proper permissions).
However, I'm still having problems. Now when I visit the url of my web published vi, I get the message "Client does not have access to the specified VI." I currently have the settings such that I think all browser clients should have view & control permissions for our published vis. I have attached a screenshot of this message and of our current browser permissions screen. Is this the proper set up? If not, what do I need to do to give viewing permissions to all clients?

  • Which Performance Monitoring Tool is good for Weblogic?

Please advise me on good performance monitoring software. Budget is no issue.
A typical performance monitoring tool has:
    Server monitoring
    Application server monitoring
    Database monitoring
    Web services monitoring
    Virtualization monitoring
An example is ManageEngine's Applications Manager
    currenty, I want to monitor:
    1 - BEA Weblogic server 8.1
    2 - Oracle 9i Rel 2
Once I can identify the bottlenecks, recommendation for hardware / software upgrade can be made easily.
    Thanks.

Thanks Faisal, I will evaluate this product if full functional trial version is available.
so far I have come to know about these tools:
    Applications Manager
    up.time
Still not sure which one brings more value to the business.

  • ADF performance monitoring tools

    Hi,
Are there performance monitoring tools for ADF like JProfiler for identifying memory leaks etc?
    Thanks
    Sachin

Depending on what you are trying to monitor you can use:
    Oracle Enterprise Manager - http://biemond.blogspot.com/2009/07/adf-web-applications-and-oracle.html and https://blogs.oracle.com/ATEAM_WEBCENTER/entry/monitor_performance_with_enterprise_manager

  • Available resource monitoring tools

    Hi,
Hi I'm evaluating my option to monitor resource utilisation by domains. The categories I'm interested in are CPU, Mem, Disc and I/O utilisation. What monitoring tools exist? Searching the web, I've seen Without having access to an oracle server, yet, the resource categories of sample output of 'xm list' I've seen so far only contained CPU and mem utilisation but not any I/O (disk or net). Is this correct? And what options have I got to monitor these resources as finely as possible?
Best regards and thanks for your help

Would you like to perform the monitoring from control domain or guest domains? If you do the monitoring inside guest domain, then I guess you can use SNMP tools for the job. I've used Orca and SEtoolkit inside guest domains (they don't use SNMP) but they are a bit outdated for that use. You might also take a look at Zabbix.
I don't know what tools exists for collecting information from control domain (which would require less work and less installed clients etc.). Maybe some custom scripting with SNMP.

  • Do we have a built-in option for web based tool in Nexus 5548UP switches for management purpose?

I have purchased Nexus 5548UP switch, i want to know if we have a built-in option for web based tool to manage and configur it just as ASA have ASDM. If there is no such options then what are the options available that can be freely available and can be used to get performance monitoring done.

DCNM (Data Center Network Manager) runs on a server (Windows, RHEL or Solaris) and can be used to manage Nexus devices. It's free for Nexus 1K through 5K devices (paid license required for Nexus 7K management).

There is not a "built-in" management product like ASDM for ASA.

  • Monitoring-Tools

    Hi,
are there any monitoring tools for web services. How can I observe my web service and tryck the accesses for it. Any suggestions?
    Regards,
    Mischa

I have written a free Java performance monitoring tool called JAMon that you might be interested in. It couldn't be easier to use and provides a wealth of information including performance and scalability statistics and more. Other features include the ability to monitor production code, and to disable monitoring at runtime.
To see the type of information that JAMon generates look at the following sample
    JAMon report:
    http://www.javaperformancetuning.com/tools/jamon/JAMonAdmin.html
To learn about performance monitoring, how to use JAMon, and how to
    download JAMon go to:

If you know of anyone that wants to monitor there code, please refer them
to this link. Thanks. Let me know what you think.

    HI,
If you are going to develop a web application, you should be very clear and careful about this.
On Web the pops and your popup subvis will not work properly, You have to develop your application on Tab control. Your complete solution should be in a single packet.
If you want to give the access to different-different 5 users you can easily provide it. All users can monitor and control your application easily on web.
Its upto you, you can define the number of users to access the web application.
If you publish your application on local IP this will work only in your local network but if you publish it on your public IP this will work as a web application like Google, gmail, yahoo.....

  • Monitoring tool needed

    Hi guys.
My company will be needed for a monitoring tool that will help assist the dbas in their daily activities. Yeah one can think of 10g grid, but can any one suggest for a more sophisticated tool that will help us record downtime details, capactity planning and all the rest? (even those that arent free).
    Thanks.
    DID

Veritas I3 is a very good product (used to be called Precise for Oracle).
It will monitor everything from your storage server, to your databases (sqealserver and Oracle) to your web servers to your middleware servers and a few other things you probably never heard of.
Not blinking lights or pulsing data flow diagrams like quest. And is freakishly expensive and has incredible hardware requirements so there is a large TCO involved. The data is good, has SLA tracking, as much detailed history as you want. We kept the history at 6 months, so it was about 55 gig of storage for that.
But we liked it. We dropped it because it lost its bang for the buck and the hardware requirements was beginning to become more than the databases and applications it monitored.
