Webcenter Application Version/ Side by Side deployment

Hi,
I have created a webcenter portal application and deployed to weblogic.
The application version is always set to V2.0.
How do you change this version?
I create the ear file manually using jdeveloper and can see no entry in the deploymnet descriptor and deploy via Enterprise Manager, where the option to edit the version is not available.
I have tried to introduce a MANIFEST.MF file with the following entry:
Manifest-Version: 1.0
WebLogic-Application-Version: V1.0
But this does not get picked up either.
I am trying to test SIDE by SIDE deployment? is this even achievable with Webcenter applications?
Any help/ advice welcome.
Thanks

Hi.
You probably forget any step.
Basically i followed this steps to install V7.0 app:
- Created WebCenter Portal Application (JDev 11.1.1.6).
- In Application Root folder/META-INF (same folder as jazn-data.xml...) i created a MANIFEST.MF with V7.0
- Changed EAR Deployment profile in Application Properties changing:
1) In "File Groups -> Application Descriptors -> Filters". Uncheck MANIFEST.MF
2) In "EAR Options" check Include Manifest Files to MANIFEST.MF and add your recently created MANIFEST File.
- Deploy your Applications as EAR file.
- Deploy in WebLogic through Enterprise Manager or deploy directly from JDeveloper.
Regards.

  • How to deploy webcenter application

    Hi,
    How to deploy webcenter application? I mean not in the Integrated Server provided by Jdev.
    Can anyone specify the steps whcih I can follow?

    Thanks for the info.
    I have installed WLS and after that Webcenter and created a domain for weblogic.
    After I start my weblogic and managed server I can see that Admin server and WLS_Portlet manged server are in running state.
    Now inorder to deploy webcenter application should I need to prepare a environment by creating a new managed server and all as mentioned in the document :
    http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E12839_01/webcenter.1111/e12405/wcadm_deploy.htm#BABCBJAD
    Or
    Can I deploy directly on WLS_Portlet managed server?

  • Deploying Webcenter Application

    I am having a lot of difficulty deploying a webcenter application to a stand-alone weblogic server. I am currently using JDEV Drop 7 Bulid 7A.
    I have set up the appropirate deployment profile. Our apps has customization (i.e. customize some Webcenter Task Flow) and skinning. I am able to deploy our apps successfully to the integrated weblogic server (i.e. start the integrated WLS and then deploy the application manually using the JDEV Deploy feature). I tried to follow the documentation as much as I could but still not successful..
    [Webcenter Dev Guide|http://fmwdocs.us.oracle.com/doclibs/fmw/E10285_01/webcenter.1111/e12405/wcadm_deploy.htm#BABJEEEH]
    I need to know how to setup the WLS server correctly and provision all the required libraries/applications to ensure that webcenter application can be deployed to it successfully.
    Thanks in advance for any help.

    Please see my comments below:
    [GM] I'm assuming you have installed WebCenter. Is that right?
    1. Install WLS 10.3 (e.g. c:\oracle\MWHOME_D7B7C)
    [GM] Have you installed RCU?
    2. Install JDEV Drop 7 Build 7C (include Webcenter framework) to the same directory (i.e. c:\oracle\MWHOME_D7B7C). ---> Is this step required?
    [GM] Only if you want to create an ADF domain later. Otherwise, it's not.
    3. Configure the domain (e.g. shcm_domain). ---> Do I need to use specific template or just take the default Weblogic to generate the basic weblogic domain?
    [GM] Have you run $FMW_HOME/Oracle_WC1/common/bin/config.sh to create the WebCenter domain?
    4. Modify the TargetServer.properties file
    ## DomainHome chosen for the installation ##
    domainHome=/mwhome_D7B7C/user_projects/domains/shcm_domain/ ------> is it correct?
    ## OracleHome of the installation location ##
    ORACLE_HOME=/mwhome_D7B7C/as11r1wc ------> is it correct?
    ## AdminServer URL
    adminServerUrl=t3://<your_server_ip_address>:7001
    ## Name of the managed server you want to create
    mgdServerName=CustomAppServer
    ## Username to access the server
    user=weblogic
    ## Password to access the server
    password=welcome1
    ## Port number to be configured to the new managed server
    port=9996
    ## Use serverType "WebCenter" for generic WebCenter custom app ##
    ## or serverType "Portlet" for Portlet producer and bridge custom app ##
    serverType=WebCenter
    ## If you don't want to create a custom schema for the new managed ##
    ## server, choose NONE, otherwise specify the name of the schema which##
    ## you already created. ##
    customDS=NONE -----> is this the webcenter schema?
    [GM] I usually don't change it. I just add my managed server as a target of WebCenterDS. Remember that I'm not talking about best practices or production environment. :)
    5. Do I need to modify the CreateManagedServer.py file? if yes, which setting I need to change..
    [GM] Just if you want to change things like the port of your managed server.
    Good luck.

