Webcam BitmapData problem

Hi all,
I'm trying to make a webcam app, using a microsoft Lifecam
VX-1000 and Flash Pro 8. It has 320x240 resolution. I capture the
camera image using
var image:BitmapData = new BitmapData(_root.view.width,
_root.view.height);
image.draw(_root.view);
where view is my camera object.
The problem is, in the capture, my image is squished into the
top left fourth of the screen, and the rest of the capture is white
space.
I'm doing image processing, so I need the full resolution.
An image that explains what I'm talking about:

My project files:

Thanks for taking the time!
matt carlin

I've run into this as well. It is some ratio between the
resolution of the camera and the video instance showing it –
I've actually run into it with an external FLV, but I'm sure it is
the same issue. I was making that popular reflected video on a
polished black surface effect. I don't know why it is and I don't
know how to actually fix the problem, but a patch/bandaid approach
is:
bmp = new BitmapData(myVideo._width,myVideo._ height, false,
0xff0000);
mtx = new Matrix();
mtx.scale(myVideo._xscale/100,-myVideo._yscale/100);
bmp.draw(myVideo,mtx);
In my case I only created the bitmap and the scale matrix
once, and then the draw method was called repeatedly later.
If anybody has an actual solution I would love to fine
out!

  • Vivtar Webcam driver problem in Windows 7 Enterprise x64

    Hi all, I had not long purchased a Vivitar DVR 708HD Camcorder and the camera itself is rather poor, but I was impressed with it's webcam function back when I had it working on a different computer. I'm not an amature as I'm usually quite good at finding
    device drivers as I did a lot of manual driver installations in Windows 98 and 95 but this one as stumped me. The even more annoying thing is, I have lost the OEM disk for the camera (although, I wasn't entitrely sure if it contained a device driver for it)
    and I have got it to work once but that was in Windows 7 Ultimate x86. Now my computer is running a 64 bit version of Windows (Windows 7 Enterprise to be precise, as described in the title) and I know some drivers do not like running in 64 bit if they are
    not native to them but I was wondering if anybody possibly knows how to sort this. If it is a compatibility issue with 64 bit operating systems then so be it but I was hoping somebody could assist me with this and possibly find a driver solution to work this
    camera.
    If you need the Hardware Identifications here they are:
    USB\VID_04FC&PID_1628&REV_0100&MI_02
    USB\VID_04FC&PID_1628&MI_02
    I suppose it could also be possible that Vivitar features a different type of Firmware for this cameras I'm not sure but good luck if you can help!
    -Matthew

    64-bit Windows requires 64-bit drivers.

  • Webcam sound problems!!

    while using webcam to talk to my aunt, she can only see me  but I can see and hear her....no sound on her end.  Her speakers work for other sounds like internet games and stuff like that. We both have HP laptops with built-in webcams.  I have used my webcam with other people and the sound works just fine telling me that the problem is on her end.  Please help!!!
    This question was solved.
    View Solution.

    Hi Shellee,
    Here are a couple of things your aunt can check...
    You didn't say what kind of service you are using to talk to your Aunt with the Webcam, though. so I am guessing.  If your service is different, the idea will be the same - just look for the same "sort of thing" under her service, there is usually an "Options" setting and they work pretty much the same way for all sorts of programs and services...
    You didn't say what Operating System you are using.  This information is for Windows 7.  Vista works about the same way.  XP... not so much, but you may find your way through it.
    On her notebook, your Aunt can make sure her Sound is set up to come through her main notebook speakers.
    Bring up the Sound Menu:
    Taskbar > Right-Click on Sound Icon > Playback Devices > Playback >
    Assure "Speakers and Headphones" are "SET DEFAULT"  (Green Checked)
    If the notebook speakers are not already marked with a green "CHECK" mark, ask your Aunt to Left-Click on "speakers and headphones" to highlight the selection. Click "Set Default"
    Second Check:
    On this same menu spot..
    Right-Click on "Speakers and Headphones" > Check list that comes up
    (If your Aunt sees "Disable" in the llist, then Speakers are "enabled" and ready to be used - this is Good.)
    Click OK (and done here)
    =========================================================================
    If using Skype, Latest Version (April 2012)
    Skype > Tools > Options > Audio Settings > Speakers > Drop-down menu
    Have your Aunt make sure that "Speakers and Headphones" is selected, just like on the Sound icon in her regular sound settings.  There may be more than one setting in that Speakers drop-down menu, have her click on it and check it.  You may have to hold up a sign or send her this post...  Smiling.
    I do not know if this is what you are looking for... it may help you find out where to start looking and figure out where to poke at it so you can fix it with her.
    Good Luck!

