Webcenter Discussion Forum setup

Need help on setting up Discussion -
I set up the Jive Forum (changed the jive_setup.xml)
1. Datasource setting - JNDI details
2. User setting (used LDAP )
Also created the discussion connection inside Webcenter application
Drag and dropped the discussion forum.
and deployed it.
AT run time it is showing message on screen : "There is no default or active connection defined for this connection type."
Please guide me to get the discussion forum running in my application at runtime.

Hi,
I have made a connection to discussion server from custom webcenter application, not from Spaces.
In spaces i am facing an issue. For registering DIscussion and Announcement, the link should be available under services configuration tab.........but unfortunately that link was not present. If you could able to see it from spaces , please let me know how could we acieve it..
Thanks..

    Hi all,
    I have lost my username and password used to login to http://<host>:<port>/owc_discussions/admin/login.jsp. Is there any method to get the userID and password back? Is there any database that saves these data? Reply to this query will be very useful to me.
    Thanks in advance,

  • External LDAP connection for Jive forum webcenter Discussion

    Hi All,
    We could successfully configure external LDAP with Webcenter Discussion forum. In turns Jive forum.
    Problem we are facing : It is authenticating for display name instead of actual userid.
    EX:
    John Paul (display name)
    [email protected] (email id)
    John.paul (userid)
    It is accepting John Paul as username instead of john.paul. This is issue as there can be duplicate display names.
    Which parameter and where to configure to make sure Authentication is done for userid only.

    I think jive is used in webcenter discussions?
    You may have the wrong forum... this is for Webcenter Interaction Products.

  • Integration of Webcenter Discussion service with ADF Application

    Hi,
    I'm in the process of integrating the Webcenter Discussion service in an ADF Application.
    I have completed the following steps.
    1. Installed JDeveloper 11g and Webcenter 11g.
    2. Configured the Discussion server which was installed along with Webcenter 11g.
    3. Integrated Discussions with ADF Application by creating a Discussion connection.
    The ADF Application is running fine. But the forums are displaying empty. In the Discussion server, I'm unable to create new users and there are no options to create forums and to create threads.
    Help me in getting the below things,
    1. Where we can create forums?
    2. What settings we need to make for new forums and where to do those settings?
    3. Are there any settings to create new users as i have only one default user 'weblogic'? When i create new users from Discussion server, I'm getting the message as 'Create users not supported'.

    Hope you are using WC_Collaborations managed server to manage all discussion forum activites.
    For you requirement ,you need to navigate the following url:
    http://<server address>:<WC_collaboration port>/owc_discussions/admin
    it will take you to jive forum admin page .where you can create new forums and new users also. For user and groups management ,visit -
    http://docs.jivesoftware.com/latest/documentation/forums-admin-guide.html#users_groups
    In your application , all users are coming from weblogic server's embedded LDAP or from external LDAP(if you configure so ). there also you can create user.
    I have a doubt ,regarding your application.
    Are you using only ADF application ,or webcenter application.
    for displaying discussion forum ,you need webcenter discussion forums taskflows in your page .
    If you use only ADF application,then you need to add all the forum corresponding libraries in your application otherwise need to consult with oracle support.

  • How to integrate Blogs & Discussion Forums for Webcenter Suite 10gR3?

    Hi,
    One of our clients has just gone live with a Webcenter 10gR3 Portal implementation (using WC Framework). They're now interested in integrating blogs and discussion forums with their Portal.
    My understanding is that blogging, discussion forum etc is not supported in Webcenter 10gR3. Correct me if wrong?
    Can someone share any solutions which have been implemented around the same. Eg: I read about using blogs, wiki etc from Webcenter 11g Stack and exposing them web services.
    Basically what are the possible options we can explore into?
    Thanks,
    Preethi

    Thanks Venkat. Actually we're not considering migrating to 11g I was only looking for possible options and this was one of them that I read the forum.
    Thought to adding some more information about this portal: It is developed in WLP so they're on Weblogic Server.
    Jon Huang, Director Product Management for Webcenter Suite and Portal tells me
    "The WebCenter 10.1.3.4 Additional Services releases contains wiki/blog/discussions and is certified with WebCenter 10gR3 version:
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/webcenter/owcs_10134_addtlservices.html
    *You'll need to use WLS for these additional services.*"
    That answers my question, but would appreciate if others can share any more info on similar implementations, if done.

  • How to watch forum using Webcenter Discussions REST API

    If I am building an application using WebCenter Discussions REST API, what API should I invoke to watch forum, topic? If it is not available in the REST API, what is the workaround to do the same ?
    Did not find relevant information in the [http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E23943_01/webcenter.1111/e10148/jpsdg_jive.htm#CHDGJECD] .

    Hi.
    REST Discussions API allow you to get all information that you need. It provides URL to Forums, topics... Or directly you can access to the messages.
    In addition, you can use REST Search API to search into discussion forums if you have Oracle SES.
    Off doc about information that can you get through REST API: http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E23943_01/webcenter.1111/e10148/jpsdg_jive.htm#CHDGJECD
    In the case of that you need more information about provided by REST API or WebCenter API then you can implement your own ADF BC to consume Discussions schema :).