  • WebLogic 11g: Weblogic-Application-Version not taken into account

    Hello,
    I'm trying to set up Production Redeployment on my EAR, under WebLogic 10.3.6.
    However, I can't figure out how to make Weblogic-Application-Version work in MANIFEST.MF
    Here is my EAR structure:
    MyApplication
    --- APP-INF
    --- --- lib
    --- --- classes
    --- META-INF
    --- --- application.xml
    --- --- weblogic-application.xml
    --- --- MANIFEST.MF <- file I update
    --- WebApp1
    --- --- META-INF
    --- --- --- MANIFEST.MF
    --- --- WEB-INF
    --- --- --- classes
    --- --- --- lib
    --- --- --- web.xml
    --- --- --- weblogic.xml
    --- WebApp2
    --- --- same as WebApp1
    MANIFEST.MF content is the following:
    Manifest-Version: 1.0
    Weblogic-Application-Version: VERSION_1
    The problem is that it's not taken into account when I deploy the application in the WebLogic console.
    When I use staged mode, the line Weblogic-Application-Version: VERSION_1 is removed from the staged MANIFEST.MF file.
    The only way to manage to version my application is to add the flag -appversion to weblogic.Deployer, but I don't want to use that on a Production environment (and it's not recommended in the documentation!).
    Any idea why Weblogic-Application-Version not taken into account? I tried to add debug mode to node weblogic/debug but with no success.
    Thanks by advance,
    Julien

    I tested it at my end and was able to redeploy it successfully with the application versions.
    Are you saying that by deploying through weblogic console,the archive version is not honoring/getting picked up .is that correct?
    if yes, what does your weblogic console shows for archive version,when you first try to deploy your application with the VERSION_1.
    I mean,when you are on the "Optional Settings" Page.Do you see the Archive Version as VERSION_1?
    Deployments >> Click on the Install >> select your application ( MyAPP)>> Install this deployment as an application >> Select deployment targets >> Optional Settngs
    Example from the Optional settings Page for My application
    What do you want to name this deployment?
    Name: MyAPP
    Archive Version:
    VERSION_1
    This can confirm that the application being deployed is versioned one and if it doesn't shows up,then you need to check why its not getting picked up.?
    Moreover,You can enable the "deploy" debug flag to see whats going wrong in your case during the deployment process
    Server > Debug > Weblogic > Deploy
    Do refer the below viewlet on the Production Redeployment
    http://download.oracle.com/otn_hosted_doc/wls/redeployment/wls-side-by-side-non-annotation_viewlet_swf.html

  • Uncontrolled Memory usage in webcenter application.

    I have a webcenter application which I use as Consumer Application. This application contains 30 Portlets registered using portlet producers.
    All these portlets are again webcenter applications portletized using the Portlet Faces Bridge.
    I deploy this consumer application on one of the OC4J containers in application server.
    Also, the 30 producers are deployed in another OC4J Container in the same application server.
    When I start accessing my consumer application and the page containing any portlet, the heap size of that container starts increasing till it reaches maximum level and then finally hangs up. Also, this heap size does not come down and I am not able to fulfill any further requests.
    The container and application logs suggest java.lang.OutOfMemory Error . Heap Space.
    Also, the heap size of producer containers is under control. I am not able to understand how to control / release this heap memory.
    When I run a minimized version of this consumer application ( having 5 - 10 portlet producers registered) It works pretty fine.
    So I think when the number of portlet producer registrations increase, there is this memory leak.
    Is there a limit to the number of portlet producers that can be registered in a webcenter consumer application? How can I find out where exactly is the memory leak? How do I bring down the heap size once processing is finished?

    Hi vsharma2,
    Thanks a lot for your reply.
    we have tried all the things mentioned by you. We have also increased the physical memory to the extent we could.
    But my main concern is that the memory does not get released. We cannot increase memory to very high levels. It has to stop somewhere.
    If we could get a solution whereby we understand how to release the memory consumed by the portlet producers once they have been used, it could solve the problem. Unfortunately, we haven't got any solution in this direction. Also, we have done code optimization, closed everything (whatever we can) in finally block and increased the container Heap size also.
    Hope we get something to release the memory consumed by portlets or portlet producers.
    Anyway, thanks a lot for your directions.
    Regards,
    Kunal

  • Use 11g portlet in Oracle Portal or WSRP1 in WebCenter application fails

    Hi,
    I build a portlet as in the example at http://download.oracle.com/otndocs/tech/webcenter/files/owc_r11_portlet_bridge_demo.html and try to consume it from Oracle Portal. Does this mean wsrp1 is no longer supported with 11g because of client side ajax? Would this mean that Oracle Portal consuming 11g portlets is out of the question?
    Kind Regards,
    Andre Jochems

    Thank you for the clear answer. Just curious .... if Portal 11g supports wsrp 2 will it be possible to have a portlet generate events and link those in portal to page parameters which in turn can be linked to portlet input parameters as is possible with a pdk java portlet? In other words, ... can the inter portlet communication be set/edited/wired at runtime in Portal instead of design time as is the case with WebCenter?
    Also if Portal 11g will have these features what is the added value of WebCenter, aside from not needing the extra infrastructure to run Portal?
    While i am at it, ... how will the skin and stylesheets be handled when a 11g rich faces portlet is rendered in Portal, will it keep its nice looks? Can they be mapped to portal defined styles for portlets to adapt the style to the surrounding portal?
    Kind Regards,
    Andre Jochems

  • Load-balancing by application version

    Hi there. I have a pair of CSS-11501's that I'm using for load-balancing incoming connections for a specific software application. We have 2 versions of the software that connect to the same TCP port on the server side. Is there any way to have the CSS distinguish between the application versions so I can direct traffic to different clusters based on version, without the customer knowing?

    no way with the CSS.
    The CSS can understand http but not other applications.
    The ACE module in its next software release will be able to catch data on any application and make an action like loadbalance with it.

