Web Query for MS Excel 2000+ (*.iqy)
Is there any information on how to use this tool? I have found some on Oracle Fusion Middleware, but not having much success on it. I can get reports to run in Excel, but it isn't consistant. Sometimes they run, sometimes they error out saying "The site reports that the request is not valid". The files that have only 1 query in it seem to work better than files with more than one. I only refresh on at a time.
Thanks.

Okay, couldn't resist.
What about trying to change the default formatting for that folder's item in Disco Admin against the EUL directly (ie: setting the format to none like you found, or setting it to 2 digit accuracy, etc.) and see if that works.

Any workaround for using Excel 2000 in 2004s ???
Greetings.
1. We have Excel 2000 and Windows 2000 standardized in the company and not upgrading to the Windows XP/Vista in the immediate future.
2. Since the new 2004s BI tools do not support downloading to Excel 2000, we are looking for other options such as continue using 3.5 query designer. But from the 3.5 Query designer "Display Query on the web", Publish to Portal or Bex Broadcaster links not working or erroring out.
Greatly appreciate your tips and suggestions for this scenario.
Thanks.
PKHello PK,
Do not try to find a workaround to use excel 2000 with NW 2004s. This may not be useful as Excel 2000 is not supported by SAP for NW 2004s.
But you should be able continue using BW 3.5 tools. Please post the errors that you are getting so that members can help you.

Power Query for Excel login/connection issue.
Hi all
I have recently installed Power Query for Microsoft Excel in MS Office 2013.
I can connect successfully to the all the BI Universes, create queries & design reports in Excel.
The problem that I have is that I can only do this with the Administrator account. The Admin account is the only account that can connect successfully to the BI universes.
I have created test user accounts,test groups and assigned security to basically reflect the same rights as the Admin group, but to no avail.
I have also assigned security to these users & groups on the application level (RESTful Web Service, Universes, Connections) , but no luck.
It constantly says : "Access to the Resource is forbidden"
The last thing I want to do is make the users part of the Administrator group. I'm sure you guys would agree that that would be like opening Pandora's BoxHi Liang,
Power Query is part of Excel 2016 and can be found under the Data tab.

Not getting Selection(Prompt) option for the WebI Query.
Hello Experts,
I built WebI query for the custom query of SAP BI.I am not getting an selection or prompt for the WebI Query even though there is a selection in BI Query.If i develop WebI report for the standard query of the Bex i am getting selction options.
Please suggest how can i do this.
Thanks in Advance,
Shiva Kumar G.CHi Shiva,
Where in the Query Designer are the selections defined?
Selections defined under Characteristic Restrictions should show up when you run the webi report.
Additional selections created under Default Values won't show running a webi report (that is just an additional filter on the data retrieved from the data warehouse).

After upgrade 11.1.1.5 to 11.1.1.6, the Web Query (.iqy) does not work. After open the .iqy file in Excel, entered the user and password, it only pulls in "PK" in one cell, instead of the expected analysis report. This was working in 11.1.1.5 before upgrade.
Does anyone know how to correct this issue? Is this a bug in 11.1.1.6, or required some new configuration settings?
Thanks in advance.

EXCEL Web Query - load into SAP via Web dynpro or standard ABAP
Hi everybody
I was wondering if you can run an EXCEL WEB Query from abap and then upload the data retrieved from the web into SAP using either a web dynpro application or standard SAP.
For standard ABAP one could probably run the EXCEL web query by executing some code such as
call method cl_gui_frontend_services=>execute
exporting
document = 'your excel web query file'.
You could then save the data and using GUI_UPLOAD get it into sap.
I'd really like to do it via a web dynpro application.
Any ideas anyone.
For guys who've never used EXCEL web queries --quite easy.
Open EXCEL
go to Import External Data
Choose New web query
Enter URL of where you want to retrieve your data from such as YAHOO finance etc.
For example to get the components of the Dow Jones Composite Index (^DJA) use this url
http://finance.yahoo.com/q/cp?s=%5EDJA
click the yellow arrow on the table data you want to import. The arrow will turn Green and press IMPORT
Then enter the cell number where you want to start importing data
Hey presto you've got your data from the web.
Cheers
jimbowhen you create a new webquery, in the properties, you can set when the page should refresh (data fetch to happen), you can set that to refresh at file open.
then you can use either OLE or gui_upload to upload the excel to read the data.
have couple of question:
why do you want to choose excel webquery ?=> is it because the ability to get unstructured data from the web?
what sort of data you are trying to read from the web?=> most of data centric sites (forex, stock quotes) will have either RSS feeds or some web APIs to get data which can be easily consumed by ABAP

