Web Queries

If we use WebBex to define a Web Template for a Query on the selection screen before seeing the report each time a user enters a filter value the query hits the server. Is there a way of preventing this? Thanks

you could also pass the variable value via url and prevent selection screen from showing up

Problem running web queries on machines with internet explorer 8 installed

Hello All,
We started noticing that a few of our users can no longer execute web queries in MS Excel spreadsheets created from .IQY files exported from Discoverer.
The users get the following error when they attempt to refresh data on their excel worksheet:
"The file could not be accessed. Try one of the following:
*Make sure the specified folder exists.
*Make sure the folder that contains the file is not read-only.
*Make sure the file name does not contain any of the following characters: < > ? [ ] : | or *
*Make sure the file/path name doesn't contain more than 218 characters."
Followed immediately by: "Invalid Web Query"
We believe that we've linked this issue to only occurring with users who've installed Internet Explorer 8, so I'm hoping that it could be some configuration setting that I could tweak, either in their internet settings or on the discoverer server.
Has anyone else encountered this problem? Does anyone have any suggestions?
FYI: Our discoverer server is version: 10.1.2.3.0 with CP4, and our clients are using JRE 1.6.0_12, the problem is occurring on my test machine with Excel 2003.

After looking into this further I checked firewall settings in Panda A.V. For Firefox they were set to Custom settings which effectively disabled it. I changed setting to Outbound only like Internet Explorer and other programs and Firefox seems to work fine now. Hope this helps others who have experienced this problem. I have teenage children who use computer a lot (Face Book, etc.) so the root of the problem may have been Malware, Adware, or something else but hopefully Panda has taken care of this.

How to combine two user prompts into 1 single prompt from two Webi Queries

Hi All,
I developed a single webi report from two different queries on top of 2 BW OLAP universe .
Here I have one user input prompt for each query so I want to combine them into one single user input promt which should pass the user input value to both the Webi queries feeding data to the single webi report.
I found that the webi doc has auto checked merge dimensions enabled but it is not providing combined resluts from both the queries .
Any inputs are greatlt appreciated.

Firstly ,I appreciate your responses for my two questions.
Both the prompts I am using are from the masterdata and they are similar.data types.I think the transactional data is not available in BW for one of the prompt ,hence I am not getting consistent data.
Anyway will do further investigation in finding similarities and let you know.

Report to Report jump web queries variable screen on BW

Hello,
We would like the variable screen to always popup when the user runs a main query. We would like the variable screen to never popup when jumping from one query to another query.
We are using BW 3.5. We are using web queries, NOT Excel. Both queries are running on BW. We have set up jump query parameters in RSBBS. These jump successfully with all of the appropriate required variables passed from the from the first query to the second query. We are using the standard 0ADHOC template for all queries, including the sender and receiver queries.
With the FORCE_VARIABLE flag set to TRUE, both the sender and receiver queries popup the variable entry screen. With FORCE_VARIABLE flag set to FALSE, both sender and receiver queries do NOT popup the variable screen. We would like the FORCE_VARIABLE flag set to TRUE for the sender query and set to FALSE for the receiver query. Is this possible? How do you set the FORCE_VARIABLE flag to FALSE dynamically based on the fact that the user has just jumped to a receiver query?
Another alternative would be to build two query templates, one for sender queries and one for receiver queries. How do you switch to a different template when the user is ready to jump?
I have also been fooling with the RESET_DATA_PROVIDER command available in BW 3.5, but have not had any luck. Can this be used to accomplish my objective? How do I use it? Please remember that I am not setting specific jump targets in the web template. I would like this work generically based on settings from RSBBS.
Any other ideas to force the variable screen on the 1st query and bypass the variable screen when the user is ready to jump would be greatly appreciated.

RRI concept is called Hyperlinking in BO front.
To achieve this, you can use:
1. Hyperlinking by changing Infoview preferences to Interactive mode.
2. Using OpenDocument() syntax.

Discoverer Web Queries

Can anyone help me.
I have created a number of disco web queries (excel).
The location of the disco report is about to be changed onto a new server with a new address.
Is there anyway to access the address of the report in excel and change it rather that running each report in disco and reacreating the web query.

Thanks for the reply, however is there a way to amend the link in the excel file that has been created from the iqy file. Otherwise we would need to amend quite a lot of iqy files then recreate them in excel with the correct usernames and paramaters on another excel sheet.