  • Video Blaster Webcam Installation problem

    I got a new PC (OS : Windows XP). When I'm trying to install my Video Blaster Webcam Go Plus, I am encountering an error msg: "The software you are installing has not passed Windows Logo testing to verify with Windows XP." What scared me was the next line.."Continuing your installation of this software may impair or destabilize the correct operation of your system either immediately or in the future. Microsoft strongly recommends that you stop the installation and contact the hardware vendor for software that has passed the Windows logo testing." I tried to get downloads specifically for XP but I am still encountering the same problem. SOMEBODY HELP ME PLS. THANKS!!

    Manos,
    The Video Blaster Webcam 3 is an archived product. Did you just purchase it? If that is the case, it would recommended to return the product for a newer model.
    The last driver release was back in 2002 and the driver only supports up to Windows XP. There has been no further driver development for this model ever since.

  • WebCam Notebook problem: slow broadcasting

    Hi all,
    I bought a Webcam for notebook (not the "Ultra" model) but after having installed its drivers and software and it works properly. However within yahoo messanger, in detail broadcasting, it is really slow showing my images with a very slow refresh (every 2-3 seconds)?.. but it is only a problem connected with my camera because I can see in other windows people movement in a very fluid way.
    I use a T internet connection and this problem occurs both with and without firewall (webcam is connected by a USB20 port).
    I downloaded and installed latest drivers and software for Windows XP.
    How can I solve this problem?
    Thanks in advance

    grwbach,
    "Supercam" is a feature of the Yahoo Messenger software. The camera has nothing to do with the actual video conference. Your MSN software recieves the video stream from the camera and compresses it for transmission over the internet. If that transmission is slow, it is a result of either the software or your connection speeds. MSN's support group should have more information about optimizing speeds.
    The WebCamCenter updates are available for most of the cameras. This won't affect your video conference speeds, but I would need to know which camera you have in order to get it corrected to the latest versions of software.

  • Webcam quality problems

    Hi.
    I bought MSI GE70 2PC-067 today and everything is good... except webcam. It has really bad quality. How can I fix it? Where could be problem? Even my old notebook has better.
    Here is photo.
    Thank you for any help!

    Well, camera what's with win8, if you mean that. But also with skype it's bad like that... and I don't have any special program for webcam. But I think it is weird, because the photos are so small and bad, as you can see. And it's not environment. It's everywhere. I don't really need external webcam, i'm just kinda disappointed... it's supposed to be 2mpx but, you know.
    I also tried update driver, but they seems to be okay.

  • Rocketfish webcam connectivity problem

    I have a (Best Buy) Rocketfish Notebook Web Camera RF-NBCAM which comes with its own software: Webcam Monitor. I stupidly downloaded macam version 0.9.0 and now my Powerbook won’t recognise that a camera is connected in any programme except Webcam Monitor (eg in Skype and ichat)... I think there is a connectivity problem, but don't know how to rectify it. I have tried to uninstall all the programmes and reinstall Webcam Monitor and Skype to no avail. I would really appreciate advice. eg. are there preference/configuration files lurking that might be looking for macam, and if so how do I access them? Thank you!

