Web player 2004 codebase?
I have a number of users who, despite numerous efforts to
force them to install the 2004 web player, simply refuse/fail to
read instructions so they go directly to the web pages to view
Authorware segments without installing the web player. The web page
has a codebase that automatically installs an old compact version
of the Authorware web player which predictably shows the users a
few errors after installation for various reasons (errors that
don't show up when using the 2004 web player).
I have looked for a while now and cannot find a new codebase
URL to have the page install the new 2004 web player instead. Is
there such a URL? I don't have the time to set up a URL on our
network so hopefully someone knows of a public URL to use.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
This is what I use:
codebase="
http://fpdownload.macromedia.com/get/shockwave/cabs/authorware/aws
waxd.cab#version=2004,0,0,73"
I got that from viewing the page source on MM's web player
download page. It
is the same on Adobe's AW web player download page.

Ann: Authorware Web Player 2004 Helper update
Hello Authorwarians,
A bug in my Authorware Web Player 2004 Helper was just
uncovered. It was poking a misspelt cab reference "awswaxd.cab"
into Authorware's OBP.INI file, which when then written into html
for web deployment of applications, would fail to call up the
player properly.
This problem occurred from July 2006 when I updated the
product to handle libraries properly. Unfortunately, it was at that
time that I somehow mucked up the reference, as it was correct for
the two years previously. Since it's only poked in once, I never
caught it on my own systems.
I have placed a corrected version at
http://www.clickcraft.com/ko/AW2004WebPlayerHelper.zip.
Please obtain it and replace the commands in your AW6.5 and/or AW7
folders.
I apologise profusely for the trouble this has surely caused
a few of you. I only wish I'd found out earlier.
Best,Ron
No one in their right mind is going to be upset by a small
error like
this in a tool you provide for free. This is a great tool and
thanks
very much for providing it.

AW Web Player 2004 - awswxd.cab
Hi,
Does anyone know whether this URL to download the AW Web
Player 2004 awswxd.cab is still valid...
http://download.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/authorware/awswxd.cab#version=2004,0,0,3
I'm using the above URL in my AW piece and it just hangs when
it tries to download the AW Web Player files.
Any advice will be appreciated.

You have the wrong URL, it should be
http://download.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/authorware/awswxd.cab#version=2004,0,0,7 3
- notice version 2004,0,0,73, not 2004,0,03
But neither work. I'll get on to Adobe and see what's going
on.

JumpFileReturn to an AAM in Authorware Web Player 2004
I am trying to execute a JumpFileReturn from one web-packaged
file to another, passing variables along the way. I found a
TechNote explaining how AWP2004 can do this using the ActiveX
control. I'm not quite sure how to set it up.
Here's a link to the TechNote:
http://www.adobe.com/go/tn_19348
And here's the syntax:
CallSprite(@"ActiveX...", #JumpFile, "test.aam", "myVar", "")
I'm not quite sure what should replace "ActiveX..."
Am I inserting a control (which one?) and referencing it in
this script? That's the one piece that seems to be missing in the
TechNote.
Any help is appreciated. If there's a better way to jump to
another aam and return to same spot in the original file instead of
this method, suggestions are welcome. Thanks!"bdwilliamsdotcom" <[email protected]> wrote

This is assuming you have an Authorware file that is embedded
in a web
browser ActiveX control where the web browser sprite is
called "ActiveX" and
of course inside another Authorware file.
> I'm not quite sure what should replace "ActiveX..."
If you are not trying to use a web browser ActiveX control to
display an
Authorware file inside your Authorware file, you don't need
this syntax.

Try
Jumpfile("test", "myVar")

Installing Web Player on Win 7
I am installing Authorware Webplayer on multiple machines on IE and Firefox. I am not using a silent install nor am I deploying it. My problem is that when I install the webplayer on IE the program will not be available for any other user besides the administrator. When I install it on Firefox under Admin it is available for all other users.
Any help?If you install the Authorware Web Player 2004, then it will be available for other users in IE. I've done this often so I'm sure it works. IE7 has a security feature that requires the site where the content is held to be included in the list of "Trusted Sites". See Control Panel / Internet Options / Security (tab) / Trusted sites (checkmark) / Sites (button).

Where is technote on latest Web Player
I'm trying to review information on how to use the latest
version of the web player (2204 version) and I can't find the
relevant tech note on the site. The only tech note I've been able

Thanks

Distribute Authorware Web Player
I need to distribute the Authorware Web Player on approximately 1000 PCs within our company. When I go to the page for Licensing and deployment of the Authorware Web Player (http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/142/tn_14236.html), there is a link for individual users to download the player, but no license agreement for distribution. If you follow the download link, and then choose Authorware Web Player 2004, it takes you to a page with an Install button, but no way to download the installer files separately. Is there an approved method to distribute the Authorware Web Player, and if so, how do I do so?
(Additional information: I will be wanting to do this via an SMS package. PC's are running MS Windows XP Professional SP3, browser is IE7. Domain users do not have administrative rights (and not all have Internet access), so installation by individual users is not possible.)
UPDATE: I did find a separate link to the installer download for Authorware (http://www.adobe.com/shockwave/authorware/form/download/) on another thread in this forum. However, I am still needing to know how to get approval to distribute the Authorware Web Player (similar to what is needed for Flash Player, Shockwave Player, etc.), or if approval is even needed.Steve, I need this too. If you want to send me the msi, that'd be great, dropbox<at>wsesu.org. Otherwise, what's the easiest way to build an msi from a cab?