  • RE: Integrating Discussion Forum with webcenter

    Hi,
    I have an doubt in integrating Discussion Forum in webcenter. All that is I want to use my Clients users to use discussion service embedded in webcenter. So Anyone please guide me in binding both webcenter and Discussion server to use same LDAP. Kindly please suggest me in terms of any screenshots, tutorials, videos etc.
    Regards,
    Dinesh Vishnu Kumar.C

    Hi Dinesh,
    You have to just integrate your domain with external LDAP server using the steps mentioned in the following guide.
    http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E23943_01/webcenter.1111/e12405/wcadm_security_id_store.htm#BGBHHGEH
    Once you done with it, from PS4 onward, discussion server use JSP-based security to authenticate itself from this LDAP based provider. The only thing you have to do in discussion is that you have to add one Administration user in discussion server using the following one procedure:-
    a. From the Discussion Server Administration (http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E23943_01/webcenter.1111/e12405/wcadm_security_id_store.htm#BGBGGHEA): As per my experience, you will not be able to access it once you configured external LDDAP provider. Therefore, I prefer to use option-b.
    b. Run the WLST command i.e. addDiscussionsServerAdmin

  • Can not login the WebCenter Discussions Admin console

    Hi
    I have installed the oracle web center 11.1.1.2 and 11.1.1.3 patch and have the weblgic admin/wls_services server running successfully. after create two new users in the embed weblogic i can login the webcenter discussion. The two test users can post a announcement but have no right to create a new forum and post new thread. So i want to login the ADMIN console by host:port/owc_discussions/admin but denied, including the weblogic default admin user(weblogic/weblogic1). in the webcenter administation guide, it says:
    "By default, Oracle WebCenter Discussions is configured to use the embedded LDAP identity store: all users in the embedded LDAP store can log on to the discussions server, and all users in the Administrators group have administrative privileges on Oracle WebCenter Discussions." in 12.2.2 Discussions Server - Security Considerations
    also tried to change the configuration file for Jive(jive_startup.xml), setting the setup element to false which mentioned in another threads in this forum and still not work.
    Currently all i want to do is login the discussion as admin and create a forum, say 'Generic' and register the connection in Jdevoper and create a custom app for posting new thread.
    Hope someone can help.

    I have resolved this issue by re-build the installation

  • How to enable Edit/Delete Discussion Forum?

    Hi,

    All properties must be under the "jive" element.

  • Unable to create a connection for Discussion Forums.

    Hi,
    I have my WC_Spaces and WC_Colloboration Servers running actively. When I try to create a new connection by right-clicking Connections in Applications Resources and choose Discussion Forums and too I entered the URL and admin fields, I find its unable to create a new connection. The error displayed is : "Failed to verify connection". Please help me with this.
    Regards,
    Dinesh Vishnu Kumar

    Hi,
    In your webcenter application you have created the discussion forum connection and you have connections.xml file in your application.Open the connections.xml in jdeveloper and check the discussion forum connection entry.
    For example here I have written down my entry on forum connection-
    <Reference name="Discussion Forum Connection" className="oracle.adf.mbean.share.connection.webcenter.forum.ForumConnection" xmlns="">
    <Factory className="oracle.adf.mbean.share.connection.webcenter.forum.ForumConnectionFactory"/>
    <RefAddresses>
    <StringRefAddr addrType="forum.url">
    <Contents>http://localhost:8890/owc_discussions</Contents>
    </StringRefAddr>
    <StringRefAddr addrType="admin.user">
    <Contents>weblogic</Contents>
    </StringRefAddr>
    <StringRefAddr addrType="connection.time.out">
    <Contents/>
    </StringRefAddr>
    <StringRefAddr addrType="policy.uri.for.auth.access">
    <Contents/>
    </StringRefAddr>
    <StringRefAddr addrType="policy.uri.for.public.access">
    <Contents/>
    </StringRefAddr>
    <StringRefAddr addrType="recipient.key.alias">
    <Contents/>
    </StringRefAddr>
    <StringRefAddr addrType="adapter.name">
    <Contents>Jive</Contents>
    </StringRefAddr>
    </RefAddresses>
    </Reference>
    Change the required entries with your values(for serveraddress,port and admin user).
    One more thing need to consider that is -
    in jdeveloper proxy ,add the server address in exception list and restart the jdeveloper.
    Sometimes it will show you up as "failed to verify the connection". But it will work atleast functionality-wise it will work.
    Apart from this,I have a query on "Have you used any VPN connection to connect collaboration server to create forum connection?"
    Hope it works for you.
    Regards,
    Hoque

  • Issue Tracker, Bug Tracker, 0.9,Discussion Forum 0.91!

    Hi all!
    My question is very specific.
    I have Software Projects application in Russian edition.(I translate this application).
    I can put it for you.
    Do you have Issue Tracker application, Bug Tracker 0.9 application, Discussion Forum 0.91 application in Russian edition ?
    Thanks,
    Roman.

    Unfortunately the problem persists on OC4J904, so the alternative for you is to use OC4J902, you can setup a new container on a different port (other than used for 902) and register the provider using the direct URL of the OC4J902 container. This should solve the problem.