BI web queries in HR portal without federation

Is it possible to display BI queries in a portal that is not the "BI portal". My landscape is as follows.
Have 1 EP 7 HR portal running ESS
Have 1 Dual stack NW2004s system running BI ABAP, BI JAVA, and EP.
CAn you get creative and use old bex reports or url iviews or something besides federation?

This should be possible. There are three ways of displaying a BEx Web application or query in a different portal. You can call the iView directly, via application integrator, or via BEx iView.

Problem to run a web querie

Hello everyone,
I have a small problem, I made a modification of a querie because it gave an error when executed. And it turns out that once corrected the error, I run the query in the BEX analyzer, and everything perfect no mistake, however querie run by the Web and the error persists. He recorded the web plantlla again, he left and entered the web portal and nothing continues to give the mistake ... I can do?

No stats for Web queries

Hi Friends
We are using portals to run reports.When the queries run on Bex analyser, stats recording fine but however when we run the queries on Portals,the stats are not recording.
Then I did load data from RSDDSTAT table into 0BWTC_C02 cube.Now no.of navigation isok but overall time and meantime are displaying as '0'.
What is the correct solution to record bw stats for web based queries?

My problem is not the performance problem.
When query ran on portal then BW stats not showing the details of meantime ,overall meantime,time olap processor etc.
When I run the stats query '0BWTC_C10_Q010' - Utilising OLAP, It's showing only number of navigations and it's showing remaining all the fields '0'.
How can I resolve this problem.

Is it possible to run 3.x web queries on BIA, or is conversion required?

Does the BIA accept 3.x web templates/query versions or do we have to successfully convert/migrate them? Meaning, is the same OLAP engine used for both versions (3.x and 7.x) in 04s?

Hi Michael,
As Far as I know, for the queries we need do anything but for the web templates we need to go thru the process to convert them to be able to use in BI7.0.
But u have to be careful that If u open those queries with the new query designer , u will not be able to open the same queries with the 3.x query designer.
Thats the only thing u need to care of when u are using the BI 7.0.

Issue while running IQY web queries

Hi All,
I have a problem with the iqy file,
i have a couple of parameters in the web query (to_date & from_date)....if i run it for 10 days it runs fine........but if i run it for 1 month it gives me an error "the site reports that the request is not valid".
i did not understand why this error message is coming...........
Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Hurray...Found the solution for this Issue,
Yes, There is a setting(Web Server Timeout setting) that controls how long an web query will stays active.
We need to increase the Web Server Timeout value in order to make these long running IQY file complete successfully.
and this setting is found in httpd.conf, the default value is set to 5 mins, increase this time out value to 30 mins(you can keep any value, as per your requirement)and test you IQY files, they will complete successfully.
(Dont forget to Bounce the server after making the changes to httpd.conf)
Below is the path to httpd.conf
On UNIX: <ORACLE_HOME>/Apache/Apache/conf/httpd.conf

Wrong URL when running Web queries

I'm running a query preview (Or any query which is added to my Favorites SAP menu) and I'm getting this error:
Logon failed
What has happened?

Activation
You activate SAP logon via service maintenance for the Web Application Server (Transaction SICF). First select the default_host/sap/bw/bex entry and double-click to display and change it.
On the Error Pages tab, change the setting from "Explicit reply page" to "Redirect to URL". You must make an entry in the following format as a redirect.

The URL (including the text between the parameters at the end) cannot contain any blank characters.
The URL should be a relative URL, without a host name or a port. This is the only way you can use load balancing across several servers (if this is set up, as described in Note 493475).
Activate the "Form field (Base64)" option.
Activate the "Standard" option on the register service data under Safety Requirements.
The possible additional parameters are explained below.
The setting is made on the Error Pages tab because the Web Browser should usually get a HTTP 401 error first (unauthorized) and should then execute HTTP authentication because of this error. If "Redirect to URL" is maintained, a HTTP 401 error is not sent to the browser but, in the above case, a BSP application is called, which performs a logon.
Deactivation
You can deactivate the SAP logon (for example, with BW 3.0B) by selecting the "Explicit reply page" option on the Error tab.
Calling BW Web Applications with Domains
If you install this logon option, note that the logon application requires you to enter the domain in the URL because the BSP runtime needs it for cookie management.
Therefore, the URL you call must have the following form:

With =X, a switch for the password change is displayed.