  • Tool versions and Application versions

    hi,
    i have a doubt in basic concept of peopleosft regarding the realtion between tool versions and application versions
    I have two systems..
    system1 : Application version 8.8 and tool version 8.49
    system 2: Application version 8.9 and tool version 8.46
    Now, the integration broker and webservices are completley different in these two tool versions...
    from whatever i know..when tool version is upgraded..navigations in application remain same but the way the process is done in background differ...
    so if we have webservices in application 8.8 and tools 8.46...the navigations are different and when we upgrade to 8.49 the whole concept of webservices change...so the navigations invariably change..how can it be possible..?
    Can someone explain me this or give a link to a doc for reference..
    Thanks in advance,
    Karthik

    Well, you seems confuse, or I was not clear enough.
    Maybe I'm still not getting your question as it should, so you could try to rephrase it again.
    What's your concern exactly ?
    A new try on my side:
    The menu your are talking about is the Peopletools menu, so application does not interact with it.
    The only link between application and Peopletools are some calls. The application does NOT care about the Peopletools menu.
    The application/peopletools capabilities are embeded in the Peopletools which are ready or not ready to receive calls from differents Applications versions.
    Once more, menus are only frontend user GUI, but internally, this is an other stuff I tried to explain above.
    Basically, for the application point of view, Peopletools version are not know. This is the other way around, Peopletools are willing to receive application calls.
    Nicolas.

    But this file - /PortalContentBIReportsjspx_3715283e_0134_1000_8001_ac1801a53f3d.pxml exists in my local machine from where i am deploying. I have done the following things.
    1) there are no spaces between my project names
    2) I have also removed all unused producers from the mds folder in jdev.
    I feel that the MDS folder is not getting included while deploying , not sure.
    I am deploying the webcenter to a standalone WLS
    Can any one help me in this

    Hi Yannick,
    Thanks!!
    I was able to resolve it, actually there was a datasource mds-owsm which was being referred in my webcenter application and it was not targeted to the managed server where I was deploying the app, So once I added the target to include this managed server, the portlet was getting identified and getting consumed in my application.
    Quick question here I need to integrated BI presentation service in my webcenter, what will be the best way to do it and go about it?I had found an artcile in oracle docs but it is not working for me.Please suggest some better ways of doing this integration.
    Thanks for your help!!!

  • New application version and subprocesses

    Hi,
    I have a workflow in LC ES2 which uses some subprocesses that are contained in the same application. Now I want to use versioning and create a new version of the application. Unfortunately the process V1.1 seems to use the subprocesses of V1.0. If I undeploy version 1.0 and deploy version 1.1 the process stalls, because the subprocess V1.0 is not found.
    If I open the main process v1.1 in workbench and open a subprocess by using the right click menu, workbench opens the v1.0 version of the subprocess.
    I would expect the new version to be consistent in using all elements and assets of the new version, not to mix up with old elements. espacially when the old version is undeployed. If I redefine a subprocess call, all the input and output variables are reset to empty. So reconfiguring all subprocess calls would result in a lot of work and maybe some errors...
    The documentation describes what I want: the newest version of a subprocess should be invoked... (http://help.adobe.com/en_US/livecycle/9.0/workbenchHelp/help.htm?content=003741.html).
    Is this a bug in LC ES2? Is this fixed in SP1? I think I rember LC ES to work as expacted...
    Thanks and regards,
    Lars

    This bug is currently in the team's backlog. Unfortunately there is no workaround.

    Please refere back to your installation guide for your respective Netweaver System.  NW 7.1 is not compatable with Java 1.4, it requires at least a java version of 1.5 to operate.  If you use the 'java -version' command, this will tell you what your current java release is.

    </object>
    </f:verbatim>
    </cust:panelCustomizable>

    But it is showing error that embed tag cannot be nested inside verbatim element. So which tag should i use to include that .swf file?

  • Securing WebCenter applications with PKI and CAC

    I have a potential customer who has a need to secure WebCenter apps using PKI and CAC. Can this be done in the current version? or in 11g? If so, what are the basic steps?
    Thanks in advance,
    -Matt

    Hi Matt,
    You can configure WebCenter applications to use Oracle Internet Directory, which in turn has support for PKI and has an SDK for developing extensions to external devices.
    You might want to try posting your question in the Oracle Identity Management forum.