Hi all, I have two questions.
1. Is there any way to get the one button publish option to
load the 2004,0,0,73 web player? It would seem that the best that
can be select is the 7,0,0,70 full player. If there is not, then
what do I need to change the URL in the default.html to? I tried
changing the line from
codebase="
http://download.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/authorware/awswaxf.cab#version=7,0,0,70"
width="640" height="480"
to
codebase="
http://fpdownload.macromedia.com/get/shockwave/cabs/authorware/awswaxf.cab#version=2004,0, 0,73"
width="640" height="480"
and I still get the 7,0,070 full version loaded. What is the
correct address?
2. When the piece starts, and this seemed to just seemed to
happen to all of my courses at once, the html page opens on top but
does not have focus. I have to click on the opening screen once
before it will allow me to select anything on the page. Did I miss
set something when I published? Or is this another new feature from
IE?"DaGary" <[email protected]> wrote in

You can edit the config files - or you can use Ron Lubensky's
helper app -
download it from www.ClickCraft.com. Much easier :-)

That's IE. You can work around *that* by embedding your AW
file in a
JavaScript wrapper. I think there should still be a method of
doing this
posted on the Adobe web site.
But note that this same 'feature' applies to any ActiveX
control embedded in
a web page - like Flash for instance. You will see pages all
over the web
that exhibit the same behaviour. The workaround is not so
horrible, but your
users may well be used to seeing this feature elsewhere and
will just click
on your app and move on without breaking sweat.
Also - I think if you use OnTopMinimize, the focus feature is
no longer
there.

Authorware Web Player won't download from our server
We have used the same code to download the 2004 web player
successfully from our server since 2005. Recently however, during
the download, the player starts, but it hangs at the point where
the progress bar with the label "Loading Files" displays. This
happens on a client pc that has no Authorware web player files in
Downloaded Program Files, System32\Macromed\Authorwa, and Documents
and Settings...\Authoware Web Player directories. We can download
successfully to the same pc from the Adobe server. I'd appreciate
very much any advice that the experts have.Any changes to your server? Not that I'd have any particular
solution if
so, but it's something to check into. Windows Server 2003
needs MIME
Types to be added...but missing those results in specific
errors, I
think, not just a freeze at the 'loading files' screen.
Can other machines download from your server ok? Could it be
something
specific to this client machine?
What browser on the client machine? Do any other browsers
work?
This problem has been linked to popup blockers in some
situations. For
some reason, popup blockers can prevent the web player from
showing the
security dialog, which tries to show before any content is
actually
loaded. Try turning off any blockers that may be present or
adding your
server location to the blocker 'allowed' sites.
However, if that was the problem, I'd think it would occur
while loading
the player from both your server *and* Adobe's server.

Authorware 6.0 Web Player
I have a training application from Education Multimedia for
Office XP that uses Authorware 6.0 Web Player. The player doesn't
seem to work with IE7. Any idea if it can make it work? The install
in the application just seems to hang and not do anything, it works
fine with IE6.
thanksCould be a rights issue, also. The AW 6 web player writes
files to a
subdirectory of the Windows directory. You would be better
off using the
2004 Web Player, which uses the Documents & Settings
folder of the user.
It's backwards compatible with earlier versions of AW.

I had to purchase a new laptop with XP running IE 6.0. I am
unable to download the 2004 web player due to the following error:
Error downloading content file.
Internal error: Time out.

When I click OK to close the error box, I then get a pink

Any suggestions?Additional info... Finally, I get a Plugin LaunchApp message
as follows:
"The process cannot access the file because it is being used

The download window is the only window being used at the

DIVX Plus Player Web Player-gives error message when starting
I have a MacBook Pro (10.6.7) when i attempt to play any tutorials on the Apple Site, i.e. Iphoto,iCal, MobileMe etc,etc I get the following error, it begins to look like it is going to play than I receive:
DIVX PLUS WEB PLAYER
What you are trying to play has failed to download and can no longer play.
Thanks in AdvanceI'm not sure why it does this but it's SO VERY ANNOYING!
But you can easily fix this issue with a few clicks... Go into safari Preferences and click the Extensions tab. DISABLE the 2 DIVX Extensions within extensions tab. This is allow Safari to play the videos in QT like it should.
Not really a fix but atleast you can play the QT videos on Apple's Site!
BTW, If you get a Permanent fix Please Update the Post so I to can have sanity once again when drooling over new apple needs! -
DivX Web Player is no longer working.
DivX Plus Web Player HTML 5 [video] is incompatible with Firefox 4.0b8. <=(disable reason)
So i can no longer stream my fav movies. Also, when i click play, sometimes my trafic bar goes crazy like it's downloading from the source, but i have no image or sound just like the divx web player is crashed.
So please can you help me? The web player worked on FF 3 and on Opera...
Also, Bitdefender Antiphishing Toolbar, Cooliris and some Microsoft Framework stuff are incompatible with Firefox 4.This problem must be huge...
IF you just did the ver 4 upgrade a little while ago, stop and use the windows restore utility to restore your computer to a restore point before the ver 4 upgrade.... You will not lose data, and perhaps reverse setting changes that the ver 4 upgrade does that can't be undone... No one has recommended this yet!!