With =X, a text field for entering the language is displayed.
bspclient
This parameter specifies the client. If 'auto' is specified, 'sy-clnt' is generated. If nothing is entered or bspclient is omitted, an InputField appears with sy-clnt as the default value.
bsplanguage
This parameter specifies the logon language. If 'auto' is specified, 'sy-langu' is generated. If nothing is entered or bsplanguage is omitted, an InputField appears with sy-langu as the default value.
bsptermsofuse
This parameter displays the 'terms of use' switch, if bsptermsofuse is specified. The value of bsptermsofuse then corresponds to the URL that should display the 'terms of use' (the URL must be programmed by the application).
bspforgotpass
This parameter displays the 'Forget password?' switch if bspforgotpass is specified. The value of bspforgotpass then corresponds to the URL which describes the follow-up actions (what must the user do now) (the URL must be programmed by the application).
bspsysidvisible
This parameter specifies the system ID. If nothing is entered or if bspsysidvisible is omitted, no SystemId is displayed. If bspsysidvisible is not initial, this is displayed.
bspdontshowhttpswarning
You can use the bspdontshowhttpswarning=X parameter to suppress the warning that HTTPS is not set up. However, for safety reasons, we recommend that you install HTTPS to transfer passwords securely (see below).

Profile parameters
If you want to use the SAP logon, you must activate Single Sign On (SSO) with the following profile parameters:
login/accept_sso2_ticket=1
login/create_sso2_ticket=1 or 2
icm/server_port_...=PROT=HTTPS ...
To change these profile parameters, you need to reboot the server.
It is absolutely imperative that you activate SSO (or SSO2). However, you can also change your password without HTTPS, although this is not recommended for security reasons.
Note the remarks above on the BspDontShowHttpsWarning parameter under Explanation of the redirect parameters.
To activate SSO/SSL, you need to do more than just set the above profile parameters. You must also install the corresponding security libraries on the application server. You can find a description of how to install it under http://service.sap.com/security -> Security in Detail -> Infrastructure Security -> SAP SAP Web Application Server Security (Release 6.20) -> Configuring the SAP Web Dispatcher to Support SSL.
You do not need to install SSO software on the client PC.
Message server settings
If you are using a message server, the settings should already be implemented, as described in Note 493475. To use HTTPS, you also need to maintain the following profile parameter on the message server.
ms/https_port
The HTTP(S) port of the message server (for example, 1090) cannot be identical to the HTTP(S) port of the application server (for example, 1080) on which the message server is running.
Consider the required SAP kernel patch, as described in Note 517860.
Application server settings
No additional settings are required for the application server Consider the required SAP kernel patch, as described in Note 517860.
BW Web Intelligence settings
No settings are required in BW Web Intelligence. Business Explorer tools such as the Web Application Designer, Query Designer or SAP Easy Access Menu automatically generate URLs with the message server and port if this is defined by the profile parameters above.

Web Queries stop Working after KB2925418

Hi
I am having an issue where a specific web query (to our CRM) we use stops working after the installation of KB2925418.
Our System Info:
Windows 2012 R2
Office 2013
CRM 2011 Update 17
I have done the following (each step is a follow on from the previous, reboot after each step) - no other settings have changed
1) Install Windows 2012 R2 (no updates) and Office 2013 Std (no updates) -
Works
2) Update Office 2013 fully (via Windows Update) - Works
3) Update all Windows updates (via windows Updates) - Doesn't work
4) Uninstall KB2925418 - Works
5) Update to KB2919355 - Doesn't Work
6) Windows Update all remaining - Doesn't Work
Now I assume KB2919355 includes the fixes in KB2925418, which is why it doesn't work.
If I edit the Query via the Connection Properties (on Data Menu) I can view the data, It just does not appear in excel
Anyone had a similar issue ?
Any Idea on a possible fix ? (I have tried a number of IE settings etc, allowed crossing zones etc)

Hi,
Do the issue only occur the Excel 2013 web query connects the CRM? Have you tried to use the web query connect the other public website (Such as Microsoft website)
The update patch is related to the IE cumulative security, if the issue only occur with accessing CRM, I suppose that there are some compatibility issue between the patch and CRM.
If the issue is occurred with all the web query, I recommend we uninstall the patch and wait for fix.
I'll monitor the issue to check if other customer has the same issue in the forum.

Several web queries with the same selection

Hi all,
I need to implement eventing between 2 Iviews.
I have tested the example that is given as per the white paper "How toClient Side Eventing with BW 3.x and EP 5.0" successfully.
Now, I have one Iview that takes from-date and to-date. I need to pass these date value from Iview1 to Iview2 automatically. How to get the value of these 2 date variables and raise the event in the JavaScript?.

the URL construction for range could be different. Its not a eventing issue, i think its the issue with how you construct the BW url. also you need to split eventObj.dataObject to ge the two field values.