3 range parameter query to Oracle data base from Excel 2000
A user bas been trying to setup parameter queries into an Oracle
DB. He normally used MS query and written VBA code to
modify the query for daily or adhoc updates.
With Excel 2000, he wanted to take advantage of parameter
queries linked directly to cells in a spreadsheet.
He was able to get single or two level parameter queries
directly linked to the spreadsheet to run, however every time he
went to a
three level parameter query it crashed while returning the data
to Excel.
The error windows read: Microsoft Excel [Oracle][ODBC] with no
other details.
Is there a limit on the number of "levels" for parameter
queries.
The user was able to build and see the results of a three level
query in MS Query, but every time he tried to return the data to
Excel, it crashed.
JeffThis is an Microsoft Access problem. When you initally connect
to an ODBC source database Access caches the connection and does
not ask for connection information on subsequent linked table
accesses. This causes a problem if you request information from
tables belonging to different users during the same Access
session. The way to avoid this error happening is to create a
user with access privileges to both users being used by the
Access front end. When you connect to Oracle use the new user
and you should be able to connect to all the linked tables. It
may also be worth copying the Access databases to one single
database and trying the migration that way.

"Json is undefined" error message when running web query in excel
Hello,
Im trying to run a web query to import flight price data from ryanair into excel.
I get a "Json is undefined" error message whenever i run the web query.
I also get a message from Ryanair saying my browser is out of date even though I have Internet Explorer 11.
Ive added screenshots so i hope they display correctly.
Can anyone help with this.
Thank youHi,
Did this issue only occur with the Ryanair website or other websites( Such as Microsoft websites)?
If this issue only occur with Ryanair website, this issue might be caused by the website script error, please see the below image ( I could reproduce your issue with this URL):
We might be able to query the data with this site.
If your web query can't access the other site, please try the below workaround.
Copy the code in to VBE and set the website URL.
Sub Web_Query()
Sheets.Add
Dim myURL
myURL = "url;http://www.xxxxxx.com"
With ActiveSheet.QueryTables.Add(Connection:=myURL, Destination:=Range("A1"))
.FieldNames = True
.RowNumbers = False
.FillAdjacentFormulas = False
.PreserveFormatting = True
.RefreshOnFileOpen = False
.BackgroundQuery = True
.RefreshStyle = xlInsertDeleteCells
.SavePassword = False
.SaveData = True
.AdjustColumnWidth = False 'True
.RefreshPeriod = 0
.WebSelectionType = xlSpecifiedTables
.WebFormatting = xlWebFormattingNone
.WebTables = "1" '"1,2,3,4"
.WebPreFormattedTextToColumns = True
.WebConsecutiveDelimitersAsOne = True
.WebSingleBlockTextImport = False
.WebDisableDateRecognition = False
.WebDisableRedirections = False
.Refresh BackgroundQuery:=False
End With
End Sub
Hope it's helpful.