  • X200 webcam detection problem

    I have a Thinkpad x200.
    My webcam was working perfectly. Then the last few days, the light started to come on randomly, even when I wasn't using the webcam.
    Today, the webcam didn't work. It is not detected by Device Manager. I tried installing the drivers, but it still does not work. I tried turning off firewalls and uninstalling all the driver and re-installing, but it still doesn't work. I am hoping it isn't a hardware problem, but it might be.
    Anyone have any suggestions?
    Thanks in advance.

    Having same issue as OP.  Any help out there??  Thanks.

  • Creative Webcam Pro Problem - Resolution.

    Hi. I've recently dug up my old Webcam Pro and encountered out the following problem when using it:
    All data sources indicate that it is capable of capturing video at 640x480/5fps, but this one captures it at a much lower resolution, probably 320x240 or 352x288. In the Creative Blaster control webcam monitor the maximum setting is 352x288 and I couldn't finf any more placed with the settings for the camera.
    My question is - how to set it up to use the VGA resolution?
    cya
    Raziel-chan

    Umm... Problem solved - I downloaded the webcam center. Couldn't it be available to Webcam Pro as well on the download site? Webcam pro isn't even there, but it works with it.
    Now I have another problem - the video look like if it had a constant grain-filter applied to it - it's simply VERY grainy and the grains do not move. Plus I'm getting only 0 fps max with auto-brightness and auto-exposure off.

    Acquire a USB Camera Image 1.vi ‏73 KB

    Hi qurrr,
    Your VI worked fine on my system with my Creative Live! USB camera without requiring any modifications. Are you getting any errors when you try to access your camera?
    Are your USB cameras DirectShow compliant? They need to be in order to access them using IMAQ for USB (for example, is the "USB Camera" string indicator you have on the front panel filling in with the name of your camera OK?).
    Another possibility is that your are disabling the "snapshot" property of the Image Viewer on your front panel, but in the VI you posted it was still enabled properly. If it was disabled, then when you dispose of the image, it would clear the image display because they would both be pointing to the same space in memory. Please take a look at the following KnowledgeBase articles to see what I mean there:
    KB 3NDH344Y: IMAQ Image Display Indicator Changes Throughout Execution of VI
    KB 3NRFH84Y: Image Display Refreshing in LabVIEW
    To ensure your image display would be updated before your dispose is called, you could change your simple VI to be like the screenshot I've included, where you put the display indicator in a flat sequence with the IMAQ USB Close VI, so that you force it to get called before the IMAQ Dispose VI.

  • Webcam connection problems

    I'm having problems connecting using ichat.
    I'm using the latest ichat AV 3.1.5 and my operating system is 10.4.7
    I've just had my internet connection upgraded to ADSL2 which is connecting at around 15mbps/1mbps. Before this happened I was able to connect, if only after several times of asking, with my friends in the UK. Now we always get the same error (number 8). This is that everything works fine, ie. I press the camera icon next to their buddy name. My picture come up with a message saying that we're just waiting for their response. Then a message reading 'starting video chat'. But this always is cancelled because of 'no response/reply'.
    Most of the time i'm disabeling the apple firewall. However I haven't worked out how to do this on my router/modem. I suspect that this is the problem!
    My new ADSL2 modem is a Netcomm NB5 ADLS2 modem router.
    I've since performed some contact testers from Ralph Johns website. ie.
    appleu3test01 - result no camera icon
    appleu3test02 - result no camera icon
    appleu3test03 - result no camera icon
    RjinWI PC - Camera icon came up and connection worked perfectly!
    Lots of information there. I hope some of it makes sense.
    Hopefully someone can help. Thanks in advance.

    Thanks Tony,
    These settings were already set in ichat, but I've reconfigured the bandwidth in Quicktime to see if this helps.
    Also, when I've logged on today all the test work fine - found on:
    http://www.ralphjohnsuk.dsl.pipex.com/ContactTesters.html
    This is strange. As normally I can't work my camera with anybody else.
    thanks again. Rich