Problem for Report Generation Toolkit for excel 2000
Hi all,
Now I am Developing my program with Report Generation Toolkit 1.1.0 and Labview 7.1.
In my computer I am using Excel XP, and there is not any problem. But when I build to
a exe file, and use in a computer with Excel 2000, it didn't work.
And I try to check the source file in this computer, I found that there any some connection
error. And this is caused by the active X class. As I know Excel 2000 is using Microsoft Excel
Object Library 9.0, but i cannot find it in the list of active x. So it is using Microsoft Excel Object
Library with a very old verison. So in the property node there are missing functions, such as the
UsedRange in _Worksheet in the Excel_Get_Range.vi. However, In VBA, I can find the 9.0 Library.
Is it the problem of 9.0 library? How can I solve the problem? How can I upgrade the library to 10.0?
Thanks.
Regard,
RyanHi Mike,
Since my program is for all the staff in office, everyone may use it.
I cannot call the whole office to upgrade the excel to XP.
And I think Report Generation Toolkit is alway support Excel 2000,
since the old version of it is not support for Excel XP.

How to customize the Save as dialog Box for saving Web Query???
Hello,
we are usnging SAP NW Portal and BI 7.0 (SP14).
We have published BI web queries in the Portal and it works just fine, now when the User select the Button "Save As" in the Context Menu of any web query, this will open a new Dialog Box name "Save As Dialog Box", so from this dialog box the user can select where to save the query, he/she have 3 options* to save qureies: My Favorites, Bex Portfolio and MyPortfolio, this also works fine.
My Quetsion is: How can i customize the View of this "Save As" dialog box, so at the end the User can only select 2 Options: My Favorites + MyPortfolio. So how to hide the Tab: Bex Portfolio in the Dialog Box.
Points for any good answer.
Many Thanks and Regards,
Nazih

Query for 'User Activity' Webi Line Chart using BO4.0 Auditor
Need to create a webi line chart to measure ‘user activity’ per month, year or day using BO4.0 Auditor on Oracle.
This question raises two sub-questions:
What actions constitute user activity? Is it concurrent logins by users? I am confused if that would really give a true picture of user activity as users can log in and do nothing on the BO system.
If concurrent logins do in fact give a true picture of user activity then how do I go about creating a chart? What objects do I need to include in query?
Please provide feedback?
Thank u.Hi Ramil,
Follow below steps to create a webi report for your requirement, launch Webi rich client and create a new webi report by selecting "BOEXI40-Audit-Oracle" (Audit universe)
1) Select below objects in 'Result Objects' pane
[Event Year], [Event MonthName],[Event DayofMonth], [Event Type], [User Name], [Total Event Count]
2) Define below conditions in "Query Filter" pane
[Event Type Id] In list 1015 AND [Event Year] In list "Select Year" (Prompt)
3) Run query
4) At report level create a new variable of type measure with the name "User Activity" with below formula
=Count([Total Event Count]In([User Name];[Event MonthName];[Event DayOfMonth]) )
(This formula will track logout event of a each user in a day as well as in a month, it will take/count only one log out event of the user in a day as you desire)
5) Create a table block as well as graphs as you desire
i) For day wise user activity create a table/graph using: [Event DayofMonth], [User Activity]
ii) For month wise user activity create a table/graph using: [Event MonthName], [User Activity]
Let me know if you have any questions

Export to Excel via web query (page breaks on every column?)
The problem that I'm having is when a query is sent out via the reporting agent or whenever I export a web query to excel there are page breaks put on every column of the query. This becomes quite cumbersome whenever an end user or myself wants to print out a query.
I have already transported the packages included in the "How to Enhance Web Printing" and tested much of the functionality in BWD with no success.
Can anyone shed some light on how to adjust the page breaks or format when exporting a web query to excel or when sending a query out via the reporting agent?
Thanks,
Chad

Dynamic date range creation for WebI query
Hi
I have a webi query where I need to provide a date range as selection. But the from date will be based on number of days that user will provide during query execution. For e.g. user will give no of days as 10 so the date range need to be created as (system date -10) to (system date).
I am not sure how to provide the option for user to input no of days and then calculate the date range.
Could you please help me here.
Regards,
AmitAmit.
it can be done but by creating multiple objects.
create Obj1: @prompt("Enter Number Of days",N,Mono,etc..) and capture the number of days in it.
Create your second object infact a filter object: Obj2: Sysdate
Third Object(filter) Obj3: (Sysdate-(@select(class\Obj1)))
give the between condition in webi using these two objects
between Obj2 and Obj3
